Dear All,
I have several servers which are not in network and without internet. I dont have any WSUS Server. I do need to update this server by downloading the lastest patches, burning on CD and installing it on the servers. If any body can provide me with the following details.
1. How can i know which updates do i need to install on the server.
2. What is procedure to download the updates on my local PC, burn the updates on CD and install them on the server.
Note. I dont have internet on my servers, I do need to download all the updates to my local PC.
Thank you all

I have several servers which are not in network and without internet. I dont have any WSUS Server. I do need to update this server by downloading the lastest patches, burning on CD and installing it on the servers. If any body can provide me with the following details.
1. How can i know which updates do i need to install on the server.
Review KB894199 (for updates released in 2009) and identify the updates you need.
2. What is procedure to download the updates on my local PC, burn the updates on CD and install them on the server.
I'm not sure which part of your hand you want me to hold . . . I presume you have *some* knowledge of how Microsoft Updating works. identify the update(s) you need, review the MSCR Bulletins (for security updates) and/or KB articles (for non-security updates), and use the links provided in those articles to download the content.
The *HARD* part of this process is getting the updates installed!
Since you *do* have Internet connectivity to your PC -- I'd suggest you consider this alternative:
1. Install Virtual Server 2005 R2 on your PC and install a WSUS v3 SP2 server in a virtual machine on your PC.
2. Connect that WSUS Server to the Internet and use WSUS to download content. (You are, btw, posting in a =WSUS= forum.)
3. Use the "Set up a Disconnected Network" feature of WSUS as described in the Deployment Guide, to place a WSUS server on the LAN that services your disconnected servers, and import the metadata and content from the VM-based WSUS server on your PC to an isolated (disconnected) WSUS server on the server LAN -- and then use WSUS and the Windows Update Agent to deploy/install updates.
The amount of time it will take to set up the two WSUS Server is a microscopic portion of the time it will take you each month to download and manually copy and install updates to each individual server one-at-a-time.

  • OSD Issue installing updates offline

    Hi, I am trying to add some steps to install windows updates offline in a UDI MDT task sequence as per the instructions here.
    http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys/archive/2011/04/10/software-updates-and-osd-revisited.aspx
    It looks like there is now an issue parsing the unattend.xml as I now get the error "Windows setup encounted an internal error while searching for an unattend". The problem is very similar to
    http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/5093-invalid-character-in-unattendxml-file-causing-windows-7-service-pack-1-offline-language-pack-installation-failure/ but with updates instread of lang packs.
    If I remove the steps I don't get the issue. I checked the unattend.xml and it adds the updates to the servicing section and it does seem ok, guess something isnt though.
    Appreciate any thoughts here ...

  • How to get windows updates offline

    Hi,all
    I want to get windows updates (win7/win server2003/2008)periodically,but our stations and servers are not connected to Internet,so I must download the windows patches manually.
    Could you sharing your best way to get windows updates and install offline with me? I know some tools such as MBSA ,WSUS. but I have no experience on it .thanks all of you
    Lorin
    Nov.7.2014

    Hi Lorin,
    Managing WSUS on a disconnected network involves exporting updates and metadata from a WSUS server on a connected network and then importing all that information into the WSUS server on the disconnected network.
    There are three steps to accomplishing an import and export.
    First, make sure advanced synchronization options for the express installation files feature and languages on the export server match the settings on the import server.
    Second, copy updates from the file system of the export server to the file system of the import server.
    Third, export update metadata from the database on the export server, and import it into the database on the import server.
    For detailed information, please refer to the link below,

  • Easiest Ways To Update Offline Media?

    We normally use PXE boot and deploy images across the network even though is seems slower since many computers are on a 100Mb connection due to sharing their network port with a 100Mb VOIP phone. We do this for convenience mostly because of the big hassle
    of updating multiple flash drives whenever the image or task sequence is updated.
    We could use multicast if we were doing many simultaneous deployments of the same image, but the majority of the time, we are reimaging one-off machines one or two at a time.
    However, I just saw some hardware and software that seems like it could make using offline media more manageable if they were used together.
    Instead of copying the Content folder manually one stick at at a time to USB flash media, is there any reason you cannot just mass clone multiple copies of the LiteTouchMedia.iso file to multiple bootable usb drives using ImageUSB http://www.osforensics.com/tools/write-usb-images.html and
    a USB hub like this?
    This software copies the ISO as if burning a DVD.  It does not copy the Contents folder files the way you would manually create USB media for MDT.
    If this works, then updating as many USB sticks as we can get on a hub wouldn't be much more difficult than just updating one USB stick.

    We got them back at the same time by telling all of the remote technicians to send (FedEx) their flash drives to the corporate office. There was a period of time, maybe a week, where the remote technicians didn't have flash drives. That worked for us but
    that's obviously not a technical item - it's a process item. Once all the flash drives were updated, which took about a day, we shipped the flash drives back out to the techs.
    Mind you, we also had PXE booting for OSD through SCCM at all of our remote locations. So we approached the OSD question through a few different angles. (Flash drives, PXE + OSD, and also a "break-fix" location that machines could be shipped to.)

  • How to update Windows Servers faster with WSUS?

  • SCEP updates for servers without internet access

    I have servers that are Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2008 R2 that CANNOT have internet access.  I pushed the CM client to them and the SCEP client but they cannot get the SCEP updates.  The error in the WindowsUpdate.log is:

    I think the Windows Update Agent is trying to update from MS.
    When I run RSOP.msc, I do see that the CM server is listed as the WSUS server and was updated in local group policy which is what the CM client is expected to do.
    What do I do in a situation where the machine does not have internet access and I need to update the WU agent?
    Thanks,

  • 10.9.5 update smb servers not working

    I just updated to 10.9.5, one of the items was said to improve stability for smb servers, which I use and they have been somewhat unreliable. Immediately after the update I can't access them at all. Can I undo this update? Is there a way to fix this?

  • Manual installation of Windows update to servers

    Hi,
    We have 90 windows 2008 servers and every month we do a manual patch these servers.
    WSUS server pushes the patches to the servers, but we need to login to all servers and manual to do the installation.
    How can i  automate the  update installation on all servers?
    Is there any script which can initiate the update on these servers?
    Thanks
    Venky

    Hi 07Venky,
    You can setup the WSUS server, then configure the related GPO on the Hyper-V servers then set this server update settings as “Install updates automatically (recommended)”
    , then this server will automatically install the updates from your WSUS server.

  • Getting rMBP's windows updates offline?

    Hi,
    For some complicated reasons I won't be able to connet my rMBP to internet in order to get windows udpates from apple when I install it with bootcamp. So is there anyway to download them offline and hand it to the installer when it asks for them after installing windows?
    Thanks.

    Hi zarberg,
    Are you want to know how to
     list all of your server 2003 installed hotfix with PowerShell ? If yes, you need install the Windows Management Framework after you install the PowerShell.
    After your install Remote Management was NOT enabled on the server so they were in big trouble. If they had PowerShell installed this monumental problem would have been nothing
    but an annoyance. You can refer the following article to install the Windows Management Framework.

  • Schedule Updates offline Image and updates in softwarecenter after rollout

    Hello,
    we have a strange issue here.
    For Example: I did an offline update of our os image for server 2012 R2 with the KB2919355 update.
    The Distribution Points are successfully updated with the new image.
    The OfflineServicingMgr.log says everything went fine.
    After staging or installing a server from the wim-file the update is listed under "Programs and Features\Installed Updates" as installed.
    But after doing an inventory and a software scan against the SCCM Server the update is displayed as necessary in the softwarecenter.
    Does someones know for what reason this happens or where i can take a look ?
    Is ist just a display problem ?

  • Install Windows 7 updates offline.

    IIRC, you can not update Windows 7 without an internet connection.
    Is there no way/tool to load updates on an external drive, and take that external drive desktop to desktop for installation?

    Hi,
    Do you mean download windows update in external drive and then install the updates in another computer?
    If it is the case, based on my test, we can do it.
    We use one computer to download the updates from Microsoft download center and then share them in a folder. Then another computer use these downloaded updated to install. It works fine.
    If it is not the case, please feel free to let me know.

I am testing with Windows 7 64-bit (with both the 32- and 64-bit version of the JVM installed, 1.6u20-b06 on both). The application cache is enabled. Here is my JNLP file:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="us-ascii"?>
    <jnlp
      spec="6.0+"
      codebase="http://hidden"
      href="Librarian.jnlp">
      <information>
        <title>Librarian</title>
        <vendor>Vendor</vendor>
        <homepage href="http://hidden"/>
        <description>Description.</description>
        <offline-allowed/>
        <shortcut online="false">
          <desktop/>
          <menu submenu="Vendor"/>
        </shortcut>
        <icon href="Librarian.gif"/>
      </information>
      <security>
        <all-permissions/>
      </security>
      <resources>
        <j2se version="1.6+"/>
        <jar href="Librarian.jar" main="true"/>
      </resources>
      <application-desc main-class="com.vendor.apps.librarian.Librarian"/>
    </jnlp>I am observing the following behavior wrt updates and allow-offline:
    When allow-offline is present:
    - JWS does not download updates to the JAR file when the desktop link is clicked.
    - The application can run when I disable the network connection.
    - The "-offline" switch is passed to javaw in the desktop shortcut.
    When allow-offline is not present:
    - JWS does download JAR updates when the desktop link is clicked.
    - The application can not run when I disable the network connection (HostNotFoundException).
    - The "-offline" switch is not passed to javaw in the desktop shortcut.
    What I want to happen is for JWS to check for updates if it can, and if it times out, instead of barfing, just go ahead and run the cached version. What I can get right now is either no updates + offline allowed, or updates + offline disallowed. However, I can obtain the behavior I want if I specify allow-offline then hand-edit the desktop shortcut and remove "-offline":
    When allow-offline is present but I remove "-offline" from the desktop shortcut:
    - JWS does download updates to the JAR file.
    - The application can run when I disable the network connection, after a short timeout.
    Now, I was under the impression that this behavior is the intended behavior of allow-offline: attempt to download update, on error, silently start the cached version instead. This does not seem to be the case. I actually wonder if this is a bug, as with 1.6u20, it seemed to download JAR updates just fine when allow-offline was specified (I had issues when the cache was disabled with 1.6u20, and so I moved to u21).
    How can I make this work the way I want without having to hand edit the desktop shortcut?
    Is this a bug, or am I misconfiguring (OED says this is a real word!) the application?
    Is there something else I have to do to indicate that the JAR is updated besides just uploading a new version to the server?
    It should be noted that I am not doing any web page magic here, I'm testing by simply downloading the JNLP file off the server and opening it. This is actually my first JWS experience and I haven't gotten to properly embedding it in a web page yet. I do not know if this is significant or not.
    Thanks!

    Well, I solved that quick. I've been staring at it for over an hour but it popped out at me as soon as I looked at my JNLP file in my post here (guess it's the red text, heh).
    All I need to do is set online="true" in the shortcut, and also specify allow-offline, and all works exactly as I want it to. :-)
    Perhaps it was a bug in u20 that was causing it to check for updates anyways even with an offline shortcut... I'm not sure, and I don't have it in me to test it any more at the moment.
    Thanks,
    M
