Updating volume purchased apps

I want to update the apps that I have imported into apple configurator.  Otherwise, when I sync the apps to my supervised ipads, I have to update all the apps afterwards.  When I try to update the apps on itunes, the Mac is downloading all the volume purchased apps again.  Multiple copies.  How does the volume purchased apps update process work?  I had read somewhere that I update them on itunes, then re-import into Apple Configurator.  I'm just concerned because the Mac shows that it wants to download 500+ apps that I have purchased.

I too am having the issue. I have 30 new ipads I need to image and I don't want to manually update each ipad.
It makes no sense. I'm sure I'm missing something.

    Hmmm...
That should work.  Go here to determine if there is perhaps a third Apple ID involved!  If not, perhaps your memory isn't what is used to be.  Change the password.

  • HT1689 Hello I traveled outside the country and now my ipad cannot update or purchase apps. It tells me to switch the the USA store to continue; therefore how can I change the purchasing process to the USA store?

How can I swicth stores in order to update or purchase apps.
I am currently in a different country and I do not know why it changed stores to the local country store. I need to change it to the USA store to perfom updates and purchases?
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you

Here's a little more information from a previous post:
iTunes Store content is country specific. When you change countries, you no longer receive app update notifications on your iOS device or in iTunes for the apps you purchased in your original country, nor do those Apps appear on your new country's Purchased page.
However, you will still be able to download those applications again for free if they are present on your new country's store (even if they are updated). You will not be charged and the download will not appear on your Purchased page. If a previously purchased app is not available in your new country, you will not be able to download it again.
The following article describes how to review your account's purchase history so that you may view the titles of the Apps you previously purchased:

I can't update my purchased app even the free app as well. When I tap on the update button, it shows the apple ID as "[email protected]" on the login box. But that one is not my apple Id. This happening the app I bought from AppStore. I have already reseted my password then I did sign out and sign in restarting my iPad. Please give a solution.

Have you tried siginng into your won account in Settings>Store - you can sign out of Mr. Jobs account there and sign in with your own. You can also do this in the featured tab of the App Store in the bottom left corner of the screen.

Make sure you are signed in using the same Apple ID used for the original purchases.
Tap Settings > iTunes & App Store > Apple ID
If you are using the correct Apple ID, reset the device then try again.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Changed my email address / hence my Apple ID - can no longer update my purchased apps

I changed my email address. Logged into the iTunes Store and changed my address  - which is also my Apple ID. The change was applied. I can now low into the iTunes Store with my new email address. But I can no longer update my purchased apps. The iTunes Store claims I don't own the originals and suggests I purchase them. ***? I used their site to make the change. I did not simply open a new account, though that's how the store seems to be treating me. How do I get this reconciled?

Firstly, you need to change your details with Apple,  Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account. You may have already done this.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

  • Do you. Pay every time you update a purchased app?

When you update a purchased app such as game when you update is there an additional charge ?

Usually not, but you need to see all the info on the app to know if updates are free.

  • TS1702 I am getting an unknown error when trying to update or purchase apps from the apps store. This is new, after the new OS update. Help

Hi, I get this unknown error message, twice when trying to update or purchase new apps. It was working fine, then just stopped. I changed my password, but that hasn't worked. Help!

Sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
    1. Settings>Store>Apple ID.
    2. Tap your ID and sign out.
    3. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off.
    4. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try to download again.

  • Security code is invalid. - Cannot Update or Purchase Apps

Same issue as so many others. Again (this happened before but all I had to do was renter my credit card info). I was able to delete account and re-enter in both iTunes or online and it worked but not this time. Either the recent Safari update, iTunes update or iOS 4 killed the ability to use my nextwave Titanium Pre-paid credit card which I was using for over a year and a half with no problem. I was shipped a new card a few months ago, but up until yesterday, it was working absolutely fine for updates and purchases on the iTunes Music Store in Canada, even with a new security code. As it stands I can't update any of my apps now and no changing of the credit card through either iTunes, Apple.ca, or the iPhone seems to allow my security code.
After speaking with Apple Canada Tech this morning, it appears to be an issue with prepaid cards. However, I do not use another credit card, and it has worked just fine prior to updates. I shouldn't have to pick up a prepaid iTunes card just to perform updates on my apps, especially when all was fine prior to the iTunes, iOS, or Safari updates. Easily 3 hours wasted trying to get this resolved so far.
Incredibly frustrating especially to a long-time Apple product user (over 20 years). I'm going to stop trusting updates again and hold off doing any since there never seems to be enough people/time allocated to the bug testing departments to fix these issues. Please Apple, let's get these things fixed before the product's release. You're killing the excitement of new releases and updates again.
Also: when the iPhone brings up the first dialog box that says you must tap 'OK' to sign in, and the dialog button actually says 'Continue', perhaps they should be the same word to show some consistency.

Just thought I'd try reentering my prepaid credit card info again using all of the various ways (iTunes, Apple.ca/Store, iPhone, and MobileMe) and of course nothing worked. Still an invalid security code or even invalid number. Of course, no response from Apple on here and the phone support tells me to try a pre-paid iTunes card. Isn't that tantamount to bait-and-switch when my original credit card worked in the first place? And what if I don't have a budget for that?
It's clear that these credit card issues are affecting a large number of users as Google searches turn up plenty of forum postings about these topics, not only on Apple's boards but other web forums. If there was at least some acknowledgment of the problems and an attempt to fix them, or some kind of iTunes store credit given in the meantime, it would go a long way to building goodwill among your client base.
As an Apple user of over 20 years, I have never seen as many bugs as I have in the last few years. In my humble opinion, while these forums are an excellent start, clearly they are not monitored enough and there is not enough done to correct these problems.
My iPhone 3G is now not only running incredibly slow thanks to iOS 4, but I still cannot update apps - even the free ones - which may solve some of the slow software issues and crashes. Sure, purchasing can be done with a prepaid iTunes card, but that's a practice one shouldn't have to resort to when your original card worked in the first place.
Very frustrated with this great company. You are capable of much better.

  • Help please: cannot update or purchase apps

    Greetings,
I occasionally cannot update apps on my iPad - free or not free. I can never purchase new apps, free or not, and sometimes it won't let me update free apps.
I get an error message saying:
    UNABLE TO PURCHASE
"APP" could not be purchased at this time.
    Please try again later.
This has been happening for a few weeks. I've changed/updated credit card info, refreshed everything, restarted numerous times.
    Thanks

    Version 7.0.4 911B554a)

Nope - It thought it might be my slow internet connection in my new apartment, but when I went into work where it's fast, some downloaded, but a few others wouldn't. So now I'm even more confused. Sorry.

  • Updates on purchased apps..

Wondering if anyone else has run into this or not, I have PURCHASED apps on my PRE and often when going into Update the app is listed, one would assume that there is an update for the app and when I download they will not update I get the yellow triangle with the exclamation mark, whats up with that? The free ones always update fine, go figure the paid for ones will not
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

yes, hangs with the error type symbol, however today while checking the app catalog for stuff a couple that I have purchased had a funny arrow hovering over them indicating an update was available so I was able to update from there, royal pain though to have to find each one in the catalog and then go through the update on each one individually, much easier if done through the update icon on the pre`

  • After my company changed the e-mail address, I had to change my Apple-ID. How do I update my purchased Apps after the change?

The renamed Apple ID does not update all the Apps but comes up with the old AppleID, but that ID is not there anymore and neither the old or the new password is working
On the FAQ pages I just find a long list of Apps, stores tc. that I have to update, but no explanation on how to do that.
I do not want to buy all the apps again just because I had to change the e-mail address and because of that the AppleID.
It is ok to remove the free ones and load them again, but the paid one?
How is Apple handling such things?

OK, after reading other and similar threads too, I found a solution myself.
    Thought to share it.
On my iPhone, after the change was made at the AppleID site, I had to logoff from the old AppleID and then to relogon with the new/changed one. After that I could update all apps again
