Updating my plug-ins in CS5 Extended

I have downloaded Camera Raw 7.4 onto m mac (OS 10.7.5) in order to process .RAW files (from a Fuji X100S camera) using Photoshop CS5 Extended. When I try to process the files, it tells me the .RAW files are not supported. When I look in my plug-ins in PS I see it is still running an older version of Camera Raw. How can I change this preference so it runs my newly-downloaded version of Camera Raw?

Photoshop CS5 will only support up to Camera Raw 6.7. You will either have to upgrade your software or use the DNG converter.

To add to Mylenium's reply, here's how to do it on Windows and this is what microsoft website says:
Why do I have to be an administrator to install a program?
Only administrators can make changes that will affect everyone who uses the computer, such as installing software and hardware and changing security settings.
If the program you are trying to install or run says you  must have administrator rights, but you are already an administrator on the computer, right-click the installation icon for the program, and then click Run as administrator. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
If the program installs but does not run, right-click the program icon, click Properties, click the Compatibility tab, select the Run this program as an administrator check box, and then try to run the program.

  • How do I update my plug-ins, as prompted?

In installing Foxfire for the first time, I was prompted to update my plug-ins. When I click on "update," I get a window asking if I want to save this file. I click to save, then I get the original screen with the same plug-in and others still listed as needing to be updated. I seem to be going in circles here. What am I missing?

Some plugins may automatically update, but often the file you download will need to be saved then run (find it then double click, or rightclick and run) or if it is an .XPI filetype opened with firefox before the update takes place.
You may need to disable security software, and use an XP admin account rather than a limited user account.
    Have a look at

You should be able to update your plugins by visiting the above linked page.
The page should have instructions and links to other instructions.

How do I update my plug-ins at in design?

Probably you are working in an older version and are trying to open an INDD from a newer version.
Either upgrade to the same version or ask for an IDML file.
But you should inform us, which version you have and from which version the INDD comes from.

  • I need to update my plug-ins

I need to update my plug-ins. How do I do this? When I go to Help>Adobe Updater, it runs checks for updates but then it says "all updates cannot be determined at this time". What??

That depends on which version you each are using. InDesign has a "sort of" backwards compatibility feature called InDesign Interchange format, or .inx, to which you can export.
There are limitations, though. First, any unsupported features from the new version will be totally lost when you open in the older version. Second, you can only go back in one-version steps, you can't skip over from CS4 to CS2, for example, and there is nothing that can be done to open later files in versions 1 or 2. Third, the application used to open the .inx file should be patched to the last update available. Fourth, in addition to missing features, it's probable that your text will reflow due to changes in the text engines between versions, so the bottom line is there may be only a resemblance of the appearance to the original document. This is not a recommended workflow, particularly if the file is going to make a round-trip.

  • Outdated Camera Raw plug-in for CS5 Extended

As a long time user of ADOBE products, (Flash, Reader, Acrobat, Photodeluxe, and photoshop)  I was first introduced to PHOTODELUXE2 that came with a scanner. Got to like it, then over the years, I've had the opportunity to try out other PS titles like PS7, and the last version I have is the PS CS5 Extended, which I bought at a garage sale a few years ago.  Are these Photoshop programs only for the RICH AND FAMOUS?
I have cancer, and I am on disability, so for obvious reasons, and financially, I can not afford the $700.00 plus price tag for photoshop full licensed program. I have tried to open RAW photos from my Canon G6 Digital camera, but the plug-in needs to be updated. I also have a newer Canon SX50, that does have a RAW plug in, but that only works with this cameras photos, not my old CRW Images.
The G6 Raw plug-in was a 32-bit, that came with the Install Canon disc, but since changing my 32-bit OS to a WIN 7 64-bit, that plug-in no longer works, unless I get a hold of another XP 32Bit computer, and install it on that, which I do not wish to do,
Is there a third party Camera raw plugin that might open these G6 RAW files?  or do I have to buy the expensive full licensed program, which I can not afford? I have taken a photoshop Class at a local School, and received a 'Certificate of Completion", but as a student, I did not know at that time, that I could have got a discouted price for being a student, and looking back, it was still too expensive for me anyway, even at that price.
Since being diagnosed with cancer, I find myself at home all the time and enjoy editing photos for my self and family, I do not use this PS software for any financial gain, just self enjoyment, which takes my thoughts of having cancer away whenever I dabble.
I certainy appreciate the work that the Adobe developers go through, and I certainly do not want to take away from their livlihood buy using a product I bought for $15.00 for at a garage sale last year. But the CS6 Standard costs $700.00, or the CS6 Extended, at $1,000, what are my options?..I haven't won the lottery just yet.
i guess I'm looking for a Camera raw Plug-in to be able to open older CRW RAW Images. OR find a licensed PD CS5 Extended at a nominal price. Thank you for any help!  Sincerely, Jim

I think the G6 should be supported by camera raw in PS CS5.  You can download camera raw 6.7.1 -- the latest camera raw plugin for PS CS5 -- from  http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates.html
Scroll down to Camera Raw, click on Windows then download the 6.7.1 update.  Direct link:  http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Windows
PS CS5 usually installs both a 64-bit version and a 32-bit version on 64-bit systems.  You might look in your Win 7 program listing (Start key, then All Programs) where you should see both Adobe Photoshop CS5 and Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64-bit).  Your older 32-bit plugin that you used before might work with the 32-bit version of PS CS5.  Plugin would need to be installed in the 32-bit version only -- in C:\Program Files (x86).

  • Installing Old Plug-ins into CS5

Is it possible to install old plug-ins (plugins) into Adobe Photoshop CS5?
I have tried a couple of my old plug-ins and could not get any to show up under the Filters menu.
    I installed to:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Plug-ins
I tried installing Noise Ninja 2.3.2.
I tried installing Kodak GEM AIR Pro.
    I tried installing Phototune SkinTun.
No luck with any of them.
I also tried installing a couple to
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit)\Plug-ins\Filters

No one is likely to have a FIX, per se.
32 bit plug-ins only work with 32 bit Photoshop, while only 64 bit plug-ins work with 64 bit Photoshop.  I suspect the 32/64 bit mismatch may be at the root of the problem you're seeing, Hawaii-geek.
Plug-ins generally need to be installed in the new version of Photoshop.
For 32 bit plugins, maybe, just MAYBE, for an individual plugin you can find a way to copy the proper file(s) so that Photoshop CS5 will find them under its OWN Plug-ins subfolder.  Photoshop enumerates plugins it finds there when it first starts.  But this is not a given as a plug-in may set up things other than just the files when it is installed.
The one thing to remember is that you ABSOLUTELY MUST NOT point the "Extra Plug-ins Folder" at the Plug-ins folder of an old Photoshop installation.  Doing so will mix plugins supplied with the older Photoshop version with your new Photoshop version, and this WILL cause you problems.
HangtownGal is using that feature right.  For simple one-file plugins, you should be able to point every version of Photoshop to a common separate plug-ins folder, but keep in mind the 32 vs. 64 bit issue I mentioned above.  As Chris states, 32 bit Photoshop will only load 32 bit plug-ins, and 64 bit Photoshop will only load 64 bit plug-ins (which are reasonably rare still).  And keep in mind more complex plugins often are sets of files that are sometimes copied to a number of different places in the Photoshop installation area.
Why is it you think someone else needs to FIX this problem?
Did you not keep the installation package and/or instructions you got with your old plugins?  For those that cannot be installed into a Photoshop version that didn't even exist when they were released, have you checked to see if there are updates available from the plugin manufacturers?  You may very well have to pay to upgrade these.  You paid to upgrade Photoshop, so is that a problem?

Yahoo mail tool bar (delete, more, spam, etc) not working in firefox.Works in Explorer.Web search points to Mozilla update problem."Plug-ins" up to date. Solutions?
I've used firefox for years now with out problems. Now that help is needed, Could you make this any more frustrating? I thought I was asking Mozilla help and I'm sent to "users". I went there 1st! there are similar questions but no answers. I've lost time and data. Is there any REAL PEOPLE to help with firefox problems?

    I'm a real person, thanks.
If you mean, does Mozilla have paid staff you could phone or email, the answer is "No."
Is the problem with a feature of the Yahoo! mail web page itself, or the Yahoo! toolbar?
    General advice:
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * click the padlock or globe icon in the address bar > More Information > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
''If Firefox is not running:'' Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.
''If Firefox is running:'' You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    and OK the restart.
''Both scenarios:'' A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Refresh).
Any difference in how Yahoo! works?

  • Trouble installing third party plug-ins Illustrator CS5.1

    Hi,
I am running Mac OSX 10.5.8 and am using Illustrator CS5.1 via an Adobe subscription. I have repeatedly tried to install several plug-ins made by Astute Graphics (www.astutegraphics.com/). I download the file, double click on the .dmg folder and then double click on the installer icon. The installation process is quick, easy and completely automatic, and each time installation is confirmed "successful". But, the plug-ins' tools are nowhere to be found within Illustrator once I open the program, nor do any files appear in the Plug-ins folder. Just recently I downloaded and installed another company's plug-in without any difficulties, and the corresponding file appears in this same folder.
Any ideas what could be wrong? Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Mark

    Hi Monika,
Thanks again for taking the time In response to your post,
Normally the plugin files should be right inside your plugins folder inside the Illustrator program folder.
Yeah, but there's nothing there unfortunately. I have even does a search on the computer and only come up with the files inside the dmg disk folder, nothing else. So, if installation was successful where could the files have been installed? I just don't get it, I've even looked in the Photoshop Plug-ins folder and nothing.
Do you have different versions of Illustrator on your computer?
Do you run virus protection software? (This often disturbs installation processes)
No,  I have only this one version installed, and as I mentioned it's an Adobe subscription. Is it possible that because it's a subscription I'm having difficulties? Perhaps I'm limited in some ways because it's not a purchased product.
The tools themselves can be found in the tool panel in Illustrator. ColliderScribe consists of sub-tools under the select tool (black arrow - the icon should have a small triangle on the bottom right).
Yes, this is what they told me as well, but there's no submenu for the select tool. There is a submenu of the white arrow select tool though, but those tools are a part of Illustrator. As well, they mentioned that there would be a submenu under the Illustrator Menu, but there's nothing there either.
It's the most bizarre thing, the installation process is so simple and straightforward. I download the dmg file, double click on it and up appears the install icon, double click that and follow the procedure. I couldn't screw it up even if I wanted to, the process is completely automatic. Something appears to be blocking the installation process, I just have no idea what it could be. I paid for the ColliderScribe plug-in thinking that if I had the key up front it might help, but nothing.
I don't know what to say, I appreciate your time and assistance. I'd really like to purchase a few of the plug-ins, they look wonderful. I just wish I could get them work.
    Kind regards,
    Mark

  • Optional plug-ins for CS5

I downloaded the optional plug-ins to get the old-style Web Photo Gallery. I then copied this folder into (Windows XP) Program Files/Adobe Photoshop CS5/Plug-ins as well as /Plug-ins/Automate and also /Presets, and when I open CS5 it is not under File, Automate. Any ideas welcome, please.

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    Roman Olmezov wrote:
By the time, why it's excluded from base package? It is simple and weigh only less then 10 megabytes, is any reason to delete it from main installer?
Only Adobe can answer that for sure, but we users can guess that it's because they've judged that installing the software on every system would increase support cost, and/or perhaps they're trying to phase out support for those plugins, in which case they probably won't even be available for CS6 or some future release.

  • Importing 3rd party plug-ins into CS5

Coming from CS3, I've tried drag and drop but no joy.
How do I get my plug-ins/filters moved over - or do I have to continue to use CS3 if I want to use them???
It's been some time and I'm not sure I even have the original installers or not - it would take some real hunting around to find them if I did.  Some don't matter if I lose them, while many are used often.  There *should* be a simple drag and drop, migrate or import function for this - where is it?

They sort of say DON'T USE OLD 3rd party PLUG INS!
"As with all previous versions of Photoshop, don't copy old third-party plug-ins, or plug-ins from previous versions of Photoshop, into the Photoshop CS5 plug-ins folder.  If you have set the Additional Plug-Ins Folder in the Plug-Ins preferences to a folder, deselect this option."
Well where the heck are they supposed to go then?  :-/   Their installers put them in the Plug-Ins folder...
I found for the couple I really wanted to import, and tried, once in 32 bit mode on startup (Switch this under "Get Info" for those reading along) -  they worked just fine.  Yes, 64 bit would probably be better, but I suspect that in many cases 64 bit "upgrades" aren't free - even though the features are no different.
For now, for my needs, this works and has been solved - thanks!

  • How do I update InDesign plug-ins?

    Hello,
I'm fairly new to InDesign and a complete novice regarding plug-ins. I'm trying to open someone else's InDesign file I was given, in InDesign CS4. I believe the file was also created in InDesign CS4, however it won't open. The message says:
Cannot Open File..... .indd. Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions, or upgrade to the latest version of Adobe InDesign.
And lists about 20 or more plug-ins.
Can anyone please guide me on how to resolve this? Simple, clear steps would be greatly appreciated as I'm not very techy.
    Muchos gracias!

Thanks heaps for your reply. You may be right that it's a CS5/5/5 file, which is what I'd guessed, but I'm a little curious because when I look at the file in column view on my Mac, in the little Preview window it says: Kind: InDesignCS4 Document. Is this possibly incorrect? Perhaps because my computer won't recognize anything beyond CS4 being that's what it has installed?
