Updating OSX 10.6.8 to OSX 10.9
Hi,
I have OSX 10.6.8 on my MacBookPro 8,2 with Bootcamp having Windows 7. I would like to update OSX to 10.9 through software update or apple store option on MAC OSX.
1. Will this cause any problems to my dual boot setup or my windows partition?
2. Do I need to backup all my data and will I need to setup bootcamp again just after updating to OSX 10.9 from apple store or software update ?
3. How can I take precautions while performing the update for my dual boot system?

1. It shouldn't.
2. Definitely backup all your data, preferably on 2 or more backups. You shouldn't have to set up Boot Camp again. You want to download from the App Store.
3. Backup.
Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.

and iPhoto couldn't update too, because it depends on osx 10.8.2!!!Do you have one of those newer Macs which require a special update? From other posts, it seems there are now three different OS versions/updates - each one of specific Macs.
I'd call Apple and give them your serial number as well as - important - your build number (click on the Apple and About this Mac; under Mac OS X, click on the numbers until you get to build .......)

How do you update from OSX 10.6.8 to OSX 10.7? Software update app does not perform update.
That's because 10.7 is not an update, it is an upgrade that you have to buy by using the App Store app, not by using the Software Update.

Since updating to Firefox 4 on my OSX 10.5.8 mac Firefox will not go to any website. Firefox will launch but it won't load anything, the page is entirely blank - no home page loads - nothing. You don't. Since you have an Intel Mac, buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store.

When upgrading from osx 10.7.4 to osx mountain lion I get the following Alert! This update requires OS X version 10.8.
Sounds like you downloaded the 10.8.1 update instead of the Mountain Lion installer from the Mac App Store.
You have to purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store to get to 10.8 -

I need to update safari. I have macbook osx 10.6.8.Processor 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Memory 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. Current version of safari 5.1.10
Open the Mac App Store and try downloading Yosemite. If you get told it's incompatible, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least a Xeon or Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and 2GB of RAM, and if it does, click here and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading. In particular, Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

Won't start after update to 3.6.6 Mac OSX 10.6.4
Have updated to 3.6.6. on OSX 10.6.4. Installed as per instructions, but FF does not start - from the application folder or the dock (to where I dragged the FF icon). From looking at the support forum there seems to a number of people experiencing the same problem, but no fixes appear to be posted!

The application can't be updated due to the presence of Mac Osx 10.7.5. I updated the software of my mac to the latest update and still the application can't be updated. I'm using Mac osx lion (10.7.4)!?

Try re-adding your printer in System Preferences/Print & Fax. Not sure what type of printer you have, but if it was old and relying on an Appletalk connection, Snow Leopard dropped that support.

Updated to iTunes 11.2 on OSX 10.9.3 but it now hangs
I updated to iTunes 11.2 on OSX 10.9.3 after being prompted by Software Update but it now hangs and despite resetting PRAM and restarting, using Disk Utility to both repair permissions and disk, issue still persists. Tried to trash iTunes but not allowed. Any suggestions?
THanks for the help but unfortunatley the upgrade still hasn't fixed the issue. iTunes still hangs and I have no idea what to do next...

Downloaded OSX 10.8.2 then said there was update and now trying to reload OSX
I purchased and downloaded Mountain Lion 10.8.2. Today I checked for updates and there were two. the one for mountain lion when I set update it said you already have Mountain Lion but kept saying update. Now it is trying to reload (I think) the entire Mountain Lion. HELP
It was asked where I checked for the update. I went to my App Store and checked updates. It showed one update. It showed the same OSX program that I downloaded originally. I am so confused. The downloading is SO SO slow. So what is going on.Where did you see the Mountain Lion update? In App Store > Purchases or App Store > Updates? To update OS X, open App Store > Updates and it will show the updates available for your Mac
