Upgrade Aperture

I have installed Aperture 3.1.1 on mij Imac and when I want to upgrade to 3.1.2 there's a message: Aperture 3.0 is required to install this update. Does someone knows how to handle???

That generally happens if you rename the Aperture program or if you move it from your Applications directory.  Look in your Applications directory and make sure that Aperture is called "Aperture" and not something like "Aperture 3.0".

I try to upgrade Aperture 3.4.5 through software update, but I get an error message that says "We could not complete your update. Failed to verify the preflight file. It is not signed by Apple." I bought the software as a boxed DVD with licence no. Any solution to this problem?

  • Cannot upgrade aperture from 3.0 to 3.1.3

I cannot upgrade aperture from 3.0 to 3.1.3. The 3.0 was initially purchased as a download from the old Apple Store. Now it does not seem to recognise this version when I want to upgrade: "this upgrade requires Aperture 3"... which is ecactly what I have (and purchased!).

    OK, got it solved:

The Aperture file you are upgrading must be in the root Applications folder AND the file must be named (exactly) "Aperture" (no quotes). If you've renamed your Aperture file to "Aperture 3" or something like that, the update will fail. Mark

  • Endless loop with pop-up window to upgrade Aperture

I have been using iPhoto and it keep updated.  Using v.9.4.2.  MaxOS is current v.10.7.5.  I have tried Aperture but not really used it and don't keep it updated.  It is v.2.1.4.  Recently I chose a pull-down setting in iPhoto to open photos in Aperture library (or somehting like that, I don't remember, I was just fumbling around).  I got a pop-up window stating:
"Aperture library needs to be upgraded.
To open this Aperture library in iPhoto, you need Aperture 3.3 or later.
Click Update Aperture to buy the latest version of Aperture from the Mac App Store.
After installing the update, open your library in Aperture to upgrade it."
The only options on this pop-up window are "Quit" or "Update Aperture".
If I choose "QUIT", iPhoto closes and I can't open the photos in my iPhoto library.
If I choose "Upgrade Aperture" I am re-directed to the APP Store where I can purchase Aperture for $79.99.
I didn't intend to open Aperture and I don't want to upgrade Aperture, either.
I only want to open iPhoto without the Aperture library.
I can't figure out a way to get me back to opening my photos in iPhoto without this pop-up window.
I thought there would be an iPhoto or Aperture preference file ending with ".plist" in iMacHD \ Library \ Preferences.  If so, I would delete it and then try to re-launce the iPhoto application.  I only found one relating to Aperture.  I deleted it and tried re-launching iPhoto and still get the pop-up window asking to upgrade Aperture.
I would like to remove Aperture and use only iPhoto, if I can.

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

  • IPhoto won't open and is asking me to upgrade Aperture (for $80). I've never purchased or used Aperture. How to I get around this?

iPhoto won't open and is asking me to upgrade Aperture (for $80). I have never purchased or used Aperture. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can get past this so that I can just use iPhoto?

  • TS2518 I have Aperture 3.1.2 running on os 10.6.8. Aperture does not show focus points on my Nikon D7100, nor does it recognize the RAW files. Will upgrading Aperture allow me to see the focus points and RAW files again? Also, do I need to upgrade my os f

I have aperture 3.1.2 running on os 10.6.8 mac book pro. Lost some features in aperature when I upgraded my camera (no longer shows focus points, does not recognize RAW files) Would like to upgrade to aperture 3.5, but do not want to loose any pictures in my extensive library. Do I have to upgrade one vesion at a time, or can I jump? I believe I also need to upgrade my os, but not sure which to do first?  Any help would be appreciated...

    1. Can I get Icloud without having to upgrade to OS Lion?
    Nope, you need 10.7.
    2. If I upgrade to OS Lion, does this automatically put me onto ICloud
No, you set that up yourself.
    3. I have three mobile me email addresses. One for myself, one for my wife and one I use for my business. What happens to these.
You can convert them to be used in iCloud.
    4. My wife and I also use mobile me to sync our calendars across an Ipad (original) and two Iphones (3Gs). Both Iphones and Ipad are still currently using IOS4, and I am reluctant to upgrade this to IOS 5 as I have heard some horror stories. If I fail to upgrade to IOS 5, will this create confusion with my Apple ID's. (There already is a lot of confusion with these- Apple appear to not have down their homework)
If you don't change the settings you have now, I'm sure it will stay working.  I believe Apple is phasing out MobileMe and you'd be forced to upgrade eventually.
    5. Will Icloud allow me to transfer my Icalendar across seamlessly? This is Ical 4.04 whic came with my Imac. Does this get upgraded if I update to Lion?
Yes, it will get upgraded.  I have my calendar on Lion and my iPhone 5.0.1 working seamlessly at the moment.  That doesn't mean you won't have problems because with new technology that can be expected.  Make sure you do a back up if you're worried about losing data.

  • I've just upgraded Aperture and seem to have lost all the folders and albums. How can I retrieve them?

When I opened Aperture a dialogue box appeared suggesting I upgrade. The upgrade was done, and now all the folders and albums previously in Aperture have disappeared. How can I retrieve them?

. The upgrade was done, and now all the folders and albums previously in Aperture have disappeared. How can I retrieve them?
When you opened your new Version of Aperture you probably created a new, empty  Aperture Library.
Do you remember where your original Aperture Library is located? Usually it resides in your "Pictures" folder, and is named something.aplibrary. If you do not remember where it is, search with Spotlight for ".aplibrary".
Quit Aperture, if it is running, then select your old Aperture Library and double click it to open it. This will launch Aperture on your correct library, and you should see all your projects and albums again.

  • I can't import photos from iphone4 to Aperture after Yosemite upgrade, aperture is up to date

Aperture stopped recognizing my IPhone4 when I try to import photos.  This happened after I upgraded to Yosemite.  My phone does show up in ITunes, and I have tried unlocking phone and shutting it off/on.  My Aperture is up to date.

I went to Yosemite help page, and found an answer to another problem I was having after OS X upgrade.  I was seeing duplicate iMacs under devices (I was checking to see if my phone showed up which it didn't).    The fix for that problem took care of the problem I was having with the iPhone import into Aperture.
This leads me to believe the problem was due to the upgrade and some bugs that are still there.   Now it's working fine.
    Thank again for you help.

  • Get old Aperture library into iPhoto without need to upgrade Aperture first?

I've my photo libraries in an old Aperture format. I didn't upgrade to Aperture 3, because I didn't get a new Mac until recently. Now with Yosemite my old Aperture app can't be installed anymore (neither old iPhoto). So I've not an old Aperture library file which I'd like to import into the new iPhoto, but I get the dialog that I've to upgrade to Aperture 3 first.
Do I really have to purchase a $80 upgrade to get my pictures out of an old version of Aperture? I'd upgrade to Aperture 3 and continue using it if it wasn't already announced to be discontinued soon. But what to do until the new Photo.app is available some time in 2015, plus who knows whether the announced "will be able to import Aperture libraries" isn't also limited to Aperture 3+ versions?
You see my pickle?! I can't run old Aperture on Yosemite, I can't import my old Aperture library into the new iPhoto and Photo.app isn't available yet. What to do?
The option to run an old OS X via VMWare, import Aperture to old iPhoto and then upgrade to new iPhoto also seems a bit much work.
What I am looking for would essentially be a "Import Aperture 2 library into (new) iPhoto" script/tool/converter.
    Thanks,
    -H

    Crrect - as I said
you can get the original photos out by copying the masters folder and importing to iPhoto
And yes there is no good solution for switching from a outdated software package to a different up to date one - Aperture or pretty much any other software - iPhoto will update all old iPhoto libraries and Aperture will update all old Aperture libraries but iPhoto will not update old Apertue libraries nor will Aperture update old iPhoto libraries

  • Error when upgrading Aperture library on an external drive

I have a MacBook Pro and am in the process of upgrading to Aperture 3. When Aperture wants to upgrade the existing Aperture library, it fails saying that there is insufficient memory. (My hard drive is very full). I have copied the Aperture library across to a WD external drive and have held down "Option" key when launching Aperture 3 so that I could select the library on the external drive as the preferred library. That went ok. Then when Aperture 3 was some way through upgrading the library on the external drive, it suddenly stopped and gave me this message.
"There was an error creating a library at the path “/Volumes/External Drive/Aperture Library.aplibrary”. The library could not be created because the file system of the destination volume is unsupported."
The library also seems to have disappeared off the external drive.
Any ideas on what I did wrong?

    Hi Paul DT;
In addition to the suggestions that Allen gave you I would also suggest that once you increase the free space on your internal disk drive that you reboot with install DVD and repair the disk using Disk Utility.
When you run the free space down that can greatly increase the chances of corrupting the directory on that disk. If you have any corruption in the directory that cause all kinds of strange problems for you until you repair it.

  • Help! I just tried to upgrade Aperture to v3.2 and it failed

I'm not sure which sub-version of Aperture 3 I was running. I believe it was the version previous to 3.2. I wanted to set up my photo stream for iCloud which informed me I needed to update Apreture or iPhoto. I went into the Mac App Store and downloded the update. When it said it was installed, I went to launch Apreture 3.2. It prompted me informing me that I needed to upgrade my library and informed me that my library would become incompatable with previous versions of Aperture. I agreed and was immediatly greeted with the following error
    Warning
"There was an error opening the database for the library “/Volumes/Library/Aperture 3 Library.aplibrary”.
Now each subsequent attempt to launch Aperture generates the same error. Please tell me I haven't lost all of my photos.
    Thanks for any help!
    Caleb

    This fixed my problem:

I had to do the full rebuild rather than the repair, but it seems to be good now.

  • Upgrading Aperture to 3.6 for Yosemite.

I am on a late 2012 Macbook Pro and do all my photo work on it. I am very happy with Aperture 3.51. I would like to finally upgrade to Yosemite from Mavericks. I have held off due to the wifi and boot camp problems I have read about. Now with the latest realeas of Yosemite I would like to upgrade to stay current. Apple has taken Aperture of the App store and I can't find anywhere else I can get the update to Aperture 3.6. I am totally happy with aperture and if I need more I use photoshop. I have an extensive library of aperture files as I have been using it from day one. I do not want to or need to migrate to lightroom or any other App. If Aperture 3.6 was released for us people who want to continue to use it, why is it no longer available. I have never been so disappointed in Apple. I don'e want to use Photos and I don't want to loose adjustments to thousands of photos or spend the time to change them all to tiffs.
Is there anyway I can still get the update? I would have downloaded the update earlier but being incompatible with Mavericks it the App store wouldn't let me download it for future use. Please help if you can.
    Harry Bergeest

Did you ever buy or update Aperture from the App Store?  If you never did (if you only ever installed from CDs), then you may have trouble finding it in the App Store.  I think there are a few threads in this site which work around that issue.
I was able to download Aperture from the App Store with my 10.10.2 system, but it wouldn't run until I upgraded to 10.10.3.  I may suggest cloning your hard drive, then upgrading to Yosemite 10.10.3 and trying Aperture 3.6.  If for some reason it doesn't work out for you or you can't get it from the App Store, wipe the drive and restore your Mavericks system from the clone.
But don't rush into it, because downloads from the App Store are still verrrrrry slow.  It took me several days on a 50mbps connection to download 10.10.3

  • Can't upgrade Aperture 3.2.4 in Maverick - lost serial number

I have the 3.2.4 version of Aperture which was running perfectly until I installed maverick. Now there is a NO sign on the Aperture icon and if I try and udate the software from the main menu it doesn't work. I don't have the serial number - I probably left everything behind when moving to another country. Also, if I go to the apple store I can only purchase the new version, there is no update option.
Is there any way I can overcome this problem?
    Cheers

Try, if downloading the version 3.4.5 update from the support page will work. If you did not make a clean install and wiped your drive, when you upgraded to Mavericks, Aperture should still remember the serial number.
    Download the upgrade here:
    Aperture 3.4.5
Don't upgrade without making a backup of your Aperture library, before you try this. The upgrade will have to rebuild your Aperture library and to convert a to a different format.
If you can get Aperture 3.4.5 to run, look at the "About" panel: From the Main Menu Bar: Aperture > About Aperture.
Write down your serial number you see there for safe keeping.
Then try, if you now can update to version 3.5 -

  • Problem upgrading Aperture 2 to 3

I have been using Aperture since version 1. Today I downloaded Aperture 3 from the app store. That changed Aperture to version 3 in my Applications folder. I opened Aperture and it had me chose to update my Aperture Library. It kept my original (version 2) library and made a totally new library which is a little bigger than the old one. During the processing Time Machine activated and I presume tried to copy the new Library but aborted because of lack of disc space. I also got an Aperture error message that it had to correct something and I had it procede. I shut off Time Machine and Aperture 3 eventually opened.
Help, all the images seem to be there but all my projects, folders and most ratings are gone. I now have a massive unorganized Library which is of course a disaster involving years of work.

    Thanks Tony.
I ended up restarting my computer, turned off Time Machine and then reopened Aperture. It asked if I wanted to upgrade my library and I clicked yes. It then updated my library for a few hours. All my projects, folders, etc appear to have returned intact.
I think Apple ought to recommend turning off Time Machine and energy saver when upgrading a large library.
One problem that I have now noticed is that a number of images I adjusted in earlier versions are now way off. These are images I did RAW adjustments to in Aperture. At the top of the Adjustments tab it says: "This photo was adjusted using an earlier version of Apple's RAW processing". There is a button there that says "Reprocess". When I click that it doesn't solve the problem.
Versions of the same images I edited in Photoshop and have the little photoshop icon look fine. Aperture 3 appears to have run the contrast slider up all the way so the images now look terrible. So it seems the problem is in Aperture 3's updating of my Aperture RAW adjustments. But it's not all of them. Some images look fine.
I hope I don't have to go back and correct them all. Am I missing something?

  • Cannot upgrade aperture 3.1 to the latest 3.2.1

When I try the upgrade it syas I must have 3.0 to upgrade, then closes.
any suggestions to get the upgrade to work??

I read the post you metioned and no I still cannot update my version 3.1 of aperture.  It never comes up in system upater .  I have tried rebuilding desktop, tried upgrading 3.1.1 no help.  I have two peripherals that I disabled no help.
The problem I'm sure is it does not see aperture in the applications folder.  System profiler sees it?
I had this same issue with adobe reader but it clued me with it was looking at the wrong drive, thats why I disabled the backup drives I have.
I have never updated apertur since I bought it.  It's been loaded for over a year?
Any clues or other ways, I would appreciate the assistance.
