Updating to Acrobat 11 Standard

I have Acrobat 8.0 Standard; will I be able to update directly to 11.0? Or, will I have to install all of the updates that came between?

You cannot upgrade from Acrobat 8 to Acrobat XI.
The only valid upgrade paths are from 9 or X.

  • Updates for Acrobat Standard 8.0.0 Czech, Polish, Hungarian, Slovak

    Hello,
Has anybody got update files for this version of Acrobat Standard?
Unfortunately multiple languages packs don't work with this installation.
    Thanks,

After several days of digging I've come across a note on some other forum.

  • Error 1304 updating to Acrobat Standard 7.1.0

    Hi All,
I am using Windows Vista 64Bit Ultimate Edition. I have Acrobat 7.0.9 installed.
When I go to install 7.1.0 I get the above error with this additional info:
Error writing to file c:\program files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 7\ActiveX\AcroPDF.dll. Verify that you have access to the directory. Sure enough, I do not have write access to this directory.
I have also ran the update "as Administrator" to no avail.
I have also tried to go into the security tab and add the write access but I get an access denied before I start the update.
    Any ideas?

I have an Adobe standard 8.0 pdf document that I generated from a MS Word document. It moved over OK and all the links were in place. Now into the Adobe PDF I want to add some in-line images. This also works fine. But I have to use the TEXT tool to add lines to drop the text below the inserted image. This works fine. HOWEVER, the links do not move with the text: a text box and an underline - in blue - remains. They are fixed on the page in their earlier position. I can move the text box outline down to its correct spot, by selecting it and using the move hand, BUT the underline [which is the link] does not move and I cannot figure out how to move it. I can delete the entire link but this puts me in a bad situation as I have hundreds of links that I would have to redo [its an interactive book].
    HELP anyone out there.

  • Updating problem of acrobat standard to 8.1.3.

I tried to update my acrobat standard 8 to 8.1.3. The installation progress was stuck. I terminated the installation and tried again. This time, I received a message saying the installation failed.
    What can I do?

Have you installed the previous updates? The updates usually have to be installed in order.

  • How do I install the PDF printer in Acrobat Standard 10.1.12??

Updated to Acrobat Standard 10.1.12 a week ago and noticed that no PDF printer was installed.  How do I install the PDF printer??

    Sara,
Yes I’m running Windows 7 (64-bit).  I went to the web site and followed the Add Printer instructions.  I tried all of the Adobe PDF Converters and I got either one or the other of the two messages in the attached file.  I appreciate your help and hope you’ve got other ideas.  By the way, I’ve already completely un-installed Acrobat Standard X and reinstalled.  No joy.  When I got this PC I had to install this version of Acrobat on the machine and I had no problems like this.  I have also applied several updates to my original version of Acrobat Standard X and I never had this issue.  This issue just came about when I applied the 10.1.12 update.  But the un-install and re-install has not fixed the PDF printer issue.
So, hope you’ve got some other magic.  It does seem like some needed Adobe software is missing or there is something else on my machine that is impacting the proper installation of the Adobe software pieces (or not allowing some pieces to install).
    Thanks for your help,
    Nick

  • Updated from Acrobat 5 to 7, seems to do far less. Need help.

I just "updated" from Acrobat Standard 5 to 7, but I guess I wasted my money. It doesn't seem to do half of what 5 did! Some upgrade!
Ok, now that I've vented, please tell me there's a way to select objects to delete them. I've tried the "Object Data Tool" and the "Select Object Tool," one of which you'd think would do the trick, but no. I tried clicking on the objects, I tried drawing a box around them, it acts as if there's nothing there. It won't select anything.
v7 apparently doesn't allow you to create or edit forms either, which 5 did! How is going backwards an update???

I have Acrobat Standard 7,  not pro. But my v5 was not pro, and it did forms.
It also had no problem working with objects, the way this one seems to.
I've uploaded the file to a place where you can have access to it, it's a publication called the Humor Times:

    Thanks for taking a look.

  • How to Disable Updates in Adobe Acrobat Standard

About 8 months ago we installed about 40+ Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.0 installations throughout our environment.  We then have had the time to create a completely hands free installation .msi that disables the AutoUpdate feature and a configures a few more items.
    My question is:
How can I disable the AutoUpdate feature on Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.0 without having to go into the Edit>Preferences Menu and deselect it?
    Thanks for your time.

    Go here:

The Updater guide has your needed information.
If you get the AIM AIR app, you'll get a database of other configurable preferences.

  • Updates for Acrobat 9 Standard?

I am doing a wipe and reinstall of all my software (just to freshen things up).  I have downloaded Acrobat 9 Standard, but the updates page  http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows only seems to go back to Acrobat 10.  Is there some other page that provides links to product updates for Acrobat 9?  Thanks.

    Hi Ken,
You can download Acrobat 9 updates from any of these links:

  • Acrobat Standard 9.5.3 and 9.5.4 Updates will not Install.

I am unable to install updates to Adobe Acrobat Standard 9. The computer is running Window Vista Ultimate 2007, Service Pack 2 and has a 32-bit Operating System. I receive the following Windows Installer error message when I try to install either update:
"This patch could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package."
What do I need to do to correct the problem?
    Thank you.

Can you do a verbose installation from the command line using the syntax below
    msiexec /p [PATH_TO_MSP\NAME_OF_THE_UPDATE_FILE].msp  /L*v c:\acrobatupdate.log
Then afterward post the log file contents to the forum.

  • How can I update Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Standard

How can I update Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Standard after installing it on Windows 7? Ive tried a few AcrobatUpd8**_all_incr.msp files but I get an error that the program to upgrade may be missing. I cannot afford to upgrade it to X* when this works for what I need it for which is simply to break up multi page documents created by Quickbooks.

Certainly, the printer driver in Acrobat 8.0 cannot install in Windows 7 64 bit - it wasn't written too. Apparently, though, 8.1 is capable of installing the printer driver.
Unfortunately, Adobe have taken down the page with release notes. But you may need to use the *efg* (English, French, German) versions. See http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/update-patch-acrobat-reader-7.html
After 8.1 there is a "universal" (all language) update.

  • Acrobat Standard 9.1.2 update problem?

I'm running Acrobat Standard 9 on Windows Vista Ultimate.
Right after installing the Acrobat 9.1.2 update, but before restarting my system, I tried to open a PDF file, and experienced cascading file openings, where Acrobat seemed to be trying to open every PDF file on my hard drive in a separate window. Each window header contains the statement: "Adobe Acrobat not responding." After shutting down Acrobat through Task Manager, I then restarted my system, thinking that the problem was a failure to complete the update installation, but when I just tried to start Acrobat (without trying to open any file), it automatically began opening multiple PDF files again.
At that point, I ran a restore to a previous Acrobat version, but did not restart my system. After the restore was complete, my desktop displayed two Acrobat startup icons, one for v9.1.2 and one for the previous version. I tried to start Acrobat by clicking the previous verion icon, but had the same problem with automatic multiple file openings. When I checked the software list in Control Panel, I found that it only contained v9.1.2, and not the supposedly restored version. Does anyone know if I had to restart my system to make the restore work?
When it looked like the restore to previous version had not worked, I did an Acrobat program repair through Control Panel, and restarted my system, but when I tried to start Acrobat, the same problem occurred. Every time it occurs, I have to shut down Acrobat through Task Manager.
I never experienced this problem until I installed the 9.1.2 update. Has anyone else experienced problems with this update? Does anyone here know the cause of the automatic multiple file opening problem?

As far as I'm concerned, there is something screwy about this whole release.  I have used Acrobat Standard since v4.0, and was forced to buy v8 or v9 when I upgraded my OS to Vista, so I chose v9.  However, the most important feature to me (besides converting other documents to PDF files), something called FreeText, was replaced by something now called Typewriter.  Unfortunately, where FreeText was intuitive and seamless, I cannot view the result of a Typewriter session in my document, after entering new text and closing the feature.  On top of that, Adobe tech support seems to have gotten less accessible over the years.
This new problem has now rendered my Acrobat program completely unusable, and for some reason, Adobe's Internet support contact form doesn't even interact with my inputs.  This forum has proved useless to me for any problem-solving.  Anybody from Adobe Engineering listening?

  • How do you update an AIP installation of Acrobat Standard 10.1.1 to 10.1.7 without uninstallation?

I am attempting to to update my clients to Acrobat Standard 10.1.7 from 10.1.1.
They were installed via command line during the machine build using an AIP of 10.1.1.
I have created a new AIP for 10.1.7 so future installs will already be at 10.1.7.
I DO NOT have SCCM and can't afford it.
I need to be able to do this via Group policies, or scripting.
The only way I've figured out to accomplish this is to do a full uninstall of the product and reinstall from a batch script.
There has got to be an easier way.
Please let me now if there is any way this can be accomplished without the full uninstall.

    You can't patch 10.1.1 with 10.1.7. See http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/update-patch-acrobat-reader-10.html.
    See also: http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/AdminGuide/aip.html
I think a full uninstall is required.

  • Problem updating from Acrobat X Standard to Pro

I upgraded from the Acrobat Standard X to the Pro, and this is what I did. First I deactivate the Standard and then uninstalled it. Next I installed the Pro, linked the serial numbers as prompted, and then tried to run the program. What I have is the Standard all over again only it says Pro. I have to have the preflight feature in my line of work. On this version, there is no Advance pull down window across the top or a document or forms tab. I am familiar with Pro 9, but X is not at all like the old Pro 9 I have used for years. What went wrong?

Never mind. I found it by hunt and peck. I like Pro 9 better. It was straight forward. This is not.
