Updating Roxio Creator on Win7

I'ave updated to Win7 Pro and am trying to reload the Business Center with My DVD from the lenovo site. It loads in compatibility mode with XP, but after installation and the initial run, it gives a message "The certificate file is missing or has been corrupted. Please reinstall it.". Is this certificate file its looking for in the download, or is it a separate file somewhere?

In my opinion updates only necessary if something doesnt work properly
I dont use Toshiba CD creator because there are some good alternative (freeware) programs, like CD Burner XP. Have you ever heard of that?

Roxio Creator 2010 not installing on Windows 7

I recently installed Window 7 Home Premium via a clean install. Have been reinstalling programs as time permits. Had to upgrade to Roxio Creator 2010 as my older version would not work. First attempt at install gave an error stating that the installation had been interrupted. As I recall, it was when the installation routine was trying to install DirectX 9. This doesn't make sense since my computer shows DirectX 12 as being installed. The installation ended.
Subsequent tries at the installation have resulted in stoppages with the message "Setup has determined that your configuration does not support any of the included products".
I have been going back and forth with Roxio tech support without success. Thought that I would try here.
They have told me to uninstall Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5.1, then update both DirectX and Microsoft.NET Framework.
Microsoft.NET Framework (any version) does NOT appear in the "Uninstall or change programs" listing. It does, however, appear in the "Turn Windows features on or off" listing. It was first found to be turned off. I subsequently turned on all of its features. I understand that .NET is 'built-in' to W7. Is that why it doesn't appear in the "Uninstall...." list or do I have a problem there?
I downloaded dotnetfx35.exe and dotNetFx35setup.exe from the MS site. The User Account Control box appears when either is selected. When the "Yes" box is selected, each program appears to terminate without further action. Does this mean that the installation was previously completed?
When I tried the DirectX update, I got a message that I was at the latest level.
Roxio's "Clean Install" routine, their knowledgebase article 000207CR, was performed at least four times under different circumstances without success.

I had the same problem with the install at the point where the Roxio 2010 installer gets stuck on installing Microsoft.Net v3,5 SP1. I went back and forth with Roxio tech support and Microsoft for two weeks. Thanks to my IT background, I finally got Roxio Creator 2010 installed.
Here is the fix:
1.   Go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=333325FD-AE52-4E35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en and download "dotNetFx35setup.exe". Save it to your desktop.
2.   Go to "Turn Windows Features on or off" Deselect Microsoft.net 3.5 SP1.
3.   Then right click on the Roxio Digital downloaded file and choose the Compatibility mode tab.
4.   Change the Compatibility mode to "Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)".
5.   Use an unpacking program such as "WinRar" to Unpack the Digital download to a specific location.
6.   After unpacking, go to unpacked folder location "RoxioCreator2010".
7.   Then open the folder "DOTNETFX_351" and go to folder "wcu" and open the folder, go to folder "dotNetFramework" and open the folder.
8.   Replace the file "dotNetFx35setup.exe" you downloaded with the file in this folder.
9.   Then right click on the file "dotNetFx35setup" and change the compatibility mode to "Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)".
10. Now run the Roxio Installer. The installer will take at least 15 minutes or more to finish.

I uninstalled Roxio Creator NXT Pro (& used their cleanup program and CCleaner only on Roxio remnants) and the problem disappeared. Did a complete re-install of Roxio and the same problem came back. Curious as to why WMP would link to a Roxio
DLL anyway. BTW: Windows Media Center plays the same MPG files (w Roxiol) just fine so maybe not worth the $$$ below. Had no problem with WMP & Roxio Creator 2011 but the USB video capture device failed so I had to upgrade.
Per incident: Roxio wants $25 / MS wants $49. Thought I'd try "free" here first, not sure who owns this problem.
(I guess the ~$49 Roxio Easy VHS to DVD Converter package has NO SUPPORT and 65% ONE STAR Amazon reviews - support only for their "Premium Products") Maybe if they sold stuff that worked none of them would
need "support"!

(a) My account is an administrator account.
(b) I did try turning WMP and WMC on and off independently within and without Roxio installed. Without Roxio WMP works fine. WMC works either way.
(c) I did several more uninstalls / re-installs of Roxio product including using Revo Unistaller and Roxio's c2011_systemclean.bat "clean-up uninstall tool"). None of which worked and even made it worse (see below).
My original key question still is: Why does WMP fault via a Roxio dll? dsfOggDemux2.dll (codec). How is this even possible for there to be such a linkage?
After all this effort now a clean reinstall of Roxio NXT Pro leaves me with this -->

Although the two Roxio programs I use will start via shortcuts: mediacapture14.exe &
mediamanager14.exe
When the later program occasionally stops working, the application error, is via ntdll.dll which I noticed was updated in a series of Windows updates (about 12-14 of them) around the 8/27/2013 timeframe. I kind of don't believe in co-incidences.
My one and only Roxio Forum responder kind of suggested "why you and nobody else?" (having these problems, i.e., I am the crazy nut job here) to which I referred him to the hundreds of reviews on Amazon, etc that gave Roxio 2012 products, etc ONE STAR or
less (about 50% out of >300). I NEVER had this much trouble with Roxio 2009-2011. Must be that new Corel culture ownership sinking in.

Creative MediaSource 5 and Roxio Creator 2009 Incompatabilit

Hi,
I would just like to bring to your attention what appears to be a program incompatability between one of the Roxio 2009 Creator Suite applications and Creai've MediaSource 5.
When the end-user installs the suite, and updates, and reboots, if the user were then to launch Creative MediaSource 5, it will launch the Windows Installer and begin configuring CinePlayer and ask for the install media.
This will happen everytime the application is launched.
If you require any further information for diagnostics purposes, please let me know.

I?have both?Roxio Creator Suite 2009 ultimate version ..0 build B0E and Mediasource 5.20.23 on my PC (XP SP3) and do not observe that. Mediasource organiser or player open normally, no windows installer launch. Roxio Cineplayer works normally, as do all other parts of the suite.
However, I have not (yet) had?any updates to creator 2009 offered, so maybe that update you mention?is what causes the problem in your case. On the Roxio boards, some report getting offered an update, others not. You could check out there, see if anyone has similar problem, or post there.

Updates for Creator 1

Hi Creator Team:
Are we going to see a new set of updates for Creator 1? Its been 6 months and lots of bugs reported since Update 7

I find this response quite distrubing for a number of reasons.
1] Many of us are committed to Creator 1 for a product lifecycle. Bugs in the JSF framwork (such as unclosed rowsets etc.) place our projects at significant risk.
2] There is no "smooth transistion" to Creator 2 as existing pages cannot be upgraded and therefore, exising Creator 1 bugs remain in the framework.
3] Creator 2 is not available and no release date has been set.
4] There are significant architecture changes in Creator 2's framework which are not compatible with Creator 1.
I don't know about the rest of the community but I find Sun's abandonment of Creator 1 extremely annoying, shortsighted and insulting to those of us who have supported Sun. I am now considering moving our application off the platform and onto more dependable technology managed by a company with more sensitivity to those who, in retrospect, mistakenly, choose to rely on Sun.

Photoshop Premiere Elements 11 and Roxio Creator

Hi,
when installing the above software there was a message saying 'Unable to stop Roxio Creator' but the installation continued and seems to be fine.
I do not use Roxio Creator I think it came with the PC (Dell).
Will this cause problems in the future and should I remove it?

If your computer came with Roxio, and it is in your startup list so it runs every time you start your computer, you MAY have problems creating a DVD
Do you know how to analyze what is in your startup, and STOP a program from starting every time you start your computer?

Roxio Creator 2009 And Desktop 4.7

I just reinstalled Vista 32 on my pc. I also just installed Roxio Creator 2009, and I need to reinstall my Blackberry Desktop software. I see that the latest version is 4.7, and it comes in two flavors: with and without Roxio Media Manager.
I suspect that, because I have Roxio's latest version, I don't want the Media Manager from Blackberry Desktop Manager. If I were to load both, I might create conflicts or other problems. Am I correct to rely upon Roxio Creator 2009 and load the Desktop 4.7 without Roxio Media Manager?
I'd like to keep my pc as clean as possible. Reinstalling software is no fun.

You are indeed correct, if you were to install Media Manager with other Roxio software installed, it will cause conflicts and possibly break both apps.
If you do not want to use Media Manager, you can always enable mass storage mode on your BlackBerry and drag and drop the files via My computer.

Roxio Creator 2009 No Longer Works

I am using Vista 32 bit O/S with all the patches.
When I upgraded to the latest Desktop version (version 96) of the software recently, I found that my Roxio Creator 2009 no longer works. I can't even open the application up. When I go to start the Roxio software, I just get a message that "Roxio Creator has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
Any suggestions for getting my Roxio Creator software to function again?

What does this have to do with Blackberry?
Before the upgrade, it worked. After the upgrade, it doesn't work. That's what it has to do with BlackBerry.

Not to my knowledge, although I am not certain. I tried to avoid installing the Roxio Media Manager. I just see on my Desktop software:
- Applications
- Organizer
- Media Sync
- Music
- Pictures
- Videos
When I go About BlackBerry Desktop Software and View details on installed components, I don't see anything related to Roxio.
Where do I check to be sure?
If so, that does interfere with other installations of Roxio. You'll need to uninstall Roxio Media manager and reinstall your othe Roxio software.
Again, I don't believe that I loaded Roxio Media Manager. I am not sure where to check.
If required, how do I uninstall Roxio Media Manager from BlackBerry new desktop software?

Roxio Creator download for clean install?

I have an A58 and have done a clean install of Windows 7. I'm able to download and install almost everything I need except the Roxio Creator Small Business Edition that came pre-installed.
Does anyone know where it is available for download?
I have found the following link which allows you to download, but it is not supported for the A58 only the A62, and when installing it says not supported in A58 environment

On your machine you should have a directory called C:\SWTOOLS\APPS (before any upgrade).
That should contain the Roxio version for your machine.

Edit /usr/share/applications/qtcreator.desktop and replace the icon path with /usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/apps/qtcreator.png

ITunes 10.7 update kills wifi on Win7

I've fixed a problem I was having and hope that maybe this thread helps someone else having a similar issue.
My computer has Win7 with all the updates as I do updates religiously as soon as I'm notified there's something to install.
My wifi connection stopped working after each attempt to update iTunes 10.6 to 10.7. The issue took me several days to finally figure out how to fix the problem. Let me re-state that sentence. My problem is fixed and I know what I did that fixed it, but I don't know if the problem itself came from a software program called Audials One 9 interfering with iTunes but my fix makes it seem like that's the case. So here goes.
I've been using iTunes for many years now and I learned about Audials One 9 several months ago. I purchased and installed Audials One 9 and although I wasn't enamored with it, I left it installed and until now, I completely forgot about it.
Several weeks ago when iTunes 10.7 was released, I attempted updating iTunes it from 10.6 and multiple times, the upgrade was unsuccessful. During the upgrade process, my wifi connection to the internet would stop working so for the first time ever, I had to learn how to use Windows Restore Point. Thankfully, that feature works quite well. (One installation attempt actually resulted in the BSOD - blue screen of death!)
The issues I was having during the iTunes upgrade, disabled Wifi connectivity to the Internet. I could see my router from my computer, but I couldn't get an internet connection. I tried my Wifi hotspot just to see if it was a router issue and I saw the same problem so I basically confirmed the router was fine and I didn't have to go through an inconvenient power-down and re-set of the router.
I decided to uninstall iTunes and since I know that the uninstallation process can also get botched up, I went to the Apple site to find the iTunes uninstall instructions to verify what I needed to uninstall. It turns out, there is a sequence for unstalling the entire iTunes suite. I'm not sure what to call it, but you can find the list here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925 and a better explanation than what I'm writing.
During the installation process, I stumbled upon another link on the Apple site that indicated that iTunes might not be the only culprit to the Wifi connectivity issue on the Apple site. Information found on this second Apple support link explains how to get iTunes to go into Safe Mode so you can troubleshoot any interference caused by plug-ins or scripts not manufactured by Apple. I almost skipped reading this section but thankfully I did not. Reading this section triggered me remembering that I had purchased Audials and that I had also used Rinse to help fix missing artwork. I had since uninstalled Rinse many months ago because it completely messed up my artwork and I had to spend almost 2 days fixing the errors that program caused, but, I hadn't uninstalled Audials so I proceeded to uninstall Audials along with uninstalling iTunes 10.6.
Next, I went ahead and installed Windows Updates as I always keep my machine up to date with Windows Updates but since I had used Restore Point earlier in the day, I had a few updates I had to install to get back up to date on Windows updates. The Update session generated a new Restore Point which I was thankful for since Wifi was working like it should.
After the reboot which follows at the end of the Windows Update process, I downloaded iTunes 10.7 and installed it. All the while, crossing my fingers and holding my breath. I have a lot of purchases through iTunes that have accumulated over the years and I was at wits end with this issue already but, GREAT NEWS! The iTunes 7 installation went flawlessly. As soon as I opened iTunes, my library was in tact, all artwork was as it should be and the iTunes Store log-in worked fine too.
I post this information here because of the potential that someone in the user community finds this thread helpful.

(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Getting sound into roxio creator 9

last year I purchased an HP with windows 7. There are some radio programs I record from the internet with creator 9 but since windows 7 and realtek HD I can't get any audio from the soundcard to use the record feature. My older computer with windows xp and the same roxio program worked great. What's my problem?

EMC 9 was not designed for Windows 7 nor was Creator 2009. Creator 2010 is the current application made for Windows 7. I have all three versions.
If you are using Sound Editor then when you click on record audio you should see another window or drop down tab to select the audio source.
Go over to the Roxio support BB and post the question under the Legacy Applications EMC 9 and see what you get for an answer.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.
