Please advise me of the best way to do this.

  • Exchange/Purchasing Printer Cartridges

    Hello Community,
Can anyone tell me if HP Home & Office still offers credit on printer cartridges when I purchase replacements for my 3180 All in One?  I've learned that Staples no longer does. Really need a quick answer.
    Thank You.
    GWillis1946

Do you mean a credit for empty returns or for defective?  AFAIK HP has never offered a credit for empties, but they do have a recycling program.
If you have a defective cartridge you should be able to get a replacement, see this document for information on cartridge warranty.

  • Pc2510 Check Right Printer Cartridge/Not Supported/Hourglass Errors

    Hello!
If anyone has had success resolving these errors, please let me know, even if it has meant replacing your print cartridge. Thanks!
    Error Description:
Original problem: The printer cartridge error message "Check Right Printer Cartridge" is blocking any use of the psc 2510, including scan and nonprinting noncopying functions.
Current problem:Hourglass freeze accompanied by printer sounds (alignment?) which stop, but screen message never advances past hourglass..
    Summary of Troubleshooting:
I received an error saying: check cartridge in right stall. Tried cleaning contacts on printer cartridge and printer contacts with distilled water. In process of employing other tactics in online tutorial, I tried unplugging power while the printer was open. Ever since, it just runs through hourglass and printer sound, but does not advance past this screen icon.
    Customer Technical Support:
Suggested a semi-reset of # and 6 keys plus unplug and replug or try new print cartridge. When asked if there was anything I could try before purchase of a new cartridge, suggested I unplug and hold power buton for 10 seconds, then replug. (Full description of these at bottom). Upon further research, representative suggested an upgrade.
Hourglass fix attempts employed from forums:
Tried to plug into wall outlet vs. power strip. (Fully plugged in loose connection to brick when noticed was not in all the way.) Reset modem. No results.
    What I Haven't Tried:
Have not tried a new printer cartridge until have exhausted all non-monetary fixes.
    Full Description of Troubleshooting:
The first error: check cartridge in right stall occurred suddenly after problem-free use.
The contacts on the black cartridge were cleaned but the error persisted.
After disconnecting use for a time, I reconnected last night to troubleshoot printer cartridge error on current Mac machine. Installation was completed successfully.
The same error occurred once setup was complete.
    I performed the following:
    1) cleaned contacts on black cartridge using distilled water.
    2) unplugged power cord (per post in forum)
    3) unplugged power cord and tried pressing cancel/left arrow (per same post in forum)
    4) cleaned contacts behind black cartridge on printer
    5) removed black cartridge, closed machine and got insert black cartridge error (attempt to determine which cartridge was the problem)
    6) Even though this message appeared to indicate the black cartridge was the problem (per web support article) I cleaned the contacts on and behind the color cartridge as well.
In the course of all of this trouble shooting I got a second error: "Print cartridge in right stall not supported."
I noticed that the fit is looser than in the color cartridge. I inspected the spring and cartridge area for damage and found none. Cleaned dirt however below contacts on machine.
Also, at one point during the trouble shooting I was able to get to the scan menu but then it quickly reverted to the first error message.
    7) Per general support article online, I tried unplugging the power while the lid was opened (as indicated during cleaning of cartridges.) This information was not in the manual that came with my machine. I was hoping this might reset things.
Then I got the third error: a period of sounds of the printer (alignment?) followed by hour glass on screen.
The 2510 appears to be frozen. No buttons like cancel or menu or on button caused any response.
I unplugged it again (this time with the lid closed) and got the same series. A period of sounds like alignment and then a halt of sounds with the hourglass still on the screen.
Customer Service Rep sent the following:
    Email 1:
    1.      While the printer is powered on, without turning it off, unplug the power cable from it.
    2.      Press and hold the # and 6 keys together and while you are holding them, plug the power cord into the printer
    3.      Hold the keys for about 30 seconds, while the printer tries to power on, and release the buttons.
    4.      If the printer turns off, use the on button to power on the printer, and follow the instructions on the display.
If it still comes up with the same error, I request you to try with a new black cartridge and get back to us with the results.
    Email 2:
    1.      While the printer is powered on, without turning off the printer, unplug the power cable from it
    2.      Press and hold the on button for about 10 seconds and release it.
    3.      After about 1 minute, plug the power cord back and try powering on the unit.
The reason I suggested to try with a new cartridge is because whenever the printer powers on, it does a self test to make sure all the hardware components are working fine, which includes the cartridges. So if there is any error with the cartridge, then the printer might freeze if it is unable to determine the cause of the issue or the point of failure.
    Email 3:
I did some research and the issue seems more likely with the hardware of the printer.[...]
If the issue persists, get back to us with the information below for upgrade options for your printer.
    Forums:
I then tried unplugging from power strip into wall outlet and resetting modem without result. Noticed blue light for wireless connection is no longer on.

I had the same issue with my 7610 (error=print cartridge not installed correctly), and tried some of the listed suggestions - opened up another brand new cartridge - same issue; put the old one back in - same issue.  So I knew it wasn't a defective cartridge, but rather something wrong with the spring that supports the cartridge, because it didn't seem to 'click' in correctly anymore.  Compared the spring on the black (right) side, to the color (left) side, and saw the spring hanging down.  Put it back in place a couple times - still without success - until I looked closer and saw that part of the plastic that holds the spring in place must have just broken off.  Tried t a little piece of tape to hold the spring in place, and finally, the cartridge worked - for now.  Hope this helps someone else if they're having the same issue.  Good luck!

  • Printer cartridges

I have a Photosmart 7520. I just want to voice my complaint that how dissatisfied I have become with HP printers. There is no way that my printing 10-15 pages a month will deplete the printer cartridges. This is my second printer for home use in the last 3 years. The first one had a bad diffuser. I replaced the printer cartridges last month on this one and now it tells me my cartridges are low or counterfeit. They were purchased at Sams club and installed October 2014. This is not the first time this has happened. I will be looking at other companies for a replacement. I can’t afford cartridge every 2 months and new printers every 2 years.

  • Printer cartridges replacement message

I have a C7280 All-in-One that I use sparingly, mostly black printing (set for black only as default).  Yet, every month or so I get messages telling me that I need to replace various colors.  My color usage is so infrequent that it makes no sense.  I've heard rumors that the printer cartridges are somehow time sensitive, in that regardless of usage, the printer reads a chip in the cartridge and requires their replacement within a certain time frame.  Can anyone validate that?  I'm getting ready to trash this printer.

  • Brand new print cartridge is damaged

I purchased a 3-pack of 901XL print cartridges from Sam's Club several months ago.  I used 2 without any problems, but when I opened the third, the cartridge is damaged and unusable.  The copper strip is partially torn and there's a hole in the cartridge.  The packaging was not damaged in any way, so the damage had to occur in the manufacturer's factory before packaging. I can't return the cartridge since it was purchased several months ago, and I doubt if I still have the receipt.  I'd like HP to exchange it, but I can't find any way to contact support to ask.  Does anyone have ideas?  Thanks....

  • I want "non HP printer cartridge" pop ups to go away on my Mac Mini computer. Please help

When my son is streaming Netflix, "non HP Printer cartridge" pop ups cover the screen like a virus has taken over.
No matter if I close them out or hit OK, they just sit there and I have to drag them over to the right lower corner and they will not be trashed.  I have an HP  Photosmart 6520 that is connected wirelessly. HP phone tech support told me that because it is a non HP cartridge (refill) , that happens to work better and longer than the original HP cartridges, they cannot help me get the pop ups to go away.  Funny thing is that the printer has always worked well with these cartridges, and these pop ups just started appearing after I upgraded my Mac to the latest update.  HP tech support told me to turn the wireless "Off" on the printer and said maybe that would help.  Solutions???     Joseph

    Hello heyjophi,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with a "non HP Printer cartridge" pop up on the screen.
This pop up will more than likely keep happening as long as you are using cartridges that are refilled.  The cartridge has a chip that lets the printer know how long it has been in the printer and it causes a popup on the computer screen. The only other way to get rid of this, other than using Genuine HP ink cartridges, is to uninstall the software from the Mac.
I do apologize for the inconvenience on this matter.
    Thanks for your time.

  • How to resolve the "Incompatible Print Cartridge" Message

    Hello everyone
Have you ever received the "Incompatible Print Cartridge" message? This can be caused by defective cartridges, dirty cartridge contacts, or using the wrong cartridges for your printer or region. If you get this message after moving to a different country and using a different HP ink you will need to call HP support and have them explain how to change the region of your printer.
If, however, you have not moved and you are getting this message with a new or current cartridge there is quite a bit of troubleshooting that can be done. There is both an article and youtube video to help you through resolving this issue They are both excellent tools to help with troubleshooting. If the steps don't resolve your issue make sure to try a different cartridges as this helps isolate the issue to the printer or the cartridge.

  • Print message print cartridge cannot move because of paper jam but the paper jam has been cleared.

My Envy 4502 printer message window says that the print cartridge cannot move and to clear any paper jam obstruction.  There was a paper jam and I cleared it but the message "the print cartridge cannot move and to clear any paper jam obstruction" remains there and I cannot remove it or get the printer to print.  I tried everythng listed in the troubleshooting section of the help guide in the software.  I uninstalled the printer and then reinstalled it which didn't help  in the slightest--the message about the print cartridge is still there.  I also tried unplugging the printer overnight (to try to clear the memory)  and this also did not help--that message is still there.  By the way, I can easily move the printer cartridge by hand and I can hear the cartridge moving when the printer attempts to work.  I would appreciate any help from anyone to get my printer to  work again!

  • Print Cartridge Problem: Tricolor - HP Officejet J4680 All In One

I am seriously going to have an anxiety attack. I run a business from home & I HAVE to have a printer. I just spent $50 on new ink cartridges. My printer was working fine for the last week, and then tonight I have this error message:
Print cartridge problem: [Tri Color] . Refer to device documentation to troubleshoot
SO I reset the printer, shut it on and off, cleaned the cartridge and the printer, switched out the new cartridge with the old one ~ same problem. Over and over.
I called HP and they said that since my printer is out of warranty they can't help me unless I purchase a new warranty plan. What horrible customer service. This printer is a product of HP and I should be able to get help regardless of when the warranty expired.
This is so frustrating. If I can't get help, I think I would rather buy a new printer of a different brand instead of paying for a warranty after I just spent 50 bucks on ink. GRRR!

  • Laserjet pro mfp m177fw - cannot install print cartridge

I recently purchased my printer, and now I have to replace the black cartridge for the first time.
The graphics on the printer cartridge itself, and the videos on the HP site are not of any help. the directions say to insert the cartridge into the slots and push into the retainer with the other cartridges.
When I slide the cartridge into the left and right slots, the cartridge will not slide down easily. I have to force it  and one side will slide and the other will not. I do not want to force it, in fear that I might break the printer.
Is there a more visual graphic somewhere on the HP site, on the internate, or on Youtube, that can help me solve this cartridge replacement issue?

    Hi, mxhall,
Welcome to the HP Forum. Sorry to hear you're having issues installing the new black toner cartridge in your LaserJet Pro M177fw.
First of all, you were very wise not to force the cartridge into the slot. Doing so could damage the printer and the cartridge.
Please take a look at the document at this link:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c03922339&lc=en&product=5445914&tmp...
Hopefully, it will resolve the issue.
Also, as you're inserting the cartridge into the printer, make sure that both ends enter their respective slots at the same time. If the cartridge is tilted even a little, it can make it hard to push the cartridge into the printer.
    Thanks, mxhall. Hope this helps.

  • K8600 Printer Cartridge Failure: Printhead or Sensor??

I have an Officejet Pro K8600 that ejects the print cartridge, cartridge light flashes, when I print. The supply levels say 80-100%. This happens even with a new cartridge. The diagnostics say the printheads are "good." I cleaned the print heads three times. All printing (when it does print) is clean and crisp, with no lines. HP support says I need to replace the printheads (yes, they are expired, but print quality is excellent). Office Depot rep says the print sensors are bad and motherboard needs to be replaced (actually says printer needs to be replaced, as it's not worth fixing). I love the printer (when it's not acting up) and speed and print quality is great. I don't want to pay $150 for two new printheads if this is not the problem. So, if print quality is fine, and cartridges are being ejected automatically in the middle of printing, is this a printhead problem or sensor problem? Thanks for any insights you might have on this....not ready to buy a printer for one that is only 2 years old.

    Hi there,
This can usually be resolved by cleaning the printhead thuroughly. Check this article out which may help.
