Upgradation to 10.2.0.4 in 500 servers

Hi,
We have 500 servers having Oracle 10.2.0.2 Standard Edition on Linux.
All the servers are having same file systems, same file structures.
We are planning to upgrade the database to 10.2.0.4.
Is there any way to upgrade all the servers at a time instead of logging into each and every server and start the installation manually.
I would be very much thankful to you if you give me any clues.
Thanks,
Mahi

Mahi,
Its surprising that you have 500 servers with same release of oracle on it. I have 400 databases and that has anywhere from 8.1.x to 11.1.x and all releases in between :-). If this is a single app that is on all these servers, then you maybe able to pull off this automated upgrade. If the apps using these 500 servers(db's) are all different, you will be better off batching the upgrade by app since each app has the possiblity of behaving differently to the new version. Most of the time in the upgrade is spent in testing/fixing the app in the new environment. Batching it by app or if its all the same app, by a set of servers will be a good option. Even if something goes wrong, its limited to a bunch of servers rather than your whole farm of servers.
Good luck with the upgrade :-).
Shaji.

  • I want to upgrade my hd to a 750 or 500 on my mbp what do i need to match(specs)

im on a mid 2010, i am thinking about upgrading the hard drive(possibly later on trading it in.  But for the mean time what do i need to match? i know they have speeds, is there anything else? 2.5" as well right? how would you go about transfering your data to the new hd?  Is there any way to get itunes to recognize my new hd as my old hd(for sake of the iphone syncing)?

Your MacBook Pro has got a 2'5" SATA hard drive, so you can install a 750 GB hard drive without any problem. Visit the OWC website to get information about some hard drives > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/ HGST and Seagate hard drives have good reputation, and 7200 rpm hard drives will provide you extra performance.
After doing that, what you can do is to get a USB to SATA adapter, install the new hard drive onto your MacBook and connect the old hard drive by USB. Then, turn on your Mac and your computer will start up from your old hard drive. Use Disk Utility's Restore feature to restore your content to the new hard drive > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU7.html
You won't have any problem with iTunes. As you will be restoring your old iTunes library, you won't lose anything from the iPhone, as it will detect that you have got the same library

  • Upgrading hard disk from 320 GB to 500 GB

    Hi Mac Gang,
By how much will the weight of my 13" macbook pro increase by upgrading the hard disk from 320GB to 500GB?
    Thanks!

It's not the size (space) of a drive that increases its weight, it's more likely the speed of a drive that affects its weight. A 7200 RPM drive generally weighs more than its 5400 RPM counterpart (given the same model and same manufacturer), regardless of the amount of disk space in GBs. (The weight difference between these two different speed drives is probably only about 10-20 g.)
FYI: Data on a hard drive has no weight, either. ; )

  • Upgrade 6.1 to 7.1 on new servers

Hi, i cannot find information on how to make an upgrade from callmanager 6.1 using old servers to callmanager 7.1 with new 7835 servers.
Do anyone knows what is the process or can guide me with the link where lies the procedure. I wonder how do i upload the 6.1 configuration on the new 7.1 servers.
Thank you all for your time.
    Thanks

I have CUCM 7.1(3b)SU2 [7.1.3.32900-4]. It was upgrade from 7.1(3b) [7.1.3.30000-1] during installation. The subscriber has been added successfully but when I run Unified CM Cluster Overview Report it shows me a Unified CM Component Version mismatch for more than one component. In fact the mismatched component is not installed at all on the subscriber. This will affect the call process if I forced to IP phones to register on the subscriber.
Attached is the XML file for that report.

  • Does 2.0 Upgrade fix wi-fi access to Education (school servers)

I took my (pre 2.0) touch to my school board tech department to have them punch in the security code in order to access the boards wi-fi. They told me that (after several tries) it wouldn't work as all systems are Windows. Is this, was this a common problem and is it solved?

It would help to have a little more information -
Before, when you tried to access wi-fi at school, were you able to find the spot in the iPod settings? If not, then they have a problem, Windows or no Windows.
If you did find the hot spot, and then tried connecting to it with a password, did it show as forming a connection? If not, then there's a problem with the data being entered. But if the tech dept. could not make the connection using id and/or password, then I am losing confidence in them.
If you are able to connect with the password, but can't do email or connect using other apps, then perhaps you need to try the browser first, to see if, before you connect to a specific location, you get a login or validate page that you must first fill in. At my college and my local mall, connecting to the wi-fi spot is not enough. I have to open the browser and try to go to some site. Before the browser gets there, I get a special page that comes from the wi-fi server asking me to enter a password (college) or check a box that says I will play nice (mall).
    Otherwise...
If your school network is indeed configured for Windows in some strange way, then if I were the head of the tech dept, I'd fire the staff and start fresh!
If your network is properly configured you should be able to connect, pre-2.0 or with 2.0!

Finding this Post took some time but I thought it was me talking when I read it. I was having the exact same issue. I have a G3 I've been upgrading like mad, including a Sonnet G4-500 CPU a Maxtor 60gb & 80gb HDs 1gb of RAM a new LaCie Firewire800 PCI card Graphics card etc. the latest was installing Panther 10.3.9 on the new 80gb HD and also swapping out the old CD-ROM and replacing with the (Apple standard) Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-110D combo drive in it's place. got everything up and booted and poof! no burning. Toast worked read/write no problem. iTunes could read and import no problem, but wouldn't burn a CD.
Downloaded "PatchBurn 3.1.3" installed, re-booted and all is OK in burner land again :>)
I wanted to just post my additional thanks to the lead to Patchburner, and I'm going to donate to the cause. It's worth a $20 donation just for my joy of not throwing this computer out the window!!

  • Nokia 500 symbian belle w/ NFC support?

i wonder if i upgrade to symbian belle on my nokia 500, will it able to add NFC support? TY
    Nokia user since 2004.
    Owned 3310, 1100, 3300, 6600, 6300, 5310, 5130, N79, 5800.
Owns: 6230 (still alive) and 500....
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well the Nokia "Store" seems to think that the Nokia 500 has "NFC SUPPORT"... Please take a look at this link:
It clearly states there the folllowing:
     - "Simply perform the NFC handshake with another Nokia 500, 600 or 700 to unlock content."
So I don't know if whoever posted it up was trying to mislead people who own the Nokia 500 into buying their application and make them think that the software will "enable" NFC on the device.... Or just a "typo"?
It probably was a marketing strategy..... "me thinks"...

  • Adobe Upgrades

I installed OSX Lion a couple of months ago. Near the end of November I needed to do some work in Illustrator so I ran the app. Up pops a warning that the "licensing for this product has stopped working". It quotes error 150:30 so off to the Adobe website I go and try all the fixes they list there. Deleting FLEXnet folder and restarting the computer does not work. The LicenseFix application I download only works on PPC platforms, not Intel. After spending several hours reading blogs and trying all the various "fixes" I can find I give up and have to buy the Adobe upgrade from Illustrator CS3 to Illustrator CS5. Oh well, now I have the latest version and it's working.
Today I need to do some Photoshop work so I run PSE8 only to be greeted by the same "licensing for this product has stopped working." Great. Here goes another $100 to upgrade from PSE8 to PSE10 . I wonder if Acrobat Pro 9 is working??? Nope, licensing has stopped working. I get into an online chat with an Adobe tech. He says Acrobat 9 is not compatible with OSX Lion and I'll have to upgrade. Odd that Acrobat, which I use every day, suddenly is incompatible with Lion months after I upgraded to OSX Lion. So far I've paid $29 for Lion and am now faced with upgrade costs from Adobe totalling slightly over $500 which apparently is something to do with their licensing scheme that they've fixed with all the new versions of their products.
Why do I get the feeling that I'm being hosed??  Is Adobe charging users upgrade fees so their products work with Lion? Is this their way of generating revenue for the fiasco over Flash on the iPhone/iPad? Is there someone on the grassy knoll?
Has anyone else had these problems?

None of what you mention is anything new. Windows is the same way. Eventually, software is to old to work correctly with the latest OS.
Photoshop CS (version 8) is PowerPC code only, so will not work under Lion. That it tells you the license has expired is weird, but doesn't matter since it won't run.
Acrobat 9 is actually pretty old, also. It was released in July of 2008, so it's no real surprise it doesn't work in Lion. You'll have to upgrade to Acrobat X Pro.
Anyway, you're not being gouged by anyone. That's just the way the software merry-go-round works. It just hurts a lot more when you're updating software that costs more than $30.
Rather than updating these apps individually, it would have been quite a bit cheaper to buy the CS 5.5 Creative Suite, which includes Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat X Pro.

  • HAS ANYONE EVERY HEARD OF A UPGRADED PHONE WITH LESS PERKS !!!

i RECENTLY PURCHASED (2) TWO DROID X2 PHONES FROM THE SOUTH BEND, INDIANA VERIZON STORE ON IRELAND RD. THERE SHOULD BE A NOTE THAT SAYS BUYER BEWARE WE ARE PAID ON COMMISSION AND TELL YOU THAT IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY EVEN IF IT WAS A RAINFALL OR BLIZZARD OUTSIDE AS LONG AS THEY GOT YOUR ATTENTION.  AFTER OVER 1-HOUR CHECKING OUT PHONES AND ASKING QUESTIONS I DECIDED I REALLY LIKED THE DROID X2 WITH ALL THE WHISTLES AND BELLS AND THE 4G NETWORK "THAT WAS BEING UPGRADED IN THIS AREA", AFTER SPENDING ALMOST $500.00 AND TICKLED PINK WITH WHAT I WAS TOLD ABOUT THIS FABULOUS PHONE, WELL GUESS WHAT,  FIRST WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD SINC TO MY 08 FORD FUSION STEREO, "DONT WORK" YOU HAVE GOT TO HAVE A CERTAIN STEREO, SECOND, MY WONDERFUL 4G PHONE IS NOT A 4G PHONE AFTER-ALL IT IS A 3G PHONE !!! AND IT IS NOT GOING TO BE UPDATED TO 4G, WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD THINK THAT YOU WOULD SELL A NEWER VERSION OF PHONE WITH LESS PERKS, THE DROID X IS 4G BUT THE DROID X2 IS NOT !! DO THEY CARE THAT THE SALES REP MIS-LED YOU "no no no no" YOU HAVE THE PHONE THEY HAVE YOUR MONEY AND YOU ARE SCREWED FOR 2-YEARS MIND YOU THAT IS $126.00 A MONTH PER PHONE !! WOW, AND IT DON'T DO WHAT YOU WAS TOLD IT WOULD, GO TO THE MANAGER AND THEY CALL YOU A LIAR THAT THERE SALES REP WOULD NEVER SAY A 3G PHONE WAS 4G ~~ I GUESS SALES REPRESENTATIVES CAN NOT MIX-UP THEIR PHONES ON ACCIDENT OR ON PURPOSE, I WOULD SAY IT WAS A INNOCENT MISTAKE ON THE REPS PART, HOWEVER WHEN YOU ADDRESS IT WITH THE MANAGER THEY TELL YOU YOUR STUCK WITH THE PHONE BECAUSE IT WAS AFTER THE 14 DAYS RETURN POLICY ... WELL HELLO WHEN THEY SAY THEY ARE UPGRADING THE TOWERS YOU TEND TO BE A LITTLE LENIENT AND HOPE IT HAPPENS AS SOON AS THEY CAN, I WOULD RATHER WAIT A MONTH THEN TO SEE THEM RUSH AND SCREW IT UP ... BUT NO MORE ... THIS IS MY LAST CONTRACT WITH VERIZON IF I EVEN CONTINUE IT FOR THE TWO YEARS I AM THINKING ABOUT PAYING THE EARLY TERMINATION FEE'S WHICH BY THE WAY IS 325.00 PER LINE SO SUCKED OUT OF ANOTHER 650.00 BUT AT LEAST I WILL NOT BE PAYING 240 PLUS A MONTH FOR SOMETHING THAT IS NOT WHAT THEY SAID AND DOES NOT WORK FOR THE PURPOSE OF BUYING A 4G PHONE ~~ I HAVE ALWAYS HAD FAITH WITH VERIZON BECAUSE AT ONE TIME THEY CARED AND WAS THE BEST FROM NORTH, SOUTH , EAST AND WEST ~~~ NOT NO MORE ~~~ THEY ARE JUST LIKE THE REST REAL YOU IN GET YOU TO SIGN A CONTRACT AND FORGET ABOUT YOU UNTIL YOU DON'T PAY YOUR BILL !!!!! ANYONE ELSE EVER HAD THIS PROBLEM IF SO WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU ... I PERSONALLY AM CONTACTING THE BBB AND LODGING A COMPLAINT AS IF THAT WILL DO ANY GOOD BUT AT LEAST I GET SATISFACTION OF KNOWING THEY ARE NOT WALKING AWAY FROM ME WITHOUT A MARK ON THEIR FACE, NOW I WANT TO SEE IF THEY EVEN HAVE ENOUGH GULL TO POST THIS SO WHERE OTHERS CAN SEE AND READ THIS !!!

After spending so much time looking at phones, did you not notice that SOME phones have 4G on the description and others DID NOT? The X2 was one of the phones that DID NOT have 4G on the description. I would have taken that as a hint.
Second, the Droid X is NOT a 4G phone. It is 3G just like the X2.
YES, the X2 has the capability to sync to the radio in the Ford Fusion. NO, not all trim levels of the Ford Fusion. When you bought your car, you were aware that it came in different trim levels, didn't you? Did you think that ALL trim levels had the same features? Did the sales rep go out and see your car? If not, how could you possibly think that the sales rep knew what trim level you had?
You say that it is possible the sales rep could have been accidentaly gotten the 4G phones mixed up when he said the X2 was 4G. Well after spending so much time looking at different phones, some of which I am sure WERE 4G phones, I would think it is ALSO possible YOU could have gotten the 4G phones mixed up.
And to finish off, bad news about the ETF. It starts at $350, not $325 for you each of your phones. Good news, though, is that it drops $10 for each month of your service you complete.

  • Cost/benefit of RAM upgrade for iMac G5 2 GHz from 1.5 to 2.0 GB

Equipment: iMac 20" 2.0 GHz, 250 GB HD, originally 500 MB RAM upgraded to 1.5 GB: (1) 500 MB and (1) 1 GB DDR SDRAM, PC3200U-30330.
Not understanding the subtleties of memory upgrades, I bought this off the shelf with 500 MB RAM. When the processor board was replaced, I added a 1 GB RAM and can't say I noticed any change in performance. It does reduce the need for page outs.
After this, I read something about needing to have the DIMMs matched for there to be a performance gain. Or maybe this related to 64 bit operation? I read elsewhere in the Discussions that 64 bit operation would actually consume more memory and reduce performance.
If I upgraded to 2.0 GB, would there be any improvement in performance? In general or only in certain situations?
If I upgrade RAM, I'll have (2) useless 500 MB DIMMs. Is there any value in these? Where is the best place to sell them or do they have value as trade-ins?
Or is the best use of the money to put towards an Intel Mac that can support 10.6+ ?(...or a share or two of Apple stock.)
    Please convey your wisdom. Thanks.
P.S. I know the stock is the best use of my money, so just consider the hardware options.

I happened to find this answer while looking for something else.
iMac G5 and iMac G5 (Ambient Light Sensor): Benefit of using matching memory modules (RAM) http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2708
    Condensed version:
Applies only to original iMac G5 and iMac G5 (Ambient Light Sensor).
*If it has matching DIMMS it operates with a 128-bit data path, otherwise it uses a 64-bit data path.* A 128-bit data path allows greater throughput than a 64-bit data path. This allows faster manipulation of large files. With a 128-bit bus, you would see better performance when you have multiple applications open at the same time. Also, some enhanced gaming performance.
According to this, I was getting better performance before I added the 1 GB of RAM, except that degraded performance due to stuffing RAM to the gills has to be weighed against that. Seems like trading up to a full 2 GB would have some unquantified benefits. The only ways to find out are to find another iMac to compare with or to put in the RAM and see what happens.

  • Tiger Upgrade Locking up

    Hi All,
I have a server running 10.3.5 and I have tried upgrading to 10.3.9 and now I am trying to upgrade to 10.4. I have two servers that are the same and I am running Soft Raid to make duplicate disks of my primary server. I then take that duplicate disk and put it into the second computer and everything seem to runs fine. I then try to upgrade to 10.4 and after it has copied all its files and reboots, the system locks up with a blue screen, occasionally the lights flicker but nothing else. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
If by Server running 10.3.5 you mean Mac OS X Server (which comes as $500 and $1000 software packages), there is a Mac OS X Server forum where more people may be able to help you out. If by server you mean the Mac OS X Client $129 software is having an issue with Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Sharing based serving, please make that more clear that's what you are using. There may still be people here who can help you, but if not, check out the other forum. RAID configurations aren't all that commonplace on the client platform, though have been known to exist.
