Updating new music to ipod

I have bought new music and videos on itunes and when I plug my usb into my pc my music update shows a warning that the music cannot be updated b/c my computer is not authorized to play the music...it is frustrating b/c I spent money on itunes and can't download the music onto my ipod.

Have you tried playing the purchased items using ITunes, whihc will authorize the computer and thus allow transfer to the IPOD.

• Why doesnt my library of songs copy into my ipod when updating new music?

I just updated and restored my ipod, but when copying my library into my ipod, although itunes shows each song successfully loading, only the first song of my library is present in my ipod when finished updating.

Sounds like a corrupt file somewhere on the ipod maybe. Try this...
Put the ipod into "Disk Mode" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651 THEN connect it to the PC and restore it again with the latest ipod updater 06-28-2006

• Downloading new music to IPOD

Okay....someone please tell me why I keep losing my prior music downloads when ever I download new music? For saving space on my computer I always remove the music I download to Itunes is this why? Is it possible to save what I have downloaded on my IPod when I download new music?

When the iPod is set to sync automatically, music that isn't in iTunes will be deleted from it when it is plugged in. You can turn this off by setting the iPod to sync manually.

• How to update new computer from Ipod

My old computer died and I have downloaded itunes program to my new one. However when connecting my ipod I am told that my ipod is connected to another library. This seems to mean I cannot access the old library to reorganise and add to it etc. It will not allow me to transfer from the ipod to the new library. How can I transfer my old library to the new computer?

• USB Port on my comp. doesn't work... how can I add new music to IPOD?

The USB Port doesn't connect anymore, it's broke on my pc, so I can't change any music on my IPOD. Is there any other way I can synch new music to it? IPOD will charge when I connect it to pc but that's all.

Your laptop has a touchpad, doesn't it? If it does, I would suggest reinstalling the USB controllers.
From this article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;310575
*Remove and reinstall all USB controllers*
+To remove and reinstall all USB controllers, follow these steps:+
+Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl in the Open box, and then click OK.+
+Click the Hardware tab.+
+Click the Device Manager button.+
+Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.+
+Right-click every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers node, and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.+
+Restart the computer, and then reinstall the USB controllers.+
+Plug in the removable USB storage device, and then test to make sure that the issue is resolved.+

• New music to iPod after 10.4.3 update?

This is curious. The first time I did an iPod sync following 10.4.3 about 300 tunes were transferred to my iPod. Odd thing is, these were not recently imported to iTunes. They should have been on the iPod all along.
Most odd. I did a safe boot after 10.4.3 (runs fsck on journaled HFS+, good maintenance trick). I wonder if a file system error was repaired.

I think (but may be wrong) that when songs are played with new versions of iTunes (newer than the version they were imported with), iTunes updates the file headers (tags), and so when syncing with an iPod the files themselves have changed and so are re-copied.
I have my purchased music playlist organised by Date Modified' and I regularly see 'ld' purchases at the bottom of the list as though they were bought today, whereas I only played them today!

• After Updating to version 11.1.4.62 cannot sync new music onto IPod

After updating any new songs I add will not sync onto my IPod. The songs are physically there on Itunes but will not show up on the IPod itself.

Found the answer....
Please follow this link....  Works GREAT for me!!!!

• Help! I can't download updates or music to iPod Mini.

Up to last night my iPod mini has worked perfectly. Now today, I added more songs to my library and unchecked a number of songs within the library and tried to update my iPod with the revised music listing.
However, no I get the following error message: "Attempting to copy to disk "iPod" failed. The disk could not be read from or written to." I subsequently retored the iPod, using the new updater, and reloaded iTunes etc, as well as rebooting the PC. Also changed USB ports...
Can anyone tell me what I need to do? I have a factory setting iPod with no music on and apparenly no way of putting any music on it!

• Updating glitched music in iPod.

I recently had to re-import some CD's using error corrections. They now play perfectly in iTunes, but the iPod will not re-sync with the new "glitch-free" versions. Any ideas?

Stephen,
Did you remove the glitchy tracks from your iTunes library?  If not, I would definitely start by doing that.  From there, double check to see how you have your iPod set up to sync music.  If may not be configured to sync the new tracks.

• Download new music onto ipod registered to other user

Hi-
I was given an old ipod from an acquaintance because he was upgrading to video. I wanted to download some of my own music onto it- I realized that this could erase the entire contents, but that was ok. When I first connected it to the computer it recognized the ipod, but when I downloaded itunes it is now not recognized by the computer or itunes, and now won't turn on at all. I am afraid it is toast...is there a way to reformat it to be my ipod, or is this a security function? Thanks- I am new to this.

There are some things you can try in order to get the iPod recognized.
However, you haven't given us any computer info and the steps to take are different for Windows users or Mac users.
Without this info, it's almost impossible to give any meaningful help.

• CANT transfer new music to iPod!

I cannot transfer my music from the computer to the iPod! I have downloaded the new 7.o version. The computer tells me that my computer "is not authorized to play these songs." BUT, I already have tons of other songs that HAVE transferred, so this doesnt make sense. HELP!!!! I've basically been working on this all day!
Thank you.

The computer tells me that my computer "is not authorized to play these songs."
try playing the songs for a few seconds in itunes. are you asked to authorise them? if so, do they transfer after doing that?

• Syncing new music into ipod touch

Imported CD into Itunes. Want to only sync certain songs from list. Everything they told me to do, I tried. I can't sync anything. I do have some songs on Ipod but I don't know how it got there previously unless it downloaded when I first set up Ipod.

Hello Jdfcardinals1,
If the music you lost is no longer on your iPod or in your iTunes library, then I'm afraid you are out of luck.  If the music was from ripped CDs, you'll need to re-rip them into iTunes.  If they were in iTunes, you may not be able to get them back without repurchasing each track.
Sorry.

• How can I add new music to my ipod without losing the music already loaded on another computer

I Can't load new music onto iPod with my new computer without losing all that is already there.

That is correct, you can only sync your iPod to one library at a time.
