Updating Removed All Plugins & Bookmarks

After Updating Firefox to the recent release ALL of my Plugins & Bookmarks have vanished...
I only clicked "Restart" on the pop-up asking me to restart to update...
Once update completed and Firefox launched, my bookmarks and plugins are gone.

Firefox might have created a new profile for some reason. To see whether you have another profile, try this:
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
This will open your currently active personal settings folder, also known as a Firefox profile folder, in Windows Explorer. If you navigate up one level, can you see another profile folder? The naming convention includes a lot of gibberish characters.
If you see another folder, take note of some part of its name (e.g., default is common). Then close this folder and exit Firefox.
To start Firefox in a different profile, you can use the profile manager.
Start menu > search box, type or paste
firefox.exe -P
then press Enter. Don't delete or remove anything here, just highlight the earlier profile and start Firefox. Does that one have your settings?

How can I remove all my bookmarks from iCloud and start a fresh with only the ones on my iMac

I accidentally deleted bookmark gilders on my iPad 4 and iCloud removed them from my iMac, iPhone 5, iPhone 4, iPad 2 and MacBook Pro. I turned off Safari on all devices for syncing with iCloud and used Time Machine to restore my Bookmarks.plist on my iMac, but iCloud keeps removing it and replacing the plist with the latest version. Just a note about the difference between these two things:
* "export" and "import" use an ancient HTML document format that all browsers can understand. When you import bookmarks, Firefox may place them into an Imported Bookmarks folder, or into Unsorted Bookmarks. This does not displace existing bookmarks, and Firefox does not automatically remove duplicates.
* "backup" and "restore" use a more comprehensive JSON data file, which contains extra information about your bookmarks (such as tags) not contained in the traditional export file. HOWEVER, a restore completely replaces all existing bookmarks, so the restore feature cannot be used to merge in a set of additional bookmarks.

Some users find the disk-based Windows Favorites folder a convenient way to organize bookmarks. If you do, too, and you do not need to preserve tags on your bookmarks, you could export each profile's bookmarks to HTML and import them all into IE11. Organize them in the Windows Favorites folder, then export from IE11 to HTML and import that file into each Firefox profile. Windows updates removes all tabs and tab groups so I have to regularly do a system restore to get them back.

When there is an automatic update from Windows or Microsoft Security Essentials, it regularly has removed all my tabs and tab groups. A very frustrating occurance so I have to do a system restore to get all these back. Any solutions to this issue?

After your computer restarts, you should be able to choose '''[[Session Restore|"Restore Previous Session" from Firefox's History menu]]''' to restore all your tabs and groups from last time.
For this to work, Firefox must be set to remember history in the [[Options window - Privacy panel]].

You should copy your iTunes library from the older computer to your new laptop using one of the methods described in this Apple support document.

Droid Razr M Kitkat 4.4.2 Update Removes All Wireless and Network Connectivity

For 2 days a screen has been popping up on my phone urging me to download and install Android 4.4.2 Kitkat. What could go wrong, I asked myself? Oh, brother!
Before: Android Jellybean has been chugging along contentedly on my phone for nearly a year. I love my phone. It has served me very well. I get a clear and full-strength signal from anywhere in my home using my personal router, and get a signal matching in quality to the strength and distance of Wi-Fi routers when I am out and about. (I previously had an HTC Desire with US Cellular and could NOT get a clear signal of 4 bars except very rarely. Usually I got 1 or no bars. Caveat: I live out in the country.) My Verizon Droid gets 4G network 5 X 5 almost always out here. Let's just say I've been very satisfied.
After: Android Kitkat is installed. Yay! Oh, phone. Why you no work no more? It's really simple. I have no wireless connection, even though the router is working perfectly and this is proved by the fact that my wife is online in the next room with her computer. I also have no 4G connection. I have no 3G connection. I HAVE NO CONNECTION! I have a brick which I can't even play my games on because they can't connect with the game servers.
So, first, thank you, Verizon, for sending out a product that has clearly not been properly tested. A casual look at the forums and other websites will show that this problem isn't peculiar to my phone. It's all over the country.
Second, please patch this pronto! My phone is dead! Dead to me, I say! Unless I have internet connections and the ability to make and receive phone calls, I will have to consider throwing in the Verizon towel and finding a competitor who can actually roll out a successful update.

I fixed it! By myself! Me! Single-handedly! OK, I fixed it by accident after trying every thing that I saw mentioned on these forums regarding the update problems. What worked? No clue. I did: 3 soft resets; 3 switching on and off wireless; 5 forgetting and re-discovering my router and re-entering all the password key info; turned it off and left it off for 2 hours; changed/toggled every state of every wireless and data connection switch 5 times.
I'm not sure which of these worked. After turning it off and turning it back on after all the above attempts, I had signals. Wireless and 4G. Who knows why. So, dear Verizon, I take back the mean things I said. I'm sure you were trying as hard as you could in a stressful situation. Neither of us was at our best. Let's just agree to let it go and move on. OK? OK?

ITunes 11.1 update removed all uninstalled updates for my Apps

I just installed the iTunes 11.1 update on a Mac running 10.8.5, and all went fine (overall it seems faster and more responsive) until I went to check on some App updates I had pending for my Apps (purchased from the iTunes store). I had 3 or 4 unapplied ones before the update, but now it says there are no updates available for my Apps (even though there are). I restarted and logged in and out of iTunes, but still no App updates. If I go to the associated iDevices, they all show the updates as before. If I go to the iTunes Store to the particular app that has an update, it shows "update" as opposed to the "$ Buy" as shown for unpurchased apps. So the iDevices and iTunes directly show the updates, but not if I go to the App Category in the Library (where Music, TV Shows, etc. are listed) and go to updates - nothing (All Apps Are Up to Date). So I can get updates, it's just a more convoluted process and iTunes is not doing what it's supposed to do.
Some birth pangs for the new iTunes update or has anyone else seen this issue?

Update: As of this morning the updates were GONE again, so I'm thinking this may recur on and off until all settles after the launch of new software and iDevices this week.

Firefox removed all my bookmarks after joining domain

my system administrator joined my computer on domain and all my bookmarks were gone. How to get them back?

If you are experiencing problems with Firefox, instead of trying to find the cause of the problem and fix it, sometimes it is easier to create a new profile and copy it over your data importantes.La Reset Firefox feature will do it for you automatically.

Firefox updated itself and in the process removed all my bookmarks. A search of my computer doesn't find any old bookmarks that can be imported. Has this happened to anybody else?

Everytime I update Firefox, all my bookmarks are erased. How do I prevent this from happening?

Every time that I am prompted to update to the newest version of Firefox and then follow the procedure, all of my bookmarks and personal settings are erased. This has happened the past two times that I have updated to the newest version of Firefox. Is there any way to prevent all my information from being erased? Also, in an unrelated matter...I am wondering if there is any way to set Google as my preferred search engine. Do you know how I might do this?

Latest Firefox update removes all my add-ons/extensions

I have Win XP Pro SR-3 & Firefox 28.0. I wanted to update to the latest Firefox version by going to Help/About/Check for updates. However, the new version does 2 things that I can't change:
1. It removed the sidebar that contained all my extensions & I can't find them. Can I restore the sidebar?
2. The color of the new tabs that are not active is the same color as the strip that they're on, so their very hard to read. Can I change the color of inactive tabs...or better yet, the strip that they're on?
I also have a 3rd general question. I had a lot of trouble getting to this forum. I had to go to a question that I asked a year ago & then ask a new question. I also couldn't logon to Mozillazine & don't know the difference between that forum & this one. Could you please enlighten me & tell me what the easiest way to first search & then ask a question?

ITunes Update Removed All File Associations in iTunes

This is ridiculous. I installed the latest iTunes update and when I opened iTunes, all of my music was gone. Did this happen to you?
I found a way to fix this problem. Your music should still be in MyDocuments/iTunes in individual folders for your artists. All you need to do is import the entire iTunes folder and it should work. This should also include your Podcasts.
What this won't do, however, is re-associate your purchases and downloads.

Torch update removed all bbm contacts..

Hey there!
So today i got a notification saying i needed to update my OS or something,so i did..
Halfway through my phone crashed out,then got stuck on the loading screen(One that happens after a battery pull)
When it eventually turned on and sorted itself out,I went onto BBM to find i had no contacts at all..
I had backed the phone up before the update had happened(through the phone) but when i looked to restore contacts through a file save/back up file..it said there was none
Is there anyway i can get my contacts back?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
If, before this happened, you were on BBM7, then your BBM contacts were technically stored on the BB servers, not on the device...when you log into the device using the exact same BBID credentials, your BBM contacts are shown on your device.
But, if you were not up to BBM7 when this happened, then BBM contact backup/restore was a much trickier proposition, and were NOT included as part of any "standard" backup processes. You can find instructions about that via the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post. Suffice to say that restore now depends on a source of that data having been created BEFORE this happened...if you have no backup source from which to now restore, then there is no restore possible.

Hp update removed all documents

Monday evening my HP laptop (HP TouchSmart tm2t-1100 CTO) had an automatic update when it was shut down for the evening. Now, Tuesday, I find all my documents, photos, music, are gone. My programs such as Microsoft Word are still installed but have been asked to be re-registered, same with Photoshop or iTunes. Is there anything that can be done to remedy this situation?

Use microsoft system restore to go back to a time before the update occured. It should replace all the registry hives and put things back to the way they were. Are the bookmark backups gone from the profile? I would try restoring them first before anything else. The profile for Firefox is in the Library for the user account. The easy way to find the profile is to click "Troubleshooting Information" in the Help menu and then click the button "Show in Finder". It is possible to backup bookmarks to another directory outside the profile from the Backup and Restore button in the toolbar in the bookmarks library window. That way you have a backup set of bookmarks you can restore even if the profile goes missing.
