Upgrade AP 1121

Hello,
I have upgraded an AP 1121G from autonomous mode to Lightweight mode using the upgrade tool of Cisco. The operation was successfully terminated but the tool didn't generate the SSC certificate needed for authorizing the AP in the controller (WLC 2106). And the access point fails to discover the controller.
Please help me.
I will be so appreciate.
Thank you
Houichi Nizar

Console into the ap and watch the log... it will show the SSC hash info in the log.

  • Upgrade 1121 autonomous to LWAPP

I have some access-points AIR-AP-1121G-TO-K9 and it would like to use them with a WLAN Controller. Is possible to change IOS for the software LWAPP to use with the WLAN Controller?
I know that that is possible in another models of access-points, but I don't know if the 1121 support that upgrade.
    Regards.

    Hi Andre,
Just to add a note to the good tips from Ankur. These AP's can be converted to LWAPP. We did this exact conversion last summer on about 30 1121G's with the **LWAPP upgrade tool**.
    Support for the 1121 was added in WLC version 4.0.155.0 Have a look at these related docs;
    Software release 4.0.155.0 New Features
LWAPP for Cisco Aironet 1100 Series Access Points (802.11g radio only) Allows the Cisco Aironet 1100 Series Access Point to be upgraded from autonomous access point mode to lightweight mode using the autonomous to lightweight mode upgrade tool.
Note You must install software release 4.0.155.0 on the controller before connecting 1100 series access points to the controller.

Access points must run Cisco IOS Release 12.3(7)JA or later before you use the upgrade tool.
    System Requirements
You can use the Autonomous to Lightweight Mode upgrade tool to install Cisco IOS Release 12.3(11)JX on these access points:
**All 1100 series access points containing MP21G (802.11g) radios
All 1130, 1230, and 1240 series access points
All modular 1200 series access points running Cisco IOS software and containing these supported radios:
    802.11g: MP21G, MP31G
    802.11a: AIR-RM21A-x-K9, AIR-RM22A-x-K9
All 1300 series access points in access point mode
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/ios/release/notes/b311jx1.html
Cisco has released a free tool called the "Autonomous to Lightweight Mode Upgrade Tool" that allows selected Cisco Aironet autonomous access point models to be configured for lightweight mode operation.
The Autonomous to Lightweight Mode Upgrade Tool supports the following models:
Cisco Aironet 1240AG Series access points
Cisco Aironet 1230AG Series access points
    Cisco Aironet 1200 Series access points that contain 802.11g (AIR-MP21G-x-K9) and/or second-generation 802.11a radios (AIR-RM21A-x-K9 or AIR-RM22A-x-K9)
Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series access points
**Cisco Aironet 1100 Series Access Points that contain 802.11g radios (AIR-AP1121G-x-K9)
Cisco Aironet 1300 Series Access Points/Bridges (AIR-BR1310G-x-K9 or AIR-BR1310G-x-K9-R). A Cisco Aironet 1300 Series operating in Lightweight Access Point Protocol (LWAPP) mode only operates as an access point. This series does not support LWAPP bridging mode.
The Autonomous to Lightweight Mode Upgrade Tool supports a process to migrate an autonomous access point from autonomous mode to lightweight mode. Unlike a VxWorks to Cisco IOS Software upgrade, this process is a Cisco IOS Software upgrade to the existing Cisco IOS Software image-not an operating system "swapout". In converted access points operating in lightweight mode, Cisco IOS Software continues to run on the access point, while LWAPP is used to communicate with a wireless LAN controller. Since LWAPP supports automatic access point configuration, there is no need to retain or convert the original autonomous Cisco IOS Software access point configuration.

  • ACS loses connection with AD occasionally after upgrade from 5.2 to 5.3.0.40

ACS had been integrated with Active Directory before ACS upgrade to 5.3. After the ACS 5.3 upgrade users aren’t able to login to AAA devices occasionally. Error message is:
    {AuthenticationResult=Error; Type=Authentication; Authen-Reply-Status=Error; }
24429 Could not establish connection with Active Directory
At the same time, when this issue occurs, ACS connection to AD works fine (checked with Users and Identity Stores> External Identity Stores > Active Directory “Test Connection”)

I had the same problem, I opened a Cisco TAC case and my issue was resolved.

Subject: RE: 622739355 HelpDesk#SVR328332-2 : Troubleshoot Cisco ACS 1121 v5.3 With Windows Active Directory
    Hi Ramraj,
Thanks for the link to the article, but from what I’ve seen in the logs I’m not sure that we’ve got the same root cause to the issue.
From the ACSADAgent.log files I can see log messages like:
    Aug 11 11:10:56 CSSC-TPM-DC-ACS-1 adclient[5524]: DEBUG network.state NST: SniffList: postfailsort=mykulad11p.cssc.dksh.net
Aug 11 11:10:56 CSSC-TPM-DC-ACS-1 adclient[5524]: DEBUG base.kerberos.adhelpers Encryption (id 1) is not supported by KDC. Try next in the list
Aug 11 11:10:56 CSSC-TPM-DC-ACS-1 adclient[5524]: DEBUG base.osutil Module=Kerberos : KDC refused skey: KDC has no support for encryption type (reference base/adhelpers.cpp:216 rc: -1765328370)
Aug 11 11:10:56 CSSC-TPM-DC-ACS-1 adclient[5524]: DEBUG base.adagent Unable to refresh computer credentials: KDC refused skey: KDC has no support for encryption type
This lines up with the error message that we see in the TACACS+ Authentication logs:
24493 ACS has problems communicating with Active Directory using its machine credentials.
I have come across a NETBIOS limitation (it’s not an ACS bug, but a bug has been filed for tracking and documentation purposes) that prevents two ACSs from being connected to Active Directory at the same time if the first 15 characters of their hostnames are the same. The bug ID is CSCtj62342 and its externally visible details are available here: http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCtj62342
The hostname of the primary ACS is : MYMY-TPM-DC-ACS-1
The hostname of the secondary ACS is: MYMY-TPM-DC-ACS-2
From the hostnames, we can see that the first 16 characters of the hostnames are the same. What this means is that once the primary is connected to AD, after some time passes (this will depend on when the secondary goes an talks to AD) the secondary will lose its connection to AD and any authentications hitting the secondary will fail with the same error: 24493 ACS has problems communicating with Active Directory using its machine credentials.
To resolve this issue, the hostnames of the ACSs will need to be changed so that the first 15 characters of their respective hostnames are not the same. Please keep in mind that this is a NETBIOS limitation and not a software bug.

  • IMovie and iDVD, Stupid Upgrade Questions, Sorry Must Ask

Okay, the deal is I have a PowerMac G4 Version 2.1 with a Combo Drive. I am upgrading to Mac OSX 3.0 so I can do certain things in iMovie and acquire a better browser. (My constraints on the iMovie project about which I've been inquiring are that at least 40 people have been waiting for copies of it for about a month and wondering why I don't come through with it--I sent a lengthy explanation to the guy who'll be duplicating it in case anyone asks. That's one reason I'm in such a hurry I have to ask urgent questions at forums and newsgroups and don't take the time to read every word ever written on every one of these systems and their various applications, abilities, and uses.)
I started out thinking I was about one step from having a completed project and the more I learn, the more grim the situation looks. Yet I've done ALL THIS WORK already to create beautiful titles and elaborately-edited outtakes. I HATE to ditch it all if any faint hope flickers into sight!
My Mac came with the following:
iMovie 3.0.3 -- which seems to be working fine, only problem is, due to deficiencies in other equipment, I'm having trouble getting my movie to DVD or into any other form where it can be played anywhere outside the Mac!
iDVD 2.1 -- My feeble brain, inadequate as it may be, has so far gathered the information that to go to DVD, a project can't be played in iMovie and sent straight to a DVD burner (can it?) There has to be some intermediary step. (Right?) People have argued the various merits of iDVD vs. Toast to accomplish this step. I hadn't opened my copy of iDVD because I am in no way near the point of being ready to make a DVD--I have not yet finished editing the project in iMovie. I made the hideous error of ASSUMING that since this came installed in my Mac, it would work fine when needed, just as iMovie did. When I tried to open it just to see what version I had, it wouldn't open and told me this:
    System Requirements
iDVD 2 requires a PowerMac G4 computer with 256 Megs of RAM, a built-in DVD-R Superdrive and Mac OS 10.1.3 or later.
Stupid redundant bonus question #1: WHY would this come installed on a Mac which lacks the hardware to use it? (iMovie could still be used to edit, and then copy projects--if I had a digital video camera--which I don't. The only other way we've figured is to send it back through the Canopus ADVC110 converter I used to get the video in there, and play it out to a VCR--a cumbersome process I've been assured will result in crummy quality.)
Okay, here are the REAL questions:
    1. I don't suppose there's any way the Canopus could be connected to the DVD burner and the information sent to a DVD that way? Just asking.
    2. Obviously the upgrade isn't going to fix things to make iDVD work, as I'm already using Mac OSX 10.2.8, so I would assume its discontent stems from not having the Superdrive--at least, it was complaining something about inadequate hardware and I think that's what it meant. Will connecting a DVD burner via FireWire convince iDVD to work (either automatically or after some sort of tweaking), or am I stuck replacing the drive? I bought a DVD burner the minute I realized my drive was a Combo Drive and not a Superdrive (which is the first time I stuck a blank DVD in it and nothing happened) before learning details about this intermediary step and that there is more than one way to accomplish it.
    3. Is it even worth replacing the Combo Drive with a Superdrive or is it more worth buying a whole new Mac? If I am FORCED to buy a new Mac, what should I do with the old one? (Not only am I ethically opposed to tossing a perfectly good piece of electronic equipment into the ravine, I might get fined for littering. Can a good home be found for it? For that matter it would be a pain as I've saved all sorts of stuff to the Hard Drive which would have to be transferred to the new one before I could get rid of the old one. So can I keep the old one...PLEASE?)
    4. After making the system upgrade, will I be able to bypass iDVD entirely by using Toast, or does Toast also have all sorts of requirements my hardware does not possess so I'll still be SOL, stuck replacing drives or even the whole Mac, or going directly to crummy-quality VHS as there is NO OTHER WAY OUT?
    5. After making the system upgrade, would I be ready for more advanced versions of iMovie and iDVD? Are any upgrades free, or does every improvement cost? Do I get them all at the Apple site, order some of them from some supplier or other the way I did with the Mac OSX upgrade, or what?
Thanks for helping to clear up my massive confusion!!!

Wow, thanks. It's good to know iDVD is still an option, even if I don't buy the Superdrive (is that even possible, to get the Combo Drive taken out of my current Mac and a Superdrive put in? There's a question still unanswered.)
(I think this is good to know--because part of my reasoning in asking the question was to eliminate one option or the other, and now I'm ending up with options of options, but hold on for Part 2 as I do have some questions concerning the capabilities of iDVD and Toast.)
Partly answering one of my own questions (although I'd appreciate confirmation from someone who actually knows,) if these Toast 7 requirements mean what I think they do, I don't see anywhere that it says the computer MUST have a Superdrive and CAN'T use an external DVD burner!
    Toast 7 Titanium
    Requirements:
    * PowerPC G4 processor or faster (G5 recommended for viewing DivX files on your Mac)
    * PowerPC G3 processor and Mac OS 10.2 users, see Toast 6 Titanium or Popcorn
    * Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later
    * 300 MB of free disk space to install
    * Up to 15 GB of temporary free disk space during usage
    * QuickTime 7 or later
    * CD or DVD burner and recordable media
If this is true (that I can use an external DVD burner) I like Toast already! My Quicktime Player is only version 6.5.2--is it going to be difficult, expensive, or both, to upgrade that? If it is or the other System Requirements are not met I can just go with Toast 6.
As far as those requirements, I promise you I don't understand a word of it but here is what my System Profiler says my Mac has. Maybe someone can make sense of it and help me decide which version of Toast to get or, if not, what to do:

One thing which may really sway me in favor of Toast is, will it make possible burning 2-hour DVDs? Supposedly iDVD will not enable anything longer than 90 minutes, and when I get to the other big project for which I really want to use the Canopus ADVC 110 converter, that is, converting my home movies from either VHS or 8mm video camera tape to DVD--well, ALL of my tapes are two hours long, because that's the way they come!! I don't see being limited to making 90-minute DVDs as anything but another GIANT PAIN of which I'm already amply supplied! So if Toast will fix this dilemma I'm ALL FOR IT!
As always, thanks for help and advice.

OS - Mac 10.9.3.  I've downloaded both 5.5 and 5.6 to upgrade the installed 5.4.  Both 5.5 and 5.6 give the same error - 'The installer is damaged.  The installer can't open the package.  There may be a problem with the file ownership or permissions."
I'm logged in as the administrator, the file info shows read/write, not locked.  I've rebooted.  Googling, there are no hits with Lightroom and this error message.  I don't want to uninstall 5.4, because it is running, but I need the new version for a new camera.

The ACS 5.6 software runs on a dedicated Cisco SNS-3495 appliance, on a Cisco SNS-3415 appliance, on a Cisco 1121 Secure Access Control System (CSACS-1121) or on a VMware server. ACS 5.6 ships on Cisco SNS-3495 and Cisco SNS-3415 appliances. However, ACS 5.6 continues to support CSACS-1121 appliance. Thanks, Wayne. My organization is in the process of purchasing WebLogic, but we
are still in the free trial period for another week or two.
    I am using:
    WebLogic 7.0 SP2
    Oracle 8.1.7
(tried all 3 versions of classes12.zip)
Driver Class Name in Conn Pools:
    Oracle Thin: "oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"
    Also Tried:
    Oracle Thin/XA: "oracle.jdbc.xa.client.OracleXADataSource"
    Thanks,

Wow, this is heavy duty stuff to be getting free support for!
Let's start with the basics to rule out known problems that have been
    fixed.
Is this the base version or have you installed service packs?
Also, this is not an installation problem; it is getting into EJB and
    TX. Other groups
    like: w.d.i.ejb20; w.d.i.workshop; w.d.i.jdbc -- might be better.
You can also scan discussions in all groups via http://search.beasys.com/weblogic/gonews/
Also try searching at AskBEA -- http://support.bea.com/index.jsp
If these do not help, open a support case so that someone is assigned
    to this.
    Thank you,

  • Upgrade 1120G from an autonomous to a lightweight accesspoint

    Hi!
I have a network consisting of 22 autonomous Aironet 1120G accesspoints. Is it possible to upgarde these to lightweight accesspoints for using with a Cisco WLAN Controller?

    Hi Zach,
    These AP's can be converted to LWAPP. We did this exact conversion last summer on about 30 1121G's with the LWAPP upgrade tool. Support for the 1121 was added in WLC version 4.0.155.0 Have a look at these related docs;

    LWAPP Upgrade Tool Troubleshoot Tips
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_tech_note09186a008072d9a1.shtml

  • Can't upgrade because of nvidia-dkms

    Hey all,
I'm trying to run pacman -Syu, which results in an error I cannot seem to find an answer to.
    The output is as follows:
    # pacman -Syu

However, when I look what version of nvidia-utils I have installed, I get:
    # pacman -Q | grep nvidia-utils
    lib32-nvidia-utils 337.25-2
    nvidia-utils 337.25-3
When I try to reinstall nvidia-utils using yaourt, I get the following:

Does anyone have an idea about what is going wrong?
    Thanks in advance!

Startx still works when not specifying any desktop environment in .xinitrc. If I do that, it doesn't work.

I am using the LTS kernel. I had this same issue on my laptop yesterday. On there, I fixed it by moving to the LTS kernel (at least until a new non-lts kernel comes available).
EDIT: Nevermind. I fixed it by reinstalling nvidia-libgl and lib32-nvidia-libgl. Display Manager now works!

  • Csacs-1121-up-k9

                       Hello,
Is it possible to upgrade the CSACS-1121-UP-K9 to be a non upgrade part?
We were going to upgrade from a Windows 4.x to the above Appliance (version 5.x) but there is now a reason to keep the old Windows version running therefore we cannot give the new Appliance the old ACS's licenses?!
So we should have (with hindsight) bought a fresh version of the ACS 5.x rather than an upgrade.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Garry.

    Garry,
Is there a price difference the upgrade sku and the sku used for a new deployment? There is no difference in the image versions at all, they both have a migration application that will help you migrate the ACS 4.x network devices, internal users and a few various objects that can take a lot of time, it is up to you to use this or not.
    Thanks,
    Tarik Admani

  • Cisco ACS Engine appliance 1120 software upgrade

I want to upgrade my Cisco ACS Engine appliance 1120 from software version 3.3 to the latest version (5.x). How do I go about this? Someone should help please.

It is highly suspicious that you would have a 1120 appliance that is running 3.3
ACS 3.3 was with the ACS solution engine 1111, 1112 and 1113.
ACS 5 requires the appliance 1120/1121 so it requires an appliance change. I'm puzzled about how you could be running 3.3 for 1120 since there is no installation DVD for that.
As a general thing, one has to follow the ACS 5 migration guide on cisco.com that explains the process quite well. You need to go to acs 4.1/4.2 to migrate to 5.

    how cai fix this?

Disconnect power (the power jack for external power or the Ethernet cable for in-line power) from the access point. Press and hold the MODE button while you reconnect power to the access point.Hold the MODE button until the status LED turns red (approximately 20 to 30 seconds), and release the MODE button. Wait until the access point reboots as indicated by all LEDs
turning green followed by the Status LED blinking green. Then reload the imgae using TFTP.

  • IPod no longer works with car stereo since upgraded MBA & iTunes

My iPod classic has worked just fine connected to my car stereo since i bought it last june. I just bought a new Macbook Air (OS 10.7.3) & installed ITUNES 10.6.1. After I synched my ipod for the first time its recognised by the car but i get a "can't read data" message. I re-formatted my ipod but its exactly the same. Do you think its the upgrade- or the cable? Has anyone else found a bug with this version of Itunes or the OS? I have my doubts a cable would make the difference, and my old ipod nano that i haven't synched for a while works fine.

If standalone works fine, then, most likely the 30 pin connect may have some dirt or lint, prevent data transfer.
You can try to blow it clean, if you have a can of compressed air or gas.
Alternatively you can connect it to the car stereo and do the RESET, while connnected.as follows
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs or till the Apple Logo comes ON
    Then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.
Here is the Apple support Article on the 5Rs
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/classic/
The Reset sequence may send a signal to the Car stereo to do the right thing

  • Brand new IPOD Touch Apps no longer work after upgrading software

I got a Ipod touch for my wife Today at Wal-Mart. I brought it home, connected to wifi and downloaded some apps and also payed for some. They all worked fine. Then I connected to computer to transfer songs. It told me to upgrade the Ipod software so i Did. After it restarted none of the downloaded apps work anymore. I have read MANY MANY MANY discussions on this and there is no fix. I am not wiping out all the songs and reload everything all over again. It will take forever. My wifes BD is Friday and this is making me so mad after I just dropped $300 on this thing. APPLE!!! Where is the fix? I deleted the apps and reinstalled they still don't work. Anybody got this figured out? I am getting ready to get my money back and tell everyone to avoid buying ipod until they get this upgrade bug fixed.
Message was edited by: 2009 IPOD TOUCH

I have the same problem. Brand new two days ago. I synched the touch with Itunes but wasn't hooked up to the internet at the time so didn't do the software upgrade right away. Then I downloaded about a dozen apps (free and paid) with wifi directly to the touch. They all worked fine. Then I plugged it back in to Itunes and had it upgrade it to 3.1.2. It locked up Itunes several times since then and the downloaded apps no longer work (they start to open then disappear).
The problem is, no one is listening to this problem (including Anna above)! Everyone says "just do a hard reboot, or restore to factory settings, reload the apps, etc." I've tried all the standard troubleshooting but none of it fixes this. It sure seems to me this is a problem with 3.1.2 but Apple isn't helping out here. Where are you APPLE? Use some of those outrageous profits you're making to fix the problem you have created. Here's $300 of my hard earned dollars pretty much down the drain.
