Updating TOC erases all document text

Hello all. I am working with a document in cs4 that I placed in from Word. All the heading styles were set in InDesign. There are graphics and text. I inserted a TOC on the first page early on. I then went to Update the TOC, and it asked if I wanted to include overset text. I clicked yes, and then all text in the entire document disappeared and was replaced by a TOC that only listed the very first heading of the document. Any time I try to insert a new TOC or update the TOC, this happens. What might be going wrong? I'm relatively new at making TOC in InDesign/working with large documents, and just completely baffled. Sorry if this is a very simple fix. Thanks.
Edit to add: I have also re-set my preferences and this did not solve the problem.

Your TOC must ALWAYS be a separate story that is not threaded with any other text.

Couple of things to try:
If you can access the account on a computer - make sure that the offending email is no longer there
Then delete the email account on the phone - no email loss is incurred
Then reset the phone - hold down home and sleep buttons together until you see Apple logo and then release and allow normal boot up - no data loss
Then reinstall the email account

Update has erased all my songs! How do I retrieve?

While using iTunes to add songs to my ipod, I was told there was an update ready to install and I chose to update it. I followed the steps which included connecting it to the mains to finish the update. However, afterwards my contents (all music files) were gone. It had said contents would only be erased if you chose restore. I am certain I chose update and therefore according to ipod support, my contents shouldn't have been affected. What has happened and how do I get all my much loved music back? Please help!

Computer did update and erased all information

My HP laptop did an update last night and now it is restored back to factory settings and ALL of my information (documents, music, pictures, etc) are gone. How do I restore it back to it's previous settings?!

If all that happened was an update then you can attempt a system restore. I am not sure if you will get your lost data back but it is worth a try:

This is a somewhat lengthy question, if two people have text msg to one another, is it possible for one party to erase all the texts sent on their end of the conversation from their phone, therefore deleting the conversation on MY phone?

I find myself in the midst of a lengthy divorce and custody battle. Many contentious texts have been sent back and forth between parties, hard copies of those texts were made and submitted to Court. Now I turn on the old- As I had to get a new phone and number- but kept the old phone for evidence- and all my responses are there, but the other parties are mysteriously gone. This has happed to another party involved in this issue as well a third party that receieved texts from said individual.
Is this possible? and if so HOW??? It is the offending parties cell account if that makes a difference. I am glad I made hard copies, but don't know how much it will bring to bear as evidence if the other side of the whole conversation is wiped out?

Firefox updated and erased all of my bookmarks. How do I get them back?

The bookmark menu is the same, but all of them are gone. Firefox created another folder on my desktop, but it's all in code, and I have no clue what is in there or how to get it back on this version.

This is my same identical problem, but the "solution" is WAY to complicated for me to even begin to do it safely without messing things up even more. PLEASE give more info about how to do this!
HELP. All of my bookmarks were deleted. All of my defaults changed. All of my "new tab tiles" were replaced by Mozilla's tiles. This REALLY SUCKS. PLEASE HELP ME GET BACK TO MY OLD NORMAL !
PS: I do have a new file on my desktop labled "Old Firefox Files." There is a folder called bookmarkbackups and in it are 15 blank bookmarks icons (a small fraction of what I used to have). One example of a bookmark is "bookmarks-2015-02-12_394_W+M7xv5egtzLnoMxKYZPLg==.jsonlz4"
I have no clue what to do with this file to get that particular bookmark back, or where to find the rest of them. PLEASE HELP.

Chosen solution
Did you reset Firefox and create a new profile and did Firefox create and "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop with the content of the old profile?
If your bookmarks didn't make it to the new profile then check if there are JSON backups (.json or compressed .jsonlz4 files) in the bookmarkbackups folder.
You may have to delete the places.sqlite file and restore a JSON backup in the Bookmarks Manager (Library).

The question I have is how are using your Apple ID on both of the iPhones. If it is just for purchases, then you can just have that Apple ID for purchases and then have separate accounts for iCloud to sync that data. Check out the article below for more information.

Script to update all TOCs in all open (or book) documents?

Does anyone know of a script that will update all table of contents in all open documents (or even better: all documents in open ID book)?
Any help much appreciated!

FileMaker Pro is just a database and as such is not designed to work well with Automator which relies on knowing exactly what kind of information is being passed to it. Address Book can import "tab-delimited and comma-separated text." The best way would be to export from FileMaker in one of those formats and then import into Address Book. Beyond that it gets much more complicated.

Your headline says iPhone 3GS, but your text says 3G.
iPhone 3G is not compatible with iOS5. 3GS is.

Restoring Iphone 5 erased all my recent texts

After purchasing snow leopard to update my MacBook in order to sync my new Iphone 5 to my computer, it erased all my recent text message till June of last year. Can I recover my recent texts? Need to be able to read some of the recent texts i have sent and can't find them anywher.

If you have a recent backup of your phone, then you can restore to that backup.
If you don't have a recent backup, then there is no way to get those text back.

I had to go through this today (got a new computer recently). I ended up pluggng in my phone to the new computer and then doing a sync and a backup, and Image Capture to get all your pics just in case. Then I did an update check wnen iOS 5 became active and it said that it was going to erase everything and I hit OK. And after that install was complete, I did "restore from backup" which said it would restore everything that was backed up except the new iOS 5 firmware (that stayed put). Just a few tweaks here and there and it all worked for me.

Follow these instructions. When you restore the iPod from backup as the article says your iPod will also be updated.

TS4268 My husband and I use the same apple ID, after the update he started getting all my texts from me to other people and from other people to me. Anyone know how to turn this off?
