Updating Pearl Address Book from laptop

I would like to create an address book exclusively for my Pearl, outside of my email account. Is there an app I can upload that will allow me to enter all the data in via the laptop versus on the pearl keyboard?

1. Enter your data in Outlook, or
2. Enter your data in Google Address Book, or
3. Enter you data in a Yahoo Address Book
Then, Desktop Manager via Sync.
Download Desktop Manager from here:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Choose Desktop Manager version 4.7

  • New iPad - how to copy/transfer Address Book from MacBook laptop ?

My wife has a new iPad and needs to transfer her contacts (Address Book) from her laptop MacBook to the iPad.    Can she also transfer photos and other stuff without using Cloud.
Is there an on-line manual for the basics ?   Many thanks
              Eric

It's all in the User Guide:
    http://support.apple.com/manuals/#ipad
The User Guide is also built in to the iPad in your Safari Bookmarks.

  • Transfer Address Book from Pearl to Curve

The USB port on the Pearl is partially broken so that it will take a charge but not transfer data. So I bought a Curve and want to use bluetooth to transfer the address book from the Pearl to the Curve if possible.  Is that possible?
Here is what I've done. I added the Pearl as a bluetooth device on the Curve and the Curve onto the Pearl. In Bluetooth options on each device, I set the Discoverable as Yes, Allow Outgoing Calls as Always, and Address Book Transfer as All Entries. Then I had one device Search for the Other which was set to 'Allow another device to find me.' The searching device showed "1 found" then listed "No new device found; ensure the device you are searching for is in pairing mode. Search again?" I reversed the process and had the Curve search and the Pearl "Allow". No success. What else do I need to do?
I tried to connect the Pearl to the Blackberry Desktop Manager via bluetooth but although my Tecra device manager shows that there is a bluetooth rfcomm, the Bluetooth Local Com says there are no existing com ports and the bluetooth device is not ready. The Tecra device manager lists the following ports - BT Com 19, BT Com 20, BT Com 21, and RIM Virtual Serial Port V2 9 and Port V2 10.
Is there any way to avoid having to re-enter all 387 contacts which include names, mutliple phone numbers and addresses???
    Bruce

I bought a USB BlueTooth dongle for those situations and Sync the phone with desktop manager.

The address book syncs via iCloud, not Bluetooth or iTunes.
You upgraded to Lion so you could use iCoud.
On the computer. go to Apple menu > System prefs > iCloud.
    Sign into your iCloud account.
    Tick everything.
This enalbes the se items syncing to iCloud.
On the iPad, Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Create a new iCloud account.
Sign in with the same AppleID as your computer.
Settings > iCloud and turn everything on.
    BAM!
That is all you need to do.
Your contacts (and all other checked items checked) will sync between computer and iPad.
    No need to use iTunes

  • Contacts Created on iPhone not syncing over to Address Book on laptop.

Contacts created in Address Book on laptop do sync over to iPhone - no problem - but not the other way around. I must retype contacts daily created in the field to laptop. Apple specialist unable to find the problem. Passed on to engineering, end of January. Haven't heard a word.
It worked fine until I updated 1.1.3. I had many issues after that update and am really leary of 1.1.4 after reading threads here. Have not updated.
Also drives me crazy having to spin that stupid wheel to find contacts. Come on do designers actually use this thing?
On the whole I'm happy with the iphone

I tried erasing all the phone data as you suggested, but to no effect whatsoever (apart from having to setup my email/wifi etc. all over again).
There's definitely something strange going on with the iPhone -> Mac connection. iPhoto shows the iPhone as being connected, even when it's not, and is still showing 23 pictures, which is what was on the phone before I reset it (they are now gone from the phone). iPhoto also calls it 'Apple iPhone', while I've changed the name to something else.
Calendar syncing is still functioning flawlessly, but contacts created on the phone are still not being transferred.
What's more, the contacts I added to the iPhone before I reset all the data were still on the phone afterwards.

  • How on earth do I restore my old Address Book from Time Machine?

Problem: I really, really need to retrieve someone's number. I know it'll be in an old version of my Address Book. I can see when I open time Machine that my address book is backed up, but no matter the date I go to, it says the Address Book was last modified in 2012! I know for a fact I've updated (and backed up) the Address Book many times since then.
Whenever I try to restore the Address Book, I do Time Machine > Applications > Address Book > 'restore'. But whenever I do this, the mac refuses to open the restored Address Book because it's 'required by mac OS X'.
    I don't understand.
Please, how on earth do I dredge my Address Book from the depths of Time Machine?
    Please help!
    M

    Look at Q15 here. http://pondini.org/TM/FAQ.html
There are separate sections for iphoto and itunes.
It has to be so complicated because Apple made TM to do too much and be too many things to too many people.. a horse designed by a committee. It has become flakey in later editions.
If you still have the iMac you can move the files directly from the source.. you don't need to use TM backups at all.

  • Access Address Book from Menu Bar ?

There used to be a few utilities that allowed access to the Address Book from the menu bar, but they haven't been updated for years.
Anyone know of a good solution?

Yeah, I thought that too, but reinstalling iAddressX did not help. The utility didn't work (and also did not create any new files in the Application Support/AddressBook folder).
I don't think iAddressX was interfering with the Address Book, since I've been using them both under Leopard since day 1 of Leopard. My sync problems developed just a few days ago. I was just wondering if I deleted something that was needed for iAddressX to work (or worse, will cause me other problems down the road).

  • How to transfer or copy my complete address book from my BB to another smartphone

Hello Everybody, Could someone tell me how to transfer or copy my complete address book from my BB Torch 9800 to another smartphone and vice-versa? Many thanks in advance for your replies. Best regards, Eric ---------------------------------------- [email protected]

You didn't say what format the other phone will need to import a file into it. That is important.
But creating and exporting your BlackBerry contacts to a generic ascii csv file is possible.:

  • Script to Update SL Address Book with Lion Address Book?

The only thing stopping me from switching from mobileme to icloud is my wife's imac, which is a little too old for Lion.  I have seen workarounds to sync calendars and mail, but not address books, via icloud.  Since it should be possible to export an address book from the Lion box and import it to the Snow Leopard box, perhaps that could be done automatically, once a day, using a script of some kind over my home network.  What would such a script look like?
Any other ideas for periodically replacing/updating the address book on my wife's SL mac with the address book on my Lion mac(s)?

The database probably won't do you any good: trying to replace it automatically is likely to fail as it's already in use. That at least was what I found.
You could export the entire contacts list as a vCard, and import it into the other address book, though you would of course need to delete the entire list there first in order to prevent duplications.

  • HT1296 I have the original iPhone and I can't sync the address book from my Mac to the iPhone. What should be the problem and can I sync?

I have the original iPhone and I can't sync the address book from my Mac to the iPhone. What should be the problem and can I sync?

Thanks a lot for the answer. I'm so upset, have no even one contact on my phone. I has to do with the moving to iCloud from MobileMe.
I did exactly what you wrote, and when trying to click the vcf file on the iPhone the screen freezing, and then after few long seconds it goes alon to home.
So I tried less contacts in a Vcard, and i'm dividing my address book, doing little by little and it work.
    Thank you so much.
I still dont get why the sync with my computer address book is not working.
And why when I moved to icloud all the photos I had next to the contacts are disappered.
I had my iPad, which it still, I did not move from MobileMe to iCloud and all the photos are there!
Anything I can do to use the iCloud on the iPad as well and update the iCloud with the photos?

    Hi there!
The device switch wizard is available for many non-BB devices...see this KB:
KB05459 How to use the Switch Device Wizard to switch from another smartphone to a BlackBerry smartphone
If your old device is not compatible with the wizard, then you need to find out if the old device can export the data you desire so that the BB can import it:
KB11194 How to import contacts from an CSV file to the BlackBerry device
If you are already using a compatible desktop PIM with your old device, then the RIM software can import from the PIM and bypass the old device completely:
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
KB17022 How to configure synchronization settings for BlackBerry Desktop Manager
If that does not work, then please return to these forums (http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/) and register an account so that we can provide you with direct assistance.

  • Transferring Address Book From 10.4 to 10.6

Please excuse if this has been already asked..
I am trying to transfer an address book from 10.4 to 10.6. I export the address book on 10.4 and import it on 10.6.
When I do so it brings over duplicated/deleted files and groups(i.e. if my email was [email protected] and I updated it to [email protected] and transfered to the new computer it would bring up BOTH [email protected] and [email protected]
I have deleted plists, meta data, configuration lists etc, but the old data will not stay deleted.
    Any ideas?

This is the doc you need for exporting and importing your contacts, http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=AddressBook/5.0/en/9160.html
This is the one your need for your iTunes, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527

  • Update for Address Book

When I downloaded the update 10.5.3, it said it would update my address book. I don't thin it did.
It still says 2007 license and I can't sync with Google Contacts!
Does anyone know what is wrong?

The Address Book application in Mac OS X 10.5.3 now lets _*iPhone users*_ sync their Address Book with Google Contacts.
If you aren't an iPhone owner, or you simply have reasons for not wanting to use this new solution, Syncman and Spanning Sync 2.0 (when it arrives) should still be viable options.
    Update
General consensus from commenters says that if your machine has never touched an iPhone or iPod touch, you aren't likely to see this feature (just like Google stated).
Do you have an iPhoto or an iPod Touch? according to the Google article his feature is only available if you do
