Updating my mac & itunes on a mac
I'm on my apple computer, I can't update to IOS 7 on the computer. On the same computer, I can't update my itunes because it says I don't have a connection to my server. This has been over 2 hours now and I'm ready to get rid of anything Apple
What am I supposed to do? Now I can't sync my new 5s to my mac.
Patience, Patience.
Ok I noticeded in Activity Monitor that even though iTunes was in red ( Not Responding) mode the %CPU was changing after about 10 to 15 minutes I was able to finally see the information in the Photos tab. YEA! So lesson learned is that even though Activity Monitor says in RED ( Not Responding) wait, wait awhile to see if program may resuscitate itself.
I was able to check on just the Selected folders and chose a few files.
Big mistake.
Those few files took ten or fifteen minutes to complete.
I will try to reboot all devices again and see what happens.

How do I update my existing Itunes to 11.1 on my phone and mac? Thanks
How do I update my existing Itunes to 11.1 on my phone and mac? Thanks
The 11.1 update I believe is only for OS X and not IOS. Look for the update in the Mac App Store/Updates or System Preferences/Software Update. To be safe, make sure you backup your system first.

Mac Book Software Update not working (Software Update does not have any new software for your computer at this time), my current MacBook version is 10.5.8.
As a result I can't update iTunes, version 10.5.2 (This software requiers Mac OS X version 10.6.8 or later)
Now when I connect my iPhone 4, version iOS 6 iTunes can't connect to iPhone (The iPhone "XXXXX's iPhone" cannot be used because it requiers iTunes version 10.6.3 or later.)
so in a nutshell can't use iphone 4, because iTune is not updated and will not update because Mac Book is not up to date and will not update either.
Please help.
Thank you

I have just updated my Mac Mini Server (Mid 2011) to OS Yosemite ver 10.10, after the update, iTunes is not working, and i have tried to reinstall iTunes over and over again but it was not successful , please advise if you have a solution or share similar problems. Thank you.
You have to upgrade to 10.6.8 to be able to download iTunes 10.7 or 11. The 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD is in the Apple online store. You can get it for $19.99. You will need to be running 10.6.8 to access the App Store to order Lion or Mountain Lion. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
First we need to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
The Early 2006 model 1,1 Core Duo can only run a maximum of 10.6 Snow Leopard.
The models Late 2006 Core 2 Duos 2,1 through Early 2008 4,1 can only run a maximum of 10.7 Lion.
The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody through the Mid 2010 White Unibody model 7,1 can run 10.8 Mountain Lion. -
My husband bought an iPad 2. I have a Mac. ITunes is in my name but I have turned sharing on. When we updated to OS5 we lost all the free apps that he downloaded in his user name. Is there no way to update using my iTunes without losing his software. He is frustrated using the iPad because he never knows whether to use his user name or my user name.
Apps are only tied to one account... You can set up two iTunes accounts on your computer, however, and let his iPad sync to his account. If he has never backed up his apps to a computer, however, he will have to redownload all the apps. Afterwards, he can backup to iCloud instead of your computer.

There is no free download to 10.5? I was able to download a 10.5.1 but that wasn't helpful since it required a 10.5 to be downloaded first. Any suggestions?
As provided twice.
You MUST buy the upgrade.
It is never free to update to a new OS. -
....desperating trying to install itunes 10.7, but it asked me to install Mac OS X 10.6.8. I did, but then it said that I needed to install Java for Mac OS x 10.6. I did that and now it keeps saying 'this update requires Mac OS X version 10.6??
Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
Snow Leopard General Requirements
1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
2. 1GB of memory
3. 5GB of available disk space
4. DVD drive for installation
5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
fees may apply.
6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and
terms apply.
Actually, you cannot download Snow Leopard. You downloaded a Snow Leopard updater. -
To update my Itunes to the 10.7 or later, it says I need to update my mac. When i go to update my mac, it says that there is not one available. How do I fix this?
What Mac OS X version do you have? You can go to > About this Mac and find the version. If you don't have Mac OS X 10.6.8 or later, you'll need to update to that and then your iTunes will update. http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1400 <=== that is the link to purchase the 10.6.8 update

HT4623 how do i update my mac book with the latest version of itunes?
Hi all, can anyone help me with updating my Mac Book with the latest itunes. I'm a bit old school and usually stick to same programs but now need to update?? Cheers!!
Make a backup of your computer first before doing any updates. In rare but unfortunate cases an update seems to result (from what the people posting here say) in libraries being deleted. Then too, sometimes people update and discover they really don't like the new version. Downgrading without a backup is difficult. In the long run you can't avoid going to a newer version but I, for example, have been running the same iTunes version for 7 years now so it is possible to hang on.
You also don't provide details about your MacBook which includes many models. If you are truly old school you could even be running a MacBook that can't update to the newest, or at least may require other software or hardware upgrades. Get more information about your computer. Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then "About This Mac". Write down what it says about "version"and report that here. Now continue to "More Info..." Copy and paste the information here, but omit the serial number and Hardware UUID (if present). -
I cant update my mac book itunes to 11.01
I have a 2009 mac book and i cant updaye my mac book itunes 11.01
Hi there Amy,
You may want to take a look at the article titled "Troubleshooting Mac OS X installation and software updates (Mac OS X v10.6 and earlier)"
There is a specific section that includes this information:
Software Updates for Mac OS X and Apple applications for Mac OS X are often available in different ways:
Software Update preferences
Standalone installer from Apple Downloads.
Try getting the software from a different source, or download it again.
Hope that helps,

I had just updated my Mac to 10.6.1. When it finished, I had tried to open up Itunes but it says it requires 10.6.8 or later. When i had tried to update my mac it asked for my adiminstartor password. I dont know my password. Any way to reset it without using a disc?
Sure there is.
1. restart your computer in Single User Mode (by pressing Command + S during boot - see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1492)
This will boot your OS X system in a kind of command line mode.
Note: this will not work if you have a Firmware password set.
2. when in Single User Mode, enter the following command
mount -uw /
to mount your OS X file system.
3. now you can enter the following command
passwd username
replacing "username" by your OS X user's short name. Then you will be prompted to enter the new password for that user. You will have to confirm that new password.
Note that you will not see any character showing when you enter the new password; this is expected behaviour. -
