Upgarde from Macbook to Pro

I will be upgradeing from a macbook (Intel) to a Macbook pro. I am use to a windows system where I have to install all my applications again from scratch. Do I have to do this on my mac? Here are some of the applications I have. ILIFE 09, IWORK 09, APERTURE 2.1.3, MICROSOFT OFFICE 08, PARALLELS DESKTOP 4.0.3 with XP, Vista and KUBUNTU LINUX system.

As a general rule, anything with an installer you'll want to re-install using the installer. Office 08, iWork, Parallels... they all have installers. Of the 30+ applications I have installed, I think only 4 have installers. The others, you can simply drag and drop the app from the Application folder to your new computer (easy if you use target disk mode and a firewire cable).
I use VMWare fusion, and I had problems with my virtual disk when I switched to the new mid-June MBP. So I don't know what types of issues you'll have with Parallels.

  • Upgrade from MacBook to Pro....How do I transfer the data, Info, Music and Photos from my MacBook to a new Pro please??

Hi all......as the title suggests, I'm looking to upgrade to the 2011 MacBook Pro.
I currently have a 2008 MacBook and I would like to transfer all the info (Pics, Music, Apps etc) from the MacBook to the Pro - How do I do this please? Should I take it to a store to be done?
Also, I would like to "gift" my MacBook to a friend once I have the Pro - can I clear the MacBook and give it to my friend as a blank (but retaining the OS)??
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions offered.
    Cheers.

  • Changing HD from Macbook to Pro

I have a Macbook White and just bought a Macbook Pro. I changed my Momentus XT HD of the white to the new PRO. But now I'm trying to put the 320GB HD of the Pro into the white, but is saying that I can't install the Mac OS, only in time machine mode. My idea is to format it and give it clean to my mom. I've already tried both installation CDs. Can anyone help me ? Thanks

Ok, when you c booted off the Snow Leopard install disk, did you first use Disk Utility to Zero Erase and format the drive? HFS+ Journaled
This should completely wipe the drive absolutely clean and reformat it again, then install OS X afterwards.
If that doesn't work, get back to me, I have some much more drastic methods...

The camera must be plugged in to AC power (not batteries only). And generally, the camera should be set to Play mode, not recording mode.

how to transfer data from macbook pro to an external hard drive, im using (WD 1TB 3.0) ???. I cannot copy anything from my mac to it not a single file.

ok - since you'll be sharing it with a PC - connect it to your windows pc - then format from there - instead of NTFS format - choose exFAT.
or, you can read the link below on how to do it in dos mode.
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-files/how-can-i-forma t-external-drive-in-exfat-not-in/0f6bf19a-19d6-4470-ae05-53ddf26bb476?msgId=1860 eae3-3488-4eea-8326-f87b89d9851b
once you've formatted it - you can now use it in both your macbook and windows computer.

  • I would like to copy my iPhoto (9.4.1) library from my Mac Pro (10.7.5) to a Macbook Pro (10.7.5). Can I drag the iPhoto Library to Air Drop and send them to the MacBook? Will that then be a usable iPhoto library on the Macbook?

I would like to copy my iPhoto (9.4.1) library from my Mac Pro (10.7.5) to a Macbook Pro (10.7.5). Can I drag the iPhoto Library from the Pictures folder to Air Drop and send them to the MacBook? If I then move that to the Pictures folder on the MacBook will that then be a usable iPhoto library on the Macbook?

It would be better if you could connect the two Macs via a hard wired LAN to copy the library from the Mac Pro to the MacBook.  Wireless connections can have momentary dropouts which could affect the reliable copying of files.
If you do go with Air Drop be sure to open and inspect the copied library closely to confirm it was a successulf copy.

How can I transfer my photos from Macbook air to my Macbook pro? Can I use something that exports all my photos. I have tried with an external disk, but I not so happy with it, because I would like to keep events and it looks like some are missing. Thank you

  • How do i transfer my data from macbook pro to iMac?

i just bought a iMac.  How do i transfer my itunes library, photos, files via bluetooth from macbook pro to my iMac?  Much thanks for your help!

I believe that when you boot your computer for the first time and you are following the onscreen instructions you are prompted whether you want to transfer data from an old mac or PC. If you click 'transfer from an old mac' and follow the onscreen instructions, this may work.
If you have already skipped this step you could use iCloud to transfer data. If you make sure that everything you want to transfer is synced in iCloud, this may also work.

  • Transfer video from macbook pro to iPhone iOS 8

how to transfer video from macbook pro to iphone 5S IOS 8, anyone?

    Hi hjmdsalleh,
You typically use iTunes to sync your content to your iPhone.
iOS: Syncing your data with iTunes
If you are having problems syncing some videos, they may not be in the correct format.
iTunes: Videos may be unable to sync to iPhone, iPad, or iPod

How do I sync contacts and calendar from macbook pro to ipad2?

I have the same problem and have not been able to get contacts transferred from my MacBook Pro to my iPad 2.  I have checked "sync contacts", when it does the sync it says it is syncing contacts, but the address book on the iPad remains empty.  I tried checking the box under "advanced" that says to replace the contacts information on the iPad, sync again, same result—an empty address book on the iPad.  Any suggestions?

  • Syncing bokmarks in safari from MacBook Pro to iPad

How do I sync bookmarks from MacBook Pro to iPad in Safari? Thanks

You can sync bookmarks between your Mac and iPad using iCloud.
Instructions here >  Apple - iCloud - Learn how to set up iCloud on all your devices.
You get 5GB's of storage space for free.
Mac OS X minimum requirement for iCloud is Lion v10.7.5
If you are not sure which OS X is installed, click the Apple () menu top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac.
    The version is noted there.
ICloud has other great features aside from just syncing bookmarks ..

  • How to sync photos from MacBook Pro to iPad 3?

How to sync photos from MacBook Pro to iPad 3 without it automatically deleting previously synced photos, or replacing them with new ones?

How can I create albums in the Photos app on the iPad
Photos that were taken with the iPad (or any photos in the camera roll) can be deleted right on the iPad. Tap the trash can icon in the top right corner if you are viewing the pho,to in full screen, or if you are viewing as thumbnails - tap the arrow in the upper right corner - tap the photos that you want to delete and then tap - Delete.
Photos that were synced from your computer using iTunes can only be deleted by de-selecting them from the folder from where they were synced -  and then re-syncing.
