Updating rule set in CC from SAP

Hi - if anyone can help with this issue - I'd greatly appreciate it.
We loaded CC 5.2 last year and loaded all of our custom transactions to the appropriate functions. However, since then, there have been changes to standard and custom transactions (in the authorization objects) and those changes are not showing up in the rule set. (we added new authorization objects) Is there a way to have the rule set update automatically with these?
We are running the two SAP jobs that export the texts and objects and then we have two jobs running daily in CC to bring in from those files. We then have a full system sync running daily. Updates are still not coming in.
Any help is appreciated!

HI Elizabeth,
When you say you have added new Authorization objects, do you mean to say that you have added to the roles?
I strongly recommend to go to SU24 tcode and check whether the new Authorization objects are properly Check/Maintained to the respective Tcodes.
Also merge all the new authorization data in all the roles and regenerate them.
Also you need to update the rules once the above steps are done.

In principle you can mix systems of different releases in one CUA landscape; and you can also freely choose any of them to be the CUA master.
However, you should keep in mind that new features and thus potentially also new user master data attributes will be added with newer releases. Therefore it is generally advised that the CUA master system should have a newer release. Otherwise the CUA master system would not be capable of storing and providing user master data attributes which might be demanded by some CUA client systems.

Update rules not getting installed from business content.

Hello,
One more major issue I am seeing is that my update rules for some cubes (0PUR_C01)are not getting installed at all from business content and the errors i am getting are like datasource 0vendor_text not maintained and then there is long list of such red lights. when actually I can see most of the datasources active in the datasource tab on BW side.
So i dont know how to get these update rules working.

How to migrate Master Data (Rule set etc.) from GRC 5.3 to 10.1 without using the "Migration Tool"

We are currently on GRC 5.3 SP 18 (Java ONLY) and migrating to GRC 10.1. I referred the Migration Guide which outlines that GRC 5.3 needs to be upgraded to SP 20 as pre-requisite for using the "Migration Tool" . Our BASIS team is reluctant to perform this upgrade from SP 18 to SP 20.
Having said thus, I'm exploring options of migrating data from 5.3 to 10.1 without using the "Migration Tool:.
Rule set Migration:
I'm in the process of preparing the 9 different files (listed below) and later utilize the "Upload Rule" option for migrating the Rule set data from 5.3 to 10.1.
While I'm able to gather data for most of the files I'm not sure how can I obtain the data pertaining to the two files (Function Actions and Function Permissions) underlined and highlighted in Red below.
1. Business Process

3. Function Business Process
4. Function Actions
5 .Function Permissions
6. Rule Set
7. Risk
8. Risk Description
9. Risk Rule Set Relationship
10. Risk Owner Relationship
Can someone please enlighten me and share their experience with regards to this exercise. Really appreciate your help !

I have done this successfully before. Because you are having issues, I would NOT recommend using the migration tool to move the ruleset. Instead:
1. Download the ruleset files from 5.3
2. The 5.3 tcode-permission file, which defines which tcode permissions from SU24 need to be checked during risk analysis, needs to be split into the two files you mention above in red.
FUNCTION_ACTION : this file represents S_TCODE objects and TCD fields mapped to each function (Function to Tcode relationship). In the 5.3 file, you will filter on object S_TCODE and field TCD, and you will get a complete list that now represents "FUNCTION_ACTION". BUT instead of having all the jumbled permission info, you will just have 3 columns: Function - Tcode - Status.
3. The remaining permissions that are left over, after taking out the S_TCODE -TCD items, represent the "FUNCTION_PERMISSION" file in GRC 10.
4. Manually create the excel spreadsheets for each file.
5. Copy and past each sheet to a unique .txt file.
6. Upload the ruleset manually through SPRO-->GRC-->Access Control-->Access Risk Analysis-->SoD Rules-->Upload SoD Rules.
7. Select each file and then upload to the correct Logical Group.
This is a huge pain, but it works. Let me know how this goes and if you need any assistance.

Please check the following points.
1. Please check the settings that you maintained in the table CRMSUBTAB in ECC. You need to have an entry as follows:
User: CRM
Object: VENDOR_MAIN
U/D : DOWNLOAD
Object Class: VEND ( & not BUPA for this entry)
Function Module: PI_BP_VENDOR_MAIN_EXTRACT
The other entry (for upload) has similar but different values. (Refer to the OSS note 883162.)
2. Check if you have applied any filter settings in CRM for the adapter object VENDOR_MAIN.

Rule groups--Any one from SAP can answer??

I have created 2 rule groups..
1) One rule group with a formula.
2)other rule group i havent mapped few fields..left them empty.
But whenever I load data it always executes rule group1..when can or how can I see the 2nd rule group execution..
Any one who worked on this?
Did anyone tested rulegroups..?

First of all this is not a SAP Support system. For that you have service.sap.com. Therfore please do not get angry when people do not reply.
However - major hint - try previewing the iview in the portal content directory then holding ctrl right mouse click on the item you want to personalise.

COLLECT statement in start routine of update rules for data coming from R/3

I have more than one record with the same key combination that comes from R/3. I have a condition wherein I write into an error log. Hence I want only ione entry to be written into a error log and not multiple instances.
I had written a similar one for ODS.
Loop at IT_ODS into WA_ODS.
Collect WA_ODS into IT_SUM.
How to collect data that is coming in from R/3. Any inputs?

"Old" update rule from ODS not working

Hi Gurus,
I need to set up the "old" fashioned update rule to load data from an ODS1 to another ODS2.
The thing is that I need to set up an update rule because I need to implement a Return Table Routine that is not supported (as far as I know) by the new Transformation/DTP.
When I select option (through the right mouse click over ODS1) "Other Options" - "Create Update Rule" it takes me out of the RSA1 and leaves me in the main menu making it impossible to create a new update rule.
The strange thing is that I have this working from and ODS to an InfoCube.....
Suggestions, a workaround??

Just to confirm that this is not working. The tys_TG_1 structure only shows me the target infoprovider structure. Check that in the how to, to be able to derive employee first you need to assign eache source_filed to the result_field leaving employee blank.
I need to have in the same place, the source_field structure (source infoprovider field structure) and the result_field structure (target infoprovider structure). That is what the "old" return table gives me as in the same place I can have the communication_structure (source infoprovider field structure) with the return_table structure (target infoprovider structure).
Just to understand, in the source infoprovider I have 12 Key Figures (1 for each period) and I have to split each incoming record to 12 records. If I work only with the result_field structure tys_TG_1 and the result_package tyt_TG_1 I'm not able the see those 12 KF.
So... return table functionality is not fully supported by BW 7 as far as I know.
Any other ideas why I'm not able to create the old Update Rules from an ODS?

Extraction time while updating the data from update rule

Can you please tell me that why it is taking more time while updating the data from update rule to data target.
I believe that it is taking 40% of total extraction time.
Is there any specific reason for it?

There is a requirement for us to update few risks(objects within the risk) for our non-business ruleset. What is the best suggested method to do this?
->Directly update from NWBC
->Download Rule-set and upload from SPRO

Hello Sabitha,
This is because you haven't created the connectors in DEV. do you have that connectors in SM59?? I recoomend to create the connectors and associate the to the logical system just to keep all the systems with the same info. you can create the connectors but it's not neccesary to fill all the data in SM59. Just create the connector with the name would be fine.
If i modify the ruleset based on the connector group in development and transport the ruleset would all the physical systems still be listed in the drop down in Quality and Prod
Yes, this will be deleted only if you transport the logical system configuration from DEV and it's not related to SoD rules transport.

No. if you are working with the logical system and you haven't uploaded rules to the physical ones it has no effect.
From your comment I understand that it does not matter about the physical systems as rule generation would take care of generating/linking the ruleset based on the systems assigned to the Connector Group/Logical Systems- If this is the case I am wondering why in development system even after the generation of rule-sets the physical systems are not available
This is because you haven't created the connector or you haven't linked the connectors to te connector groups or you haven't enabled the connectors for the auth scenario.
When generating rules the system generates the rules for the necessary logical systems. since you have none in DEV it wont generate rules for your scenario. So in the escenario you are describing in DEV with logical connectors but no physical ones you shouldn't be able to execute a risk analysis there.

It is not possible to programmatically send out updates to the default ruleset (i.e. via transports or STMS).
This is because rule uploads only overwrite and not append. As every company should have made changes to their ruleset, SAP cannot send out rule updates as this would overwrite the customization done by each company
Since the SAP acquisition of Virsa, there have been seven updates to the supplied ruleset which are described in detail in SAP notes below.

Need information on the new RAR Rule Architect/Rule Set functions

Does anyone have any information on the new 5.3 functions listed under Rule Architect/Rule Sets, specifically the Compare function?
My 5.3 Config manual mentions this area but doesn't describe anything about it. I have a request from our user group and need to determine if this can fit that request.
What they are looking for is an easy way to compare our RAR Rule Set with the latest SAP version (Q2 2010 is the most recent I believe). Just from the screen shots, it looks like we could maybe use the Rule Sets functions for that. Load the new SAP one into RAR as a separate ruleset and then run this Compare function. However I haven't been able to find any documentation on this function, so I don't know if it really does what we are looking for.

the error 'NullPointerException ' is very common error in GRC.
kindly search, you will find lots of threads and notes on thi.
check you permission TXT file. It contain null value some where.
especially check SD01 & SD02 tcodes.
Also open permission file in word and check all TAB's and ENTER's in technical view.

hi activated a std cube and i see few update rules for the cube which r not active n once i try to activate it gives me error mssgs sayonf the source system is filled from the communication structure.
and all the key figures r red n gray.
can someone tell me the steps to create and activate update rules i did check the sap documention but it wasnt clear enough for me need help

You need to make sure all the structures from transfer rules to datatarget is selected while you install the business content.

Or direct SQL access to SAP MDM tables is not possible. Only through MDM Syndicator can we export data.

All the tables you create in Repository comes under A2i_CM_Tables in Database named as your repository name. So the tables names are fields of table A2i_CM_Tables. Now i tried it but cant make it.
Now, I dont think its possible to extract all fields in tables and there values using select query. May be pure sql guy can do that or not.
But there is no relation of data extraction and syndicator. Data is viewed in Data Manager. and you can also store data in a file from DM also.
