Updating Macbook Graphics Card Drivers

i have tried playing warcraft 3 using the macbook as it is. and it is pretty crappy. i think if the drivers were updated it would run more smoothly.
i was wondering if its possible to upgrade them?
i know its an integrated chipset and w/e but is there anything more i can do as far as software upgrading?
Mac OS X (10.4.7)   13" Macbook 30 Gig Video iPod

for now the updater for graphic card should be in the 10.4.7 or 10.4.8 updater.
Go to blizzard sites and download patch and updater for wIII (ver 1.20?), it might help too.
Good Luck.

  • Can't update AMD graphics card drivers in Macbook Pro 15" 2011

I've been having this problem for a while now, and from what I understand, it's a fairly common issue with bootcamp but I have not been able to find a solution to the problem nonetheless. I am using a 15" Macbook Pro from 2011 (purchased in early September, not sure if that was before the 'late 2011' model or not), running Windows 7 Home Premium x64 through bootcamp v4.0. The graphics card is an AMD Radeon HD 6750m last updated on 6/13/2011 to version 8.812.0.0.
I have tried many times to update the card using the AMD catalyst control center supposedly made for windows 7 in bootcamp, but no matter what compatibility options I choose, the installer either tells me there is no graphics adapter (auto detect) or just crashes immediately after starting installation of the catalyst control center. I've also attempted reinstalling bootcamp several times, each with a fresh download of the windows support software, though I have not completely uninstalled Windows 7. I'm not sure if the problem is with the bootcamp drivers themselves or with AMD's software or a combination of both, and a solution would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I know this is completely the wrong spot for this, but while I'm here, does anybody else have issues running EA's Origin download service? I just installed it in bootcamp a few days ago to play Mass Effect 3, and ever since then my computer gets display lag (e.g. in windows media player the video freezes for a few seconds at a time, while the sound continues playing) sometimes, especially during and after attempting to play Mass Effect 3. I already checked to make sure that both Origin and Mass Effect 3 are fully up to date, so I thought it might have something to do with the graphics card.
Anyway, thanks for the assistance, and I apologize for asking a question that has probably been answered several times. I searched through several posts, I couldn't find any answers to my problem.

Despite all of these helpful posts from the community, I'm still coming up short. I'm attempting to update my ATI Radeon HD 6770m driver on windows 7 64-bit. I've followed this guide:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3866652?start=0&tstart=0
(third post down) - I also use Drive Sweeper after using CCCleaner and device manager uninstall.
Every time I attempt to install the driver after rebooting, I receive an error message stating "Driver install: the INF file was not found" with a log stating that the driver failed to install upon completion.
When I attempt to use control panel>Device Manager>Display Adapters>Update Driver Software>Browse My Computer For Driver Software and then choose the appropriate file path (including subfolders) or by choosing from a list of device drivers and selecting one of the two inf files in c:/amd/support/12-2_mobility../packages/drivers/display/w76a_inf, I receive the following error message:
"Windows Encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device
Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
    AMD Radeon HD 6700m Series
There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.
If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software."
I'm hitting nothing but dead ends here. I just want to play SWTOR with an updated driver!
Please provide a detailed, step-by-step solution (if you have one). It is not safe to assume that I have any experience regarding graphics drivers or running windows in bootcamp. Thanks in advance.

  • Satellite L500D-16L update graphics card drivers

I'm trying to play Harry Potter 1-4 on my laptop but it hasn't installed properly and bugs in the 1st scene. I contacted the game manufacturers about it and they told me to update my graphics card drivers but I can't find where they are on this site. Does anyone know how and where I can update the drivers?

    Hi mate
All Toshiba drivers can be found on the Toshiba European driver page:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com
Satellite L500D-16L belongs to the PSLT9E series.
You will have to choose this in order to get all drivers for the notebook.
But in many cases the driver versions are not similar to the latest versions available on graphic card manufacturer pages.
The point it that Toshiba drivers are modified and released fro mobile usage the ATI/NVidia drivers dont support overheating protection which helps to control the GPU temperature.
So usage of such drivers is always at you own risk

    Hi TIMOWN,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I am sorry to hear the your FPS has dropped so low after updating your Graphics card. I will try my best to help you with this. I suspect that you had a bad update and would suggest rolling back the driver to the previous version.
The steps to rolling back a driver are in this document for Device Manager Information for Windows 8.
I hope this helps, please let me know how it goes.
Good luck and have a great day!

You don't need to care about graphic driver on Mac OSX. It includes in OSX and run the driver your MacBook need.

  • HP 15 Special Edition p000 - How do I update the graphics card?

received this message trying to run Windows movie maker. Cannot see the video i was editing. It worked before...Can i update the graphics card online? please help link me....or do i have to buy a new card and get it installed

    Hi @DP21 ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
It is a wonderful place to find answers and ideas!
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More
I see from your post that you are unable to run Windows Movie Maker 2012 as you receive an error that your graphic card only  support  Direct X 9.
You can run the HP Support Assistant  to look for updates.
I am unsure if this is your exact model or not but here is the  link to the driver page  HP Beats Special Edition 15z-p000 CTO Notebook PC Drivers
As this is a CTO model I can not pull up your exact build information.  If you would private message me with your serial number I will try to obtain your exact specifications.  Do not post it in the public forum as it is private information and would be in violation of the rules.
Have you done all your Windows updates as Direct X is a microsoft program.
    I hope this helps

  • MSI Gx700 ex edition Graphics card drivers

Hi, I am having trouble installing the latest version of Nvidia's graphics card drivers for my gx 700's 8600M GT, seen as though I am currently running on some drivers from 2007, when I come to try and install the driver it says it cannot detect any hard-ware that is compatible with the software even though that is the one that was recommended to me by Nvidia! The version I am trying to install is version 186.81 the version I currently have has a date of 01/11/2007 and is version 7.15.11.5680
I don't know all my system info but here goes.
    Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 @ 2.2 Ghz
Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT w/ 512 MB RAM
    2 GB System RAM
Windows Vista 32 bit with SP2
    Any help would be appreciated

MSI doesn't update drivers unless there is a reason to do so.
Just because nVidia releases a new driver package doesn't mean the drivers are updated at all.
What I don't get, if you need the latest, then it's obvious you need it for gaming, but then you would have upgraded to Windows7 as that's better for gaming.
Or you are doing an upgrade for no reason, but such is silly.
For these onboard-chips, nVidia decided NOT to release generic drivers.
Why? Is a mystery to all of use, but nVidia does a lot of strange stuff the last couple of years.

  • Updating iMac graphics card.

I've never updated my graphics card and I think its about time I did so. Does anyone know how I can go about this? I tried updating through "about this mac" but that doesnt update anything. If somone can point me in the right direction that would be great. Also if somone could tell me how I can find out what my graphics card is I need to know that.

A graphics card is a piece of hardware. Usually the drivers for that hardware are never updated, not explicitly anyway.
The card type can be found under  About this Mac > More Info > Hardware; Graphics.
MacPros have removable cards that are potentially upgradable but with iMacs they are fixed and cannot be changed.

  • Display Problems After Installing Graphics Card Drivers

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help with a problem that's got me stumped?
I've just upgraded my pc (CPU, Motherboard, Memory, Hard Drive, Sound Card, Monitor) - the only things that haven't changed are my graphics card and PSU.
I've built the system, installed windows and the motherboard drivers, which all work correctly.  But after I install the graphics card drivers and reboot, the display becomes all scrambled when it loads into windows.  The display is fine with the initial boot and up until the Windows XP screen, with the moving bar comes up.
The graphics card was fine in my previous system and I have tried my old monitor, but neither works.  I've updated the BIOS, using the MSI Live Update program and have also tried various versions of the nVidia drivers (including the latest).
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    ****UPDATE****
I've now managed to install the nVidia drivers and now windows loads normally, but after a short amount of time the screen scrambles again.

I have the same problem. It happened right after I installed the graphics update. When the computer restarted, my screen went crazy. I couldn't see anything, just a screen full of horizontal lines. After restarting a couple of times it seemed to go away, but it has begun to happen again recently. although not as bad yet. I am not saying it's not a logic board issue, but it does seem funny that more than one person is experiencing the same type of problem after the graphics update. I guess it's time to take a trip to the apple store.

  • Chief Architect with macbook graphics card

I am trying to find a new computer for my dad to use as a business computer. He builds houses and wants a computer that can handle Chief Architect, but wants a computer that wont break down in a year due to hardware problems (AKA - DELL/HP)
I want to know if Chief Architect will run ok with the macbook graphics card, since this computer is in his price range.
Details: this is a windows program, and I was planning on using bootcamp to enable him to run this on his mac, and he would do everything else on the mac side.
    System requirements for the program:
    • Windows 98, 2000, or XP
    • 2 GHz processor, or greater.
    • At least 2 GB available hard disk space.
    • A video card with OpenGL hardware acceleration that has 32 MB of memory or greater.
This program has the capabilities of creating a 3D view of the house and record a 3D walk through of the house.
With the Macbook graphics card, will this run smoothly? And what is OpenGL? Is this vital, if so does mac have it?

You may already have made a decision and a purchase. If you have, I'd like to know what you chose, because I 'm in much the same situation as your dad. If not, I can tell you that my PC program, which ran agonizingly slowly under now ancient Virtual PC and Windows 98 on my old Powermac, ran fine on a friend's HP with integrated graphics (that is, with no separate, dedicated graphics card). So I suspect it would run even better on the Macbook, which is much faster than the HP was and has better intergrated graphics. However before I buy I will take the program and an elaborate architectural file to an Apple store and ask if they will let me test it on a Macbook. Clearly a Macbook Pro would be more than enough, and while I'd like one, I doubt I need one.

  • Can I update my graphics card?

NOTE: By updating my graphics card, I do not mean getting a new one - I mean installing a some software to put my graphics card up to date.
Hey all. I need to now if I can update my card, cause if not, I can't play a certain game. Would love some help on this - Thanks!

Install a RAM upgrade, other than that no.
Intense "reality" games are not, in general, intended for Macs.

  • How to update graphics card drivers for late 2008 macbook pro with Nvidia 9600m GT?

Can anybody help me update the drivers for my 9600m GT graphics card for my Late 2008 Macbook pro? I am running OS X Lion 10.7.5 with a Windows 7 partition. I have tried finding support on Nvidia's website, but at least for the 9600m GT, it isn't supported for my operating system. Would I have to update it from my Windows side? And if so, would the update apply to my OS X side as well? I have a little computer knowledge, but nothing indepth.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
In OS X, Apple provides the GPU drivers and you cannot update them from NVIDIA. They are updated with each OS X update, so you are running the most recent drivers for your OS X version. OS X Mountain Lion and Mavericks have got more recent GPU drivers, but it's not worth upgrading unless you need newer drivers for an app (I highly doubt this).
However, you can update the GPU drivers in Windows, and you should do it to get the best performance. You can download them from the NVIDIA site > http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us Note that drivers are only applied in the operating system you are installing them, so they will not be installed in OS X

  • Updating Graphics Card Drivers

Hello there, I have a HP Pavillion dv7 Notebook with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit that I built using HP.com. However when I try to play certain games (such as GTA: San Andreas and Toribash) there seems to be a problem with the graphics card, and have been told by others to update my drivers. I have an Intel HD Graphics card but I can't seem to find a way to actually update the drivers. I have tried Hp.com, Intel.com, and even ATI Technologies Inc. (The manufacturer) but none of them seem to be able to update the drivers. Does anyone know of a way to update the drivers for an Intel HD Graphics card?
PS. This is what the game "Toribash" looks like when I start it up, definitely something wrong : There's Something Wrong Here

  • The MacBook graphics card.

The current MacBook for sale has a GMA X3100 graphics card. Battlefield 2142's system requirements say that the game will not run on a GMA950 graphics card. So will Battlefield 2142 run on the current MacBook?

Probably not. The X3100 is slightly faster than the older 950. Troubles with the Apple drivers are making a comparison between the two hard at the moment, and things may improve slightly with time.
Frame rates, even at lower than native resolutions are poor (like 10-20 frames per second on games like Quake 4).
This link will give you some idea of how slight the improvement is: http://www.barefeats.com/mbook2.html
