Updating Windows modern apps during image servicing

Hi,
We use MDT to deploy our Windows images and also for monthly updating our corp images to keep them up-to-date with the latest patches.
I have the impression that this doesn't update the built-in Windows Mordern apps (such as the mail app, people app etc) if they get updates. Is there a way to automate updates to these apps in the image?

Based on my research, we can’t update the Windows store app in the Windows image.
The Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) allows you to sideload apps during operating system deployment.

Can You Update Modern Apps without using the Windows Store?

Our corporate image for Windows 8.1 has the Windows Store app disabled. We have started to see some users are getting prompted to update the built-in apps, like the weather app or the video app. When these users attempt to update, they are taken to the Windows
store where they receive a message that states the store has been disabled by the administrator.
We're using SCCM 2012 R2 CU3. Is it possible to patch these apps through SCCM software updates rather than through the store? Is it possible to leave the store open for updates, but not for new app downloads? What can we do?

Hi,
The answer is no, When store app need to be updated, it would download a full new version package of the APP, install and replace the old ap. This process do need to login Windows Store to finish the job.

Some Windows 8.1 Modern Apps will not open

Hi We have been using Windows 8 for 2 years, however since a recent migration to a global AD system multiple modern apps have stopped working. Mail, Store, Camera etc all work - however as an example Yammer, Weave, Facebook, Ebay etc all go to open, show
the splash screen then close (well they remain open on the side bar as a splash screen.
I ran the modern UI checker tool, all ok (initially it told me UAC was disabled, but it wasn't - but I clicked to correct this and its not reappeared.) it prompted me to update all my drivers - which I have done. I've checked folder permissions as per Article

Is there anything else I can check - it must be a group policy or rights change, but I can not find it. Additioanlly we are looking to widen the rollout of Windows 8 but unitll we resolve this there is no point.

Since it is joint in a domain computer, some Windows store Apps may be turned off by the domain system administrator by group policy.
You should go to the domain system administrator for help or deal with this according to the following link if you have the permission:

[Windows 8.1 Desktop/Surface/Phone] connect client app to synchronization service(s)

I have to do some research about: what is the best way to set up my project, I am new to Azure.
Situation:
I need to develop a service(s) and client app(s) that are able to synchronize data with each other: files and database changes. the client app(s) must have the capability to work online / offline, offline: when there is no internet connection
the data has to be stored local on the client device(s) and sync it later when there is active internet connection.
Client Devices:
Windows 8.1 (Windows 8.1 PC/Desktop)
Windows 8.1 RT (Windows 8.1 Surface tablet)
Windows Phone 8.1 (Windows 8.1 Smart-phone)
We prefer to create the clients as a C# Store App Application.
Service:
This might become , if technically possible and preferable, a Azure service who main task it is to manage the communication between the server and the clients

Is Azure supported in C# Windows 8.1 Store Apps?

Base on my experience, if you wan to synchronize data with each clients. I suggest you could refer to this solution:
1.Create a Sql Azure Database or storage account for storing your data
2.Create a WCF service (web role or work role ) for communication between Client and Database
3.Set Up Table Structure (Important). I suggest you could add the deviceID and userID to distinguish the different data source. And add fields such as 'status', 'create time', 'latest update time' and so on.
For example, you client insert a record into local database and set the 'status' as ‘stay update’ or '1'. When your client connect the database and synchronize the data to server, you could set the 'status' as 'updating' or '2' . After
synchronization data, you could change the status as 'updated' or '3'.
According to this idea, the client CRUD -> change the local state code
-> Sync data -> change the local state code ->
synchronization is complete -> change the local state code .If the mobile device need operate the data on the service , it also need to change the server status code to be updated, to be deleted (deleted should
be treated differently), the next time the client login server automatically checks the "state" as "pending action" and then synchronize the server to the client. So whether it is operating on a local table, or on the side of the direct
operation of the service, you can ensure that the data is synchronized two tables.

From your question, I think you could create a WCF service host on azure, and call WCF service form different devices. And this method is supported the different device and win8.1 store app.

Trigger Windows Store Apps update by script at first login

Hi
Is it possible to trigger Windows 8.1 to check for Windows Store Apps updates at first login?
My issue is that when I add language packs to my Windows 8.1 images, the default apps (Mail, Calendar, Food and Drinks) are still in English. Not until the Windows Store apps are updated will they change to the correct language (Language of the
OS). I have turned on autodownload in the registry using this registry key:
REG ADD "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsStore\WindowsUpdate" /v "AutoDownload" /t REG_DWORD /d 4 /f
It seems kind of random how long it takes before the autodownload kicks in. Some times it just a reboot and other times it takes like 24 hours. Can I trigger this update to start with some kind of script?

Which Nuget Package for Azure Service Bus can I use for Windows Store apps?

I want to use the Azure Service Bus Topics. I have an app that needs to subscribe to the Service bus Topic. The Nuget-Package for Azure Service Bus is not applicable for Windows Store Apps (I get an error during install), thats why I used the Windows Azure
Service Bus managed for Windows Store. Unfortunatelly this API throws a Serialization Exception when I create a subscription. What can I do to use the Service bus in Windows store apps?
Thats how I try to create the subscription:

As such, Microsoft is killing off Skype’s modern touchscreen app for Windows. Starting July 7, anyone who tries to use this app on Windows 8 or higher will be redirected to a download page for the desktop version.
The news doesn’t affect Skype’s modern Windows Phone app, and Microsoft says nothing will change for users of Windows RT tablets, such as the Surface and Nokia 2520. Presumably, that means Windows RT users will still have access to the app, though it’s unlikely they’ll receive any updates.

Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with one Apple ID with a new Apple ID.

Updating a Deployed app on Windows RT 8.1

I have an app I have written for Windows RT. I am able to deploy it using add-appxpackage in powershell. I have installed the Side Loading key and this all works fine. What I am looking for is a way to update the app for users that are in the field. We will
eventually have over 50 users using this app and the logistics of bringing in each tablet so I can do the add-appxpackage individually would be rather daunting. Is there a way to install an update to an app from within the app? I can write code to have
the new version downloaded to the tablet and stored in the local storage for the app. The problem is finding a way to run the add-appxpackage from within the app. Is there a way to do this?

How Do I Change the Language of Start Menu and Modern Apps After I Installed Windows? Applying Language Pack only Localizes Traditional Applications?

I installed Windows 10 Technical Preview with original language settings for the US region.
No that I need my Windows localized to Espanol - Spanish.
I type "language' in Cortana, select Add language to this device and click Add a language on the Region & language.
Then I select added language and click Set as primary.
After the restart I see that while Windows Explorer is displayed in Spanish, Start menu is displayed in English (including app sections such as Explore Windows), as well as Modern apps that have retained their English names (such as Mail).
I even set the location to Spain in regional settings (although I didn't like the idea, as I want to browse the US market). To no avail.
How do I change the language of the Start menu and modern apps?

Okay, I ran the in-place upgrade and it worked!
What I did:
1. Downloaded and attached Espanol edition of Windows Setup ISO.
2. Started setup.exe from that ISO.
TIP: If need be, you can downgrade your installation of Windows 10 Enterprise Technical Preview to Windows 10 Pro Technical Preview by changing two registry values, EditionID and ProductName. You may use the following registry file on Windows 10 Enterprise

Modern Apps will not open in Windows 8 Pro

I have been running Windows 8 professional since December 2012. In the beginning, the modern apps would open fine. I never used them much but they seemed to work OK. Now I can't open any of the modern apps. I keep getting a reminder
to upgrade to 8.1 and when I click on that it opens the Store app and then quickly shuts down and nothing happens. When I click on any other modern apps, nothing happens.

Image file can't be opened by windows store app if the file is in the Ext4's external hard disk.

My question is described below:
I have two disks, external hard disk and removable disk. They are formatted with EXT4.
I put the same image in the disks, and use Ext2Fsd to mount the disks.
I open the file in win8, and it will default open by the windows store app : photos.
It will be success to open if the file is in the Ext4's removable disk.
It will be failed to open if the file is in the Ext4's external hard disk.
I don't know why it will be failed to open if the file is in the Ext4's external hard disk.
Does anyone have similar experiences?

Base on my experience, if installed Ext2Fsd, we can read the ext4 file system on windows system. But Which version of Ext2Fsd did you use? From my experience, Ext2Fsd is not spported fine about windows 8 version. Please refer to this software official
