Upgrade always ends in "Error Writing to File "

I can get all the way to the very end of installing itunes 9
then I get this...
Error writing to file:C:\ProgramFiles\Commonfiles\Apple\MobileDeviceSupport\etc\zoneinfo\Europe\ London
any ideas?

chefbecs, this thread should help as it is almost an identical location, with the exception of the last two folders. Just use the path that you were given in place of the path mentioned in the linked thread.

At the tail end of the install I get the message: error writing to file: C:\Config.Msi\d5166.rbf. Verify you have access to directory
This causes the install to fail and roll back.
    Anyone have a suggestion?

Problem resolved--reinstituted (for the purpose of this install) the highest level of UAC.

  • Adobe Reader Error Code 1310. Error writing to file: C:\ProgramFiles(x86)...

I have been forced to Sumatra by some error in the system.  When I download Adobe Reader 10, during setup, it stops and produces an error window that says 'Error 131. Error writing to file:  C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\Adobe\Reader10.0\Esl\Aiodlite.dll. Verify you have access to that directory'...Retry? Cancel? Retry. Then continues then stops at 'Error 1310. Error writing to file.....Reader10.0\CoolType.dll. Verify that you.... then Retry again and it finishes. Then all Icons on my desktop become Adobe Icons. When I click on the 'Adobe reader 10.0 Icon it says "Adobe Reader could not open 'AcroRd32.exe' because it is either not a supported file type or the file has been damaged (for example , it was sent as an email attachment was not correctly decoded)." I have been through this many times with Internet Explorer and Safari with only minor differences as Safari doesn't give me the difficulties with the setup but does have the same effect. I have tried to go back to older versions of Adobe Reader..9.0 and 9.3 to the same end. The only thing I can think of is that I removed Zinio Reader 4, that was necessary for the online magazines that I get from Mother Earth News and others, but thought I was having difficulty due to it being the only recent addition to my PC. I think somehow it may have taken something with it. Anyway I'm an older not so computer literate entreprenuer that has been forced to this and man do I need help.

I keep getting this error when trying to update iTunes: "Error writing to file: C:\config.msi\3a3043.rbf. Verify that you have access to that directory."  iTunes will not work.  Any time I try to apply settings iTunes locks up.  Anyone know how to fix this?

I had this exact same problem just now, trying to upgrade to 10.7.

After hours of frustration trying everyone's different suggestions, I downloaded Revo Uninstaller http://www.cnet.com.au/apps/revo-uninstaller-10610875/ which solved the problem.
Use it to help uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    1. iTunes
    2. QuickTime
    3. Apple Software Update
    4. Apple Mobile Device Support
    5. Bonjour
    6. Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Then you can install iTunes from scratch.

  • Cannot upgrade itunes due to error " c:program files|quicktime h264"?????

I just got myself a brand spanking new ipod, my husband has an older nano and uses itunes our computer. Itunes did not recognize my new ipod and said i had to upgrade to version 9. but when i try to download the upgrade i get an error message saying ERROR WRITING TO FILE: C:PROGRAM FILES\QUICKTIME\QTSYSTEM\QUICKTIMEH264.RESOURCES\NL.LPROJ\QUICKTIMEH264LOCALIZE DQTR.VERIFY THAT YOU HAVE ACCESS TO THAT DIRECTORY.
what the **** does that mean??? ive been on the computer all day dying to use my new ipod, have uninstalled itunes and quicktime but still it gives me the same error message. can someone please help, im going crazy, im desperate!!!!!

Yeah, there's anothe workaround we can try ... it doesn't fix the damaged files/folders, but it convinces the installer to ignore them and create new ones (instead of getting hung up trying to remove and replace the damaged ones).
In My Computer, open your C drive.
    Open the "Program files" folder.
    Open the "QuickTime" folder.
    Open the "QTSystem" folder.
    Open the "QuickTimeH264.Resources" folder.
    Rename the "nl.lproj" folder nl.lprojOLD.
Now try another install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Install Problem - Error Writing to file

I am getting the following error when I try to Install the demo of 3.4.1:   Error 1304. Error writing to file   C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Cameraraw\CameraPRofiles\Camera\Nikon d40X\Nikon D40X Camera D2X Mode 2.dcp.  Verify that you have access to that directory.
I though I changed access but it will not access when I hit  Retry.  Any suggestions?  Thanks  Alan.

Beat:  I ran as Administrator and tried downloading a second program  Same thing.  Then I check I I saw the file was Hidden so I inchecke
d that.  Same thing.  Then I checked the Nikon D40X folder and tried to explore it.  I got a message that the files were corrupted
.  So apparently LR3 couldn't get in there.  SO I tried to delete that file.  No good.
So now what?  What created that file in the first place?  Maybe I have to re-install that program.  Ignoring it as an option doesn't work.  It just ends the installatiopn of LR3.
    Any suggestions?

  • Error "1310: Error writing to file: C:\Config.Msi..."

Can someone help before I go completely insane,
I had Adobe Creative Suite 4 Web Premium installed on my Asus laptop, when I would try to update I would get that there was a problem and the 11 updates could not be installed, after spending about 4 hours a day for days I decided a clean install might help, THAT'S WHERE THE REAL PROBLEMS STARTED, I have now spent another 4 half days firstly with color profile rollback and had to spend hours changing permissions to delete color profiles, running Adobe Support Advisor, Windows fix's, Adobe clean up tool,
I have managed to get the programs installed again with one problem Flash additional components, when I run the support advisor i keep getting this   Error"1310:Error writing to file:C\Config.Msi..."(I have done searches and manually searched)
and kb408730r2 Error 1310 unable to write to a file-Creative Suit 4, I can't find this file I'm sure it does not exist so don't bother suggesting to change permissions or rename it,
I can't understand why a program worth thousands of dollars has so many problems, I am so disgusted.................................
at the moment I have most of the programs reinstalled, there updates available but I can't install them,
Anti-virus turned off, tried hard wire instead of wireless,
I have spent hours deleting Adobe files and folders, upgraded from CS2-noCS2 clean tool
contacted customer service, could not even understand my problem.................................................................................. ..

    The flash player works fine,
    Windows 7
I have tried to install several times, then had to go through the uninstall and attempt to clean up so have several log files,
Before blaming my laptop the only problem I have is with this program,
I have it installed on another PC and everything works fine, a tower,
From what I understand I can have the program installed on a PC and a laptop as long as I only us it on one or the other at any one time,
Researching these problems it has been reported that it is common on laptops for whatever reason and could be a result of piracy fears,
My version is legitimate and the Asus laptop has no other problems what so ever……
I have the “highlight new programs checked” on this attempt at reinstalling after reboot the Adobe CS4 program folder is highlighted then when it’s open most of the programs are highlighted like they are new, and they should be, but extension manager, flash, illustrator, and sound booth are not, like they are not a new instillation, but they are,
I spent ages on the colour profiles roll back also, one of many problems
One thing it has not been doing and I know it should because I have upgraded lots of programs, it’s not asking for the product key for the CS2 version and I know it should be, the CS4 is an upgrade but as I said its working fine on my PC
I also know I should not be spending a million hours try to work this problem out, I paid a lot of money for this and it should not have been problem in the first place, I was about to upgrade to 5.5 but that is definitely on hold….
I keep sending error reports to Adobe, one of the report numbers is 00-74926-225331012012

  • Problem installing 7.6.2.9 - Error writing to file

I've been using iTunes on this particular windows xp pro box since iTunes became available and have never had a problem until I allowed the upgrade.
I am getting the following error dialog during the "copying files" portion of the install:
"Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\etc\zoneinfo\Africa\Abidan. Verify that you have access to that directory."
I have spent quite a bit of time trying to figure this one out. I've scanned for viruses, I've run CHKDSK, I've killed all non essential processes, etc. but continue to get this error message each time I attempt an install.
I've read through the other posts that were similar but wondered if anyone else has seen this particular problem and been able to overcome the error. I know I could do a clean install, but have so much time invested in this current OS build that I'd rather spend some time trying to solve this. Any help out there would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    John

I can't see the file (with hidden files turned on) unless I boot from another partition. Then I can see it, delete it, or whatever I want to do, but once I go back in and do a reinstall, I get the same problem. I've even tried to use Process Manager to try to figure it out, but so far nothing...
It really felt like a disk problem but chkdsk reports nothing and I've had no other problems except this.

  • Error writing to file: c:\Program Files\iTunes\Mozilla Plugins\npitunes.dll

When trying to upgrade to the current version of iTunes (7.5), I get this error:
    Error writing to file: c:\Program Files\iTunes\Mozilla Plugins\npitunes.dll
The problem is caused on my computer by the corporate anti-virus, which blocks writing to any directory named "mozilla*". It is a rule in the registry that I can't change. I have uninstalled Firefox (which no longer runs on this computer due to restrictions), hoping that the iTunes installer would not bother to write files for an unsupported browser--no luck. Any tips here?
Unfortunately, I also uninstalled iTunes 7.3, hoping that a clean install would work--no luck.
I'd be happy if I could reinstall iTunes 7.3. Does Apple make older versions of iTunes available for download? I haven't been able to find them.
    Thanks.

  • Error writing to file c:\config.Msi\5159655.rbf - 8596

For a while now I have seen the same message about not being able to import or burn CDs because itunes was not installed properly, which didn't really bother me because I rarely did either of those. Then I was prompted to update itunes as usually happens when there is an update available, but along the way during the usuall update process, I recieved an error message:
         error writing to file c:\config.Msi\5159655.rbf
So I said screw it, cancelled the update, and continued to put up with the burn/import notice every time I opened itunes. Eventually I just wanted to fix the problem for good so I completely uninstalled every itunes and apple related application I had on my computer; itunes, bonjour, quicktime, apple update thingy, apple mobile device support, apple application support, safari, etc. everything.
I then proceeded to download and install itunes from online all over again, and much to my discouragement, itunes continued to open with the improper installation: unable to import or burn CDs notice every time.
I don't know what else to do if completely uninstalling and reinstalling the program doesn't solve the problem.
    Help would be much appreciated

  • Error writing to file when installing iTunes 10.

When I updated to iTunes 10 yesterday, it updated fine, but when I went to run it today, it had to configure. It was almost completed when I got the error "Error writing to file: C\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.Resources\ru.lproj\IPod touch License.rtf". I tried to access the file, but it says the file cannot be found.
I uninstalled iTunes, and went to re-install it, but at about the same time I get the exact same error.

    Hi,
Did you guys finally find solution to the problem?

Then it is a series of errors, similar.
In the end there is the dreaded linking error... for the ins_rdbms.mk sdo_on

    What the hell is wrong?
I have done everything right as far as i know... any solutions?
