Updating nvidia 8800 GS driver in win xp-32 bit

I was able to update my driver to version 180.48 and to version 180.84 using the official nvidia drivers for the 8800 GS. And both seem to work fine, both recognize the specifications of a 8800M GTS apart from the name.
I was unable to update using the official 8800M GTS driver (for those who do not know the 8800 GS in a imac is supposedly a 8800M GTS: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce8_Series#8800GS)
And if you look at this document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1999 you will notice that the name of the driver is 8600M GT.
There is an option on the nvidia driver download site that scans your computer to tell you which graphic card you have: 1st time I it told me that I had a 8800M GTS then every time after that it told me that I had a 8800 GS.
So which graphic card is it?
If I'm using the wrong driver how come it works?
If I'm using the wrong driver am I losing performance?
This may be connected to the issue maybe not in anycase it's strange: ff you go to http://www.nvidia.com/page/apple.html the title of the page is: "NVIDIA GPUs Power Apple MacPro and iMac" but within the page it only mentions "NVIDIA GPUs Power Apple Mac Pro, MacBook Pro, and Apple TV" nothing about nvidia and iMac whereas it is in the title of the page!

Hi:
First you have to install the Intel HD graphics driver first, reboot and then install the nvidia graphics driver.

Can't update nVidia 8800 GS on iMac...

Boot camp has an older driver, like 163.xxx something..
Downloaded the newest 173.16 WHQL driver from nVidia, but when I run it, it says it can't find a valid video card. I know my iMac 3.06 gig machine has the nVidia 8800GS card, so what gives? Did Apple change something in the card's .inf file?
If I try to force the install, it tells me that Windows cannot verify the card and it could fail, etc...
What gives? Why does Bootcamp insist on using such an old driver?
And why does Windows not let me update my 8800GS?

It actually transpires that the 8800 GS in the iMac isn't actually an 8800 GS at all, but the same 8800 GT card from the Mac Pro that has been clocked down to match the 8800 GS speed. This is great news because it means the Memory Interface is 256-bit, rather than 192-bit; plus you get the extra memory itself. On the whole it should sit somewhere between the 8800 GT and a regular 8800 GS. We assume that the card had to be restricted because it would overheat in the small form-factor of the iMac. The 8800 card itself is fairly large (hence it's absence from the 20-inch iMac models) and runs at considerable temperature.
It may even be possible to overclock the card in the iMac to match the full speed of the Mac Pro card, although we wouldn't recommend it because the excessive heat would almost certainly cause your iMac to crash.

NVIDIA Optimus Display Driver for Windows 7 (64 Bit) interfering with Microsoft Outlook 2013

Can't explain it nor do I understand it but it appears that the latest NVIDIA Optimus Display Drivers (Version 9.18.13.1270 / 8.15.10.2725, dated 05 Jan 2014) is interfering with Microsoft Outlook 2013. For a week I have been working with Microsoft Technical and Lenovo's Premium Support to no avail. I have reformatted my hard drive 4 times and uninstall and reinstalled Office 2013 Pro more time than I can to remember. The issue stared last Tuesday (18 Mar 2014) when I uploaded new drivers from Lenovo and Microsoft. Outlook would not execute (the initial Outlook dialog would just say processing ....) For four day's Microsoft, Lenovo, and I trouble shot everything under the sun. What was odd was whenever Microsoft or Lenovo technicians took control of my computer Outlook worked fine, and when I stated this to the technicians they thought I was nuts, but once I had control the problem returned. Finally frustrated to the hill I once again reformatted my hard drive but this time installed the Lenovo updates and software one at a time creating numerous restore points along the way. When I updated the new NVIDIA drivers the problem resurfaced. When I would go into the device manager and uninstall the NVIDIA driver’s outlook once again worked fine. I finally was able to reinstall (through my restore points) the previous version of drivers and Outlook is working fine. Is there something to this. ??????

I always avoid Optimus, it's historically been way too buggy and very little performance bump over HD4000/4600. I either opt for Quadro machines or just run Intel integrated. That being said, it's a blessing in disguise for you since Outlook is hideos. Consider something else, so many better options exist.

NVIDIA Optimus Display Driver for Windows 7 (64-bit) - ThinkPad

The display driver available at http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds029106 is advertised as being version 9.18.13.3302 / 8.15.10.2725, released on 5/20/2014, but what can really be downloaded from the URL (g5de45ww.exe) is actually a two-year old driver from 2012, version 9.17.10.2483 for Intel HD 4000. Does anyone know from where the current, up-to-date display driver for Intel HD 4000 in the T430 can be downloaded?

On lenovo blogs someone asked Russ Compton (lenovo employee) this question, see his reply below:-
"Q: Is this a software/driver update that can be applied to existing switchable graphics T410s models, or is there a hardware change which means it’s a feature of new “Optimus systems” only.
A: Amardeep, that is a good question. All ThinkPads shipping today will be Optimus enabled if running Win 7.. The current T410, T410s and T510 that are in the field will not be able to upgrade. The changes are the following: 1- Graphics Driver, 2- BIOS UPDATE 3- EEPROM Flash. So the hardware is not changing, but the upgrade to Optimus is not supported due to the EEPROM update that is required."

I updated my T61 from VISTA to win 7 64 bit now thinpad recovery current ver wont install

i did a clean install of WIN 7 64 on my thinkpad T61 7664-17u. I put thinkvantage toolbox, other thing son, but it wont take the curent 64 bit version restore and recovery
i get error message as seen below:
rescue and recovery does not support installing from the operating system which upgrade from a legacy preload system
version i am trying to install is z936_setup_rnr450_025c. Any idea on what version i can try to install?

I don't use rescue and recovery personally, but I think I can at least explain your error message.
Your recovery partiton contains a different OS then you have installed, so rescure and recover cannot use it to fix any problems or do a system restore. The only way you coud is if you did a system restore from original setup discs for the OS your using, which probably don't exist.
There may be other options within this program that can help you. I recal reading that it can image your drive and do a restore that way, but as I mentioned, I use other methods of restore so I don't have a solution for you..
There are 3rd party tools that can create restore images of your windows partiton, many use this method. My personal preferrence is to have a partition where I instal a second windows version. Doing a system restore is destructive of data and takes time, where a second OS can be accessed in a couple minutes. I also keep my windows partition small so it can be imaged and saved in a separate partition and I don't store any of my data in it, that way if I ever have to restore by reinstalling windows or re-imaging the partition, none of my data is lost, only what is in the C: drive is effected. I personally feel this is far superior to a hidden partition who's only purpose is to install windows. This data can be stored on optical discs and the harddrive space can be put to better use.

Download the latest nVidia nForce x64Drivers.
It has the SATA Drivers in it. If you need the Drivers for Install of the OS, just expand the Drivers and put the SATA & RAID Drivers on a floppy and you are set for the Install.

Apple update not seeing Bootcamp 3.1 (WIN 7, 64 BIT)

ok i have this problem for a while now. I look in my "programs and features" the the control panel and it says im updated to 3.1 but when i run apple update it tells me i need to download and install 3.1. i have uninstalled and reinstalled the 3.0 from my snow leopard disk multiple times. i have a imac early 2009. also if anyone know what is going on with the sound problems with the system please help i miss my internal speakers on the windows side(sounds like the speakers are low and cheap)
