Updating to OSX 10.7.3 bricked my iMac.
While working on my iMac tonight it asked to reboot to install the OSX 10.7.3 update. I clicked reboot and after a few minutes it came up with a message that it needed a forced reboot as it was unable to install the update. I forced rebooted it exactly as it told me to do. Holding down the power button til it shut off and then to hit power again to start up the computer.
On reboot it got to the white screen with the gray logo and pinwheel and won't go any further. I left it for 3 hours to see what would happen and nothing changed. So I rebooted to the boot drive and fixed disk permissions and verified disk. It did come up with an error about catalog permissions and so I fixed the disk.
It still is sitting on the boot screen and won't go any further. This issue seems unrelated to some of other issues with the update and the MacBook Pro. I do have a backup from about 2 weeks ago but I had to unplug the external backup drive as it kept on giving me errors an flooding connection to the drive. I don't want to restore from backup if I don't have to.
Does anyone have any idea what I should do next?
I too, am no longer able to boot my MacBook Air after installing 10.7.3 via the Software Update system application.
It did install the update successfully, and prompted for a normal restart. After I restarted, I logged into my encrypted drive user account and then... long nothing. The grey circle spins and spins and eventually the Apple logo becomes a circle with a slash through it.
It appears that my only hope will be to restore from my last Time Machine backup and wait a very long time before trusting another Apple update again.

Ever since I updated to OSX version 10.9 on my iMac, it is disconnecting all of my media hard drives and giving me the message: "Disk Not Ejected Properly." My hard drives are connected to my iMac through a Nitro Professional 8-port Firewire 800 hub/repeater, and a Firewire 800 cable from the Nitro hub connects to the back of my iMac. This configuration has been working fine for over a year. Suddenly, and immediately after performing the update about a week ago, the drives won't stay connected for more than a few seconds before the iMac disconnects from my drives. I've tried restarting and reconnecting many times and the same thing keeps happening.
I have a new MacBook Pro (one month old) that I've been using temporarily to work with my photos and video on these drives as the drives are able to stay connected to this computer—I put a Thunderbolt adapter onto the Firewire 800 cable to connect to it. Luckily I had not yet updated it to the new operating system and I am afraid to do that. I've had the persistent message that Updates are available for my computer on my MacBook but I will not perform any updates for fear that I will lose access to my media drives. I am a professional photographer, so it's pretty disasterous if I can't access my drives. Please advise me what to do to keep my hard discs connected to my iMac and what to do to keep this from happening with my MacBook.

Disk Utilty does not work after update to OSX 10.8.4
I updated to OSX 10.8.4 on my Macbook pro and the update went smoothly.
However when I try to run Disk Utility the utility never starts and the right click menu says it is not responding. I have to force quit.You would need to download and run again the OS X Mountain Lion Update v10.8.4 (Combo).

Firefox 1.5 works fine, Safari does NOT - ever since update to OSX 10.4.11
Had intermittent computer crash with darkened screen and message to restart. So decided to update to OSX 10.4.11 after first repairing permissions, running Cocktail (ver4), and Disk Warrior (from CD). First time with Software update then again with COMBO version.
Mail had been playing up aswell but after deleting plist it began to work again but now Safari 3.04 keeps crashing every time it is opened - around 2 secs then crashes.
Firefox works fine. Any ideas?

Input Managers and other plug-ins from third parties can do as much harm as good. They use a security loophole to reach right into your applications' code and change that code as the application starts up. If you have installed 10.4.11 and Safari is crashing, the very first thing to do is clear out your InputManagers folders (both in your own Library and in the top-level Library), log out and log back in, and try again.
So, disable all third party add-ons before updating Safari, as they may not have been updated yet for the new version. Add them back one by one. If something goes awry, remove it again and check on the software manufacturer's website for news of an update to match your version of Safari. Remember: Tiger up to 10.4.10 used Safari 2.0.4 or, if you downloaded it, Safari 3.0.3 beta. Safari 10.4.11 uses Safari 3.0.4 which is not a beta. If Safari 3.0.4 on 10.4.11 is not the fastest browser you have ever used, then something is wrong!
(Trying to revert to Safari 2 when running 10.4.11 can have repercussions, as Safari 3.0.4 uses a completely different webkit on which other applications like iChat, Mail, Dashboard widgets etc also rely.)
Most errors reported here after an update are due to an unrepaired or undetected inherent fault in the system, and/or a third party ad-on. Add-on that have been frequently mentioned here, among others, for causing such problems are Piclens, Saft, AcidSearch and Pithhelmet. If you have them, trash them and go the developer's sites to see if new versions are available for Safari 3.0.4.
You should also ensure, if you are running Tiger 10.4.11, that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Update 2008-001.
As Leopard also uses Safari 3.0.4, much of the above may well also apply to Leopard, but is not guaranteed. Moreover:
Some users have mentioned that the latest Flash Player (v.9.0.115.0) conflicts with Safari in Leopard, and that they have needed to revert to v. 9.0.47. This can be downloaded from here:

Have you tried going to System Preferences > Spotlight > Privacy and dragging your hard drive into the box then drag it back. That will trigger a re-index.

Some pages don't render properly after Java update for OSX 10.6.8
I can't seem to get T-mobile.com's website pages to render properly anymore. So far, this is the only website I'm having this issue with, though there could be more I'm not aware of.
I go to www.t-mobile.com and this is what I get:
I think I might be missing a plug-in, but not sure; if so, I don't know which one or how to get it.
This only started happening after the latest Java update for OSX 10.6.8, which I installed on Feb. 24, 2013. All of T-mobile's pages look like this, except if I go to www.my.t-mobile.com's home page. Then I get a normal page, but after I log in, I get more wierd rendering issues again. So here's the page that appeared normal today:

I put in the 3 captured screen shots in my original post above. I used Grab to copy the web pages, saved them to my desktop as .tiff files and dropped them in for others to view. This morning, I went to look at my post and instead of seeing the screen shots, I see 3 tiny blue boxes with question marks. When I left click on the boxes, nothing happens. That’s what you should download from the App Store.
If you didn’t use the App Store, but instead used the Apple Downloads site, then you got the update, not the full installer.
The full installer from the App Store will only be 10.10.1. The only version available in the App Store is the latest version.

How do I resume the download?That is a point many users miss...even Apple has limited bandwidth when it comes time to release a major operating system and millions of users want to download at the same time...during the first two weeks one should expect delays and long, long download times.
It is getting to the point that suggesting downloading during "off hours" isn't even good advice...world-wide there is no such thing as an off hours time segment
I have a very fast f9ber optic carrier and download took around thirty minutes...another good reason to tell people to make a copy of the installer before doing the installation so you do not need to download again. -
