Updating T-Mobile Blackberry 8900 to local iWirless Carrier

I'm working with a blackberry 8900 and the GPS does not work. I was told to update my operating software. I purchased this phone from a costumer of T-Mobile as an unlocked 8900 to work on all carriers. My network provider is iWireless (a relatively local network) when I called them to ask if I should use their 8900 OS update that looks like it is for the iWireless phone or if I should use T-Mobile update they said I should contact the manufacture.
So my question is can I use the OS update package from iWireless without locking or messing up my phone? Or do I need to find a T-Mobile update?
Also when I perform the update will this lock the phone back with a T-Mobile sim card, or will the phone remain unlocked for all carriers?
Thank you for your help,
Ben Roti
(Sorry the previous link I posted was broken)

Select the 8900 From the list.

I would look to T-Mobile as the delivery of the SMS is likely to rest with them.
As far as the Blackberry is concerned it will be just another SMS

  • Can i manage multiple e-mails on my blackberry 8900?

i'm not sure if this is possible, but i have a t-mobile blackberry 8900. i was wondering if it is possible to manage multiple (2 different) gmail accounts, and a yahoo account on it? i know you can have the e-mails forwarded to your phone, but you cannot reply to them when you have them forwarded to you. so if it is possible, how exactly do you do it? please help.

    Hello,
Typically yes, you can have multiple accounts...but your carrier controls that as part of whatever service plan you have purchased from them. Nevertheless, see this:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/blackberry101/setup.jsp#tab_tab_email
Conduct that once for each email account you wish to add.

  • Blackberry 8900 company logo change

I just got an unlocked t-mobile blackberry 8900. I have AT&T and i was wondering if anyone knew how i can put the AT&T logo on the startup screen and down load the AT&T apps to the phone?

    HI,
There are two locations where we have logo.gif
    1. In web/b2b/ Webcontent/b2b/mimes/images/logo.gif
    2. In  tc/appbase/mimes/images/logo.gif
Try replacing the gif file in both the locations.
If this also does not work, upload your logo with a different name in tha above 2 places and change the path in all
    the stylesheets.
    #header-appl .header-logo
After doing this clear the cache and check the shop.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards
    Antony

  • Help Blackberry 8900 issues

Hi i have a Blackberry 8900 from Orange in the UK.
The device is running version 5 software. The phone is constantly crashing blank white screen when i am browsing the net or even sometimes when i try to make a call. Other times it just crashes for no reason and i have to pull the battery to restart it. Sometimes on restart the blank white screen is still there and have to reset phone again by pulling the battery. I have been onto Orange for the past 2 weeks now and they have sent me 4 different phones, yes 4 different phones and also a new sim card the other day but every phone i have recived is doing the exact same thing. I am also having problems making phone calls from device. When the handsets do let me make a call i get lots of crackling and intereference. Orange cannot send me a different model of phone as it is a business phone paid for by my work.
I also tried reloading the software on 1 device they sent but i had no luck doing it and kept getting JVM error as i was reloading the software.
I am at my witts end now can anyone help??

    Ok.
I'll post something you might try for the Media Card below.
Meanwhile, you should consider upgrading the OS on the device to latest official release of the operating system for the 8900.... 5.0.0.822
Device operating system releases are "released" by specific carriers once they have certified and trained their support techs, but still, you are able to load to any carrier's same model by following the instructions below.
See the link below, for the download and simple installation instructions.
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=06997F04A7DB92466A2BAA6EBC8B872D
Do a backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > Backup. Close Desktop Manager upon completion.
    1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
    2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
    3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.
Read this on how fix the Media Card (courtesy of John Clark, another expert here in the Forum):
    1. Removed the Media Card from the device and put in a card reader. This makes the rest of the process much quicker. However, you can do it with the card in the device.
    2. Copy the entire contents of the card to your PC.
    3. Put the card back in the device and go to Options >Media Card >Menu key >Format Card. This will wipe the card and reformat it. (if using a card reader remove the card and put it back in the reader.)
    4. Now copy back JUST the media to the device. Do NOT copy back any "BBthumbs.dat" files or any system files. I went through the entire folder and deleted every .dat file before copying the contents of the music folder and pictures folders back to the device. The device will recreate these files. Also, I didn't copy the actual "music" folder but rather just copied the contents and pasted in the card's \Blackberry\music folder. Do this for each folder.
    5. When finished put the card back in the device and try the Media App again. It should scan for music. If you have lots of music it can take 5-10 minutes. During scanning you can open the Music app and you should be able to see the songs moving around in the list as the device scans
If after transferring all your files back you still get a stuck scanning bar or device reboots then you have a conflicting file on the card. I've seen video files do this but it could be a music file too or (less likely) a picture file. Remove all the files you transferred and see if the reboots stop. Then add back each folder one at a time to see if you can narrow down to the folder that's causing it. Once you find the folder then you can narrow down to a particular file.

  • Wireless Sync keeps being disabled when connecting Blackberry 8900 to DM 6.0.1

Our MD has a Blackberry 8900 on Vodafone (UK), which is exhibiting very odd behaviour when he connects it via USB to Desktop Manager 6.0.1 on Windows 7 64-bit.
Despite enabling Wireless Calendar Sync on the device (and indeed it working), the moment it is connected to DM it shows as disabled and when disconnecting the device it is now disabled on the debice too.  In additoin, he then can't accept meeting requests on the BB until a hard (battery removed) reboot.
    I've already tried the following:
    - wiping the handheld and re-running Enterprise Activiation.
    - complete uninstall of the desktop software and associated registry entries and files (as per RIM KB)
It also worth nothing that we use a Hosted Exchange / BES proivder (Cobweb), but they say they have not experienced this issue before and that we are trying to sync against an Exchange 2007 mailbox calendar accessed via Outlook 2003.
Any ideas or thoughts most welcome as I've hit the proverbial brick wall.  Thanks,
    -David

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
We have received word that if you are
experiencing this issue that you need to contact your carrier for formal
support and escalation to RIM. I suggest you be gentle yet firm with
them...sometimes, the front line support at carriers doesn't always
understand how the process works. If they tell you that you need to
contact RIM, tell them that's exactly what you are doing...and it is
their (your carrier) responsibility to escalate your case into RIM.
    Good luck!

  • Unable to update device software from 4.6 to 5.0 (No updates available) (BB Curve 8900)

    Hello guys.
I've been trying for the past few days to update my BB Curve 8900's Device Software but whenever I click update, it always says "There are no BlackBerry Device Software updates available."
    Please help.
    Thank you!

    Hey TheLittleBee,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
BlackBerry Handheld software availability is determined by your network service provider.  If your network service provider does not have OS 5 availabile then there will be no updates.

  • Unlocked T-Mobile Blackberry 8220 Flip and other Network Providers

    Hello Everyone,
Just bought an unlocked t-mobile blackberry pearl 8220 flip phone and wondering if there will be any issues with my service provider in regards to mms, gprs or BIS? Currently have a sim with mms and gprs access for my Sony Ericsson T306, i know these t-mobile branded phones have imbedded apps for t-mobile like tzones etc and you can't really get gprs access whether provisioning it manually or automatically from service provider. Does anyone had any issues or solutions can help me out.

Probably.  I don't see that you have stated your carrier, so it could vary.
You should be ok, but in most cases, on a BlackBerry, a MMS Transport service book is required for MMS messages to carry the 'data' portion of the MMS message. Realizing that MMS is nothing more than an SMS text message with a file, or data, attached, the carrier pushes a service book to your device which enables the data portion of the SMS.

  • Look for *.wmv software for BlackBerry 8900

I was looking for wmv file able to use on blackberry 8900 because I got from email that have send *.wmv file into media player but it didnt works because this blackberry medai player only accept to  *.3GP file. Do you know what the name of software that can download into blackberry for *.wmv file.

No. Scroll down into the body of the KB...while the 8900 is indeed neglected in the KB heading, it is listed in the body of the KB and with WMV support. Hence, my theory is that the WMV you are receiving is outside of the acceptable parameters for playback on your BB via the native media player. It would need to be transcoded into an acceptable format in order to playback reliably. You can use RIM's desktop software with Media Manager to do that -- other solutions also exist. But, the native file you are receiving appears, from the data you've presented, to be outside of the acceptable range of playback parameters for your BB.

  • Blackberry 8900 enquiry

    Dear Sirs,
On 9/2/2010 I purchased from “GERMANOS” stores (Greece) a Blackberry 8900 device at 390€ in order to use it as a professional tool. For this reason I contracted with cosmote (greek mobile provider) a BIS for an additional monthly payment of 18€.
A few months later the device became unstable and suddenly on 15/8/2010 the QWERTY keyboard didn’t function at all, although the device was working normally. I returned the device to a GERMANOS branch in order to have it repaired and on 6/9/2010 I had a reply from the service department that they were unable to repair it. In view of the above they proposed me to select a different device (not only a BB one) for the same price since the BB 8900 doesn’t exist in the market any more.
Unfortunately, there is no other ΒΒ device in GERMANOS stores for the same price therefore I m obliged either to take a notably  minor BB device (although I have paid for 8900) or even worst an alternative brand or pay extra 130€ for a better BB device (9700).
I consider it unacceptable to be stuck in a similar situation only due a) to the inability of RIM Greece to repair my device and b) to the regimental policy of GERMANOS to provide expensive devices only and to much higher prices, especially when I can purchase a BB 9700 in Greece for 410€ (http://cleverstore.gr/index.php?target=products&product_id=32459 )
My device IMEI is : XXXXXXXXXXXX
    SN: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
    Service No: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
I would appreciate receiving your written response as a matter of urgency since I’m currently paying additional fees under my CosmoteBIS program and I remain without a mobile device for more than 15 days.
EDIT: Personal Information Removed - Information such as IMEI, Serial #s and service numbers are prohibited for security purposes.

    hello paliakos,
Unfortunately, this is a peer-to-peer community forum so your complaint will fall to death ears. This community consists of volunteer users of Blackberry products helping other users with issues. There are no RIM employees on this forum which deal with customer support issues.
As well, RIM warranties are respected via the retailer at which you buy the product. Normally, if your within your manufacturer's warranty, they must normally fix the product or replace it.
If you have extended warranty, it is usually the retailer who offers it and your bound to the terms of the warranty contract of the retailer.
Hopefully, a contributor on the forum who is knowledgable on the Greek retailers might know a bit more than I do. Until then, hang in there.

  • Is their a way to use the T-Mobile Blackberry with the new iMac w/Intel?

    Hello Everyone,
I have the T-Mobile Blackberry and am trying to get it to sync to the new iMac with Intel, 10.4.6 OS. It never shows up on my computer when I plug it in. I have tried it in Bluetooth mode as well as serial and USB and nothing.
I have also downloaded pocketmac. Pocketmac with GoBetween to sync with Entourage and nothing works.
I guess my main questions are, is there something I am missing, a program or feature that needs to be installed to get the T-mobile Blackberry to work? Or, should I switch to the Treo?
Any help would be truly appreciated as I have been working on this for weeks, searching websites, contacting Pocketmac support and absolutely no one has a solution.
    Thanks!
iMac with Intel   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

It all depends upon your Treo. Generally speaking, all Palm devices are supported 'out of the box' but there are difficulties to overcome with early Palm organizers, Handspring devices and serial [not USB] or infrared Palm handelds.
The Treo 600 [USB only] and Treo 650 [Bluetooth or USB] are supported by iSync, and—like all Palm OS 4 or 5 devices—to a much more effective extent by the Missing Sync for Palm OS from Mark/Space. See this link for more information:
    http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_palmos.php
A Treo 700w is a Windows Mobile 5 device, and neither Information Appliance Associates, not Mark/Space, have delivered release packages supporting Windows Mobile 5 smartphones and Pocket PC devices. Mark/Space, however, is shipping an early alpha release of the Missing Sync for Windows Mobile with support for the Treo 700w, but only to registered users of the existing release for earlier devices. More information, generally, about that product is available here:
    http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_windowsmobile.php
And, you can read about the early 2.5a8 [alpha] version here:
    http://www.markspace.com/wm5.html
Incidentally, as a T-Mobile subscriber, you can use virtually any unlocked GSM handheld or smartphone on their network, giving you lots more choices than other wireless subscribers have. You can synchronize a SONY Ericsson P910a [Symbian OS] or similar smartphone with iSync, a Sidekick or Sidekick II [Danger OS] hiptop device using the Missing Sync for hiptop, or the Palm or Windows Mobile handsets they or others offer using iSync or the Missing Sync for Palm OS in the case of the Palm OS units, or the Missing Sync for Windows Mobile or PocketMac in the case of Windows Mobile and Pocket PC devices.
