Updating to itunes 11.1.4.62 Install failed on W8.1

Hello,
I tried to update my Itunes to 11.1.4.62 this morning, and it failed.
I followed the instructions and downlaed it from the Apple website and ran it... it failed again.
When I then tried to open Itunes, it failed staying multiple DLLs where missing.
I had to un install every apple program on the Pc and tried the itunes dowanleded install again... it failed.
I got hold of the pervios version, and it installed without a problem. I tiy to run the update again ... it failes.
( it "loads new files", gets to the get of the progress bat, then "rolling back", then the failed message.
iTunes Installer Completed.
The installer encountered error before itTunes could be configured
Error occured during installation. Your system has not be modified
Please run the installer again, or click finish to exit.
Then I open the previous I tunes, I couldnt open it as the iteuns libaray file was created by a newer version of itunes and therefore wil not load.
I renamed the file and tried again, itunes opens, but I cannot add my music or  open the itunes tore, and itunes crashes.
Ive de-authorized the PC, and re-authoried it again, Itunes Crashes

  • Update from itunes 9.1 to 9.2 fail, can't start bonjour service, window 7.

    I am on windows 7
I try to update from itune 9.1 to 9.2 with the update tool.
When the install starts, after few steps, it trys to start the bonjour service and it fails.
How do I solve this problem?

Same problems here. Got an older itunes installed to activate my new iphone 3gs. Activated and updated the iphone's OS. After the update the iphone requires itunes 9.2 however.
Tried installing 9.2. Bonjour service cannot start, install rolls back.
(whenever i refer to bonjour "dying", i mean it cannot be started due to priviledges missing - i'm the admin lol - or service specific error 6 (0x6) in event viewer)
Uninstalled and reinstalled itunes/quicktime/bonjour several times. Got bonjour working again a few times. During 9.2 installation however, it always dies.
Tried the reloading thing (about 20 times), no go.
Tried installing Airport 5.5.1 for windows which supposedly has a better bonjour installation. Seemed to work for bonjour. However, upon installation of itunes 9.2 bonjour still dies and the install rolls back.
Tried registry changes to grant bonjour full permissions.
Tried giving the bonjour service itself administrator rights to see if i could manually start the service, no go (could not log on).
During all this i have also pilfered with windows firewall (setting exceptions or shutting it off completely), windows defender turned off, uninstalled AV and similar completely, used msconfig to make startups without anything but the itunes/quicktime/bonjour specifics, and still no go.
I'm at my wits end and tired of searching for a solution. Heeeelp!

Recently there was a problem with an update of Maps.  Maybe they haven't sorted yet.  It would install and then crash.  I always end up buying an after-market map system that runs on GPS using maps on board the SD card.  Interesting, I'm going to Kazakhstan next month. How's the weather in September?

  • TS3212 Unable to download new update for iTunes on my computer after installing OS6 on iPhone

I have had no problems in the past being able to download updates until now.
I updated my iPhone 3GS to OS6 with no problems and now I cannot get my iTunes on my computer to download a new update from 10.5 to 10.7 and it now rejects my phone when syncing, saying that it needs to have an update to 10.6.3 or higher.  Is there anyway to get the update function back to working on my current iTunes without having to reinstall? If I must reinstall my iTunes, will it still keep all my data from before like an update or do I lose everything and have to start from scratch or will the installer keep the old config that is currently installed?
    Things I have tried:
    Restarting the computer---same results
I opened the software update application inside the software folder--opens the update window but has no updates listed in it...then tried to update again while having it open--still nothing.
Only thing I can think of at this point is to reinstall.
Just hoping for any help in order to avoid having to do this.
(Using Windows7 64-bit on my computer)
Any helpfull answers would be highly appreciated.

I bit the bullet and downloaded a fresh install download from apple.com since the updater would no longer work.
Still a mystery as to why the updater was no longer working.
Kept the original installed iTunes where it was and sent the new install to its same folder location.
First couple of attempts failed to download but I persisted and the third attempt it downloaded.
After the download, I went into the iTunes folder, clicked on the setup icon and the install was made complete.
Fortunately as diesel pointed out, all of my settings and media remained intact.
Thanks to diesel vdub for providing a little assurance, and now all is back to normal and up to date once again.

  • I cannot update my iTunes with"error occurred while installing updates"

Ever since I updated my Windows Vista Laptop to Service Pack 2, iTunes has not been able to update with the a popup with "error occurred while installing updates. If the problems persist choose Tools > Download Only". And i DID have to Reinstall iTunes from scratch, so please help me. I really want to get rid of this problem thats been bothering me for 2 years
    Thanks

I've got it to work. If that's the same error you received, then I have to assume you're using Windows 64-bit (as all the people I found with the same problem do). This was what worked for me, courtesy of Shiggity from sevenforums.com -
Go to "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu", right-click "Programs" and select "Properties".
On the Security Tab, Click "Advanced".
Go to the Owner tab, and Click "Edit".
Change the owner to yourself, Check "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects", and Click OK.
And then re-run the installation. Hope that works!

    Repair your Apple software update.
Go to START > ALL PROGRAMS > Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install
If you don't find ASU, go to Control Panel:

  • Itunes Error 42404- corepf.pkg install fail

The Corepf.pkg in the itunes installer is failing to install, causing me to not be able to authorize my itunes account and preventing me from installing apps on my iphone and playing downloaded music. The pkg gets about 80% of the way through the install process. The error message states "The installer could not install some files in "/." I've tried reinstalling itunes and fixing disk permissions to no avail. Any thoughts?

I have exactly the same problem. I had a support store reinstall all my software after my computer crashed. I now have iTunes 8.2.1 and Quicktime 7.6.2 which as far as I can tell are the most current available. But when I try to play EITHER my own purchased downloaded music OR samples from the store, I get the message "We could not complete your iTunes store request. A required iTunes component is not installed (-42404). There was an error in the iTunes store. Please try again later." I've been trying again later for 2 days but no luck. I repaired all permissions, re-installed Quicktime, and tried every other hint I could find online. Help!

  • Downloaded critical update to correct pc to printer communication. install fails in dot4scrubber.exe

    Hi there jan92859;
    I did not went over your post but I should have acknowledge that I was doing a bit of research;
What Operating System do you have?
Well how long ago was this, you can do a system restore and you should get the update back as you might understand this is a completely different issue as the original issue on the thread but I will do my best to help you never the less.
Go and try the sysyem restore, remember that the file and documents will not be affected.
    Hope this helps!

  • Updating iphone 4s to ios 8, install failed for unkown reasons, trying to restore iphone and asked for password. I enter my itunes password then my iphone lock password and still get error message wrong password. What password do they want?

Trying to update iphone 4s to ios 8. Install failed for "unknown reasons". Trying to restore I phone from I tunes, asked for password to complete restore. I enter ITunes password and then iphone lock password and neither is accepted. What password is required?

I think the password it asked is the one that you used to encrypt iPhone backup.

  • Magic Mouse issues after updating to iTunes 11

    Hi,
Just updated to iTunes 11, and immediately after installing I have been losing Bluetooth connection to my Magic Mouse.  This usually happens when I click on an icon in my dock to launch an App.  Specifically, most often when I am launching iTunes.  I've ruled out a battery issue, as I've replaced them and it doesn't make a difference.  I've even cleared my PRAM at startup (CMD+OPT+P+R at startup), since I saw this suggested for similar Magic Mouse issues not related to iTunes. Resetting the ram made no difference in my case.
I've had the Magic Mouse for 2+ years, and this has never been an issue before.  In fact, I've never had any connection issues with the mouse that weren't related to weak batteries, and everything was working great until I installed iTunes 11.  Just wondering if others have had this issue since upgrading to iTunes 11, and if so, how it was corrected?
    Thanks.

Hi, I've not had this issue, but iTunes 11 does seem to be doing something to my Magic Mouse. For example within iTunes 11 I can no longer swipe forwards and backwards. Not sure if there is some kind of hitch with the new iTunes software and the Magic Mouse firmware?

  • Itunes install fails on windows vista

I had done an update to iTunes some time ago. It failed. I tried all the methods to fix it and in the end removed iTunes, Quicktime, etc. I have removed the programs. deleted the directories and cleaned the registries of the misc entries (using RegCure) rebooting in between each step.
the exact message is "Service 'iPod Service' (iPod Service) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
I only have one user made on the machine - which is of course admin. I have tried changing ownership and permissions on the iPod directory after it is created all to no avail.
Please just don't link the the "remove iTunes from a windows vista machine" thread. I have run the MS cleanup utility also. I have tried all kinds of things people have suggested and so far none have worked. PLEASE help me.

I had used msconfig and aggressively turned off startups and services. I had not done it after a fresh uninstall and cleanup and reboot though. Just the reboot as part of applying the changes made and trying to reinstall iTunes. I had just completed that to no avail.
So what I just tried was as follows:
    1. Uninstalled all Apple software including QuickTime, Bonjour, Software Updater and Mobile Device Support using the Apple guide.
    2. Rebooted.
    3. Ran RegCure to remove misc registry entries no longer associated with iTunes, etc.
    4. Ran MS Installer Cleanup Wizard.
    5. Deleted any remaining Apple directories in c:\Program Files.
    6. Rebooted.
    7. Ran msconfig and aggressively deselected startups and services. Ensured iTunes and iPod where selected. Ensured selective startup was selected.
    8. Rebooted.
    9. Downloaded and reinstalled iTunes.
    10. Received the same failure notices - the failed to start one and if i tried to start the iPod service manually through the service manager, failed to respond in a timely manner message. The events log for the iTunes install error is "A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the iPod Service service to connect." and the event log for the manual start from the service manager attempt is: "The iPod Service service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."
    11. Changed permissions for all entries in the permissions list to full control.
    12. Tried reinstall - failure.
    13. Took ownership of c:\program files\ipod directories and files.
    14. Tried reinstall - failure.
    15. To make sure I tried the install two times - once with my iPod connected and once without.
    16. Wrote this entry in the forums.
Previously I had tried the new admin user you had suggested.

  • Cannot update to iTunes 11.1 !

    Hello all,
I have a problem updating iTunes to the latest version ( 11.1 ). I tried to run the normal update within iTunes which redirected me to the Apple Software Update and  iTunes 11.1 was downloaded but failed to install giving me the error " Errors occurred while installing the updates. If the problem persists, choose Tools > Download Only and try installing manually."
I downloaded the installer from the Apple website http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ , while installing I faced with another error stating
    "Error getting file security:
    C;\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\InternetExplorer\Quick Launch\GetlastError: 87 "
I checked this folder, it's just a bunch of shortcuts...
I'm running on windows Vista 64-bit.
       Any help is highly appreciated!

  • How do I recover files when the install fails due to a damaged HD

While updating to Mavericks for Mountain Lion, the install failed. It stated that the hard drive was damaged. I ran disk utilities and the option to repair is not avalible. Prior to the install there was not a problem. I unfortantly do not have a back up to restore from.  Do any of you fine Apple supporters have any suggestions?

Emergency recovery of your data on your internal drive/SSD.
Can you boot in normal or Safe Boot mode (Boot Command-R)?
If so do so and run a Time Machine backup.
If you can’t run Time Machine, proceed below.
You will need a blank disk or a disk that you are willing to erase (a lose the data on it).
If you do not have one it is time to purchase one larger than your internal drive/SSD.
At this point your goal is to recover as much data as you can onto an external disk.
First, disconnect all unneeded peripheral equipment, including external drives.
(Use an external wired keyboard and mouse if necessary.)
    A)          Try to boot in normal mode (just press the power key).
If that won't work try to boot in Safe Mode.
                        • Press the power button and as you hear the bong, then hold down the Shift key.
If it does not work either way jump to B.
If it booted, from the Finder > Go > Utilities > Disk Utility, jump to C
(formatting the emergency drive) and come back to here.
              Go > Computer.
Double click on the system disk and then on the Users folder.
Drag your named user folder to to the recovery disk.
If that does not work double click on the named user folder
and try dragging each folder individually to the recovery disk.
Repeat for other users if there are any (logging into their accounts or an admin account).
If this works you have recovered your personal data.
    B)          Boot the recovery partition.
              • Press the power button and as you hear the bong, then hold down the Command and R keys.
If that won't work jump to E.
Once booted, click on Disk Utility.
    C)          To format (and erase) the destination recovery disk:
Plug in the drive you are about to erase.
Select the volume that is NOT your system disk.
              Click on Partition.
Pull down under Partition Layout to 1 Partition.
              Click on Options…
              Select GUID Partition Table.
              Name: Emergency Backup
Format: Select Mac OS Extended (journaled)
              Click Apply.
              Click Partition.
    D)          Drag and drop the named system disk to Source:
Drag an drop Emergency Backup to Destination:
              (Do not reverse these.)
Click Restore (the lower Restore button).
    E)          Seek expert help to test/replace the internal disk.
If it is an SSD then trash it.  DiskWarrior recovery from damaged SSDs is futile.
Save the ailing disk.  You might be able to recover data on it
buy placing it in an external enclosure and mounting it from a healthy machine
then using the Finder and/or DiskWarrior.
              http://www.alsoft.com/diskwarrior/
    F) Once your system is healthy again be sure to maintain two reasonably current backups.
