Upgrade 09 model with the new mini display port?

Anyway to upgrade my 09 macbook pro with the new mini display port that supports both audio and video instead of just video?

If you are referring to Thunderbolt, no.

I just "upgraded" my iPhone with the new software. As a low vision person, your phone was always previously helpful. I now discover that I cannot use the phone easily. The font has been changed to a very narrow typeface and the greyscale has been altered to reduce contrast. The background is now grey as well rather than white. The accessibility options permit only three choices. First, increase type size. With the the low greyscale, thin typeface, increasing type size makes it HARDER to read. There is no option for contrast enhancement. Third, the background switch options suffers from the same deficit as the white background. The third choice is to enhance brightness but without the option to change contrast, this is useless. Am I missing something? Can this be fixed? How? When? Are you planning a similar negative "update"/change to other devices?

I am having the same problem. I have gone through every setting, set the bold font, contrast, larger font....everything I could find in any post to try and help - and between the new color scheme that makes it virtually impossible to use the pictures of my grandchildren as background (the picture colors now become the theme colors - which now match the colors of many of the "flat" icons...) I am finding the phone very difficult to use--espeically things like the calendar which has now become very hard to "see" and use. If I can't revert this thing to iOS6, I may have to get a different phone.

  • Can Minidisplay Port work with the new Thunderbolt Display?

    I have a 2009 MBP 15 inch with Mindisplayport.
Can Minidisplay Port work with the new Thunderbolt Display?
If not, is there any adaptor i can use to make it work.
I also have the new MBA with thunderbolt socket.
Cannot decide which display to get.
    Thanks.

Here's a new article that basically covers and clears up all the new Thunderbolt display questions (same things I previously stated).
    Enjoy!!

  • Will the rocketfish mini display port to hdmi adapter work with a mid 2012 macbook pro?

I want to buy it but im not sure if it will work.

I think your Macbook came with a Mini DVI port instead of a Mini Display port.

  • Why does iTunes not display hdcp content on my second monitor?  The adapter monitor and cable have HDCP Support.  This also occurs with a rocketfish mini display port to hdmi adapter.

It works for a time and then fails.
    ITunes 11.04.
    iMac Purchased Early 2013.

Seems to work when I swapped dapaters from theb 3.0 adapter to the mini display port adapter.  THis is the same thing that got it worling the first time byt in reverse.
Had already tried clearing the PRAM.  If it occurs again, I will have to try redetecting displays next time.  Judging by what I saw reading through these forums it will happen again,

  • Cant get external Monitor to run under Mountain Lion with Dr. Bott Mini Display port Adapter and Mac book Pro Retina!

    Hey there,
somehow I cant get my Zalman Trimon Monitor to run on my new Mac book pro (2012, Retina). I tried hooking it up with the Dr. Bott Mini Display port Adapter see here  ( http://www.google.de/products/catalog?client=safari&rls=en&oe=UTF-8&redir_esc=&q =dr.+bott+mini+displayport&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=9085840057573220630&sa=X&e i=rHMeULWUNo7ysgaZvYGYAg&ved=0CHIQ8gIwBg#ps-sellers )
Neither on my new mac book (with thunderbold) nore with the 2010 Mac book pro 13 inch from my girlfriend both running Mountain Lion, would it work. Does anyone has the same troubles or knows a reason or fix? The monitor definitly works (tried with my old mac book) and this is already the second adapter I use, since I thought maybe the adapter doesnt work!
    Help appreciated!

Hm, i cannot reproduce the kernel_task thing right now, but this is my temp after working with 2 screens for 10 minutes. is this normal?
100° cpu, 96° on the diode, and 78 on GPU chip? it even was 82 once.
when do i reach critical limits?
    apple?

  • Problem with HDMI to mini display port

I have been using the HDMI adapter to mini-display port successfully with my TV for months.  I have a late 2011 Macbook Pro.  My brother borrowed the cable to use with my mom's 2013 Macbook Pro retina display and now the adapter won't work.  He could not get it to work with her Macbook and had not realised that it had HDMI input so used that instead.  Now he returned the adpater to me and it does not work!  I am running software version OS X 10.9.2.  I read about a lot of problems similar but they seem to relate to 10.8.2 software.  Can anyone help or advise me why my adapter has given

I have two adapters and both have stopped working after using them with the later (2013) Mac. I think it may have damaged them in some way!

  • The Best Mini Display Port HDMI Adapter?

I am looking for recommendations on a good Mini Display Port HDMI Adapter for my Macbook Pro 2011 Sandy Bridge. I have gone through about 4 adapters in the past year due to the adapters become unresponsive after 2 or 3 months. I use my Macbook heavily on external monitors for my work (averaging 7 hours or more a day between various monitors).
I can rule out the HDMI wire itself not being the cause of the problem but the adapters have been a huge miss and drain on cash this year. If anyone who is also a heavy user can point me in the direction of a durable adapter I would be very grateful.

I always recommend monopriice.com for cables and adapters.
Mini DisplayPort | Thunderbolt® to HDMI® Adapter w/ Audio Support
But all these adapters are in the form of "pigtails" and no matter where you get them the strain relief and the cables can fatigue and break from constant bending or pulling (doesn't help your macbook socket any either).
Maybe you should order a bunch.  They are cheaper that way at monoprice.
Another possibility might be you trying a mini displayport to HDMI cable.  No adapter.
Kanex Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cable with Audio Support (10 ft.)
But of course you could get about 6 adapters for the price of that one cable!

  • My eyes strain badly with the new iMac display - 2014

    I recently bought a 2013 iMac 14.2 to replace my 2007 iMac 7.1.
I immediately noticed that my eyes were straining very badly in front of the new screen. No matter how I tweak the adjustments, I can't bear to look at the screen long enough to do any significant work.
Since I still have the old iMac in the same room, I can easily compare by just switching desks. With the old one, no problem. The moment I sit in front of the new screen, my eyes start aching and watering. It's not a question of contrast, brightness, or any adjustable parameters that I'm aware of.
I checked on the Net, and a significant number of other people report the same type of issues. I have not found any solution, nor any explanation.
I remember that in the days of the CRT monitors on PCs, I had to adjust the refresh rate as high as possible in order to avoid headache and eye strain. Anything 60Hz or below was unbearable.
Is there a similar issue with the LED backlighting?
Does anyone have an in-depth knowledge of the specificities of LED-backlit screens, such as wavelength, variation in light intensity/flickering/refresh rate, etc.?
There is a technical explanation and - hopefully - solution, and it's not "all in your head", "get glasses", "blink twice and stare at the opposite wall for one minute"...

Calibration affects the color, not the refresh rate, and I'm pretty sure that this is an issue of refresh rate.
Even though LED/LCD screens do not have the very noticeable flickering of a CRT when refreshing the image horizontally, there are still refresh frequencies used.
There is no direct access to these settings, and I wonder if there is a software out there that gives you access to the full display/GPU parameters.
My GPU is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M.
As I said earlier, there IS an issue here (other people are affected), and there IS a solution somewhere. Besides the fact that Apple should definitely look into it and come up with a permanent fix (like changing the default settings, or having a user-configurable display) I'm sure that users with the necessary knowledge will be able to work out a solution.

  • How does adobe apps looks with the new retina display macbook?

I'ver heard that it gets so blurry that you cant even read the text. I use adobe creative suite 6 production premium. does the video inside apps like adobe after effect play in "retina" quality? is there anything I can do to make it not blurry if it will look blurry?

I frequent the CS6 forums - particularly Photoshop - and most users are quite happy using CS6 products on MBP-R using the 'best for Retina resolution option. I have yet to hear someone say that they apps are unusable, etc. People are just waiting for Adobe to announce Photoshop for Retina display, as shown at the June Apple WWDC.
There's really nothing out there to replace the CS6 apps with - I think that you'll be fine with them. If you're anxious about it, just don't buy the Retina - buy a 2012 MBP with the HD anti-glare screen.
I assume that it will be several years before applications are updated for Retina - if at all.
Check out some of the CS6 Adobe forums to read what MBP-R owners have to say - I've not read that many complaints.
