Updating to Lightroom 2

I have Lightroom 1.4 wanting to upgrade to Lightroom 2
Mac computer version 10.5.4. 3 GB ram
what happens to photos and presets from Lightroom 1.4 when upgrading to Lightroom 2
Are there processes I should be aware of when upgrading to safe-guard the pre-sets and photos from Lightroom 1.4?

Some people report that removing 1.4.1 from an XP system resolved performance (i.e. speed) issues with running 2.0 on the same system, but others report that this makes no difference for them.
The whole "speed" issue is really confusing right now. So far, I can't find any pattern to why some people report profound speed problems with 2.0 (especially the brush tool), while others report exceptable performance on average systems.

Hi there
I have version 5.7 and every time I opened it I was told that updates are available and to click on the icon to access these. Instead it just took me to the
adobe page with nowhere visible to update. I then sought to download lightroom cc and this is when I could not access the 'develop' section due to reduced
functionality It was apparent that my photos had been put in cc but no way to access them unless I wanted to subscribe.
I have since remedied the problem as my original lightroom 5.7 icon is still available on the desktop and have gone back to that. I do feel that this is a bit
of a rip off and an unnecessary waste of my time though.

Language change after update to Lightroom 3.2! Help asked!

I use Lightroom from the first version and love to work with it. I always work with the English version of it - for several reasons - even when my Windows XP version is in Dutch.
By upgrading to Lightroom 3.2 I selected the English language. After the update my version of Lightroom 3.2 however was in Dutch. I tried to change that to English following the help file, but that does not work
This unwanted change gives me a lot of trouble now as I normally import my pictures with a filename in the date-number format. But the date format in the Dutch version is day-month-year, as I however want to use - and used for over 50.000 pictures!!! - the year-month-day format. I had no trouble with it in Lightroom 3.0. My trouble began after updating to Lightroom 3.2.
Can anyone help me here, as I cannot import pictures I made in the right format now!!!

ERROR: "key not valid for use in specified state" when updating to Lightroom 5.6 in Win8.1

While doing a routine update from Lightroom 5.5 to v5.6 in Win 8.1, the installation halted at the start of the installation with the vague error message, "key not valid for use in specified state". Although v5.5 was working just fine, the install routine deleted the v5.5 application files. I rolled back to the previous system restore point (set just prior to the install) and recovered the executable files. However, now the 5.5 files won't open the default catalog, none of the backups, or even create a new catalog.
As v5.x was purchased as an update to v4.x, I've tried to reinstall the original Lightroom v4.x app from the factory disk. I get the same error.
Suggestions?

I have a similar problem to Dan. while doing a routine upgrade from Lightroom 5.5 to 5.6 I got the
: "key not valid for use in specified state"
error and now Lightroom has completely disappeared. I've tried to uninstall, but there is nothing to uninstall. Going back to try to install the original 5.4 just results in the same error.
A problem may have been that I closed Lightroom when the upgrade started to download. It then re-opened again when the install was halfway through., I assumed that was an error and closed it. just after that the error first appeared in the installer.
I still had an older version of lightroom 4 installed. I've uninstalled it, and that didn't make any difference.
I've also tried removing anything in the registry left over from the old installs and that didn't help either.
Any suggestions?

Camera raw update to Lightroom 3.6

I need to install version 7.1 of camera raw so I can use lightroon 3.6. How do I do this?

the minimum lightroom version that supports cr 7.1 is 4.1. ie, you cannot update your lightroom 3.6 to a version that supports cr 7.1
you can upgrade your lr 3 to lr 4 and use the cameras supported by cr 7.1: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom/buying-guide-upgrades.html.
or, adobe has enabled you to use cr 7.4 supported cameras by using the dng converter mentioned in my first message. you use the dng converter to convert your raw files to dng format

LR 5.7.1 Starts without Problem.

In updating my Lightroom to 5.7, I get error message. "Error 2721 etc

In trying to update my Lightroom to 5.7 from 5.6, I get the following error message. The installation then ceases and no changes are made.
I have done this now a number of times, have switched my computer off, and have no other processes running.
"Error 2721. Custom action_delete_installcookie_file not found in Binary table stream"
I don't understand this error.
How do I go ahead and install 5.7 please?

Simon which operating system are you using? Have you tried removing the current installation of Photoshop Lightroom 5.6 prior to installing 5.7? The update contains the full installation for Photoshop Lightroom 5.7.

It sounds as if your browser and some of your apps are not color-managed. This is pretty typical. Even IE9 is only partially color-managed.
You can expect color-managed and non-color-managed applications to show you different things with the same images. How different will depend upon how different your monitor color profile is from the image's color profile.
For web publication and most general use, experts usually advise saving images with the sRGB profile. If such images, saved through the Save for Web & Devices function, look different to you than you expect, it may be that your input images have previously been saved in another color space.
You should really try to get your head around color-management by reading more on it. It can seem baffling and it's difficult to understand without some background. A quick web search turns up many overviews. Beware, though, even people writing articles sometimes don't fully understand it.

You can buy an upgrade to 5 for $79 from the Adobe store: Products. You can buy it for a few dollars cheaper (not counting tax and delivery) from Amazon and other places online.
When you install 5 and start it, it will make a copy of your 4 catalog and convert it to version 5 (leaving the 4 catalog untouched): Lightroom catalog FAQ.

I'm not sure why you think Lightroom 3 will support the D610 as it was only announced on October 8, 2013. Support for the D610 was released in the Lightroom 5.3 RC, see Lightroom 5.3 RC now available on Adobe Labs
If you wish to use you D610 files in Lightroom 3.6 you will need to download the Adobe DNG Converter, convert your NEF to DNG and then import into Lightroom 3.6. The DNG Converter can be downloaded from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Windows
Or, better option is to upgrade to the current version of Lightroom

After you signed in try to start Lightroom Again.

I want to update my Lightroom but it doesn't seem to be the way I am used to updating... What is CC and is that what I need to be doing? It only gives me the option to "Install" Lightroom CC. I am working on a macbook pro.

Working on a Win7-Machine. Try to update my Lightroom Version to 5.6 during the installation process comes an error "key not guilty" and the installation failed. It is not an productkey error message!

Vk2mh it sounds like the download was not complete or corrupted. Where are you downloading the update from? Have you tried downloading again?

I have creative cloud photography plan, but cannot update to Lightroom CC

When i opened Lightroom (part of my CC photography plan) it said to update to Lightroom CC by clicking the adobe app manager thing on the upper bar of my computer (Mac) and clicking "install" next to Lightroom CC. however, next to Lightroom CC it says "try". not install.
i have had problems in the past where that adobe manager app would say that i didn't have Lightroom installed and it would have a button saying "install" even though i already had it installed. this may be similar to that problem.
Anyway, how do i make it say install, instead of trying to give me a trial.

i just clicked try to see what it will do. right now its installing, i will let you know what it says in a minute.
thank you for your help. i have had no luck with adobe support. its taken about 1hr to get someone on chat, and when got someone i accidentally went back a webpage and lost it. now i waited another hour and got someone and when i tried to sent the support guy the photo on this post i lost that conversation. so now I'm on my third hour and third try to not lose someone at adobe support. but thanks for helping, please keep in touch.
