Updating to iTunes 10.6.2.35 my Outlook 2007 will not shut down.

Just updated my iTunes to 10.6.2.35 and now my OUTLOOK 2007 will not completely shut down.  Any thoughts?

The idea of a 3rd party unrelated app didn't seem reasonable, but in Windows, I brought up the the Windows Task Manager (similar to MacBook Activity Monitor) and started "ENDING" the tasks that seemed to be unrelated to the system but used for certain applications.
When I stopped a task related to my Linksys Music Bridge (I was using Airlink-101 music bridge tools to access the bridge) this allowed iTunes to start and stop without automatically restarting.
On XP, the task was "CMFLYWAV" not sure why it's called that, but I now use Bluetooth to send audio to my HiFi using a Logitech Speaker Adapter that works great, and doesn't cause problems for iTunes.
There are probably other unessential tasks running on those machine that still have this "won't shut down" problem.
Thanks for the hint, but I was heading down that road as the next step, assuming something else was forcing iTunes to stay active. But I would not have expected it to be a network speaker driver as it was in my case.

  • ITunes 10.x.x.x Windows XP SP Will not shut down

Every time I run itunes 10, in this case 10.6.1.7 but for all iTunes in the past year or more - it will not shut down and stay shut down.
some suggest turning off "default player for audio" -- nice suggestion, but I do that and iTunes messages that I don't have privileges (I'm the administrator).
I turn off Bonjour -- itunes complains, but shuts down only to startup again.
I am NOT sharing music with other computers.
So the cryptic "don't have privileges" -- anyone know what Apple is looking for in this restriction?
Can't uncheck "default music player" -- anyone have a clue as to why not ?
    Thanks for looking.

    try with this one
uninstall all the apple application S/w like Quicktime, Bonjour,
apple Device Support, Apple Auto update, Itunes etc from your pc,
    Reboot it
Now download a fresh itunes from apple and try installing
    Reboot it
If you are having Problem in uninstalling any of the apple application
try 'revo uninstaller' and uninstall all the apple applications

Are you getting an error message when you try to launch iTunes? If so, what does it say? (Precise text, please.)

  • Itunes will not shut down.  it keeps reopening?

its the latest version, windows 7 is up to date. after updating iphone and ipad tp iOS 5 itune keeps opening every 2-3 minutes, it will not stop!  i uninstalled it and reinstalled, still the same.  this is maddening!

    Hi jkherman.
I am having a similar problem.  I shut down iTunes and then shut off my computer (MBP 13", 2.9 GHz i7, OS X 10.9).
When I reboot, iTunes appears to be running, however the window is not visible, but the icon is lit from underneath in my dock and iTunes is running when I check the Activity Monitor.
Also, it will not shut down from the dock icon.  I need to go into Force Quit to shut it down.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Unplug it and let unit go dead. Then hold your Home button down and plug the USB power cord back in. iTunes should see it and then restore.

    HELP

Hi, Tom. I got an email from Mac Fixit, with the suggestions that often the cause of this problem is either permissions or too many systems floating about. The responder told me to go all the way back to the beginning, archive and clean install 10.4., which he says should have been recommended to everyone, and then rebuild to where we are now. I asked about saving preferences, keychains, serial numbers, logins, etc., and he said that would be a problem with at least some software which stores such information in invisible files in obscure parts of the computer. The implication was that if I knew how to nip in and out of terminal, I could retrieve and replace everything I wanted from the Archived Old System. Of course I do not have anything like that expertise; and finding all my email receipts for purchased and installed software is going to be extremely hard. I'm hoping someone else joins this thread who can tell me how to do these things -- assuming this is the only way to fix the situation. Incidentally, how did you zap the PRAM? Thank you. Charles

  • Macbook pro will not shut down if I have opened iTunes 10.4

I have an Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro running Mac OS X Lion.  Unfortunately if I've used iTunes at all my laptop will only shut down if I hold the power button for 10 seconds.  This occurs after every application including iTunes has been shut down.  If I have not opened iTunes during a session then the computers shuts down normally.  Can I do anything about this, is it serious, and has anyone else encountered the same problem?  Thanks for any help givien.

I'm not entirely sure if mine does this after I only run itunes, but after normal use of my browser and email, my coumputer only shuts down if I hold the button.  I'm not quite sure what's going on, but I'll update you if I find a solution.

  • I just updated my iTunes to Version 11.1.2 and it will not open now (On Macbook). What do i do to fix it?

For the longest time I kept declining to update to the newest version of iTunes. However I got an IPhone 5 recently and it couln't connect to my iTunes because it wasn't updated. Long story short I updated my iTunes while my my iphone was connected to my computer (I don't know if that affects anything). After I updated it and restarted my computer i clicked on iTunes and the icon bounced but it did not open. I don't know what to do i have tried to open using safe mode and I also tried to get rid of the plug-ins by puttin them on my desktop but nothing is working.

If it's in recovery mode, the data is already gone. Why did you never back up your important data?

  • My Macbook Will Not Shut Down due to Itunes not closing.

I updated my iphone5 on itunes a couple weeks ago and made some changes in the settings and then I pressed apply and then it started backing up my iphone, after waiting quite sometime I clicked cancel backup. But it did not really cancel because I have had that message for a couple weeks now and I can not even close itunes or shut down my computer because the error message, " iTunes cannot quit because it is updating the software on the iPhone”. Can someone please help me as Itunes running and doing this all the time has been draining my battery and causing it to run slow?
    Thanks

Hold the start button till the Mac does a hard shutdown. ( it may take 15 -30 seconds) Then restart while holding the shift key down to start in safe mode. This can take some time (1 min or so ) so don't let up on the shift key till you see a progress bar at the bottom of the screen. This way the Mac runs some file check routines that may fix your problem

  • My touchsmart 600-1120 will not shut down. Is there a new bios update?

I've worked on several Touchsmart systems - and this is the first time I've had this problem.  About 10 seconds after the system is completly shut down - it starts back up.  I've done all I can think of in the "power options" - and cleared the BIOS.  Nothing seems to help.  Perhaps a short in the switch?  I've noticed that several models of the 600 have a bios update to 5.12  - mine is 5.01.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
