We have an extended guide that should help you repair the system of your phone. This instructions are valid for all Android based units and for some legacy Sony Ericsson models(The list of phones that can be used with the application is displayed in Step 9 of the process). please follow the instructions carefully: Turn the phone off and disconnect it from the computer.  1. Visit this link:http://www.sonymobile.com/us/tools/pc-companion/Click on Download PC companion2.Run the software After the installation the first screen will show you the PC Companion Startup Guide which gives you a brief explanation on the main modules of PC companion (Support Zone, Xperia Transfer, Contact setup and Media Go) Keep clicking next.3.Now you will see the screen with the different modules.Select Support Zone> Click Start.  The program will download the module. Then click on start on Phone/Tablet Software update. (Here you can choose to update an accessory, go to step 14 for instructions) Note: At this point if you get an error stating that "unable to install update components" or "server is busy" Please proceed to step 13 . If you not see that error then continue with step 4.
    4. The program will show a window saying "could not find phone/Tablet” Do not Connect phone instead select Repair my phone/tablet. This will bring you to a window with a warning that says "data will be lost" (do you want to continue) Select to continue (Data in the phone will be deleted, only data in the SD card will remain. Make sure you have done all proper backups if possible)6. The program will issue a second warning stating that “data saved in the phone /tablet will be overwritten during the update of your phone”. Click on the checkmark box next to the acceptance text and select Next to continue.7. Next the computer will download the necessary files (Prepare stage, this can take several minutes depending on the speed of your connection) and then its done it will show you a list of recommendations for a successful update operation. When you are done reading this section click on the checkmark box and press Continue8. Next you will get a Battery level warning that states that your phone should have at least 80% battery. (If the issue in the phone does not permit the unit from turning on, then charge it connected to the wall charger for at least 2 hours and then comeback to this step) Then click on the checkmark and select Next9. Choose the Phone from the list then click on "next" then you will see a new section telling you how to connect the phone. (don't connect it yet) Again, at this point the phone must be off and disconnected from the PC. 10.. Connect the cable to the PC not to the phone, then while pressing and holding the indicated button (in the steps on screen an specific button will be shown for you to press on the phone) connect the cable to the phone and keep holding the indicated button until the program says "the update of your phone has started..." (in some cases a message of  "Installing drivers" will appear before the message of "the update of your phone has started..."  is shown.) 11. If you failed to follow the steps correctly the phone will turn on. If this happens disconnect the phone from the cable, turn it off and repeat from step 10). 12. If the phone is connected properly, PC Companion will proceed with the update ( It will tell you to let go of the key) then wait for the update to finish and follow instructions on screen to disconnect the unit.  End of process. ----------------------------------------------------------------------If the software fails to install:13. If "unable to install update components" 1. Close Pc companion 2. Install Java from: http://www.java.com 3. start Pc companion again and try to do the software unlock process once more. 14.Select Accessories software update. Click on start and the computer will download the necessary files (Prepare Stage) it will take several minutes. Then follow the instructions from step 8.  Note: Some computers may block the installation of the update service, if this happens use this:http://www.sonymobile.com/us/tools/update-service/ this is the Standalone update software. (Not globally available)If the Phone is unresponsive (Then do this extra step and when done proceed to redo the repair process:Press and hold the power button and the volume up button at the same time for 10 to 15 seconds. This will reset the unit)Note: This procedure does not work for the Xperia Play R800x (Verizon and other Non SIM card variants of the Xperia play that lack MTP support.  It does work for the R800a At&t's model)Bridge For Mac instructions on my post below. Valid for all Android based units and most java Sony Ericsson units.

I reset my iphone 4s and connected it to itunes to put data on it. The problem is, I can not get past the set up stage. It is asking me to type in my apple ID and i type in all of the correct info but it is saying my ID can not be used to unlock my device.... WHAT THE ****

Where EXACTLY did you get the phone?
That indicates that Find my iPhone was set up on the phone prior to updating it to iOS 7. iOS 7 turns this into activation lock... If you don't know the ID/password that was used, there is no way to bypass it and activate the phone at all.

Are you a developer?  If so, post this question in the developer forum.  If not, why are you using a beta version of ios 7?  You need to restore your device as NEW in itunes and update the current software version.

  • Hii all, I just bought an used iphone 5c from an user and only after a few weeks realised that it got activation locked. He might be unaware of that. Is it possible to get back to him and unlock the device for me as i have not contacts with him presently.

Well first you need to sync your iPhone 4 with your Mac/PC so that it will transfer all your music, apps, podcasts, etc. Then sync your iPod Touch and the media you selected during the sync should be there on your iPhone. If you have difficulty in transferring media from iPhone to your computer, try softwares like TransCopy. They will help in transferring data from your iphone to your computer. Dont forget to check that all the transferred data is in the iTunes media folder so that the iTunes can locate the files. Link to Transcopy software :

  • Unlock severals windows phone device using the same live id

my situation is simple: what happens if i have unlocked the maximum number of allowed device and i have to unlock one more device but i don't  have any of the other device to unregister. Can i unregister any of theprevious
devices using other mechanism and what happens with the unsigned apps installed in each of the unregistered device after this process

You can removed unlocked devices on the Windows Phone Dev Center Dashboard under Account / Phones. If you do that the removed phone will relock (I don't know exactlly how long it takes for that to happen). Once the phone has relocked sideloaded Apps will
stop working on that device (and you won't be able to sideload Apps on that device anymore).
I have read several reports that you can get developer support to raise the number of devices a single account can unlock in case you can give a good reason for needing more.

  • Problem updating firmware using PC Companion

I've been notified that my tablet has a new firmware update "17.1.2.A.0.314" which can only be updated via computer.
But whenever I try to update the firmware using pc companion it is like the program freezes on approxemately one 5th of the progress of the innitialization process.
I usually have the same problem when i try to update my Z1 compact via PC Companion which is why i usually update through the ´phone/tablet it self, but that is hust not possible this time.
I have tryed to look through the forum ang found that the update service was the solution, but this service was shot down the 24th of July. http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/update-service/
Hope that someone knows how to fix this.
    Thank you

  • "Photos in the Camera Roll of "(your) iPhone" cannot be imported because the device is locked with a passcode.  You must unlock the device to import them."  My iPhone 5 running the latest iOS 7.1 and I'm using iPhoto '11 v 9.4.3

"Photos in the Camera Roll of "(your) iPhone" cannot be imported because the device is locked with a passcode.  You must unlock the device to import them."  That's the new error message when I plug in my iPhone 5 running the latest iOS 7.1 into the MacBook Pro running iPhoto '11 v.9.4.3.  My Mac OSX is still 10.8.5.
So, I unlock the iPhone by entering the "passcode" before I plug it into the MBP and still iPhoto does nothing.  At least it doesn't issue the error message above.
I've checked both iPhoto preferences and those for Photos and Camera in the Settings on the iPhone.  There doesn't seem to be anything to change this lack of connectivity.
    What next please?

An hour-long phone discussion with Apple Support yesterday solved this question and sorted a couple of others.
As for this one, do not ignore any messages which pop up when you plug in your iPhone and ask "Trust this computer?".  The correct reply is "Yes", not "Cancel".
OK, you cancelled like I did, thinking "What on earth is this for?".  Mistake.  You can force the issue by having iTunes open when you next plug in your iPhone.  Tell the iPhone that it can trust its old friend, your computer and voila!  Your photos can download into iPhoto again.

  • Linux RedHat 4 update 4: how to unbind  raw devices used by ASM diskgroups?

How to unbind raw devices used by ASM diskgroup?
I created ASM diskgroup using /dev/raw/rawn, after done my testing, I need to toss the raw devices to start a new testing. Here is the procedure:
    1. shutdown MYTEST database
    2. in ASM instance, remove disks from diskgroup 'rawtest'
    3. in ASM instance, "drop diskgroup rawtest including contents"
    4. in OS, issue: "raw /dev/raw/raw1 0 0"
    I got the following error:
    # raw /dev/raw/raw1 0 0
Error setting raw device (Device or resource busy)
But if I shutdown ASM instance, the above commmand will be successful.
My question, how can I unbind raw devices without shutting down ASM instance(could be used by other databases at the same time)?
    Thanks,

I do not have a list of the specific applications, however all of the proprietary ones you have mentioned will cease to work, and you will not be able to sue the standard PC Companion or Update Service to update/repair your handset.
There are a number of other repurcussions however they are outlined in details here:

  • Xperia Z2 Unlock Bootloader Allowed No

I'll just get right to it. When I enter the service menu, it tells me that: unlock bootloader allowed: no. I cannot unlock my bootloader. Now, nobody seems to know of any solutions to this problem. I know it is the carriers that are at fault, but I just want to know if it is *possible* to unlock my bootloader. If not, I will have to return this device for one that is more developer friendly. I love the phone, but can't use it without an unlocked bootloader. Sony needs to fix this.

I sent this email to Sony developer world a few weeks ago, and they haven't responded.
    Hi there,
I'll cut right to the chase. When I enter the service menu on my Xperia Z2, I discover they rooting status is set to "bootloader unlock allowed: no". This means that I am blocked by Sony from unlocking the bootloader on the phone that *I* own.
Don't tell me it's the carrier's fault (Bell BTW), because I know that you have the tools to change this setting, no matter how complicated the process may be.
I know that this has been done before, as evidenced by this Talk Sony thread a while ago:http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Android-development/Bootloader-unlock-allowed-No-SONY-solve-it-please/...
Why is this possible to do for one carrier but not another? This is ridiculous. Why shouldn't I be able to do whatever I want with the device that I paid for? The phone is SIM unlocked and everything.
When Sony no longer supports firmware updates for my Z2, then what can I do? I will be unable to flash any custom roms and will be stuck on whatever version of Android you decide to leave me with! This is a huge security risk number 1, and number 2 it's just a huge inconvenience.

I asked, "Has this BlackBerry worked correctly for YOU in the past?"
lol, ok. So the answer to my very specific question is, "No". You bought a second-hand, used BlackBerry, and as far as you know it might have been broken and not working for the seller. Personally, I would recommend you get your money back from the seller, and return the device.
Otherwise, you need to deal with ONE issue at a time. First, you must load the operating system.
See the link below for the download, and follow these simple installation instructions.
    1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=5D6646AAD9BCC0BE55B2C82F69750387
    2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
    3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

  • Motorola To Enable Unlockable Bootloader Via Software Upgrade?

    That would be nice,

I will believe is when I see it..... Also remember that the carrier still gets the final say so just because Motorola release the bootloader does not mean the carrier will authorize it and not to forget that a unlock bootloader does not make loading unauthorized software on your device ok because it still will be a TOS volation...
    Not a Win, Win.....
