Updrading from VS 2005 bundled CR XI to Developer Edition

CA Forum: Upgrading and Licensing
Hi,          Is it possible to upgrade a CR XI .Net Edition license that comes bundled with VS 2005 to a Crystal Reports XI Developer Edition license,  or do I need to purchase a full version? In case an upgrade is possible, what kind of license would I get? We have volume based licensing for Visual Studio 2005 through an MSDN subscription, would the CR XI upgrade also be volume based, or do we have to purchase a Developer Edition license upgrade for each developer?     Thanks

  • CRS Editor - Retrieving Timestamp database field from SQL 2005

    Hello -
For the life of me, I cannot retrieve a database timestamp field from SQL 2005.
I have successfully used 'cast(Date as char(30)) as DateStr' to convert to string but the DBRead statement displays the original object only as java.lang.Timestamp.  Any posts regarding this topic usually require Java skill sets above my level (creating new java class for import,...).
There has to be an easy way to do this without being a Java programmer, yes?
Any help here would greatly be appreciated!
    Thanks

    Andy,
I'm guessing you know that this isn't really a date/time value in MS SQL.  According to Microsoft:
The Transact-SQL timestamp data type is not the same as the timestamp data type defined in the SQL-92 standard. The SQL-92 timestamp data type is equivalent to the Transact-SQL datetime data type.
But to your question how to get the timestamp value out in a string...You'll want to use the convert function:
    select convert(varchar(10),myTimestampField) from myTable
That will return the hex value in the column in a string format.  Also, when you retrieve the data, are you looking at the original table (which specifies the column is a timestamp), or did you create a dummy table with the columns named and formatted the way the data will be returned that UCCX can look at for the schema?  If it doesn't have the correct schema to look at, you'll have problems.

  • Issues in restoring ReportServer DB from SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 R2

    Hello,
I am trying to upgrade reporting services for my project from SSRS 2005 to SSRS 2008 R2. I have already taken backup of ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB databases and the encryption keys in Reporting Services Configuration Manager.
The database is also restored successfully in SQL Server 2008 R2. Since reporting services was not installed in SQL Server 2008 R2, I have installed it separately and noticed that "Install but do not configure report server" was the only option
    available during the installation process.
After this, when I open Reporting Services Configuration Manager to change the report server DB, and select the restored ReportServer DB, the report mode is showing as "unknown" instead of "Native". Due to this, I am unable to restore
    SSRS.
It would be great if someone can guide me on what is missing and how it can be corrected.
    Thanks,
Harshad ----------------------------------------------------------- Please mark as answer if the post helped you.

    Hi HarshadR,
According to your description, your restored report server database can be recognized in Reporting Services Configuration Manager. Right?
In Reporting Services, for upgrading a report server database manually, we can just go to the Reporting Services Configuration Manager, open the Database tab, select a database, add click apply, report server will upgrade the report server schema automatically.
In this scenario, does it throw any error message when you apply the restored database as report server database? We suggest you drop the restored old version report server database and restore again, then apply it as report server database in SSRS 2008R2.

  • How to run ZAC CDP from a Linux Bundle

    Hi all,
I am trying to work out how to run "ZAC CDP" from a Linux bundle. We have 330 Satelites that I need to force the replication of the TFTP folder too in one staggered process.
Is there any reason why this would not work? would a script do it and anyone have a sample?
    cheers,
    Trev.

    I would imagine it's possible.
I'm assuming something (run as root user?)
    #!/bin/bash
    zac cdp
(you may have to put the absolute path in for the location of "zac")
I'm not a linux guru by any means, just that if you can script this via a cron job, I'm sure it can be done via ZCM Bundle.

    Hi Friends,
As we migrating our sqlserver database from 2005 to 2012, copy and attach sqlserver 2005 to 2012 database which is optimized way, or we should export data rows by table in new server is best way or just copy from sqlserver 2005 to attached
to sqlserver 2012 and change backup compbality parameter.

    Hello there,
    Please follow the steps below:
Run upgrade advisor on the databases for the instance you want to upgrade.
If any issues are found, talk to your dev team/ Vendor for fixing the same.
If issues are fixed proceed with the actual upgrade. -- Do check for the other dependencies on the database which might effect the functionality if the instance gets
    upgraded or something like that.
Get the downtime for the database.
Create the latest full backup of the database -- any other strategy will also work, just make sure you can recover the database.
Take a clone of the server if it's a virtual server to roll back any changes.
Run the upgrade on the sql 2005 instance from the 2012 set up. -- do check the pre-requirements for upgrade to sql 2012.
If everything is fine then you have an upgraded instance.
Also check the compatibility of the databases.
If all is fine then congratulations, you have upgraded your SQL server!

  • Conversion from SQL 2005 to SQL 2012 Express

Looking to move a small database from SQL 2005 to SQL 2012 Express - can a 2005 backup file be restored to a newly created 2012 Express database file?

Are you using 2005 express? Yes, you can do that
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms177429.aspx
Note that if you restore a SQL Server 2005 or SQL Server 2008 database to SQL Server 2012, the database is automatically
    upgraded.
    Also you
    cannot
    do a  cross
edition restore i.e. from enterprise edition (2005) backup to 2012 express

  • MS SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition

    Hi,
We are developing a legal management product on SAP platform
We would have  SQL Server to be used as a database for SAP ECC 6.0 in DEVELOPEMENT environment
The landscape of the planned development  environment  has a total of 8 servers. We understand that a separate MS SQL Server 2005 ( Question :- Enterprise / standard / Developer ??? ) edition is required for all the servers Each server will run its own instance. Each server will have 2 Intel Xeon CPUs with quad cores.
We understand that there will not be any users accessing the database directly. Instead, the SAP ECC software will create its own schema and users ( at most 4).
    1) Please let us know which edition is best suitable for us for above scenario .
    2) Does SAP ECC work on SQL Server 2005 Developer edition ?
    3) Can we have  one instance of SQL Server be used and multiple databases for dev, qa and prod be created from it
Your prompt response will much be appreciated
    Thanks a ton !

    1) Please let us know which edition is best suitable for us for above scenario .
    SAP ONLY supports Enterprise edition.
    2) Does SAP ECC work on SQL Server 2005 Developer edition?
No SAP willnot work on SQL Server 2005 edition.
    3) Can we have one instance of SQL Server be used and multiple databases for dev, qa and prod be created from it.
Yes, technically it is possoble. But not at all recommended by SAP.

  • Different versions of SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition

Some of our business processes still use SQL Server 2005 and I need to install Developer Edition on my desktop.
I have following downloads available in my MSDN subscription (other than Itanium):
SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition - DVD (English) - 1 DVD ISO
    SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition - 64-bit Extended - 2x CD ISO
    SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition - 32-bit - 2x CD ISO
The desktop is running 64-bit OS, so I definitely want to install 64-bit version. However, I am not sure what this "Extended" version available on CD-s is. Is this the only 64-bit version  in existence? Or are there 2 different 64-bit versions
    - "Extended" and "Non-Extended" (with non-extended possibly available on DVD - I haven't downloaded any images yet)?

SQL server 2005 is outdated so sorry if my answer is not to the point . First DVD version seems to me like installable which has both database engine and client tools present in it for installation
For second, SQL server 2005 installable was available in 2 CD's 1st CD was to install database engine/SSIS/SSAS/ SSRS features while second CD was to install specifically clint tools, books online legacy support . Its not possible to comment further without
looking at contents but I guess you can use 2nd one. CD 1 would have one part of installable and CD 2 would have second
And of course 3rd one is 32 bit of 2nd one.
