hello guys,can anyone help me update ma 6500.my current software version is 06.60.rm 240.i downloaded the software updater and installed it.but when i am trying to use it to update my phone they are showing that critical software components are missing.i ve known dat the latest version iss the v08

it might be that the WEB settings are wrong, you have to contact your service provider, they usually send you these settings the sms to be saved and used.
some operators offer these settings through their web sites so make sure you check your operator's site first.
when you do so, and before saving the new settings i advise you to delete all old WEB access points you have on the device.

Nokia 6500 slide problem after updated to firmware...

Hi, I have recently updated my nokia 6500 slide with the latest firmware version 9.40. I realise that after the upgrade, my phone encounters problem reading the SD memory card. It happens intermittently, sometimes you see, sometimes you don't. Initially I thought it was due to my memory card but after replacing it with a new one, problem still occurs.

It looks like something on your system caused the updater to crash.
Unfortunately your only option for that model is to take it to a nokia care point for repair. Tere's nothing else that you can do for it.

Nokia 6500 slide - SMS writing language (chinese) ...

Hi,
Seek helps from all experts, I have recently updated my Nokia 6500 Slide firmware to 8.4. but unfortunately it cause some changes to my phone as the SMS writing language for Chinese characters has disappeared. Anyone could advise me on how to install it back to my phone?

Nokia 6500S Software Updater - PROBLEM

Hi, Everyone!
I was hoping that someone could give some assistance with a problem that I encountered with my brand-new Nokia 6500s (slider).
I purchased the item about 3 days ago. It's a beautiful phone with great functionality. But, I noticed that I was having some unexplained delays with SMSs. I would send an SMS and I would receive their responses 2+ hours late from the recipient.
So, I decided to update the phone's software with my PC using the Nokia Software Updater. I had used it before with my Nokia E70 with great ease.
I connected the 6500s with my PC via USD and connected with PC Suite and then started up the Nokia Software Updater. The phone had a full battery and the connection to PC Suite was recognized.
I was updating to 4.84. While updating, the phone's display went blank but the bottons were still illuminated and the update seemed to be proceeding normally. Then, at the 3-minute to completion point, I started hearing those MS XP sounds that indicate a USB device has been plugged in or removed, then the phone appeared to shut off. I thought it strange, then the Nokia Software Updater put up a screen that said "Connection with Phone Lost."
UGH! I immediately tried to power on the phone, but it seems it's now "dead." I have held the power botton for a long time, but it doesn't do anything.
Can anyone please let me know what can be done? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

The only way to get your phone working again is to visit a nokia care point/service centre. It will be covered under warranty (unless you have imported it) and they may be to fix it while you wait.

Nokia 6500 phone software update problem

i m having nokia 6500s-1. product key is 0556765. the software version is 4.04. now 7.62 version for 6500s is available. but my product key is not showing any upgrade version of phone software. again my phone sometimes hang and restart while talking. the theme also shift to default theme suddenly. what can i do ???

That is strange that calendar entries and personalised settings are not being restored to your phone after the update.
It is unlikely that Nokia will release another firmware update for the 6500 Slide. It was released in October 2006 or thereabouts, same as the 5610 XpressMusic, and with the release of newer models, the support cycle for the 6500 Slide has most likely ended with the release of the last update, 10.00, for unbranded product codes of the handset.

Nokia 6500 Slide dead after update

So, I updated to the latest firmware. Everything was fine until the phone restarted. Nokia Software update showed me that update last's for 15 minutes.. I waited. 15, 30.. And so, finally I gave up.
It updated too long, and I decided to try if my phone starts, because it had to restart, but it did not. Phone just shut down, and nothing else. Before attempting the update, I was sure that battery was almost full. So there were no battery alerts in this update.- I've tried to take battery out and keep it like this for 5 minutes. It helped, phone buttons lights and screen started to work, but after 5 seconds it shuts down automatically. So I tried to do this more and more, but it did not help at all.
After trying this battery out method for multiple times, phone went to very strange condition. I took the battery out, but screen and buttons were on. Like what the heck was that? Phone worked without battery on?
Before this awful update fail, my nokia was in perfect condition. No marks of damage or anything else, it was a well cared phone, so I personally think that the problem was not caused by hardware.
What should I do next? I really need my nokia right now.

You need to send it to your local Nokia Care Point. There is nothing else you can try yourself.

Nokia 6500 Slide Software Update

I purchased the Nokia 6500 Slide phone at Christmas. I was having a problem with receiving photos and telephoned Nokia. They asked me the version of software on the phone - think it's 3.8. I was told it needed updating to the 4.84 version. I was given the name of a local Nokia Engineer who would be able to do this for me. I have contacted the company and have been told that they would be happy to do this for me, but I would have to leave the phone with them for two days.
Having just read some comments on a website it seems the latest version is in fact 6.60 but there appear to be conflicting views on the software.
Can anyone please advise me whether I am safer sticking with the original software on the phone or having it updating to the 4.84 version - what are the advantages of the new software?

Nokia 6500 Classic\Slide Firmware version 8.30

I've recently installed firmware version 8.30 on my Nokia 6500 Slide, can anyone tell me what the changes are in this recent firmware version?
Can't find anywhere what has changed in this firmware update, also not with Google.

I have noticed a couple of things:
1) When taking pics it looks like it has fixed the bug I had that I could not use the middle button sometimes when taking pics (was only intermittent)
2) It has a really annoying message when fully charged to say 'remove charger to save energy' which is very annoying!

Synchronizing Contacts with Nokia 6500

I replaced my old Nokia 6230i with the Nokia 6500. The first time I got it, I immediatly synced my contacts to my new Nokia phone through Isync. Went pretty well, only 3 contacts gave problems. Now after a month on Holiday I tried to update (sync) my contacts but it won't anymore. It starts correctly and promising but halfway it stalls (like 87% done) then Isynch tells me: Something got wrong during retrieving information from phone. Syncing is probably canceled on the phone. There must be going something wrong on the way from phone to mac, but what if I want a one way sync?
Who has any tip how to get this going?

I tried that at first, but ended up flooding my phone with a whole lot of contacts that were (1) a duplicate of the ones on my phone and/or (2) were contacts with just emails and no phone numbers (as is the case for many of my outlook contacts).
My primary objective is to backup my mobile phone addressbook, so that if I lose the phone, I don't lose my important contacts. I was hoping to import mobile -> outlook first, clean up everything, then sync both.
But it seems even when I sync both ways, the Outlook updates my mobile, but not the other way around.
- could you create a new contacts folder in outlook and sync the contacts from phone to that empty folder ?
How do I do that? PC Suite only gives me an option "Microsoft Outlook" or "Outlook Express". It doesn't point to any particular folder.

Bricked nokia 6500 slide due to cable disconnectio...

well i was updating my old nokia 6500 slide and my computer randomly disconnected the phone making my phone go corrupted, so now whenever i turn it on all i see is a blank screen with a backlight, ive looked all over the internet for a fix and sadly i could not find one, so now im hoping somebody on this site can help me fix it.

blazekid your phone is bricked the only way to make it work again is to take it to Nokia care. Or remove your phone's battery and then re insert it after 5-10 minutes. If This doesn't work you have to do the First one.

Message receipt time is incorrect-nokia 6500

I have a nokia 6500 slide with me. The problem that I am facing is as follows-
Whenever I receive a message it shows incorrect timing.for example if a message has been sent at 2.30 pm it shows the message time as 7.45am.I have called up nokia care regarding this.They have asked me to go to menu>setting>date & time and change the-Auto-update of time as-OFF.Then restart the phone.
I did the same, but even then whenever I receive any message the time shoing in it is still improper.I have also tried restoring factory setting, but even that didnt work.

Press the Navigation key.
Scroll to Settings and press the Navigation key.
Scroll to Date and time and press the Navigation key.
Scroll to Date & time settings and press the Navigation key.
If you're in the UK - select the time-zone as GMT +2 (if your clock is 2 hours behind.
If it's 3 hours behind, select GMT + 3, and so on.
Once you do this, then save it, and go back in and manually change your time to the correct time.
Then again, options and save.
If the time isn't exactly on the hour, behind the correct time, then the handset needs software updated which should be available from the following link.
