Updating single editions

I have been developing digital publishing documents for the ipad content viewer.  Currently when i make a chnge in Indesign and update my folio  it will update when i open adobe content  on my iPad.  My question is once i make a single edition and Apple approves for store will I be able to update the edition or is it final?

Hi Zach,
The content is final. This is covered by the DPS Single Edition License. After approval from apple, you are not allowed to change the content anymore.
With kind regards,

I need to update a single edition app. Do I need to recreate mobileprovision files?

You need to rebuild your app again in DPS App Builder, create new version on iTunes Connect and then submit new version of app to iTunes Connect.

  • Updating Single Edition

6 months ago we developed a relatively simple iPad app for a fashion brand, used on iPads throughout the country in their stores. As it is a fashion brand, the content changes seasonally. It was created via InDesign and the Digital Publishing Suite and we require a way to update the app and push the update to the iPads with last seasons content.
The app was developed as a "single edition" and as a result we're aware there's a requirement with an update to the app to purchase another single edition and so on. Accepting this, is it possible to update the existing app as a new version, with an "update available" in the app store on the iPad and replace the old with the new?
And would there need to be new certificates/provision files for the updated version?
    Thanks for any help.

Indeed. The first year of CC is only $360 vs the cost of one single edition app. Details on plans here: http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud.html
You can test drive it for a month.

  • Updating Single Edition Apps

    Dear members,
I've got one question referring the Adobe DPS SE and updating a published app.
In the FAQs I came across with the following statement:
I have Single Edition. Can I update the content in my app?
Yes, you can update the content in your app after it has been submitted and approved by Apple. If you are a Creative Cloud member, you can update the app for as long as you have an active membership. If you purchased a Single Edition serial number for US$395, you have one year to update the content, after which your Single Edition license will expire and you will no longer be able to rebuild your Single Edition application
Is it correct that a developer who purchased the SE licence won't be able to update a published app after one year? Is there a possibility to update the app by purchasing a new licence then?
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Best regards

Yes,you would need to purhcase another Single edition License and you would recive a new Serial key using which you can build and update to the app and submit it to Apple.

  • Updating Single Edition app after May 1

I have an existing Single Edition app in the app store that is in use by thousands of students across the country. I know that Adobe is dropping support for Single Edition Apps. If I recreate my app using a different publishing platform (Twixl, mag+, etc) will I be able to update my existing app or will I have to submit it as a new one?
If I can’t update the existing app with a new publishing platform, existing users will be forced to purchase the new same app again.

Thank you Bob for all your help in the forum over two years while I completed my app. So sad it had to end like this. Hopefully the governor will call before May 1 and give a stay of execution and save me and a bunch of us. Have a great day, -Dan

  • Can't update Single Edition DPS app

    Hi,
I have created an app following this process:
Created inDesign file. Added folio overlays.
Added open document as Article in new Folio.
From folio builder panel, clicked on Create App which then opened the DPS App Builder.
Created the App in the DPS App Builder.
Activated the app with a Single Use License.
Now I need to update the app. I don't have the option to update the folio in the DPS App Builder. So I found this http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ppcompdoc/Step_by_step_guide_to_dps_se.pdf which says that I can create a new app and delete the other one, but:
I can't delete the active app
I can't activate a new app because the license is in use
How can I update the app using the Single Use License that we purchased?
    Thanks
    Rafael

You can use the serial number only once. If you need to update your app, contact Adobe technical support and ask them to reset the serial number.
By the way, if you have a subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud, you can use that account ID to update or build an unlimited number of single edition apps for the iPad. A Creative Cloud license is easier to use, more versatile, and more cost effective than purchasing a single license.

  • Updating single Edition created more than 1 year ago.

I need to upgrade some Magazine for iOS7 and at the step of "Creating App" in the DPS App Builder the error message is:  The licence for this copy of DPS Single Edition is expired. To create the App, buy a new licence Single Edition and create a new app.
But I have Creative Cloud now, so I don'k need to buy nothing more....somebody has idea to avoid this problem?
Which steps I have to perform to upgrade the old version of this App?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
I apologize for my bad english.
    Best regards,
    Michela

Thanks to both Bob, I'm signing into the Folio Builder panel with the right account, of course, I have only one ;-)
Now I try to create a new app from the Folio Builder Panel.....I'll tell you if il works.
    Thanks for your reply.

  • Update an Single edition app with different (pro) account

    Hello,
I have question regarding updating SE apps.
    1. From what I understand you can still create single edition apps for ipads after May 1st with a pro account, correct?
    2. If I create an app now, with my CC account, can I later, after May 1st, create a professional account under a different name (company name, not mine) and update my old app? (assuming that my apple account and certificates stays the same)
    Thank you
    Alex

    1. Yes.
    2. Yes.

  • How to alert Folio updated with Single Edition

    Hy everybody.
No Push Notification exist in Single Edition process.
So, if I modified one page (for example) in a Folio already published in App Store, I have to uploaded a new .zip of my App to Apple.
How the customers which had already charged the App on their iPad can be alerted about this upgrade ?

When you upload your updated application to Apple and it is approved your readers will see a notice in iTunes that your app updated. They'll have to go and download it.

  • Updating an existing DPS app via single edition

Okay, so I already have an app live on the app store which I published a few months ago using the DPS Single Edition platform.
I would now like to update/upgrade this app on the apple store with a new folio.
Just recently, I upgraded to a new iMac and made sure to copy all material on my hard drive which included all the certificates, so that I can use them again for an update.
I found a great tutorial Digital Publishing Suite Help | Publishing folios to the Distribution Service to update my app but have come across an issue.
The problem I am facing now is that when I log on to the DPS App Builder platform and try and edit the current app I get this error message....
If you can't see the error message clearly it says....
    Missing folio
The folio included in this application is missing. The app was
initially created on another computer machine, the folio file has been
moved or the App Builder application storage was deleted
I don't understand what this actually means as I have copied all files from my old computer with reference to the first app on to my new one......
Can someone help me out here please. How do I fix this problem?
    Thanks
    Myles

    Thanks for your reply Neil.
Okay, so I created a new app via the DPS App Builder, filled in all the app details plus the mobile provision files.
Inserted the dev p12 certificate plus passwords and tested the app on my iPad with great success.
The problem I am having now is downloading the distribution app.
When I click Distribution App in the Downloads column of my new app, select my p12 distribution certificate and proceed to enter the password, a red square is seen around the Distribution P12 Certificate box.
I have used the same certificates as last time as instructed.
Do you think there may be a problem with the fact that there are now 2 apps in the DPS App Builder using the same P12 Certificate even though I will be replacing the old one in iTunes when I get there?
Any help would be much appreciate.
    Thanks
    Myles

  • Update on Single Edition.

To update an app after it has been published to the App Store on a Single Edition, I have to purchase another license, correct?

    1. All our interactivity works in Single Edition. If you are a Creative Cloud customer you can build as many updates of the application as you want as long as you remain a CC customer.
    2. There is no "SDK". You can customize limited aspects of the app (primarily the icons and splash screen), as well as whatever interactivity you build into your content.
    3. You can develop your content in InDesign on Windows, but to build the final application and submit it to Apple you must be on a Mac.

  • Updating your Single Edition App

I need to update my single edition folio. It was my understanding when I built it, that I would be able to submit an update later on in the year. However, I'm told now that I need to convert it over to a multi-edition folio. I can do that, however I'm worried about losing my current subscribers.
Has anyone found a way around this?
    Thanks!

You wouldn't lose your current subscribers when you update from a single-folio app to a multi-folio app as long as you use the same mobileprovision files when re-building the app and submit it as an update in iTunes Connect. You cannot send push notifications for single-folio apps. However, your users will be notified in App Store that a new version of the app is available.
Uploading as a multi-folio app requires a Professional or Enterprise DPS account. If you discontinue your DPS subscription, your users will no longer be able to download content in your app.

  • I have Single Edition. Can I update the content in my viewer?

According to the FAQ -- "No. Once you publish content to the App Store with Single Edition, updates are not available to that content."
But, within the forums people claim that you can fix typos etc. in a published Single Edition. Can someone clear this up? Would I be able to make text changes to a published Single Edition?

What I've seen Adobe say on here in the past is that when an update the app changes the intent of the content, it is not acceptable.  However, making grammatical or typographical corrections seem to fall within a category of accepted use.
Updating your Single Issue app to include a Spring catalog instead of the outdated Winter catalog, however, would not qualify as accepted use.
Probably want to speak directly to your reseller or Adobe about the specifics though.

  • Updating serial number single edition app?

    Hello,
SO I designed an app for a client. They wanted to use single edition. I built the app out and put in the serial number from adobe. After building out the app and testing it we realized we needed to make some changes. SO the changes have been made. Everything is finalized and approved. I went to rebuild the app. I can't, it needs an updated serial number. Ok, not a problem...I asked this question on this forum earlier and was told to contact tech support and they would handle this.  They haven't helped at all. They said that the single edition doesn't support updating an app. They said that we need to use the professional edition. Look, I understand why they don't let people constantly update the single edition app. But we haven't even published this app to the Apple store yet. We built a test app and upon realizing we needed to fix a few things, want to just simply update it so we can actually publish it. Everybody we talked to today has nothing to offer in terms of help.
We called the sales phone number. They have no idea what is going on. They don't even know the cost of the professional Edition. We ask them for a page where we can look at pricing. Oh guess what, that page doesn't exist yet. I guess they haven't gotten around to having a page where people can compare pricing options.
The client is getting frustrated and so am I. Can anyone help me contact someone who knows what they are talking about as far as reissuing a serial number for a product that hasn't even been used to publish an app in the app store yet?
And yes, I know that the CC subscribtion makes more sense. I didnt make that call. The client did. He made it based on the non-help of the sales team at Adobe when he decided to make this app. Just looking for a little help from anybody so we can wrap this project up.
I have already suggested the next time that he join the CC. That doesnt help us right now.
    Thanks.

Hi 5rockets I've PM you with more details

  • Single Edition and update

How many update i can upload with single edition?

One limitation not mentioned here, however, is that the serial number associated with a Single Edition license expires after a year. The license only allows you to build (and update) your application for a one-year period. After a year, you need to either subscribe to Creative Cloud (which will entitle you to build an unlimited number of Single Edition applications as you're a subscriber) or purchase a new serial number through the Adobe Store. Hint: The cost of a Single Edition serial number is $395 whereas the cost of a subscription to Creative Cloud is $49.99/month (with a 40% discount if you're upgrading from Creative Suite).
