Upg 12.1.1 to 12.1.2 urgent

Hi experts,
installed 12.1.1 on AIX recently, everything running normal.
now upgrading 12.1.1 to 12.1.2 using mos : 949406.1
all db patches applied successfully.
patch 8502056 applied successfully
now applying 7303033.
patch stuck in

I found one mos R12 patch seems to hang in adobjcmp.sql or appostimportaad.sql or fapostimportaad.sql [ID 748501.1] which matching with my problem same. so I followed mos.

I am running the Portal 306 to 309 upgrade scripts in the following environment.
OS - Solaris
Database - 8.1.7.2
9iAS - 1.0.2.2
The upgrade seems to be hanging at Running upg/307/wwv/wwvupd2.csh. It has been stuck at this point for the past 36 hours. The process list contains the following process:
/bin/csh -f upg/307/wwv/wwvupd2.csh -sn WEBDB -sp webdb@wdb -rsp webdb -cs wdb
Querying the v$sessions table shows that there are no current sql sessions
Anyone knows what is happening here?? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
Upon inspection of the pupgrade script it was found that the
script upg/307/wwv/wwvupd2.csh was using SQL Plus to connect to
the portal demo schema (PORTAL_SCHEMA_NAME_DEMO). However, since
we had upgraded to portal 306 from webdb 2.2 we don't have such a
schema. The upgrade guide does not ask you to create the DEMO
schema before starting the process. Therefore the script fails at
this point.

SAN Switch 9148 UPG procedure when using Port Channel

Hi,
I am kind of new to the UPG procedure of Cisco Switch, and the customer i am working with is using Port Channel.
Do i have to shutdown the port channel before executing the switch UPG or if everything can stay up? Will i lose connection when the UPG will proceed ?
If anyone has some documentation that describe the process, it would be much appreciated.

What is the Smartnet service for the 2504 license upgrade LIC-CT2504-UPG ?

Hi guys,
Can some one explain me what is this service for ? I have the LIC-CT2504-UPG, with the LIC-CT2504-5A (5 AP licenses adder) and I don't understeand what are the SMARTNet services for this licenses ?
Are they needed if I already have the SMARTNet service for the hardware controller ?
Do these services provide something additional on top of the hardware service ?

Please check if you have set the Oracle recyclebin parameter. In Oracle 10.2, you must not set it. Restart the upgrade and see if this solves the issue.

Stuck by Upg BW 7.01 to 7.3 Step Configuration-Check Instances Detected

i have a problem during the Step Check Instances Detected Phase (Configuration)
the following error is shown:
An error has occurred during the execution of the CHECK_INSTANCES_DETECTED phase.
There is a mismatch between the dialog instances detected by the maintenance procedure and the dialog instances read from Configuration Manager. Possible reasons can be: Dialog instances were removed before starting the maintenance procedure and
SAP Note 871523 was not applied afterwards. Some of the dialog instances were not up and running when the procedure was started. Dialog instances detected by the maintenance procedure: DVEBMGS00 on svrsid02 with profile:/usr/sap/SID/SYS/profile/SID_DVEBMGS00_svrctw02 Dialog instances read from Configuration Manager: none
You can find more information in the log file /usr/sap/SID/upg/java/log/CHECK_INSTANCES_DETECTED_CID_06.LOG.
do anybody have an answer for this problem ?

i cleaned up the upgade directory for the third time, restart the server, cleanipc, searching in config tool for an old Instanz ID or anything else ... nothing help to release the problem.

I have a question about SPUM4 when doing an Combined UC&UPG on a 46c system.
As per the manual you have to run all the scans to complete SPUM4 in Prepare before starting the upgrade.
But do you have to perform the language assignment of the vocabulary list before the upgrade?
Is it possible to do this using SPUMG after the upgrade?
Basically I am being pushed for time and the project team is not ready to do the language assignments during Prepare. So it would be easier for me if I could do the scans and collate all the information required then perform the upgrade. Once the upgrade is complete, then allow the upgrade team to assign the languages post upgrade using the SPUMG transaction.
I am right in thinking that the vocabulary list has to be completely processed before conversion, this is because the words will use the global fallback which may not be right?

Hi Chris,
you have to do the vocabulary assignment in the SPUM4 environment (on 4.6c), if you decide to use CU&UC. In CU&UC it does not make sense to do the assignment after the upgrade.
In case you go for TU&UC, you have to do the upgrade first and then do the vocabulary assignment.
Regarding vocabulary maintenance:
It would be possible to even leave ALL language fields empty in the vocab and go on with the scans. However this will probably produce millions of entries in the reprocess logs (after the reprocess scan), which cannot be handled. The same will be valid for transaction SUMG, which needs to be executed after the conversion (see UCG). This will result in a completely meaningless test for the SPUM4/SUMG.
If your scope for this test is 100% concentrated on export / import downtime, then this might make sense. However if you are looking for a complete CU&UC test, this does not make sense.
On the other hand side, there are only a few customers who really manage to maintain the vocab 100% - so a small percentage of unassigned words is usually left over. But the goal should be, to get this as low as possible !
Normally in the first trial, the number of the unassigned words in the vocab can be relatively high. But the result of the reprocess scan can be used to assign additional words in the vocab (and rerun the reprocess scan after additional maintenance).
Of course this will take time ! But if you want to avoid problems with many reprocess logs and repair logs, I would recommend to spend some time on maintenance of the vocab.
What happens, if a word is not assigned in the vocab ?
1) It will produce at least one (probably multiple) reprocess logs
2) R3load will use the fallback code page for the conversion of one or multple entries and it will write a message in the according xml-file
3) In SUMG, the according entries (again one or multiple) will show up in the manual repair

Hi Chris,
I don't recommend to continue with the upgrade unless your data has a minimum amount of characters which are outside of the fallback code page. As a final step of the preconversion and during the export of the database, SAP will write reprocess logs for each record which has no valid language/codepage assignment. You can maintain the reprocess logs after the upgrade in transaction SUMG to convert the data. There is no option to maintain the vocabulary after the upgrade in the unicode system. The vocabulary is only used during the export of the database to convert the data. After the upgrade, you can only convert the table records one by one. This can be a lot of work and should be completed during the downtime for end-users.
I'm the project leader for a similar project (4.6c MDMP > ECC6.0 Unicode). We plan to go live in ~8 weeks. We use codepages 1100, 8300 and 8400.

Decompressing a .upg file

We have a Philips TV and need a software upgrade on it. Their support center
referred me to a downlodable fix that needs to be unzipped and transferred to a USB stick, then to the TV.
The original file I downloaded is a document with .upg extension. It can't be opened, and I haven't been able to assign an application to open it. The Stuffit Expander is see discussed doesn't support .upg that I can tell.
I have archived this file and can get it unarchived as a "unix executable file", but it does not transfer to the television.
The Philips support person assured me that the download could be "unzipped" on either a PC or a Mac.
Any Mac solutions before I call the TV company again?

I think Philips may be talking out of their collective scart socket!
.upg files are firmware upgrade files. There should be an associated .EXE file that uses the .UPG file to install new instructions into the firmware. Many different hardware makers use this file type for upgrades. They all have different formats so there is no single way to handle this file type.
Various programs use this extension; too many to list individually. Take clues from the location of the file as a possible pointer to exactly which program is producing the file. The file's date and time can also help if you know which programs you were running when the file was written.
If it was a unix file it would not run in Windows.
An .exe file does not run on the Mac.
You need a lot more information from Philips. And so do they for that matter!
