Updating PDF and applying existing Bookmarks?

I created a 60pg PDF that was exported out of InDesign. Although I've done all the Hyperlinks within InDesign, but decided to create the "Bookmarks" in Acrobat. Now I have to update the document with changes throughout and althought my hyperlinks will export, I don't know how to apply the bookmarks I created to the old document to the new updated document.
Is there a way to apply/update the bookmarks to the new updated document?
It's basically exactly the same other than minor changes throughout. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

In InDesign, you can create bookmarks which will export to PDF by using the Table of Contents feature. You would need to use consistent paragraph styles throughout your document. When you make the table of contents by choosing Layout > Table of Contents you specify the paragraph styles that you want to use as bookmarks. When finished, you can put the Table of Contents that is created (you'll get a Place cursor) on a blank page that you don't need to include in the PDF file. But the bookmarks will be exported to PDF if you check that option (turned on by default).

You can do this with Adobe Acrobat.
If you are using Export PDF it is a long procedure.
You need to convert your PDF in word or powerpoint.
Then you can edit the document & again can create PDF.

I updated Firefox and all my bookmarks are lost; how do I restore them?

I just updated Firefox to 8.0.1., and all my bookmarks are gone. NONE of the suggested articles dealt with this: How do I restore the bookmarks? And why wasn't I asked during the update if I would like to have the bookmarks imported? Also why wasn't I warned that I would lose them all? Thank you.

Use the following to see if you have more than one profile or your lost bookmarks
in the bookmarkbackups folder.
Type about:support into the location bar the click on "Open Containing Folder" that will take you to your current profile. The bookmarkbackups folder has 5 backups (.json files) any of which can be restored with Firefox up through restore bookmarks.

Lost passwords, bookmarks, is a profile issue. Sounds like you
created a new profile instead of using your existing profile.
Open your profile folder and go up one level to see if you have multiple profiles ...
:  HELP (Alt+H) --> Troubleshooting information... --> "Open Containing Folder" (or type about:support into the location bar then click on "Open Containing Folder")
:note the filename, then go up one level to see if you have additional profile folders.
Check the dates of places.sqlite (new in Fx3) for update date just before you went to Fx6 Since it is updated each time you close your session that would be a good place to check.
If you find one then note its filename (the profile name is part of the filename) and then start the Firefox Profile Manager and open with that profile.
To prevent the problem in the future don't let Firefox start up for you after downloading and installing a new version. Instead exit the install at that last point, and restart Firefox in your normal manner.

Split PDF following preserving existing bookmarks

Hello,
Is it possible to split a PDF using Acrobat XI by top level bookmarks, while retaining existing bookmarks in the resulting files?
With the default split it creates the new PDF's, but looses the bookmarks.
Thanks for any suggestions.
PS: I am on a Mac platform

If it happens always at a specific location check if there's something out
of the ordinary with that bookmark. For example, does it contain any weird
characters in its name? Is it identical to another bookmark (or even to the
name of the document itself)?
I would think the application could handle those situations, but maybe it
can't...

"Updated" Firefox and all my bookmarks are gone

I've already clicked on "show all bookmarks"-- but the library's empty. So I clicked on Import and Backup, and Restore the previous bookmarks to earlier today (and yesterday and the day before and...), and after being told this will replace the current list, I get a "unable to process backup file" dialogue box. I also can't find where it is on my C: drive (is it not saved under program files/mozilla firefox?). Where did they go, and how do I get them back? I can't lose them!!
I'm using Vista, Service Pack 2

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

How to: Save as PDF AND preserve Word bookmarks/hypertext links

Is there a way to save a word doc as PDF in OS 10.4 that enables the hypertext links in the PDF file? When I save, i just get blue underlined text in the PDF but it cannot be clicked on to follow the links embedded in the original Word doc.

I wonder if this is actually a limitation of Preview... I've made PDF files with Illustrator that, when I open them in Acrobat have active links. The links don't work when I open the same file with Preview.

Updating Firefox and saving old bookmarks

Last time I upgraded Firefox, I lost my librarian wife's thousands of bookmarks. Firefox now has released version 1.5. Before upgrading, I want to be sure I can reuse all these valuable bookmarks. Any suggestions?

That shouldn't have happened unless you changed accounts.
The Firefox bookmark is stored in:
User>Library>Application Support>Firefox>Profiles>
You might want to back it up (just in case).

Best solution to convert DOC to over 1000 form-fillable PDF's and apply Javascript

I need to convert over 1000 MS Word docs to PDF, and make forms interactive with the following JavaScript or other scripting needs:
40-50 fields per form, link to db connection (SQL)
command buttons to Add New (new record to db), Update (existing record based on field value), Submit (submit saved pdf file to SharePoint site-must create directory based on field name; save file as field name
form fields should be clear on open
I know this is a tall order, but if I could get some direction on code examples, that would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest using Acrobat Pro, but Acrobat Standard 9 now includes forms creation capabilities, including adding usage rights. Acrobat can automate the form field creation process by attempting to recognize where form fields would go. You will probably have to make some corrections, but it can help speed up the process.
Adding a submit button is a simple matter, though submitting via email is often not highly reliable and is generally not secure. Consider setting up the form to submit to a web server for a much more reliable and secure system.
If you will be including the entire PDF as an attachment to an email, you will need to enable usage rights (i.e., Reader-enable) for each form if it has to work for Reader users. Reader is not normally able to save a modified document, but it can if usage rights are applied.
If you apply usage rights with Acrobat, you need to be aware of the relevant licensing restrictions. In short, if you will be deploying the form to more than 500 recipients, you may only use information from no more than 500 returned forms, including hardcopies. If fewer than 500 recipients, there are no limits.
An alternative to emailing the entire document is emailing just the form data, which does not require usage rights. The recipient can use Acrobat to import the form data into a blank form and then save/print.

Strange letters and numbers in bookmark titles after convert .doc to .pdf.

Hello everyone!
After comverting my Word document to a PDF, some of the bookmark titles now have "5T" or "6T" added to random places. Here's a screen shot. See the entry "capitolo" there is a "5T" added before, which isn't present in my word file. I'm running Windows 7, Acrobat 9 Pro, and Word 2007. T h a n k y o u s o s u c h !

Make sure your Acrobat is updated to the latest version (9.5.1). Help->Check for updates.

Briansyddal - you might be able to manage your phone without a PC, but many of us can't, especially those of us with large iTunes libraries. How do you propose I manage my 250GB of music using only a phone? Maybe I could go out and buy 10 iPhones and spread my library out among them!
Catz537 - I have the same problem as you and I've spent hours on the web trying to find a solution to it. It was a problem with iOS 7 and 8.1.1 doesn't fix it. The the only advice from Apple is completely useless because it requires you, effectively, to delete and recreate your iTunes library and lose all your metadata, album art, notes etc and there's also no guarantee it will work. I wish I could be more help (even more - I wish Apple could be more help) - I updated to 8.1.1 at 1400 today. At 2200 I'm still "waiting for changes to be applied" for a measly 16GB of music transfer.

Can FireFox 4.0 automatically sort bookmarks (both existing and when new bookmarks get added)?

I know that a user can right click on a list of bookmarks and select Sort By Name. This is a manual process. I am looking for a way for FireFox to do this for me automatically.

Simply because I don't think about using this option that takes more time to close... I always close ALL my windows with the X.
Firefox doesn't hang at exit also...
Using Firefox / Exit doesn't always save the bookmarks also... let's say there is 80% chances it will but not always... I noticed the first time I open firefox after booting the computer... Bookmarks won't be saved... But if I close firefox and re-open it, then it might save it... 50% guess...
I tried the safe mode, but since its closing firefox and re-open it... new saved bookmarks sometimes work, sometimes don't... it's pretty unstable...
Hopefully there is a solution to this problem in a near update, annoying... else I will simply reverse to firefox 3.6.16

Exporting from InDesign to PDF, and the updated PDF is larger than a month ago and not printing easily on letter paper, it is PDF presets?

I am exporting from InDesign to a PDF and the page is larger in the PDF then others I have exported. Is this because of the PDF presents? One of the project managers is not able to print it out on 8.5 x 11 paper, but the document presets for InDesign are the same as before. I wish I could upload the PDFs to show, but the newly exported PDF is larger than the version I created a month ago. I created a PDF binder and the newly updated PDF is almost a .5 inch wider with the same export presets. Any thoughts?

I suspect the project manager simply has his/her copy of Reader/Acrobat set to print at actual size, rather than "Fit" (assuming the InDesign page size is truly 8.5 x 11).

It would have nothing to do with export presets. How are you determining that half-inch difference?

Is there any other solution for Adobe Flash plugin crashing than the posted one about updating Flash and Mozilla? I cannot open any PDF files online and updated both Mozilla and Flash player to most recent with no change in the crashing.

I was able to open PDFs online until version 8. Since upgrading to version 9 and now 10, I have crashes every time I try to open a PDF online and can see the form briefly for about two seconds before the plugin crashes. I followed instructions on the solution to update Adobe Flash and Mozilla, and they are both to the most recent version and it still crashes every time, no dent in the symptoms with the upgrades. I tried also downgrading to version 3, and it sill crashes. Although in some cases I can get around by saving the PDFs for reading them through Acrobat on my PC, it is a hassle as I do not want to save everything to my drive just to see what it is, plus sometimes forms are generated on a click and I cannot see these forms at all.
I had to migrate to Chrome as I needed the PDFs and could not wait any longer - any suggestions to make Mozilla work again would be appreciated.
