Updating video manually w/ automatic song update

Is there a way to update my video's manually so they dont get deleted from my ipod if they dont exist on my laptop; but still keep the auto update feature for my podcasts and music files so i dont have to manually add music every single time(preferable be able to do updae selected palylists).
Thank you in advance. Also if the feature is not available i think it would be a great one for the next software update.

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I don't think it is currently possible, but there may be a way around it.
If you know where the videos are stored in your computer, you should be able to delete those. They will still show up in iTunes, but you will get an error if you try to play them. The thing is, when iTunes tries to sync to your iPod, it should think that the videos are in the library and not delete them. (Basically, the shortcut to the video would stay in iTunes, but the video file itself would be gone. You might get an "!" next to some videos)
I also agree that this would be a great feature. Tell apple...

  • ITunes 7 and Manually Selecting What Songs to Update

I can't seem to find how to manually select what songs i want to update to my ipod. When i connect it, i check the box that says "manually manage music and videos" and then click the "music" tab at the top, but all that is there is "sync music" and an option box for "all music and playlists."
I want to be able to select exactly what songs i want to update over to my ipod, like i could with iTunes6.
Btw, i have the latest software update.

This is ludicrous. Meant to be an 'upgrade' yet has totally messed up what I can do with my i-Pods (three and counting...)
With my i-Pod Shuffle, I can see a 'contents' tab, which lets me browse the individual songs like before, play them, delete them, add to the list, etc. With my i-Pod 15GB (a bit old, but I won the darn thing), I have no 'contents' tab. I can't get this up at all. I either have to delete everything or install everything, as a 'mirror' copy of i-Tunes music folder.
Has anyone figured out how to get the 'contents' folder to appear with anything other than a Shuffle? I also have a Nano (for down the gym - I need to unwind after this lot!)

  • Grayed out songs on iTunes despite "Manage music and videos manually" being checked.

I had to restore my iPod, and when I synced it after the restore, the songs were gone on my iPod like it is supposed to be, but on iTunes they are still there but grayed out. I have already done the "manage music and videos manually" thing, I delete all of the grayed out songs and try to add the songs from my library back to my iPod, but they are still grayed out. Please help if you can, I would greatly appreciate it.

I don't use manually manage so I'm at a loss as to why anyone would.
However, if I was Syncing my iPod to iTunes, then the picture you have posted would be just like that while iTunes was busy putting my music back onto my iPod. That's what the little double-arrow icon means; it's a list of files that you have asked to be put on the iPod (in my case, by Syncing the ticked items in my Library and in yours - apparently, by manually dragging them from the library to the iPod).
As each file is successfully added to the iPod, the progress arrows icon disappears and the song (file) name is no longer greyed out.

  • How Do I Arrange Songs and Videos Manually?

Hi. How do you arrange songs and videos manually? Can you just click, hold it and put it where you want it on the Song or Video the pane where it's displayed?
    Thank you in advance.
    Gbu.

The tip below can also be use straight off in iTunes.
First you create a playlist (not Smart Playlist).
Drag in a couple of songs/videos you want for your devices into the list.
Select your playlist under PLAYLISTS on the iTunes left panel.
Click the top left column above the 1,2,3..., it is the column left of Name. (You will see ascending or descending arrow head)
Arrange the list content the way you want it by dragging the songs/video in the list up or down.
Select your device under DEVICE on the left panel in iTunes.
Select Music tab and make sure your new playlist is included for Syncing
    Sync.

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • Trouble with loading videos - Manually manage music and videos not supported now with iOS5 and a 1st gen iPad?

Since updating my iPad 1st gen to iOS5.0.1 videos don't get loaded properly into the Videos app.
On the Summary page in iTunes of my docked iPad, I have always checked the box for "Manually manage music and videos".
I have my reasons for doing it this way, but that's for another thread perhaps.
The problem is that when I load a video to my iPad this way - by simply just dragging it from the desktop and onto the iPad, under Devices in iTunes - it copies/updates, and shows up on the iPad like it always has before iOS5. But now, with iOS5, when I undock, it can't be found anywhere within the Videos app on the iPad. The only way I can find it is to do a Search, which seems to find it, but when I click it, a different video plays - the first video in the Movies list in the Video app. Dock the iPad again, yes the video is there, according to iTunes, but no way to play it once iPad is undocked.
My suspicion is that with iOS5 you are no longer able to use the "Manually manage music and videos (Mmm&v)" that you will be forced to run everything through iTunes - and probably iCloud. I've unchecked the Mmm&v box, and get prompted with "Are you sure? - All existing content on the iPad will be replaced with content from your iTunes library". READ - "Rebuild your entire video and music collection, and this time run it all through iTunes. Welcome to iOS5. Have a nice day or two wasting your time rebuilding your entire video and music collection. Don't fight it. Use iTunes for everything! Until we finally make iTunes a decent piece of digital media management software, then you'll have to do it all again."
Okay, rant over - Anyone out there with running iOS5 on a 1st gen iPad with the Mmm&v option checked and able to load a video manually (not through iTunes)? Any other thoughts?
    Thanks

Yea, i managed to fix my issue in a wild fashion way But I DONT suggest it to anyone.
I like to hear why it happened after upgrading iTunes and if there is any peaceful solution.
Bythe way, here is how i fixed it :
1-i checked "manually manage music and videos" checkbox and clicked on "Sync" button
2-It showed a threating message that it will erase my music and videos ,......
3-I clicked on OK button and let iTunes do any thing she said , but the second it started to delete my treasures from my iphone, i disconnected my phone by pulling USB cable.
Now i have my musics and videos untouched and got that Option enabled again and i can manage my Music/Videos and Books manually.

How can I have a video of my personal song That I've written in iTunes Have 3200 views in 4 hours, ? Does iTunes upload your iTunes library ?

You can't write videos with iTunes.  You can't even write anything with iTunes.  iTunes plays media, not create it.
iTunes only uploads your library if you have subscribed to iTunes Match and then it is only viewable by yourself.  It doesn't include video.
iTunes is an application that runs on your computer.  It is not the iTunes Store which is something run on Apple's corporate computer's.
I think there's terminology problems here so perhaps simplify it a bit.  Are you talking about something you have on the iTunes Store server?  I know nothing about that but I guess it is possible people (or more likely automated computer programs automatically scanning the web) have had a look and that gets flagged as a view.

  • The time on my iphone 5C is constantly changing, regardless of me setting the correct time manually or automatically, all iOS is up to date and phone is not damaged, any ideas?

The time will stay correct for an hour or so, then jump backwards for no reason. I have tried setting the time manually and automatically and still get the same problem, and have tried with wifi on and off and it still does it. All my software is up to date and tried contacting EE who said to ask Apple. Phone is about 11 months old and have had no previous problems.

    Hi jennehbear,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
Your time jumping backwards an hour sounds like an issue with the time zone. Take a look at this article to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Manage music and videos manually from more than one computer

    Hello,
I'm triying to transfer music from two computers (work computer and home computer) to my iPhone. The problem is that when I select the Manage music and videos manually on my iTunes and then apply it keep saying that the iPhone is already synchronized with another computer and if I accept I lose all the media (video and music) on my iPhone. I just want to add new videos and new music manually without losing the existing ones, is it possible?.
I'm using the iPhone 3G with iTunes 7.7 (last version) and Windows Vista.
    Thank you

Then it is not possible to add new music files or video files to my iPhone from more that one computer without losing the ones I already transfered from another computer. This is a pitty
    Thank you very much

  • Failover Occured manually or automatically (SQL Server AlwayOn with Availability Groups)

    Hello everyone,
we had a Failover today on a Windows Server 2012 Failover Cluster with SQL Server Always On and now I'd like to know if the failover was done by the Cluster (or SQL?) or manually from a user...
    In the Cluster Log I can see following entry: INFO  [RCM] rcm::RcmApi::MoveGroup: (CVGID2, 1, 0, MoveType::Manual )
So I assume that the failover was done by a user... But: I can see only Movetypes of "Manual" in the cluster log of this always on system...
So my question is: Is it possible that since SQL Server (Always On) is kind of "driving" the cluster, that if it makes an automatic failover the Cluster will log this as a "manual" failover because it was not done by the Cluster service
    itself?
    Thanks for any help!
    Ville

    Hi Ville,
When we meet this event it indicate it is not an issue since the failover was triggered manually.
