Updrade of MDM 9.2 to DRM 11.1.1.2

Hello Guys,
We are planning to upgrade our existing MDM v9.2 to DRM v11.1.1.2. So can you please suggest any good ways to do this upgrade and also please give some document links to do this upgrade. Also is there any way, we can reuse the MDM oracle databases in DRM or do we need to create the projects from scratch. Appreciate your inputs.

There is not an upgrade path from any version of DRM to 11.1.2, it is new installs only. There is expected to be a point release later this year that will have upgrade capabilities.

We migrated from 9.3.2 to 11.1.2.1 six months back successfully though it was NOT a simple task as suggested by Oracle.
We upgraded from 9.3.2 to 9.3.3 first as per Oracle recommendation and then from 9.3.3 to 11.1.2.1
The entire migration process is simple and can be performed from the admin console.
However, I would ask you to first do the upgrade in a Dev environment and reconcile all the exports from old/new environment to find out which of the attributes are not working in the new version as desired.
This is the most painful task I would say in the entire upgrade. There were few formulae which is different in the new version.
We had lot of attributes which We had to re-configure.
Other than that, things went smooth.

Sync MDM system 9 with DRM(EPM11)

There is urgent requirment in my project to sync MDM system 9 with the DRM EPM11.The condition is that MDM system 9 application is installed in SQL database whereas DRM system 11 is on the Oracle database. So how to sync both application?

To bring it in sync , i know one possible way that you can use export and (import/Automator) utilities.
Does any one knows that:
If DRM(EPM11) provided any migration utility which can be used if its source is of lower versions(8,9).

DRM 11.1.2.1 from mdm 9.2

Hello All
I ran the repository wizard to migrate MDM 9.2 to DRM 11.1.2.1 but now I see that the migration did not bring in the aliases
We saw this error.DRM-25611: Delimiter character must be exactly one character or [tab] or [space] or [comma].
Does anyone know how to resolve this ?

Oracle DRM 11.1.2 ( WEB Version)

Hi Guys,
There is urgent requirement in my project of Oracle hyperion DRM 11.1.2(web version) knowledge. I have experienced in Hyperion MDM 9 and Hyperion DRM 11 version, but i am not familiar with Oracle Hyperion DRM 11 (web version).
So, i need a favour, can anyone tell me how to sync DRM 11(web version) with MDM 9 version environment. And what are the complexity we faced while working in Oracle DRM 11.1.2(web version) than the MDM ( 9 and 11 version).

This is a much simpler process than it used to be. There's quite a bit more to cover than I can do justice in a casual response, but as far as critical path items to bring up your new environment:
The latest version of the installer will allow you to point to a v11.1.1.2 database and will 'upgrade' this into your target database. If there are any interfaces or other important processes using the DRM API or WDK these will require some reengineering effort. You'll also want to revisit your import and export process to leverage external connections before running a full regression test suite.

MDM Migration issue

Hello All,
We have MDM 9.2.0 version on our Dev and Prod. - Working fine.
Now since we are going to upgrade to MDM 9.3.1(DRM), i am performing a Migration test on a new Server.
Working Environment:
SQL server 2003
MDM 9.2.0
Testing Environment
SQL server 2005
DRM 9.3.1
I have installed the DRM 9.3.1 successfully on the new environment and i can login to DRM and create hierarchy, versions etc.
This is how i did the Migration:
1. I took a backup of SQL server table(2003) of the MDM(9.2) version and restored it into the Sql Server 2005 in the new environment, the DB restore was successful.
2. I created a new DB connection in MDM console
Now when i am trying to connect - getting an error " Could not connect to database: Cannot open database "xxx" requested by the login. The login failed"
Or is there any other way to Migrate? Please let me know.

If you are migration from,
1. 9.3.X to any legacy 11.1.1.X - you can perform a schema migraion and laso you can leverage migration utility if you wish to build your mata data structures
manually, with schema migration both Metadata and System meta data will get migrated.
2. 9.3.X or 11.1.1.X to 11.1.2 ( complete web) - you need to do a repository migration, you need to be little patient as it takes more time Legacy to Web
( remember migration utilty will not work from Legacy to Web migration)
3. 11.1.2.X to any latest versions, you can use migration utility as well as schema refresh,

Question-MDM or DRM

Forgive my ignorance, but is MDM known as DRM in 11.1.1.4??
I have an MDM 9.2.0.0 installed on a hyperion 11.1.1.3 environment and works without any issues.Will it work for 11.1.1.4 too ?
Also, Can you let me know about the procedure to be followed for migration.. The documentation on the Oracle website seems rather vague.

It's essentially the same thing. As of 9.3.1 (If I remember correctly), they changed the branding from MDM to DRM. What you will notice also is that, as of v 11, they moved completely from a "console" model to a web model, i.e., no more client install, but everything is available from a web front end.

DRM/MDM Import and Export File types - Question

Hi Guys,
We have been implementing Hyperion DRM to our existing Oracle Environment for managing the company's sales data which comes from multiple data sources. In my experience and research, I feel DRM is an excellent tool but there are some questions I have in our mind. The following are the few questions that I\we have.
a) How does the Import and Export of data functionality works in DRM? In this forum, I have found some one saying we can only import the data through flat files, in other words, "text file" with the delimiters [ ] seperated by comma. My question is, Is there any other possible way to import the data, Such as getting the data directly from the database tables? To get the data, Do we need to have any integration points or do we need to use SOAP APIs (& programming)?
b) While we exporting the data, can we export it directly to the Oracle database tables? What are the integration points needed for this kind of export?
c) Is there any sample guide or design document available for creating the hierarchy and nodes. I just want to know how the attributes that we have "is transformed" into the hierarchies and nodes in DRM? In the past, I used Essbase, which is integrated with DRM and that process was straight forward since we imported and exported data directly from DRM to Essbase.
I would appreciate any suggestion offered to me regarding the questions posted above.

Hi,
1.As per my knowledge the Import can be done using Flat files only,we can import the data from Oracle Tables once the structure is ready in DRM.
2.We have an utility called Export to Table(in the last tab when you performing an Export along with Export to File), which requires the DB mapping to be done properly,

Error in starting the DRM Server

Hi,
I have successfully installed the DRM and created the users MDM_DB and MDM_SYSTEM with default passowrd and added them to Administrator group.
Still I am getting the following error:

Database test connection is successful.
I have checked the COM+ components using DCOMCnfg.exe and MDM Process Manager, MDM Director, MDM Event Manager components are available.
Even Common Security Services, I have Enabled the CSS and it got registered successfully.
What could be the reason for issue and Where to check for Server Application Log.
Please help me.

Check the record in table System_Preference for the AuthMethod. If you have External or Mixed then you must set up the Hyperion Common Security Services in the console or you will get this error.

Adobe AIR Native installation + DRM issues.

Hello Friends,
We are looking at creating an application for a client whom is very concerned about piracy. They have a third party application which essentially injects DRM code into an windows exe. We created a demo air app which in turn was converted into an exe thanks to the native installer feature in Flash Builder for AIR and the third party worked fine by injecting after the DRM code.
However we realized that in the installation directory we can find the swf for the app, so essentially if we install another Air app and swap the SWF's we can actually get the content and circumvent the DRM.
I am wondering if there is anything we can do to prevent that (prevent the swf working within another AIR installation) and make it a little harder to crack.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

I actually wanted to clarify a few things on this question in hope of still gettign an answer.
Apparently MDM Zinc does a good of creating a exe that can then later be succesfuly injected with DRM requiring an activation code to be able to install the software. It seems the swf gets converted to something else therefore injecting the DRM is more effective.
However I still want to do thid via AIR, the problem being is that the swf can be found in the installation and can be placed in another AIR app to circunvent the instalation code.
Any thoughts are apreacited.

Hyperion MDM OS support memory limitation

Hi ,
I want to know that is Hyperion MDM is contrained by Operating System to support no more than 2 GB of memory?
Does it true for DRM 9.3.2 and Version 11 also?
If yes...Can it still support more than 80,000 member data into a single verion of DRM hierarchies?
Please help me to get answers of this problems.

There is a new 64 bit version of DRM coming mid year that should do away with many of the memory issues. You should contact your ORACLE rep for a proper roadmap.
Can you elaborate a bit on what you will be doing that you anticipate that volume. I have been involved in many implementations and I know that right now there are at least 3 Oracle customers that have over 1M and are running DRM successfully.

How can I force DRM-BATCH-CLIENT to create a non-combined Book export

We are running EPM 11.1.2.1 and feeding master data from DRM to Planning via a Book.
This process has been working fine run from a client. We export the Book and DRM delivers a zip file to the client PC which we can place on the server and load.
We are now trying to automate the end to end process so are looking at using the DRM Batch Client.
If we run with "CombineExportOutput=Y" we can create a single text file no problem.
Whenever we set "CombineExportOutput=N" we can't get any export file created.
We really want to do is to get the same zip file with multiple dimension files inside it as we do when running from the client. How do we do this?
The manual indicates that the files created take their names from the exports but I am not sure about where this comes from.
The exports and books are set with a target of 'Client'

OK, I can see that now. Strange that DRM is under System Integration and not EPM (kinda understand it but the various EPM bits do seem to be treated differently across the Oracle website).
PLUS if I look at [The Forum Desription|https://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=409] it states :
Covers Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management, Hyperion Data Relationship Management (formerly Hyperion MDM), and respective administration/development topics

MDM Installation Error........

Hi All,
I'm new to MDM.i tried to install mdm 9.3.1 ,at the end of installation it shows the following message:
"*The wizard was interrupted before Hyperion Data Relationship Management could be completely installed.***
*Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again***
*Click finish to exit the wizard."*

Couple of questions to help clarify your issue:
1 - Are you installing on a server via Remote Desktop Connection?
2 - Are you a system admin or using a system admin account on the DRM application server?
3 - Have you tried installing each componant seperatly? Web/App/DB?

I can use sample code to push data into DRM, using sample application WDK Import.
But for a new version and hierarchy created manually, I want to add a node into the new hierarchy, I create a add node request in request web application.
I can't receive any task in BPM site. also there is no request exist in audit in DRM web client.
do you know what's the problem?

MDM tools that can integrate with Hyperion EPM and SAP

We currently have Hyperion/EPM products, and want to introduce an MDM tool in the mix-mainly for automated metadata management.We are planning to purchase Hyperion DRM.
Meanwhile, somebody within the company has suggested we investigate SAP-business objects, since it is already freely available to us.I am not sure if there is an MDM tool packaged with business objects.
We already pull data from SAP. Just want to know if anybody knows of a viable solution for an MDM tool-one way or the other.

Thanks for the reply. The vendor supports OCI as well. However, since I was not familiar with it, I was thinking to go with cXML. When I opened the OCI pdf in the URL that you mentioned, it talks about SRM server. Like I had mentioned earlier, we don't use SRM at our company here. Can you let me know in couple of steps how OCI works and how fast we can implement in our ERP ECC 6.0 environment ? I am delighted to note that one of the companies in Japan implemented in 4 hours.
