Updating mavericks 10.9.5 turns wifi into Yosemite crap
After updating Mavericks to 10.9.5, wifi problems start to resemble Yosimite's wifi problems. Instead of getting better results with apple's software upgrades, wifi connection drops more frequently. It's getting to the point where things become annoying and frustrating. I purposely did not want to upgrade to Yosemite because of the wifi bug that everyone is experiencing for many months. But now in Maverick after the last upgrade, things are becoming more like Yosemite.
Is apple gonna do anything about this? Or we just have to follow all possible instructions from the net, and still experience wifi droppings for Mavericks and Yosemite?
I have tried many possible ways to fix Yosemite - http://osxdaily.com/2014/10/25/fix-wi-fi-problems-os-x-yosemite/, but connection still drops very very frequently.
Now on my other machine running Mavericks, things are looking the same, wifi drops very frequently, I have to switch off and on the wifi about 20 times daily.
APPLE do you have a fix for Mavericks and Yosemite WIFI PROBLEMS ??????
1. Its too bad apple dont monitor these forums, or maybe they do, but they just dont know how to fix the wifi issue that everyone is experiencing, and has been going on for a long time. Thanks for the feedback link, i have wrote a few of them in the past and im sure everyone else hv written feedback about wifi.
2. I use a router from isp and also tried airport express. I dont think its a router issue becoz i have used this same router for a year and on my macmini running mountain lion, wifi never drops. And when i travel, using macbookpro running mavericks, wifi drops, and surely its not an option to use an airport extreme when traveling or at a friends home...i mean we cannot replace routers everywhere we go, those cheap routers still work with other computers, even mountain lion. Its the expensive computers that needs improvements, but obviously the latest updates for mavericks made it like a crappy yosemite. One thing i notice is apple really improve their way of marketing their products, their advertisements are looking very nice now.
I think replacing routers is not a solution, the only solution right now is to switch off wifi and switching back on again and again, thanks to the sophisticated innovation from apples yosimite and latest mavericks. Today i have done that about 20x.

This is the only thing that worked for me.
1. Go to System Preferences and open 'Network' - or click your wifi triangle along the top tool bar and select 'open network preferences'.
2. Click your wifi on the left hand side from the list, and then click the small cog at the bottom of that box, and click 'Make Service Inactive'.
3. Once you've done that, click the minus to delete your wifi as an option from this box.
4. APPLY!!
All other instructions I read said to click the plus and add your wifi again and then restart. Well that did nothing for me, infact it did nothing about 7 or 8 times, soooooo...
5. Restart your computer now, without any wifi configuration setup.
6. Once restarted, go back into system preferences, into network, and use the + button to add a wifi connection back into your computer. With any luck, you will be able to click on 'Turn wifi on' and it will actually work! -
When I try to reorder different pages it just takes all the pages within the document and turns them into a stack! Why is this happening and how can I oder pages as the update is meant to let me?

It is not Pages '09 that is broken.
I am back in Mavericks and testing Pages 5.2.
There are improvements, we shall see how useful, but in less than a minute I have already discovered bugs.

I updated my iPhone with the new update..and then it turned off...instead of turning back on it tells me to plug it into iTunes..and when I do iTunes tells me that my phone is in recovery mode and needs to be restored..is there anything I can do without restoring it?
Same thing happened here ~ tech guy at a local authorized Apple repair store said it had something to do with improper backup from which the restore would be made. Still have a phone that asks to be connected to Itunes but won't do anything else . . . frustrated.

when i was scrolling through my camera role today before i updated and like 100 + pictures turned into a picture thats white then says PNG. Cant see the picture. What should i do?

Internet not working after mountain lion update, have to keep turning wifi off and on

System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.

System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

I was thinking that there might be a network reset option on my Snow Leopard Mac Book, like I've had a to do a time or two on my iOS devices that suddenly stop seeing the internet. Since I didn't know what that is, I set up a clean TEST user account. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to change anything, so perhaps the internet network settings are global. Any ideas how to reset the network settings and clear them out completely?
Hard to believe that there could be something so different between Mavericks and Snow Leopard as far as common network protocols are concerned that allows one to be plug and play and the other to connect to the network but not see the internet. Could it be the hardware? A 2007 MacBook vs. a 2011 MacBook Pro? -
OS X Mavericks v10.9.4 Update still does not fix the wifi shut off in sleep mode problem
OS X Mavericks v10.9.4 Update was supposed to fix the wifi connectivity problem with my iMac. Wifi disconnects in sleep mode and does not connect when awakened. Must reconnect manually every time. PITA.
Your observation is correct about wifi disconnection in sleep mode. That is normal, you may want to check to see if your Mac supports Power Nap/is enabled- OS X: About Power Nap
The reconnect should be automatic within a few seconds.
Does it happen with multiple wifi networks or just one?
Have you tried deleting and re-adding the wifi network? -
After recent update to OS on iMac, communication to airport is lost when computer goes to sleep. To reestablish connection, I need to turn wifi off then on.

i have a time capsule.
symptoms:
excessively searching for network
but more often than not, it cant find the correct netowrk that is correctly stored in keychain
if i try network assistant opened through safari not finding its page, then it can find the right network after i enter in the password again. it connects. but only for a few seconds then it loses the connection again.
the only fool proof workaround for me is:
1/ shut down time capsule. restart time capsule.
2/ restart mac with airport turned off.
3/ after restart manually select the network from the wireless icon in the menu bar
airport utility is a complete waste of time
old airport utility is still better. -
My 5C has just done the most recent update, yet I can't turn it on without it being plugged into iTunes through a laptop. However, I don't have iTunes on my laptop because it's my school one. Ideas please?
If you are seeing the USB cord and iTunes icons on your screen something has gone wrong with the update. You will have to restore your iPhone. The only way to do this is to connect the phone to your computer that is running iTunes.

after the update to iOS 7.0 my wifi doesn't allow to be turned on.
Well, I've never paid that much attention to it, since I use the Touch ID on my 5S. I just purposely just clicked the home button and there does seem to be a delay, but again I can't be sure about before. I have had no issues with my device, so I'm guessing here, but it doesn't seem to make any difference, since I can actually slide it without that phrase even being on the screen.

The reapair shop is probably responsible. And now that you took it to a third party and not to apple store, Apple will not touch your phone at all. So you will probaly have to buy a new one or go back to the reapir shop and hope they can fix it.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

TS1398 New iPad update now left me with temperamental wifi signal

since updating my new iPad I seem to have a very unpredictable wifi signal. It drops in and out like a yoyo and it doesn't seem to matter if I restart the iPad, turn wifi off then off. I've updated my router and no other wifi product has this problem, just my iPad! It's has left it virtually useless. Anyone have any ideas?Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

I updated the IPAD with the latest update and now when I turned the IPAD on, I get the itunes logo and then nothing else. How can I fix this to let me use my IPAD?
YOU ARE IN RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary.
