Upgradation Sun-IDM 5.0 to Sun-IDM 8.1
Hi All,
is there any procedure to follow the upgradtion process? or can we directly move the all objects from 5.0 to 8.1?
Could any one tell the best way to do it(steps)?
Thanks in advance,
Sankar

Upgrading sun identity manager 7.1.1 to 8.1
hi all,
I am Upgrading sun identity manager 7.1.1 to 8.1 and ran the DB script upgradeto81from71.oracle. It takes a long time and eventually hangs on this statement:
CREATE INDEX repo1.userobj_repomod ON repo1.userobj(repomod);
We have large number of users around 30,000 but it should still not hang....
Any thoughts?
I am using Oracle 10g client and database is Oracle 11.2.0.2.0
thanks a lot!
vikHi,
I did not have any issues when I did the upgrade but we also did not change the script from waveset to repo1.
In changing the script did you miss any of changes from waveset to repo1
By the way we have about 90,000 users so I do not think the number of users is the issue. The database version we use is 10g -

I'm a little unsure as to what your actual problem is. You say "Can I upgrade Sun ONE Identity Server 6.0 schema v1.0 to schema v2.0" in the question subject but then don't clarify this in the above.

Upgrading JMS/IDM infrastructure
Hi,
I have a couple of questions around upgrading IDM and the infrastructure supporting it.
We currently run IDM 8.1p5 on Sun Appserver 8.1
We use JMS-3.7 for Password Sync.
The goal is to create a HA/Load balanced environment for the above.
So, my questions are:
Does IDM 8.1 support JMS/IMQ 4.x?
Does JMS/IMQ 3.7 support load balancing or HA? (in case I cannot use 4.x)
Likewise Sun Appserver?
Would I be better off upgrading to JMS/IMQ 4.x and Glassfish to attain the goal?
What do I need to do to make this happen? Would I need to reconfigure JMS etc or will all my
current configs be saved during upgrades? Has anyone done this that has a bit of a plan to follow?
Thanks!Hi Divi,
It's been a while, but I believe you're correct. There are no database upgrade scripts required when you go from 7.1 to 7.1.1. However, you do need to run the install program because changes will be made to the code base.
Additionally, significant changes were made to passwdsync in 7.1.1 so be very sure you read the 7.1.1 Release Notes because there's specific changes that need to be made to web.xml, I believe. The gateway from 7.1.1 is also new and needs to be used.

Error message upgrading Sun One Web Server
We currently use Sun One Web Server SP 4. I have a RSA Cleartrust Agent to install that specifies SP 5. I downloaded SP 7. When I try to install it I receive the following message - "A previous release of the Web Server has been detected in the server root. Please select a different server root." I tried stoppping all the services, then installing, same result. The documentation says to run the install, it would detect the previous version and install. Do I have to uninstall the previous version? I do not want to do that. Thanks in advance.

Upgrade SUN appl. server7 enterprise to upgrade 1
Hi
I have recieved a cd containing the upgrade 1 to our SUN appl. server7 enterprise . Support advised me to unpack the sun_appserver7_pkg_solaris_s.gz . The readme file had a link to the install documents, but to me the only documents I can find is for the SUN appl. server7 standard edition.
I have also tried to execute the ./upgrade script. - it terminated with the following:
Performing pre-install_checks
Package SUNWascmn seems to be absent or not fully installed
Likely Corrupt Installation of SunOne Application server
Solaris is installed in the enduser configuration, as we don't want any developer tools on productions mashines!!
- so - where is the right dok. for the upgrade - and how can I upgrade the system???you are trying to upgrade an unbundled version installed on your machine
with a bundled version of the appserver. -

Dear All,
I've been looking for a couple of days to properly patch my IDM systems.
At the moment we are running on 7.20 SP9 p0 and I would like to apply the IDENT. CENTER DESIGNTIME 7.2 patch 6.
However till now I never have found any documentation or guide to properly patch IDM.
We already applied a few patches when we were running 7.20 SP8 but I would like to verify if the way we are using is the correct one.
Has anyone ever seen this kind of doc ?
Thx,
LaurentHello Laurent,
You can do so but that doesnt make any difference if you were using Copy of SAP Provisioning framework.
By chance if you have made changes in your SAP Standard provisioning framework then I would recommmend to copy it before upgrading so you need not to do export import of your old framework and continue using with new updated scripts.
In case you want to perform Patch upgrade, then below are the steps I used to follow :
1.Make sure the system is backed up based on your current backup procedures
2.Stop all dispatchers and event agents
3.Uninstall the old DESIGNTIME and RUNTIME components (Not always required to uninstall, you can simple install the latest component and those should upgrade)
4.From the new version folder locate the database folder and select your database type (SQLServer/Oracle/DB2
5.Run the appropriate upgrade script (check the Database specific PDF file for
information on customization and detailed procedure) You'll probably need to engage your DBAs on this as well.
6.Install the new DESIGNTIME and RUNTIME components
7.Verify the new version is installed through the MMC Console (you should notice the change in version on the splash screen and then when you go into look at the ID Store
8.Restart your dispatchers and event agents

If I add the -H to trace the headers this is what I get below. I have been fighting with this for a week now and really don't know what to do at this point. We use the RogueWave libraries with the Solaris Studio Compiler for more additional libraries but RogueWave says our version is compatible with Solaris Studio 12.3 and in fact we successfully compiled the RogueWave libraries with this compiler. I"m sure it something in our code but I can't quite figure it out.

Hi Everyone,
The current version of IDM we are at is 6.0. We are thinking of the following options:
1. Upgrade Sun IDM 6.0 -- IDM 8.1
2. Migrate to latest Oracle IDM.
Could someone please let me know the pros/cons in considering one over the other options?
Thanks,Hi,
A very interesting question but not one that can be answered easily.
As Oracle is in the process of buying Sun then the future of both products is uncertain. Sun IDM might survive or Oracle IDM might survive or the future Oracle IDM product may be a combination of both. I do not believe that we will see a resolution to this for at least 6 months. Even then it will only be an annoucement.
I also do not see an major improvements in either product until there is greater certainty of what will be the future product.
For your particular circumstance I would upgrade from Sun IDM 6.0 -- IDM 8.1. The main reasons are as follows:
- Software currency. IDM 6.0 is no longer supported.
- The upgrade is free of licencing costs.
- Improved functionaility of the latest version of Sun IDM.
- Little training is required
Migrating to Oracle IDM would not be a trivial task and would probably include significant cost eg training, licensing and potentially hardware.
I hope this helps -
Cisco IPS 4260 Can't login to IDM after upgrade to 7.1(9)
Hi,
I recently upgraded my 4260 sensor to 7.1(9). Before the upgrade, I could log-in to the sensors via the IDM (JNLP). Now after the upgrade, the IDM prompt comes up but when I enter my username and password, I get a pop saying "Unable to launch device manager from https://[x.x.x.x]"
On viewing the detailed logs, I get java.net.MalformedURLException: Invalid host: [x.x.x.x]. The same error is repeated multiple times.
I also get messages like "Trying for IDM. url=https://[x.x.x.x]/idm/idm.jnlp/
To me it seems that the program is unnecessarily adding the "[ ]" to the host and this is causing the url to fail.
I have downloaded a fresh copy of jnlp file from the updated sensor. My java version is 7Update51. This version worked correctly with the idm.jnlp supplied with the previous sensor update 7.1(8).
Cisco IME 7.2.3 can correctly connect to the sensor and I can also login via SSH using the same username and password.
Has anyone faced a similar issue? Is there a solution?
ThanksHave you solved your problem? I think I have the same issue.

How to enable IDM cc 7.3.49 after a firefox upgrade to 25.0.1?
I had already bought a registered version of IDM cc 7.3.49 before I upgraded my Firefox to 25.0.1. After the upgrade Firefox disabled IDM integration, and so I can not download flash videos or anything using IDM. I neither know if upgrading my IDM will solve the problem or not, nor I am not willing to pay for a new IDM upgrade. Please guide me if there is a way to solve the issue, or a way to restore my Firefox to its previous version or versions listed in my upgrade history.
Best Regards,
AlexI am not having the IDM, so i don't know it fully..
Try it...
# > Go to IDM settings.
# > Browser settings or IDM configuration
# > If Mozilla firefox is not selected, Select it & Click on ADD browser option, OK & enjoy... or IF Firefox is selected than Deselect & Reselect Firefox option, Click on ADD browser option, OK & enjoy. ....
Hope this help....

NetBeans IDE v 3.5 Cobundle" for windows.
I ran the install, everything went fine, but when the
install finished it said there was an error and to
please refer to the log file.
Does anyone know how to resolve this, I have tried
uninstalling and re-installing and I get the same
problem.
Thanks,
-MikeHi Mike,
Even I got a similar error message inspite of trying to re-install atleast 10 times! So I gave up and did this:
1) I downloded J2SE SDK 1.4.2 seperately.
2) I then downloded JPad Pro IDE (latest version).
Now both are working really fine for me. :-) Could'nt be bothered to try again and again.
Its up to you if you want to get the NetBeans installation done but all I wanted was a good IDE and the latest version of the JDK. I have been using it for the last 3 days and it is working perfectly fine!
Regards :-)
