Updating OS Warning!!!

I used mac desktop to update a Vodafone UK Bold........ BIG MISTAKE. It failed half way through update resulting in death screen 'app error 205'.  If this has happened to you follow these instructions, they worked for me.
http://crackberry.com/blackberry-101-lecture-12-how-reload-operating-system-nuked-blackberry
You have to be using the PC version of desktop.

I also had this happen to my Rogers Bold 9000. This is the second time I've had a BB OS update fail on this phone. Frankly, it speaks pretty loudly about the lack of QA/QC that goes into this software. I was able to un-brick the phone by removing all the RIM & BB kexts from /System/Library/Extensions and using XP under VMWare Fusion. Unexpectedly, the first time I ran AppLoader from Windows, the OS load failed. For some unexplained reason, the second time, it worked. I did not try the /nojvm option.

You can still download as much as you can only a lot slower during peak times off peak will not be restricted.
Thanks for this explanation. I had taken it that it was at all times.
As I said in the first place it will be great if they throttle me to 1Mb at peak times as it will be better half the time than I am getting anyway!!!!!!!!!

  • RME 4.3.1 device update failing 'WARNING : Cat3560(7.3):Consistency check failed for base package SharedNetshowIOS'

    Hi Guys,
I'm having some issues updating the device packages for my RME 4.3.1 install.
I've downloaded and tried to update the 'Cat3560.zip' package via the GUI, but the job fails with the above error.
I pulled up the PSU.log and found the following:

  • Swfobject_modified.js giving Erroneous UPDATE FLASH warning in IE9 with flash 11 installed

    I've created a page:
    http://www.waterskimmer.com/waterskimmervideo.html
[Initially, I had named the flv Revolutionary-Waterskimmer-HQ.flv. The video wouldn't load. Paths correct. Tried renaming the file to vid6.12.flv and it worked. So, a side note is that embedding FLV files with Dreamweaver might have issues when you have a long, hyphenated name as I did.]
The FLV plays well on most browsers. However, in testing it on my own computer, it loads with the Adobe Flash Player update warning despite the fact that I've updated the flash (unnecessarily, I think because it certainly wasn't lower than v6).
It's at v11 now and it's still getting the error (update your Flash Player) message.
Any ideas on a resolution. Don't really want to delete the warning.
    Kristi

    Hi,
Sorry, I could not reproduce the issue.
I was able to preview page in Live View with an FLV video file named Revolutionary-Waterskimmer-HQ.flv embedded in it. I have Flash Player ActiveX 11.3.300.257 on my system.
Can you please try unistalling the Flash Player plugin and installing it again. You can use the following link to know which version of Flash player is currently installed.

Return code 4 is a warning so you should be able to proceed. Did you restart the SPAM import process (just re-run transaction SPAM and restart the import from the menu)? Having to restart the SPAM import is fairly common.
    Hope that helps.

  • Cannot use fire shot -- asks for update - then warned it is third party and not to trust

Cannot use fire shot to save page image. Told to update. Go to update and after several tries of re-downloading next to newest version try newest which is 'not reviewed'. Then pop-up says mozilla not sure about it and it is third party so I don't continue. I have tried so many times today to save a page and the click sound happens but the save function never appears. thank you, Janice

    Dear Kishore,
Individual PO processing is not third party process at all. In third party process the vendor delivers the goods dirctly to the customer - please check what SAP help says.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/dd/5601d4545a11d1a7020000e829fd11/content.htm
    Dear Queyen,
One important point of third party process is that there's no need to keep stock of materials - that is in harmony with reality. Why does your customer want to keep stock from the goods if they doesn't receive at all? Is it coreect? It doesn't correspond to the fact.
You can do statistical (ghost) GR against the third-party PO and you can see the goods movement in MB51 - I think this should be enough.

  • I am running FireFox 3.6 on a secondary computer running XP. I am constantly getting reminders about updating, but warned that my free AVG won't work

It always says that a fix is coming, but never seems to be delivered. I am happy to upgrade to FireFox12 but not until the virus software will work.

AVG will still be working after you update to Firefox 12.<br />
That message is more likely about ad-ons added by AVG to Firefox.<br />
Extensions that AVG might add to Firefox may stop working, but we already see a lot of issues reported caused by some of them (e.g. AVG Safe Search) that it may be better to leave them disabled anyway.

  • 10.1 update nightmare WARNING

I had everything well organized; hunderds of events and a few hundred project. Yes I am using FCPX professional and am even an ambassador.
Yet the way Apple updates this version, is a nightmare for pro's. My complete way of organizeing things in events/ projects and folders is turned into a mess. I cant find several events and client projects are mixed up.
APPLE: never ever do updates like this!
If you reorganize media handling; inform users PRIOR and make tutorial movies. Now we have nothing and have to learn from other users. You scared away many pro users when introducing FCPX. I embraced this new way of working. FCPX is my gear to make a living. Yet for us, professionals, you cant change workflows without informing, instructing etc. Okay for consumer apps but not for pro's!
In addition several plugins no longer work. Ofcourse not an issue for Apple, but be informed
My advice ot pro's using FCPX:
DONT UPGRADE without a trial on an other machine. Master the new way of organizing media first and then upgrade.
I lost 1 full day producttivity reorganizing the mess 10.1 auto update created

I just found this info on the web.
MUST READ for everyone prior to upgrading to 10.1
Wish I had seen this earlier

    Hi,
In the badi mentioned by you GOITEM is the importing parameters & if the relevant field is not used in any MIGO screen you cannot change the data.
Please check example BADI interface: IF_EX_MB_MIGO_BADI~LINE_MODIFY
    Please check the BADI documentation:
Changed data in GOITEM is only adopted if the relevant fields are visible and ready for input.
Changed data in GOITEM is not adopted if the relevant field is not used in any MIGO screen (warning via MIGO 049).
Changed data in GOITEM is not adopted if the relevant fields are not ready for input (warning via MIGO 050)

  • Warning after update to 10.10.3

When I rebooted after installing this latest update, a warning was given about an incompatible Rapport Preferences Pane (I believe but cannot remember the exact wording). I found the reference and deleted it. I have had problems with the Trusteer Rapport progam and had to do a complete reinstall of Yosemite with the help of an Apple technician.
I have now run an Etrecheck check and this was reported in the Launch Daemons: [failed] com.trusteer.rooks.rooksd.plist. I know items in red are just for info but I do not understand why it is listed. I cannot find the plist anywhere so does it matter?
This item also appeared in Etrecheck Startup items: ProTec6b: Path: /Library/StartupItems/ProTec6b Startup items are obsolete in OS X Yosemite
So should I delete this in the stated path or leave all well alone? Thanks in advance for any help/advice given.

Trusteer has caused crashes in the past. Not sure what its status is, now. I wouldn't install it.
If it was under Launch Daemons, it should be in /Library/LaunchDaemons. It could be in your User/Library, but that wouldn't be normal.
ProTec6b appears to be some form of copy protection scheme, likely installed with some photo plug-in. I would imagine those plug-ins no longer work unless you have upgraded them and it just left that crap behind.

  • Crashing on start up, auto-updating even when disabled & not allowing a safe toolbar add-on to download

I have followed all of the steps in all of the relevant help articles (http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-crashes-troubleshoot-prevent-and-get-help#w_get-help-fixing-this-crash), and nothing has fixed this problem.
I was running v17, and yesterday it auto-updated to v18 when I opened firefox. As soon as it updated it crashed, pressing 'restart firefox' did nothing, I could only quit. So I found an old install file, went back to v17, checked the option to ask permission before updating, run malwarebytes and spybot, so my PC is clean. This morning, same thing happened - auto update with no warning or permission given. Crashed. Repeatedly, restarted, closed everything else that was running, uninstalled and reinstalled the older stable version. Both times I spent a long time reinstalling add ons and themes. On top of that my goodapp toolbar from goodsearch will no longer be installed by firefox because 'it can't modify the necessary files'. All other add ons work fine, and I was using this toolbar with no issues in v17 only yesterday.
The second reinstall I clicked the option 'never check for updates'. But tonight, when I opened firefox, it updated without warning to v18 again and I was ready to switch to chrome after a decade of using this browser. There was no Firefox (safe mode) to run from my program files, and since I couldn't open the browser at all before it crashed, all I could do was uninstall and reinstall v17 for the third time in 24 hours and as you can imagine I am not very happy that your so-called stable release is anything but that. I think with the number of people having problems that you should stop work on v20 and actually accept there is a problem with this release instead of trying to blame it on malware.
    Latest crash report ID: bp-3ea35888-008f-4e21-b31f-023002130112

This crash is usually caused by to malware and the involved randomly named file in your case is astktkra.dll as you can see in the modules list of the crash report.
Try to use MSConfig and disable that file to prevent it from getting started.
Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that allows to locate and remove the file either manually or with a malware scanner.
You will have to search the Windows registry (Ctrl+F) for references to that file and export and remove involved keys to avoid startup issues with missing files or alternatively use a registry cleaner like CCleaner.
If you are not comfortable with editing the registry then it is best to skip this step.
Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

  • How do I move from the 3/23 to the 6/28 iPod updater?

I have an iPod that I got a couple weeks ago, which came with the 3/23 1.1.1 iPod software. I now see that there is a 1.1.2 version available, but the instructions on the web for moving to the new iPod updater are not very specific. Here are the instructions from the web page and my questions with it:
To install and open the iPod Updater:
    1. Open iPodsetup.exe on the iPod + iTunes CD or from the web download at www.apple.com/ipod.
When I open ipodsetup.exe from the CD, it asks for a language (the title bar says that this is the 3/23 updater), runs for a while, then asks me if I want to completely remove the application. The directions say nothing about uninstaling the previous version. Is this what I need to do?
    2. Connect your iPod to your computer. If you are using USB, make sure iPod is connected to a high-power USB port on your computer. Be aware that USB keyboards and non-powered USB hubs generally do not have high-power USB ports.
Do I need to have the new updater installed before I do this? What about iTunes - can it be running during this or must it be shut down? Remember, iTunes will start as soon as I plug in the iPod.
    3. Run iPod Updater 2006-06-28.exe from Start\All Programs\iPod\iPod Updater 2006-06-28.
There won't be such a thing if I have done nothing but uninstall the 3/23 updater. Nothing here says to run the program that was downloaded from the Web. Am I supposed to run this downloaded program now?
    4. When iPod Updater opens, click Update or Restore.
So, what is the exact procedure for Windows XP here?

I would have posted this earlier, but someone was hijacking the secure login site ("*.112.2o7.net" was domain for their security certificate), so I couldn't login. Anyway, I got the updater installed properly, but as I suspected, there were a few gotchas that I evidently successfully navigated. Here's what I did (and again, this is on Windows XP):
    1. Downloaded the updater program.
    2. Shut down iTunes.
    3. Double-clicked on the downloaded program. It asked me for the language, then did a bunch of stuff.
    4. At the end of the install, it told me I needed to reboot, so I did.
    5. After reboot, I logged in again, and I got a popup saying that it needed to install some more stuff. I forget if I had to click on anything or not, but I let it go.
    6. WARNING! I never got a confirmation that it was finished - I just let it go for about 5 minutes and made sure there was no disk activity (i.e. my system was completely finished booting).
    7. I plugged in my iPod. After about 30 seconds of disk activity, I got a popup saying that my iPod was at 1.1.1 and needed to be updated. WARNING! This was not the same as the popup that it shows where you have a choice of update or restore - it was a different popup. In any case, I clicked the only button there was (I think it was labeled "OK").
    8. After another 30 seconds or so, I got the window that it shows in the instructions, which told me that my iPod was at 1.1.1, and giving me a choice for either update or restore. I cicked on "update."
    9. My iPod screen turned on, but showed the Apple logo. Then the iPod disconected itself from the USB (I got the two tones (high, then low) that mean something was unplugged from my laptop's USB port). WARNING! Don't touch anything while this is going on!
    10. After about 30 seconds, the iPod connected itself again (I got the two tones (low, then high) that mean something was plugged into the USB port). After a while, the Apple logo was showing on the iPod screen, but with a progress bar on the bottom. I waited until it was finished.
    11. The window came back on my laptop saying that my iPod was at 1.1.2, and the "update" buton was greyed out.
    12. At this point, I don't remember if I unplugged my iPod and plugged it back in or not (I know I would not have if the "Do not disconnect" screen was showing. In any case, after this the iPod was showing the "Do not disconnect" screen, but iTunes was not coming up. I started iTunes manually, and it did not see the iPod.
    13. WARNING! I had to run the "Safely eject hardware" wizard to disconnect the iPod (that made the "Do not disconnect" screen disappear, and then I rebooted my laptop again. This is a safe way to recover from the situation where you can't get the "Do not disconnect" screen to go away.
    14. After rebooting again, the iPod and iTunes worked fine.
So, despite what the directions say, you do NOT need your original CD. Also, you must be patient. I think these problems being reported here are because people are getting impatient, or think the update is done when it isn't. *Once you start actually updating the iPod, you must wait until the window comes up saying that your iPod is at the new software level, and then you will probably need to reboot again.*
Sorry for the length of this post, but I think it's important for many people to see exactly what to expect.
