Updating web module

Hi everyone
I am using LR 1.3 - Mac OX 10.4.X
I have previously created a template in the web module from images that I loaded from the library.
I then added this custom web module template and uploaded to my website.
Everything works fine until I come to update the web gallery using this custom template.
When I upload to the server or even export it, Lightroom is using the images and IPTC from the original template - in effect not updating the gallery on the browser.
Do I need to delete the template and images from LR and start again, surely it is possible to update a saved custom template with new images, but I cannot see how.
Thanks
Eric Whitehead

I'm a little confused by exactly what you're trying to do, but let me try to help.
1) If you're trying to add images to an existing gallery on your website, it cannot be done. You need to recreate the entire gallery from scratch -- select all of the photos, generate and export the gallery -- and completely replace the existing gallery on your server.
2) If you've selected images with which to create a gallery and moved to the Web module, the gallery should be generated. If you're attempting to apply a Template preset to the gallery, it should work ... UNLESS: You've updated the gallery to a newer version than that which was used to create the preset. Template presets need to be recreated when you update your gallery to a new version.
Does that address your issue?

  • Lightroom 3 Web module  (Updated)

I've used Lightroom 3 in the past for uploading to my website with out a problem.  Then, it seems at the same time as I uninstalled the trial version of CS5, my Lightroom 3 Web module would no longer upload to my website.
My inablity to upload information to my website has been going on for months.  I have contacted my FTP host and they say there is nothing wrong on their side.  I always check, re-check and re-re-check to make sure all my information is getting entered correctly.  I have even taken classes on the use of Lightroom 3 to make sure I am not missing anything.  When I attempt to upload the information, the exporting of files begins and it progresses all the way to "building the website" then stops after a few minutes and gives me this notice:  "an error occurred sending the file: connection to the server failed".  Can anyone please help?  Should I reinstall the program?  Will I lose all the information if I reinstall?
I should say that I'm running the latest version of Lightroom 3 on a Mac system OS X verson 10.6.8.  Any thoughts are appreciated!

I have a similar problem.  I've been using WSPP Impact, a LR3 plugin, to maintain a site with a gallery index page and 15 galleries.  Addition of each gallery has been straightforward until now.  But for the 16th gallery the WSPP publish service uploaded the photo files to my site server, but will not add the gallery index button to the index page.  This ay be a problem or limitation with the WSPP Impact plugin, but I get no reply to requests for help to the author.  Has anyone experience with this situation?

  • Flash gallery in web module not showing

When using the web module the flash galleries do not show anymore; there is simply a black screen in the center panel. The HTLM galleries show alright. The problem started a few days ago when I updated to Adobe Flash Player 11. Any suggestions?

I don't know that much about PC's, but you need to open the browser and click on the preferences, I think in the same way as you would do with a Mac and click on select javascript.
Rather than Firefox, get them to download a copy of Safari for PC from the Apple site.
Other than this I am not really sure of a solution, other than telling them to buy a Mac instead!!

  • Previews not appearing in Web Module

Veteran LR user here. Since updating, LR 5 consistently causes snags (for us) when creating web galleries. Here's the workflow: after editing raw files and applying settings, we have a nice folder of images cropped and ready to preview with client.
Now, when we go to the Web Module, the previews are grayed-back in the Filmstrip, and images won't appear in any of the web gallery templates (either custom ones we designed or the preset versions.) We've tried everything from flagging and staring images to get them to appear. Also save metadata to all the images in the folder.
The only thing that seems to work is to close LR5--with backup and catalog optimization--then, we re-open LR5. That seems to "free up" the Web Module. Upon reopening LR5, our folder of images suddenly appears when we go to the Web Module.
This is an unaceptable work around b/c closing and optimizing takes alot of time.  Making web proofing galleries used to be a snap in previous versions of LR, now we're stumped in LR5 trying to figure out what we're doing wrong.
Anyone's help would be very much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

It isn't Lightroom itself, or everyone would be seeing it. I'm currently working on a new plugin myself and all is fine-useless to you, but it may reflect something in your setup, like corrupt preferences. There is also an occasional jQuery problem in Lightroom where the whole system needs a reboot to get Lightroom back in gear.
I'd backup and remove preferences, then start Lightroom and see how it goes.

  • LR.3.3 Web module not picking up image edits

When I create a slideshow in LR3.3, it does not pick up the edits that I made to the images. The only things it picks up are crop and maybe sharpening (hard to tell). Haven't had the problem before today. Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    John

Pierluigi Vernetto, thanks for that link. Though it was for a web module consumption of the persistence package, I was able to adapt it for use by my ejb module.
Here is my solution, under split-directory development workflow.
Create the persistence module, place the persistence.xml in that module's META-INF.
Create an Ant task in the build.xml to 'wlcompile' and JAR it to the EAR direcotries APP-INF/lib directory.
Exclude the persistence module from the rest of the 'wlcompile' and 'appc' tasks.
I was then able to inject it with annotation in my EJB module.
dvohra16, thanks for that pointer. Now that I've been able to solve, the pressure is off (and shifted to other things). But I will surely check your option out. If I can get that working, it will be much easier than tinkering around with the build.xml and would be the normal flow of split-directory development workflow.
As of now, I will say this thread as 'solved', but if I get it working the way you mention (on my sandbox project), I will surely come back and update this thread.

  • TTG Gallery Index - Web module template

    Hello,
I'm today releasing my latest project, TTG Gallery Index for Adobe Lightroom. TTG Gallery Index allows you to generate a gallery index from the Lightroom Web module.
Be sure to read through the documentation for usage instructions.
This is a 0.9beta release. Get it:
    http://theturninggate.com/blog/ttg-gallery-index-for-adobe-lightroom
Also, there are a handful of known issues. If there be any CSS maestros among ye, I'd love some help squashing the bugs. Issues are documented at the above address.
    Feedback/suggestions welcomed and encouraged!

I'm getting an error when I try and save a Web Gallery Index template for future use.
A window pops with an Internet Explorer Script Error:
    Line: 1
    Char: 1
Error: 'return' statement outside of function
    Code: 0
    URL: agwpg://templateIcon:8/index.html
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
If I try and update the resulting template the line in the error
window labeled URL: will increment the number part of
    'templateIcon:x' where x will increment to 9, then 10, then 11, etc.
    Any ideas?

  • Customised Web Module

Would it be possible to have a feature in the Web Module to allow the user to add buttons to the generated website e.g Home, Galleries etc and allow these to be configurable as in the url and style.  This would better facilitate the integration of the web galleries into the users existing website.
    Regards
    Trevor.

I'm posting a reply so that this is updated....
Fixed...After continous searching I ran across a tech talking to a user that had a very sluggish Lightroom problem (which I also experienced)... After following along, figured I could at least see if this helped the speed problem if not the missing image problem, well, everything was fixed... Turned out to be a corrupt preference file... go to... appdata/roaming/adobe/lightroom/preference... rename preference to oldpreference and restart Lightroom, see if that fixes any of your problems;)

  • Web module problems in LR3

    Hi,
I've been happily using LR1.3 for a while, exporting flash galleries from the 'web module' using SlideShowPro. I upgraded to LR3 last week, now when I go to the Web Module, none of the flash galleries work, not SSP, nor the simpleviewer etc. ones. I've removed the old LRwebengines and replaced with the latest LR3 one's for the relevent galleries, I've also updated the flash player, still no joy.
All the paremeter options show in the right hand pane for each of the galleries, but the main window is just black. The top left info panel briefly shows a 'copying resources' progress bar and then a 'task completed' message, but nothing shows in the main window.
    Any ideas?
Edit, although the main preview screen is blank, I can export the gallery [certainly with SlideShowPro anyway] and the exported gallery is fine.

Yes the service ticket is still open. They have remoted to my computer. My last contact was that it was being sent up to Sr. Engineer. My problem goes away when I disable my wireless adapter. I think this weekend I will try hooking up to server with cable and see what happens. For now I am like you I use it by disabling the adapter then work on the galleries. Of coarse I can not push direct to my web site so I export to my desktop then us CuteFTP to up load. Like you this is a pain. I am still hoping they will find a fix. I have told them that I am not the only one having problem.
    Hang in there.

  • Web module - Upload settings not saved in preset

    Hi,
When creating a new preset in the Web module, the current upload settings are not saved. Which constantly leads to annoying mistakes when updating a site. I'm aware of bug reports that have been filed about this issue and the answer was "as designed". I tend to consider this as a bug.
Could someone explain this very strange design choice?
    Thanks.

  • Web Module HTML Templates fail to render colors per Preview

Help... any HTML Template in the Web Module only displays a white background. All my web site pages I've made using the Midnight Template.  Now, and I don't know as of when it changed, but now all white.   Flash Templates render OK, just like the Preview shows.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I almost never use IE (only if another download requires it).  Not even sure which version comes with Win7.  Perhaps a Windows Update changed something?  I always use FireFox.  I had been using a dual boot system for awhile, with WinXP on another drive.  I had no trouble with the Midnight template there, but I've never been able to see the Midnight template in Win7.

  • Lightoom 3 web module FTP problems

I am at my wits end with the Lightroom 3 built in FTP.  I have tried everything people have suggested to fix the problem with NO success.  I am begging anyone out there who might know about the FTP program in Lightroom 3 to give me some suggestions on what I can do to fix this problem so I can update my website once again.  I used to update my site weekly with the built in FTP inside the web module and then, for some unknown reason, it just stopped building the website.  It seems to go through the whole export process only to get to the "building the website" portion and staying there for a long while until giving me this message.  I have spent several hours with my ISP and my server host company and they insist it's not on their end.  I've have tried every possible stratgy they suggest and still nothing!  I know all my information is entered correctly.  I've tried all the ports and even tried without the firewall.  I use a Mac OS X with Snow Leopard with the updated version of Lightroom 3.  I have tried uploading my website on several different ISP's and still nothing.  Lightroom 3 is the only ftp that will not connect to my server.  I would be sincerely grateful to whom ever may have a suggestion.
    Thanks!

I have a suggestion. Transmit. I've never found Lightroom's FTP to be robust enough. It times out too quickly, and there's really not anything like the control from a dedicated FTP program.

  • Library grid shortcut issues within web module

If I select any field within the site info dropdown and select something else (to de-select the text field), hitting "G" no longer takes me to the library grid. The shortcut works when I initially enter the web module, but if I select anything from any of the right panel's drop-down menus, the shortcut no longer works. Has anyone else experienced the similar issue? Using LR 1.3 & 10.5.1.

The shortcut isn't working even after hitting the escape key. I tried alternate screen modes and clicking various places around the screen, but to no avail. I tried one alternate test (unfortunately after the original post) and the issue seems to only affect the flash templates. If the issue actually affected others, I would think the updating of the dynamic information for presenting in LR was creating some loop with the flash module that prevented the shortcut key from working. But if the shortcut key works for others when working in a flash template after a dynamic field is selected and de-selected, it's obviously related to my setup (or user error as the case usually is).

  • Help...PC User, LR 5 Map & Web Modules won't load

PC DESKTOP User, Windows 7, LR5 Upgrade (did the same problem in LR4), Internet connection is fine.
Map & Web Modules won't load on main screen. Based on what I could find in the forums it looked similar to a MAC OS issue with Flash. SO...I updated Flash and it seemed to work fine. A few days later...problem was back. I re-installed Flash again. Fixed. Upgraded to LR5...worked ok. A few days later...problem was back. Reinstalled again...worked ok. Now problem back again.
Web Mod. - I can see the templates in Web, but nothing will load. When I select layout styles I either get a gray screen or a "gallery not found" message.
Map Mod. - No map comes up. Sometimes the MetaData panel will load, but it's empty like it's not seeing the photos. Sometimes the whole panel is blank.
(Side note: all of this works fine on my Laptop.)
    Help!!!

    Hi,
    Try repairing permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done.
If you see any warnings re: SUID messages, they can be safely ignored, information here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448?viewlocale=en_US

Restart your Mac. If that didn't help, go to Safari / Preferences - Autofill. Make sure *User names and passwords* is selected. Now open Keychain Access. (Applications/Utilities). Select Passwords on the left. Delete all keychains related to the sites you have problems logging in.
Relaunch Safari and try those sites. You should be prompted to save the login data to a new keychain. If that didn't help, login to another user account. Launch Safari. If you see the same problems there, then log back into your admin account, launch Disk Utility. Select MacintosHD in the panel on the left then select the FirstAid tab.
If Disk Utility reports, you will have to boot from your install disc to make repairs, instructions here.
Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks
