Updating Nokia 5310 ExpressMusic (RM-303)

While updating Nokia 5310 ExpressMusicc (RM-303) version 3.63 to 5.81 by Nokia Software Updater v.1.4.36en under windows Vista. I found error msg like "Nokia Service Layer Host Process has Stopped Woring". The impact of this i cannot reset the mobile phone to factory setting with error msg "security error" i enter the correct security code... but the error msg always appear like that.
What can I do?

first, the 7.01 firmware has no big, noticeble differences.it seems faster thou.
and about why it is not available for all the models even unbranded...well, only nokia knows.
personally i never wait for that
start searching for alternatives.

Update Nokia 5310

I bought a Nokia 5310 v5.80 a month ago. I want to update it to the latest version (I think it is v5.81) but the Software Update application doesn't let me (it says that I'm already at the latest version).
I got it from Nokia (without SIM lock, it's not personalized by any operator).
What can I do?

Faults caused by NSU are covered by warranty, but only in countries where that warranty is valid. This is the downside of obtaining electronic gear cheap in the far east and bringing it back to the West.
A Nokia service point should be able to fix the phone, but not for free. However, we have heard stories about Nokia service points in the US refusing to deal with any phone not sold in the US.
As for the language, there is no way provided for the end user to install new languages. A Nokia service point may be able to add the Swedish language pack, but I fear you'll fall again on the problem mentioned in my previous paragraph...

Error when updating Nokia 5310!!

Hi all
recently bought 5310 and tried to update its firmware to 5.81 using Nokia Software Updater, but I got a "phone recovery" message in step 3 which tells me to remove the battery and charger and put them back on, then I press the retry and turn the phone on, but I still can't update, what should I do pls help..

What OS are you running on your PC/laptop? you should be aware that at Windows Vista support is temporarily removed due to some technical issues: http://europe.nokia.com/A4577225
If Vista is not the issue, make sure that you have the latest version of NSU installed.
If all else fails, you can have your phone updated at a Nokia service point - if it is being done to solve problems with the phone, then it is free under the warranty.

Nokia 5310 ExpressMusic power down at random

Hi, got this 5310, bought in Thailand, got new danish software on it, and just updatet it, with the neweste software update, but the damn thing, just power down at random, even with a fully charged battery. Help me

Nokia 5310 XM - firmware 7.01 ?

Hi,
I've seen in NSU that the firmware 7.01 is available since end of June 2008 for Nokia 5310 XM (RM-303).
However, all the product codes for this phone do not have this update available in the NSU (ex: product code 0564420 = EURO all black unbranded model).
My questions:
- 1. Does someone know the changes of the version 7.01 compared to version 5.81 ?
- 2. Why this update is not available for all the unbranded models ? Whatever the reason is, I really do not understand why the update is not available for all the unbranded models more than a month after its initial publication...

Nokia 5310 xpress music software update error

hi im usman manii i have nokia 5310 xm my phone were hang or restart when im go in gallery memory card then i connect my phone with nokia pc suite and update my phone software then its near at updating then my computer is restart the my phone software were not download soo today i'll go to nokia care i submit my phone if any software problem then 3 to 5 days otherwise rejected so what will i do if they rejected

first,please try to write using commas and dots, otherwise it is very hard for people to understand your problem.
so,its actually very simple:if nokia service center decide they won't solve your problem just go to another center.i'm sure there are plenty.anyone with medium service reparing knowledge and a proper flashing box can help you.

Nokia 5310 FirmWare Update

I am Using 5310 Xpress Music edition phone. It has the firmware version V03.60. The phone reboots while playing MP3 files.
I would like to update my firmware. I checked with nokia software updater V1.4.23en that the phone has V3.63 firmware update. I tried to update thro the updater but it fails to detect my phone. I am using the pcsuite 6.85 and the connection is good while connected thro pcsuite.
I followed the instructions while connecting thro software updater. I accepted "PC suite as the default option on my phone" and I got my phone charged full.
I would like to update to latest firmware version. Kindly help me on this issue.

I am also using nokia 5310. I have updated the firmware to 3.63 last week..
I just installed the PC suite, then the nokia software updater. Connect the phone to the PC and wait till it gets detected by the PC suite. Then Start the nokia software updater, it detected the phone, then checks for update. It found the Firmware update and ask to update. I just click on update and it downloads the update file of 33MB. Then got updated.
You should have a high speed internet connection before you update your mobile.

Nokia 5310 problems/firmware/updates????

right people after buying my nokia 5310 a week ago i have changed it twice, first time the camera did not work, 2nd time the phone kept restarting whilst listening to music. Now i have a 3rd nokia 5310 and it has restarted twice whilst listening to music, it has also crashed whilst recieving a missed call. After doing research i understand there may be a new version of firmware available (v 3.63) does anybody know where to find the version as this may fix the problems???? i have also read that it is a mp3 codec problem that causes the phone to restart so we should change them to mp4s using nokia pc suite this has fixed the problem for most people with nokia 5310s. IF ANYBODY HAS V 3.63 OR KNOWS WHERE TO DOWNLOAD IT COULD YOU LET US KNOW PLEASEEEEEEEEE!!!!! THANX

Nokia 5310: Wrong sync of repeating weekly appoint...

I am having problems with the sync of appointments between Outlook and my Nokia 5310 XpressMusic.
When creating an appointment with a weekly recurrence on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, this syncs as only recurring on Tuesdays on the other device.
It does not matter, whether I create the appointment in Outlook or on the phone. The recurrence pattern loses all but the first weekday during sync, keeping the other days only on the device the appointment was originally created on.
This looks like there is a misinterpretation of the recurrence pattern between phone and Outlook.
My previous phone, a Nokia 6300, did not have this problem. So it looks like a bug in the 5310, or in the PC Suite not correctly converting between phone and Outlook.
Does anybody know of this issue and has a solution?

Btw: Surprisingly, the Nokia web site shows V 9.42 as the latest phone software version, where as my phone already has V 10.10

I have been having an email "dialogue" with NOkia support for a few weeks. First they responded telling me the problem is due to my clocks were not synchronized between the phone and the PC. They were wrong because both were running auto-update or ntp. A week later they replied to my message saying my time zones must be off. Again, they were wrong. I verified both. Now I wait again. It seams as if the support of this software is not a priority.

Nokia 5310 (10.10) with 8GB microSDHC crashes when...

I'm using a 8GB SanDisk microSDHC card with my Nokia 5310 (newest firmware). Transferring files with Windows Explorer is no problem; when using the Ovi Player the phone frequently crashes after a while, mostly when there is more than 4 GB of data on the microSDHC card. Any attempt to put more files on the phone after that will lead to an almost instant crash.

8gig is not totaly compatible
yeah i agree 8gig its working but thenokia 5310xp was build for 4 gig and lower compatible only im using firmware 10.10 and my memory is micro 4gig sdhc card

Nokia 5310 - Display freeze problem

Hi,
I got a new Nokia 5310 last week and its doing great and i like it a lot, except for the following problem..
Problem description:
I find the phone display freezed and become grey and stopped responding to any keys..
this happened first time (on day two) with low battery and then started observing it frequently now (once in two days), when the phone is left with screen saver..,
at this state, when a call is made to phone, caller can hear the phone is ringing, but the phone is still dead..,
the only way to correct this is, remove the battery and reboot the phone.,
Query:
before going to nokia care centre, will this be a firmware bug (based on reported problems) or hardware bug(specific to my handset)??

How to unlock memory card nokia 5310

i just updated my nokia 5310 firmware from 5.81 to 8.32 and now my memory card has locked itself.
can anyone help with this?

The MMC password does not get reset to the factory default simply because there is no factory default for that.
The file in the phone's memory containing the MMC password is erased when the software is updated, which means that the phone no longer remembers the password. The phone then prompts the user for it, which is when they wish they'd made a note of it somewhere!

Search option in tracklist/playlist in nokia 5310 ...

Hi,
I am having nokia 5310 xpress music.
I am looking for the search option in playlist. sometimes playlist is too long and you are looking for a particular song to be player then I need to scroll down the whole list to find the related song.
I am having nokia E51 also and I found that search option is there in that.
I dont think it has any dependency over s40 or s60. and it can be provided with just firmware update..
Please confirm and suggest.

If you disable the Search Entire Library option (available in the dropdown to the left of the search box) iTunes 12 will not show the search results in a dropdown but will immediately go to a filtered version of your current view. With the Search Entire Library option enabled, you can still get to this filtered view by clicking on the first entry in the drop down, which will say "Show <search string> in Library" or "Show <search string> in <playlist>" depending on where you start the search from.
There are some inconsistencies in the search behavior, most notably that where you have the Search Entire Library option enabled and search within a playlist the dropdown will show all matches in you complete library (whether in your playlist or not), whereas the first entry in the dropdown just takes you to the filtered playlist view.
