Upgrade 10.7SC to 11i

We are looking to upgrade from 10.7 SC to 11i. Our current configuration is single node. We wish to go to a two node configuration as part of the upgrade. Is there a way to do that as part of the upgrade or do we perform the upgrade and then split the nodes out?

Upgrading from 10.7SC to 11i

Has anyone considered upgrading on a plant-by-plant basis or a module-by-module basis? We have 15+ plants implemented on the same instances. Our senior executives are looking for ways to mitigate the risks of upgrading in a "big bang" appraoch.

I do not have an answer for you, but wanted to let you know we are in a similar situation. We are looking at consolidating our database instances (domestic and international) and would like to minimize our risk on the 11i deployment. Feel free to contact me and we could compare projects.

Can anyone advise as to APPROXIMATELY how long it should take to move from 10.7 SC (16.1) to Release 11i?

1. How long does it take to perform the upgrade?
- The amount of downtime is a hot topic with any organization looking to upgrade. My company is currently in the process of a 10.7 to 11i upgrade and we are estimating 5 days downtime. This is a "safe" number. It could be 4 but then it could also be 6+ if the upgrade goes poorly. My suggestion is to take 5 days to the brass.
2. How long is the average planned project duration?
- The average project duration is a function of the size of your production instance, the amount of customizations you have, and the amount of resources you have on the project. There is no good answer. Honestly you may want to think about having a consultant assess your project and make sure you start off in the right direction with the correct mindset of what you are trying to accomplish.

Upgrading Oracle Financials To 11i

How long did it take you to Upgrade Oracle Financials (GL,AR,AP,FA & PO)from Rel 10.7 or Rel 11 to Rel 11i?

Depends upon how vanilla your install is. Assuming you've got sufficient hardware in place the install itself takes a few days (you'll want to run some test migrations to work out the kinks and perfect the process). Once the physical work is done its the testing and validation that takes all the time.

We have completed our first upgrade of FA from 10.7 SC to 11i. Most issues arose from the introduction of WorkFlow for Account Generator. In addition we have had difficulty activating the "security by book" new feature. This is still under investigation. We upgraded PO, AP, FA and GL. I can say that more than half of our time has been spent resolving FA issues.
The length of time the task will take will depend on which functionality you use. Have you seen the upgrade kit on metalink? it has all the upgrade steps. From that you could determine how many steps you need to perform.

11i Upgrade - Projects Pre-Upgrade steps

We are upgrading from 10.7SC to 11i (11.5.2) and in running several of the Category 2 pre-upgrade steps, we have found that only really old projects show up as exceptions that should be "fixed" prior to the upgrade.
These projects are now closed and the revenue/invoices etc. are for prior fiscal years. We will probably get accounting errors (from flexfield/acct combinations that have been disabled) if we try to process the old transactions. We are also not sure that we want to write revenue events or create changes for fiscal years already closed.
Has anyone else seen this? How did you handle it -- did you reopen projects, re-enable accounts and process the exceptions noted by the scripts? Will upgrade FAIL because of the presence of these exceptions?
Any input you can provide would be helpful.

11i Upgrade Plan

We are upgrading our applications 10.7SC to 11i. Can anyone supply a upgrade project plan that we can use as a sample.

Is there any such plan/template available which we can use to gain knowledge on R12 upgrade strategies and planning?I do not think such template exists in any of the links available for public access.

Cast error in upgrading R12 from 11i

Hi,
We are upgrading Oracle R12 from 11i.
In iExpnese-- DetailsCO I am getting the error i.e.- oracle.apps.fnd.framework.webui.beans.message.OAMessageChoiceBean cannot be cast to oracle.apps.fnd.framework.webui.beans.message.OAMessageLovInputBean..when selecting a value from custom DFF enabled in DetailsPG.
This DFF is also enabled in 11i and this code is running perfectly in 11i. I want to know is there any changes in the functionality of R12 for this error?
Your help is highly appreciated.

R12.1.1 upgrade from 11.5.10.2 - Can remove 11i file system before upgrade?

I am looking at doing the R12.1.1 upgrade on our 11.5.10.2 production system, I have done the upgrade in our Test enviornment already. Our production system has less disk space on the path with the current 11i system that will be the same location as the upgraded R12 filesystem.
Is it ok/possible to backup the 11i structure to another path prior to the R12 upgrade or does the R12 upgrade installer need the 11i file structure to be in place while upgrading?

Is it okay to run R12 rapidwiz with option "Upgrade oracle applications" while 11i DB/Apps are up and functional which is to lay down the R12 applications code tree as part of R12 pre-upgrade steps?
Can you please clarify if running R12 Rapidwiz with upgrade option modifies anything at the database level and effects existing 11i system?

11i upgrade to R12 and challenge in AP invoices interface with Vertex

Hi,
Right now we are in the process of upgrading our application from 11i to R12.1.3.
During the procure to pay upgrade, We are facing a challenge in interfacing R12 Oracle Payables invoices with Vertex Q Series Tax.
The existing vertex interface process is working in R12 till tax calculation. That is, the TAX is getting calculated by the Vertex engine.
But after tax calculation, the existing vertex interface process is not working because of the new tables in R12 and also some oracle standard packages (bellow listed) used by this program do not exist in R12 anymore.

ap_tax_recovery_pkg.get_default_rate
ap_mrc_engine_pkg.maintain_mrc_data
ap_mc_info.round_dist_amounts

11i.PER.N upgradation to latest

Recently I installed Apps 11i. I would like to upgrade HR application from 11i.PER.N to latest HR pack. Before that I would like to do post install setups like HRGlobal etc for legislatation patch.
