Updating master data from WEB UI

Hi experts,
Is it possible to change the partner attributes such as e-mail, box no, phone, etc from CRM WEB UI?
I am planning to create an admin to where he can change the partner details in WEB UI. My assumption is the master data/attributes of partner cannot be change in CRM except in HR system. what could be posible. what not. Please suggest me the best.

Hi Chand,
I am not an expert. But will contribute to your question.
You can use the transaction Launcher concept to tie the transaction of changing the HR Master Data with CRM Web UI. Using this you will be able to call the call the transaction in SAP ECC to change the HR master data from CRM Web UI. Assign this to the required navigation bar profile. This will resolve your issue.

In the R/3 source system, there a few new company code.
I have run an infopackage to full update Datasource 0COMP_CODE_ATTR. But when I display data, the new company code is not there.
I also run rsattr, and selected all the infoObject list. But i still can't see the new company code.
May I know how to extract the new company code from R/3 to BI?
What are the steps?

Hello
Check if the DTPs ran and the monitor turns green. The monitor in DTP also tells you how many records are processed.
After that run the Attribute change Run.
In general the steps to load master data from R/3 are:
1. Execute InfoPackage
2. Run DTP
3. Run Attribute Change Run
If the company code still does not show check the tables (P & M tables) to see if the data is there and in active version.

Update Master Data from OSD

Hi experts,
I have a problem.
I have a master data (infoobject as cube) with FIELD1 FIELD2 as KEY and some attributes (no text).
I want to update one attribute of this master data from a characteristic of OSD (same key).
The problem is that when I execute the DTP in the transformation RULES, an error appears because the register already exist and it doesnt modify the attribut.
What can i do?

You have to do a initial download in order to connect both systems and make data transfer process available.
You can guide from SAP best practices allocated in:

Updating master data for time dimensions from front end

Hi Experts,
I am sure this must be handled in a very straight forward way. Just want to know the best practice here. We are working on a copy of appset and want to completely revamp the time dimension papers as per client's fiscal year which is april to march every year.
When we have deleted all the existing memebers from the time dimension master data from BPC front end and replaced with new memebers, the task is getting completed successfully.
But when I check back in BI for the master data, it has not replaced all the existing members. How best to handle this?
The transaction data is deleted from all the application cubes. Are there any checks to be performed?

Issue while loading master data from BI to BPC

Dear All,
I am loading master data from BI to BPC using the process chain /CPMB/IMPORT_IOBJ_MASTER. I ran the package and package status was success. But few member ID's which are available in BI are not getting loaded in BPC. Nearly I have 1300 ID's in BI. Out of 1300,only 1270 ID's are loaded in BPC.
I haven't restrict any ID's using conversion file as well.
What could be the reason? How can I overcome this and load all member's ID in BPC?

Whats the write mode you have chosen for the CPMB/IMPORT_IOBJ_MASTER chain ?
Check if you have the Update mode ..

This is the procedure.
1. Create m-data with or without attributes.
2. Create infosource .
    a) with flexible update
         or
    b) with direct update
3. Create transfer rules and assign tyhe names of m-data and attribute in "Transfer rules" tab and transfer them to communication structure.
4. Create the flat-file with same stucture as communication structure.
5. if chosen direct update then create infopackage and assign the name of flat-file and schedule it.
6. if chosen flexible update the create update rule with assigning name of the infosource and the schedule it by creating infopackage.

Unable to extract Customer Master data from MDC

We creating an MDM-XI-ERP2005 Customer scenario. We want to work with all bussiness scenarios (not customizing scenario).
First I'm trying to extract Customer Master Data from EP 2005 using MDM_CLNT_EXTR.
I have created a New Variant which properties are:
Variant: CUSTOMER_TOTAL
Description: Send all customer data to MDM
Extraction Object: CUSTOMER_EXTRACT.
Target System: PI7.
But, the display jobs shows the following error: Could not determine recipients for message type MDMRECEIPT. Job cancelled after system exception.
We need to focus the problem. We have done the following ALE configuration.
SALE transaction:
In Basic Settings -> Logical Systems -> Define Logical System we have add the following logical systems:
              EUS100
              MDM: Master Data Management
              PI7: Process Integration 7.0
WE21:
Transactional RFC -> PI7, IDOC record types SAP Release 4.x
RFC destination: SAPSLDAPI
BD64
New Model -> PFMC
Add message type: Model iview: PFMC
                             Sender: EUS100
                              Receiver: PI7
                             Message Type: DEBMDM
WE20 transaction shows:
Partner profiles -> Partner Type LS (logical system)
                    PI7: Outbound parmtrs. DEBMDM, SYNCH.

Sorry because I made a mistake in my previous message. ALE seems to be correctly configured. I'll try to update correctly my current situation:
In WE02 I can see al IDOCs that I'm trying to send to XI. All them have the IDoc Status = 3 (Data Passed to Port OK) instead of 12 Status Dispatch OK :(. So, It seems an tRFC error.
SM58 shows me more trails: "Basic type 'DEBMDM06' is unknown"
before that I have done the following steps at SAP ERP:
    1. WE21: I have created a PI7 port with 700PI70CLNT RFC.
    2. SM59: I have checked successfully 700PI70CLNT RFC connection.
    3. WE20: I have created a PI7 Partner Type LS with the following inbound and outbound parameters: DEBMDM and MDMRECEIPT.
    4. BD64: I have created a Distribution Model with DEBMDM and MDMRECEIPT message types.
and at SAP PI:
     5.IDX: Port: SAPEUS. Client: 111. RFC Destination: PI7.
     6. technical and business system for sender SAP system(System Landscape Directory)...
- Maybe some of the previous steps is not correct....
- Is RFC Destination = PI7 is correct in step #5?
- Is also necessary to configure more steps in PI system like RFC destinations or Transactional port?
- I have read that is neccessary to check that the option "transfer idoc immediately" in we20. How?

Master data from transaction data

Hi All,
I am getting data from R/3. I am also getting data from another web based application which takes its basic master data from R/3.
Now from the transaction data from the web based application(coming to BW as flat file), I am getting a field Material Class ID which desnot exist in R/3. Can I get the data of this field as master data in BW and that too as mapped to the Material from R/3.
That is to say: can I get the Material Class ID data as master data in relation to Material from R/3?
If anyone has any idea regarding this, please help me. Thanks in advance.

Not sure i understand you properly..but,
If Material and Material Class ID has the same 'meaning' then with conversions or without conversions.. you can store in the same 'material'.
But if they are differed and you have got a reference data availble you can create a attribute as mentioned and map material and material class id. So
1) Create only Material Class ID and LOAD this master data first from flat file.
2) Enhance the material master data to add this as new attribute.
3) Load the material master data and while loading fetch the material class id in the routine with the reference rules..

How to handle/extract Hierarchies in master data from R3

Hi Experts!!!
Iu2019m currently working on HR Implementation project and this is my first project. Implementation is being done in BI 7.0 and ECC 6.0. I have some queries regarding the extraction of master data from R3 as furnished below.
1. By default all the datasources are in 3.x technology and Iu2019ve migrated all the datasources with export and successfully performed InfoPackages and DTPS into their respective InfoObjects/Data targets. But when it comes to the masterdata datasources with hierarchies, Iu2019m unable to migrate them as there is no MIGRATE option in the context menu. When I tried to create infopackage, it asked me to create Transfer rules first and perform InfoPackage. Is it mandatory to work in 3.x technology (Transfer rules/ Update rules) in case of master data hierarchies? In this case how to handle datasources with hierarchies?
2. Is it required to have any data staging component like DSO while extracting master data datasources from SAP R/3 to their respective InfoObjects (Data targets)?? Or can I directly schedule Infopackage and DTP directly into the InfoObject with out any DSOS in between for HR master data??

all DataSource that are created in BI 7.0 are new design, master data attribute, text and transaction DataSource can all be created in the new BI 7.0, but for hierarchy DataSource, it remains as 3.X, if you double click on the Hier DataSource, you will see the title "...Emulated 3.X ...", so the DataSource should be working perfectly fine except it is in "Modified" version, i believe it is just SAP has not or can't a way to upgrade hier DataSource.
Also,
RSDS doesnt support hierarchy datasources in BI 7.0. So we cannot use transformations and DTP with hierarchy. So it is very similar to the way we used to load it in 3.x.

Flexible update master data inconsistencies

Dear experts,
I have the following issue with flexible update master data for 0employee.
0employee is getting loaded from 3 different sources. here is the example below;
employee address   phone compcode
1                germany   123
1                denmark                001
1                UK
here employee is a key for 0employee what happens to above data after attribute change run.
can any one let me know what will be final results. my requirement is i have to get company code at any circumstances. it there a proper sequence of load to be followed in this case. your inputs is highly appreciated with points.

If 0employee gets data from 3 different sources it will overwrite the existing records when same employee '1' is coming from Germany , Den , UK .. Only the recent record will be availble in MD tables..
You need to add SOURCESYSTEM as compounding object to 0EMPLOYEE.
Put constant GE for 0SOURCE SYSTEM in transformations
constant Den for 0SOURCE SYSTEM in transformations
constant UK for 0SOURCE SYSTEM in transformations
when you execute MD
Source system ...employee address phone compcode
GE.............................1...................... germany.... 123
Den.............................1...................... Denmark.... 123
UK.............................1......................UK .............. 123

RDA method to extract MAster Data from R/3

We need to implement the way to extract the Master Data from R/3 As soon as it available in R/3, but it's not like the new MAster Data is loaded in R/3 every 5 minutes, it's more like 3 o 4 times a month and i thought about RDA method, just wanted to see you opinion on wheather it is a good option for such an infrequent loads to BW
Does this DAEMON eats a lot of system resources? Pleas if the answer could be provided by someone who actually use RDA, it be great!

We use RDA for systems where the load is very frequent, but a Process Chain would do the required in your case as the data gets updated only a few times in a month.
RDA will be occupied in the Background Process, so that would create some problems. And it keeps on chiecking for new data.
I feel its unnecessary. So, go for Process Chains

Nope SSRS doesnt have write back options. Its just a reporting tool
However one thing you can do is to link a webpage from SSRS report and do the changes through it
SSRS has the ability to navigate to web page through which you can capture any data inputs from users and save it to your db.

Loading hirarchy master data from flat file to BW

i am new to BW Environment, thanks in advance for the Forum.
while loading hierarchy master data from the flat file to BW, i am getting an error as follow
WITH AN OPEN SQL SELECT, THE OUT PUT AREA USED TO HOLD THE SELECTED RECORDS MUST BE ATLEAST AS WIDE AS THE DATABASE TABLE FROM WHICH RECORDS ARE BEING READ.
IN THIS CASE , THE DATABASE TABLE IS 167 BYTES WIDE, BUT THE OUT PUT AREA IS ONLY 141 BYTES WIDE
pl's any one can help how to solve this problem.

1 activate 0Material from R3 side this datasource corresponds has the extract.struct. BIW_MARA_S correponding to material master data (what you need)
2 install 0Material from business content
3 replicate in BW
4 assign your datasource 0material_attr to the infosource 0material_Attr if flexible or create an infosource with direct update
5 activate transfer rules (if flexible)
6 create update rules from 0material to your infosource (if flexible)
7 create an Infopackage, launch the job and check the monitor to see if the upload works.
