Upgrade a plug-in

Hi,
I want to change an InstanceProperty that was in the plug-in to a DynamicProperty. Here's the steps I made:
1. Change the metadata xml file, add the DynamicProperty and remove the InstanceProperty. Upgrade the metadata version number.
2. Create a new archive file, upgrade the mp version number.
3. Import the new archive file.
4. Deploy the plug-in, add the plug-in to an agent that has the plug-in before.
In the plug-in instance, only the old property name and value listed. How can the new DynamicProperty be shown in the instance?
Thanks for the help.

With the hot upgrade for plug-ins, the target type definition on the agent is replaced, but the old target instance definition remains. If the instance properties haven't changed, then everything is fine and the upgrade is successful and results in no discernible downtime to the plug-in administrator/user.
However, if the instance properties have changed, the target instance definitions can be incorrect or invalid. I think the best course for you to take is to "deprecate" the old instance property and introduce a new, dynamic instance property. I say "deprecate" but there is no programmatic notion of this in the XML. I'd suggest making the old instance property optional if it was required before and maybe changing the display text to indicate that it is not going to be used any longer.

    Hai,
Please download the plug ins and upload them into the /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in.
You can do it from frontend through SAINT tcode, this will automatically uncar the files and place it in the
    /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in directory.
Then you have to apply the plugins from SAINT.

You have to do this from 000 client and user with enough authorizations.

  • In CS4, "Cannot open file" "Please upgrade your plug-ins..."

    Greetings,
I am using InDesign CS4 on a PC. I am trying to open an .indd file created by our marketing department. I don't know what version of InDesign they use nor whether they work on Macs or PCs.
When I double-click to open the file, I get a "Cannot Open File" popup box. The box reads "Cannot open docname.indd. Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions, or upgrade to the latest version of Adobe InDesign." It then lists 18 different plugins:
    ASSIGNMENTS.RPLN
    TEXT.RPLN
    SPREAD.RPLN
    MASTER PAGE.RPLN
    TEXT ATTRIBUTES.RPLN
    .... and 13 more.
When I go to Help > Configure Plug-Ins, I can see that I do have all of these plug-ins. But apparently they are not the latest versions.
Anyone know how I can update these plugins? I have searched for them on the Adobe website, but no joy.
    Thanks in advance.
    Jen

It's a safe bet that they are working in CS5. The only way to get those plugins is to install CS5 on your machine.
You could ask your marketing department to export an IDML file from CS5, which you can open up in CS4, but it might fail horribly (and it's guaranteed to lay out incorrectly if they've used any tools in CS5 that aren't in CS4). If you rely on this workflow, by regularly using a document going back and forth between CS5 and CS4, chances are very, very good that it will fail at a critical moment. The only really safe thing to do here is to get everyone using the same version of InDesign.

  • Error "Could not open [filename]...Please upgrade your plug-ins

A collegue send us an CS4 InDesign file and when I opened, it says this:
Error "Could not open [filename]. Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions or upgrade to the latest of Adobe InDesign."
Any suggestion? I also have CS4 installed.

I see. Thanks for the help. I just confirmed with the sender of this file and it seems that she has CS5 installed. So, I can that you're right that it's a CS5 file.
    Thanks, again.

  • Cannot open file "Please upgrade your plug-ins" message

I'm trying to open a CS3 InDesign file and all I get is this error message:
"cannot open "filename". Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest version, or upgrade to the latest version of Indesign. " followed by a long, long, list of plug-ins.
    I'm using InDesign CS3 5.0.4.682 on OSX 10.4.11

Indeed. It uses the same .indd extension as all the InDesign releases. Since you don't have CS4, the Finder thinks it is a CS3 document. But it isn't.

  • Can't open CS3 File - Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions

I created a number of files many months ago with the same version of CS3 (3.01) that I have now on a Windows XP OS. I have not changed it in any way.
Now, when attrmpting to open one of the files I receive the following error message: Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions or upgrade to the latest version of InDesign
I've searched the forum and found no postings by someone who cannot open files created by their own InDesign.
    Your help would be appreciated.

Are you certain it's the same version? You'd need to have purchased new media for the PC.
What Bob has said is entirely accurate. Do you still have the Mac? I'm not sure exactly how to find the version on Mac, but I suspect that "get info" will return at least a version, if not the build. On the PC you can open ID and click the Help menu, then hold down the Ctrl key and click "About InDesign" to get a full information dialog.
If you can't confirm your version on the Mac, send me a private message and I'll give you an address where you can send one of the files as an attachment and I'll confirm the version for you.

I have a mac, In"Design CS 5.5, a design gave me a file said it was CS 6, does not open in CS 5.5..Message says "Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions, or upgrade to the latest version of Adobe InDesign."  I think I need to buy upgrade from 5.5 to 6. I found one on NextTechDirect for $150 to download. they are not a scam according to "scamadvisor.com."
When I drag the InDesign file that that was supplied by another designer who said it was  CS 6 onto my desktop it says CS 5.5. Is that because I only have CS 5.5?
    Should I buy this
Adobe InDesign CS6 Upgrade from CS5.5 WIN/MAC [Download] from Next tech....it is obviosly higher on the adobe site and alot of other places?

No one is likely to recommend where you buy your software from other than Adobe in these forums... not so much because of support for Adobe, but mostly because of lack of support/knowledge of any third party vendors.  I only know from experience that when you invest in bargain pricing you usually get what you pay for.

  • Upgrade my plug-ins

How do I update/upgrade my plug-ins? Files will not open

Can you provide additional details about the plug-ins you are trying to update? Are they CS4 plug-ins that you are trying to upgrade to CS5?

  • Finally G4 to Intel Mac.  Photoshop CS to Intel upgrade or plug-in?

Finally G4 to Intel Mac.  Photoshop CS to Intel upgrade or plug-in?  Do I have options?

No way. You need to buy CS6 or sign up for Creative Cloud. There's no magic switch and upgrade eligibility for CS ended by the time around CS3... You are way behind the times...

  • How do I upgrade/add plug-ins for my InDesign CS3?

Received InDesign file from a client to take and utilize some elements and add to the document design, etc. When I tried to open it would not let me -- gave me 2 lists of a number of plug-ins that my client has on their version of InDesign. Haven't upgraded anything on my InDesign in few years. I am working on iMac with OS X 10.4.11 system. What is available to me on my system.
    Thank you.
    Design-JJA

That file was created in a later version of InDesign. You are now 6 versions out of date and saving back to CS3 is going to be nearly impossible.
To upgrade you’ll probably need a new computer.

  • Upgrade and plug ins migration ? speed changes and transitions to motion 3

I have the FCS2 upgrade on its way soon i hope..
will my natress plug ins and others migrate when i go from FCS1 to 2?
I am mid project - have done all my captures but havent got into the nitty gritty of the edit yet - you reckon its a bit risky to upgrade?
I am super keen to get the ability to easily do ramps (in Motion 3 or in FC 6) and 3d logo fly arounds. Looking fwd to being able to throw transitions and speed changes into Motion 3 - i hear that it can deal with that now - is this true?

    Thanks - thats all good

  • Difficulty with upgrading Photomatix plug-in

    Hi there,
So I recently upgraded to Aperture 3, and went to update my photomatix plug in
last night to the new 64-but version. I un-installed the old version and then installed the
new one, but when I went into Aperture it had reverted to the old-version of the plug-in.
I went back out, went to the application support folder and sure enough the new version
had been replaced by the old, so I tried again, and this time went and wiped out both
versions, did a search of all system files (following the advice on HDRsofts website) and
removed all references and files for photomatix plug-ins, re-downloaded the new version
installed and... its still the 32-bit 1.1 version. Any suggestions or ideas, because I am
    pretty puzzled at this point.
    cheers
    Dave

Whoops... sorry everyone.... put this into the wrong category....... Gerry

  • Upgrade or plug-in CS4-NikonD600

    I have a new camera, a Nikon D600.
I'm using Adobe CS4 Design Premium.
I am not able to open the camera's NEF images in either Bridge or Photoshop.
Do I need to upgrade? Just the individual programs, or all of the Creative Suite?
Or, is there a plug-in available? Any other options?

There is no magic plug-in. Camera Raw support is always version specific - only newer versions of PS support newer cameras. You can of course try the free DNG Converter, but in teh long run, upgrading would be less nerve-wrecking and avoid all those extra files. if you have a suite, you can only upgrade to a suite, but it's a moot point - you have missed the deadline. So your best option would be to sign up for Creative Cloud.

  • InDesign CS5 - Cannot open File. Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest version, or ....

InDesign CS5 - Impossible to open a lot of indd. file. You can see exactly what happen in the fallow screenshot. Updates and upgrades done.
What can I do for open those indd. ??? tx

what patch? i have to get a patch for each version THEY have? my editor sent me an indesign file from an older version also and could not open that.
after much searching, i did what some suggeted and bought SOXY software for $20, acting like a filter, and it worked great this weekend, not sure if the OTHERS will be able to RE-open the files but that's their business, i guess. i'm angry at adobe for not having a go-between for this. i've been advised to NOT go searching after the long list of plug-ins but if you know of a patch or update that will fix these i would be eternally grateful!
    thanks!

  • How do I upgrade the plug-ins in Adobe Indesign ??

Can someone tells me how to do that ? Because I get messages that the plug-ins has to be updated...

It looks like the plug-ins used for one or more of your InDesign documents is not compatible. For instance if someone created an InDesign document with a more recent version of a plug-in or plug-ins and/or used a more recent version of InDesign. My suggestion would be to post your question on the InDesign forum as they are more likely to have the answer as front he looks of your screenshot those may be regular plug-ins that come with InDesign but I do not know for sure.
    Sorry,
    Jonathan
