Updating songs dont go in artists folders?

can someone tell me why songs i downloaded from itunes did not get filed in the artists folders. i can only get them from the genres folder. everything in the get info screen seem to be correct. thanks

Found out that in order for songs to be filed with artists, you must put album info on the songs you import if you have more than than one. Better off doing this at time of import than going back and changing song by song. So far so good with my new 30g 5G except for figuring out some of the quirks. One last thing, it seems to take longer for itunes to reconize my ipod when I connect it. What is a normal time for Windows XP. Thanks

  • Some songs dont appear in artist

hey well i havent had any real troubles with my ipod until now. all thats happening is, i synch my ipod with itunes and it says all my songs are downloaded.. and then when i turn my ipod on, it doesnt show many of the songs in the artists, but shows them when i click ALL at the top.. or just SONGS. does anyone know what might be happening? its weird cause its like itunes is selecting which songs to put in artists or not...

You should check that the songs have album name info in their ID tags.
See: Some songs don't show under artist on my iPod.
Once you add a second album name for that artist even for a single song, ALL the rest of the songs should now show up under that artist, even those without album names.

  • I updated song titles in itunes but the changes dont show up on my ipod

I updated song titles in itunes but the changes dont show up on my ipod. It still shows the old song titles. Help!!

Did you try unsyncing the songs and then resyncing them?

  • Songs dont appear under the artist name on the ipod....

When i put a song on itunes, it appears under the artist and the song name but when i look for it on my iPod under the artist name, it doesnt show up. Where is the song?

I went to that link but it doesnt seem to help. In itunes I have made sure that the song title, album and artist name are already in there with the correct spelling etc. In itunes all the info is there. When I look for the artist in my ipod it doesn't show up. I can find the album and the individual songs but the artist is not there.
Also...Songs in my itunes have all been organized and did the "get info" thing but some of the same artist appear several times on my ipod. I made sure everything is spelled correctly and the same for the same artist name, I have done resets and restore on the ipod, I deleted all the music out of itunes and then reinstalled it but I am still having the problem with certain artists...not all of them just randomly some. And it is continuing to happen with some new mp3s I am adding. What is going on with that???
Any help would be greatly appreciated...I have only had my ipod 3 weeks!!! If there is something wrong with it I want to return it and get a new one or is it user error?
Thanks to anyone that can help.

  • Problem When Updating Songs

Ok, i dont know how to explain this, but i'll try as best as i can. In my itunes library i have like artists that i have albums for, and also individual songs. But when i update my ipod, and browse through artists only the songs from the album come up. To find the others, i have to scroll through all the songs on my album to find it. Anybody know why they wont show up in the 'Artists' Section. I tried explaining this as best as i can. Hopefully somebody can help me

  • Remote App won't list songs when sorted by artist

I'm using the Remote App to control my iTunes running on my PC with Windows XP, it mostly runs fantastic and I love it!  One small and annoying problem though, when I search my library by artist and select an artist, it won't list any songs.  I am also using the remote app on my iPhone for the same iTunes library and have no problems at all!  I thought it may have been an issue with my ID3 tags, however seeing as it is working with my iPhone I'm not sure what the issue could be?????  I love the Remote App and it has made my home audio system fantastic, if only I could sort this small issue!  Any ideas???? Thanks.

There are usually two things that contribute to songs not appearing under Artist on the iPod, both due to information either in or missing from the Get Info>Info tab against the song in iTunes. 1) the song is marked as part of a compilation or 2) the song has no album name associated with it.
if the tracks are ticked in the Get Info>Info tab as part of a compilation, they will not appear under Artist on the iPod. Highlight a song in iTunes that you know is not appearing correctly on your iPod. Right click on it and choose Get Info and click the Info tab (alternatively choose Get Info from the File menu), if "Part of a Compilation" is marked untick it and afterwards update your iPod, you should find it now appears as normal. If you are using iTunes 8 and view the multiple items info box the compilations setting is in the "Options" tab. Setting "Compilations" on your iPod main menu prevents you getting lots of single artist entries when you load an album by various artists.
Also if the tracks are missing an Album name in the Info tab, this information needs to be filled in. The no album one is a bit quirky as the songs will appear under certain circumstances (for instance I read somewhere that if you have at least two tracks with different album names the rest will appear), however the simplest remedy is just add None or Miscellaneous to all the blanks in place of a title. Alright, so my ipod touch stopped working, but I can still connect it to itunes, but my friend gave me his old nano. I was wondering how I could get my more updated songs from my ipod touch onto th nano. My laptop crashed whitch had all my new music, and im afraid if I sync my Ipod touch to the desktop with all my old songs, ill lose all my newer ones which I dont want to happen because I want them on my nano. Im sorry for the confusing topic im just so lost.

All you have to do is connect your new iPod to the computer that has the library for your old iPod.
When iTunes comes up, click on your new iPod under Devices.
At the top of the Summary Page click Music.
    Click Synch Music.
Do the same thing for Photos, Apps, Movies and so on...
    Now just synch the iPod.

  • Songs not listed by artist

    Hi
I have synced my entire music collection, most of which consists of mp3s ripped from my CD library, onto my 2 week old ipod 30gb with video. I noticed a few days ago that some of the songs from one album weren't listed under the 'by artist' section. It now seems that there are a fair number of songs that are also missing from under their respective artist on the ipod.
The strange part of it is that I know the songs are on the ipod — I can get them to play by making a playlist in itunes and transferring that over. The ipod also reads the correct artist and title tags for the song once it's in the playlist.
I'd much appreciate it if anyone can help me get the songs to appear under the artist list as this is my prefered way of finding my songs.
    Thanks
    Greg

Compilations are stored in a separate folder in iTunes so the songs don't appear inside the normal Artist>Album folder which may be why this happens.
Also if tracks are missing an Album name in the Info tab, this information needs to be filled in, in the absence of one you can just add None or Miscellaneous. See this link for more detail: I don't see some of my songs when browsing by artist on my iPod

  • How can i bulk rename music files in reverse order from artist - song name to songname - artist

I wonder if we haven't misunderstood what you were asking for. Could it be that you have not a huge file, but just a huge list of names in many small files. If that's the case, you should rather use the following script instead of the previous one.
Since this script does not rename the files, make a backup of your files before running it.
set theFolder to choose folder -- the folder containing your text files
    tell application "Finder"
set theNames to name of files of theFolder whose name extension is "txt"
    end tell
    set theTextFiles to {}
set theFolderPath to POSIX path of theFolder
    repeat with thisName in theNames
copy theFolderPath & thisName to the end of theTextFiles
    end repeat
    repeat with thisFile in theTextFiles
set F1 to open for access thisFile
        set theText to read F1
        close access F1
set theParagraphs to paragraphs of theText
set bigList to (a reference to theParagraphs)
        set theNewParagraphs to {}
set bigNewList to (a reference to theNewParagraphs)
        repeat with X in bigList
            set P to offset of " - " in X
            if P = 0 then
                set Y to X
            else
                set Y to text (P + 3) through -1 of X & " - " & text 1 through (P - 1) of X
            end if
copy Y & return to the end of bigNewList
        end repeat
set theNewText to text 1 through -2 of (bigNewList as text)
set F2 to open for access thisFile with write permission
        set eof F2 to 0
        write theNewText to F2
        close access F2
    end repeat
display dialog "Done!" buttons {"OK"} default button 1 with icon 1

  • All songs not showing under artists name - even though spelling is the same

I have 8 songs by a particular artist. Only one shows under "artist". I have checked 5 times - spelling-everything is the same for the artist. All of the songs can be found under "songs". I have checked spellings over & over. What could be my problem?

  • When I import a CD album that includes songs with co-artists, the album is saved once with all of the songs with the main artist only, and then one album for each song with a different co-artist.  How can I avoid that or fix that result after the fact.

When I import a CD ablum that includes songs with co-artists, the album is saved once under the album name with all the songs from the main artist; then each song with a different co-artist is saved separately under the album title with just that song.  Who do I prevent that or fix it after the fact, i.e., copy the single songs to the main album?

  • ITunes 7.1 on Windows XPSP2 - windows "artist" folders

Since installing 7.1 it seems to create 'artist' folders in the iTunes music folder based on 'album artist', not 'artist' - I have mainly classical music and always set the 'artist' tag to the composer and the 'album artist' to the performers because I want to see my music (and windows folders) grouped by composer.
Anyone know how I can get it to create windows folders by 'artist', the way it did at 7.0?

From f00fighter in another forum (worked for me - and I don't "use" Bonjour either, but its there):
Looks like this issue is due to an incompatibility between Bonjour for Windows and iTunes 7.1.0.59 for Windows (thanks toonz!)
To workaround the issue you can stop the Bonjour Service by going to Start \ Control Panel \ Administrative Tools \ Services, then highlight the Bonjour Service and stop it. You might also want to set the Startup status of the Bonjour Service to Manual (or Disabled) to prevent the service from starting automatically the next time you restart you PC.
Note - this is only a temporary fix, and turns off the Bonjour service...so don't do this if you have other applications that rely on the Bonjour Service. A fix from Apple is needed to truly "fix" this issue.
