Back-up of databases
BizTalk application.
Backup the binding, parties, policies, vocabularies.
BTSNTSVC.config file.
Backup the Enterprise Single Sign-On secret
This would help you if in case of any rollback
When run the installation package for
Enterprise edition, the install will detect
the exiting version and guide you to upgrade. The install will also ensure the
installed BizTalk application is not be affected.
Use the back-ups if anything goes wrong.

  • Upgrade Oracle 9i Standard Edition

    Hi,
I have a requirement to migrate my Oracle 9i Standard Edition to Oracle 9i Enterprise Edition on Windows 2000 and on Linux
What is the best way for me to do this?
1.I was thinking of taking exports of all the user tablespaces.
2.De-installing oracle standard edition from the machines that have to be migrated.
    3. Install Oracle 9i Enterprise Edition.
    4. Import the user tablespaces again.
The amount of data that is to be exported and reimported is about 100 MB. very small amount.
I was wondering if there is a better way to do the migration- perhaps run a migration wizard (but the universal installer did not contain any such thing)
Would the steps that I have outlined work? Or are there any gotchas that I need to look out for?
Many thanks for any posts in this regard.

    Hi,
Hi, Is there any cost involved to upgrade Oracle 9i standard edition to 11g? The license was purchased in 2004.
As updated by Jim you need pay all these missed years  since 2004.
I recommend you to take new license for 11g that will save huge amount.

  • Lync 2013 Standard Edition on Cisco UCS E-Series

    Hello,
We have a working Lync 2013 deployment:
    - Front-End Enterprise Pool consisting of 3 FE servers
    - one Edge Server
    - one Back-End server
    - one Mediation Server
    - one IP PBX gateway, where ITSP's SIP trunks end.
Because we have geographically distributed offices, we are considering deploying of branch offices deployments.
Technet recommends to use SBA for branch offices where there are less than 1000 users. But in case of WAN outage, no conferencing will be available for branch users.
Lync 2013 Standard edition branch deployment would offer all Lync features in case of WAN outage.
In every branch, we consider deploying a Cisco ISR G2 router for terminating branch SIP trunks. This equipment have option to add Cisco UCS E-Series blade that supports CPU with hardware virtualization and supports decent amount of RAM (up to 16GB and up
    to 48GB).
Have anyone experience with deploying Lync Standard Edition on this equipment - Cisco UCS E-Series blades? In every branch office there are up to 50 - 500 users that will use Lync.
    Thanks,
    Andrei Moraru Endava

    Hi,
I don’t think you can deploy Lync server 2013 on Cisco UCS E-Series blades.
Here is a link below of “System Requirements for Servers Running Lync Server 2013” may help you:

  • Lync 2013 standard edition server disadvantages

I have 3000 users, client is so cost effective , wanna insisting on Lync 2013 standard edition server. no enterprise voice
Feature required :- IM.presence, A/V conf, persistence chat, external access.
planned servers :- 1 Standard server in DC, 1 in DR.  1 edge server in DC and 1 in DR
    1. if i make a pool of standard servers, then will it serve as HA, if yes how much time wil take for failover and what would be the impact on users?
    2. If complete DC is down how mch time would take for fail-over and what is the procedure, impact on users?
    3. can i collocate persistence chat role on standard edition? any limitation? how backend sizing would be for persistence chat as sql express would be there
    4. can i suggest any better solution with standard servers where HA in DC .

For 3000 users Standard Edition will be fine. Use the capacity planner to size out your environment. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36828
    1. It won't really serve as HA, as pool pairing is the only option it's more of a DR solution. The RTO for a pool failover is 30mins. So it could take anywhere up to 30mins. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj205079.aspx
    2. Same as above. Here is how you failover http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj204678.aspx
    3. Yes, you can co-locate Persistent Chat on the Front End with Standard Edition. If sized correctly, there should be no performance issues.
    4. The only option with Standard is Pool Pairing, so no better suggestions.

  • Certificate Requirement for Lync 2013 Standard Edition

I have successfully run the setup of lync 2013 standard edition now I am stuck due to certificates required for lync 2013. when I generate a csr. it show the subjected urls for that.
    hostname.domain.com
    sip.domain.com
    diali.domain.com
    meet.domain.com
    admin.domain.com
    lyncdiscover.domain.com
    lyncdiscoverinternal.domain.com
    im.domain.com (External URL)
so if I go for 3 party CA then I need 8 certicate only for internal lync. As I also need to connected federated partner and external user so I need Edge for again I need 3 more certificates
    web.domain.com
    a/v.domain.com
    sip.domain.com
now when I go for these certificate it quit costly and I didn't understand why such certifcates required. can anyone help me to fix such requirement.
Or, what are the necessary url to which I buy 3 party CA rest leave as it is.
I also want to deploy Edge with single adopter as we have only one network so can anyone assist me to proceed it further.
    Talha Faraz Malik

To save on the cost of your third party certificates, I would deploy an internal certificate authority to sign certificates for your internal front end.   For your third party certificate, you would only need the SANs for the edge and for your
reverse proxy and as Edwin said, this can be a single cert with multiple SANs.
For example, for your edge you would need:
    sip.domain.com
    web.domain.com
You would not need A/V as this role does not require a SAN on your certificate.  On the same certificate, which you could also use on your reverse proxy, you'd likely want the following FQDNs.
    lyncdiscover.domain.com
im.domain.com (your external web services FQDN)
    meet.domain.com
    dialin.domain.com
You may also want to consider your internal web services FQDN and include the following so third party mobile devices can connect without needing a certificate installed:
im_internal.domain.com (your internal web services FQDN)
    lyncdiscoverinternal.domain.com
I'm sure that's not entirely clear yet, so feel free to ask more questions or what the purpose of each is.
When you say Edge with a single adapter, you mean a single adapter in a DMZ or internal?  You definably want two NICS, both in separate DMZs, but I've managed to get the edge working with a single adapter in a DMZ before.  What you don't want is
the edge in your internal network.

  • Lync 2013- Standard Edition - Persistent Chat

What is the capacity of the Persistent Chat if it is collocated on Lync 2013 Standard edition front end ?
ie, number of chat rooms /usage?
In a Lync 2013 standard edition deployment if Persistent Chat is on separate server, can the SQL be offloaded to central SQL cluster enviornment or  it will be held on the local server?

I haven't seen a chart that really defines the capacity, and it's difficult to measure because it's difficult to say how active the rooms will be or how much content you'll generate.  That much is different from organization to organization.
There are some guidelines in general here:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg615006(v=ocs.15).aspx but they don't really touch the standard model.
The pChat database can be offloaded to a central SQL cluster if you'd prefer, there are no requirements to collocate it with the local Lync databases.

  • HLB for Lync Server 2013 Standard Edition

    Hi Guys,
I am planning to add an additional new Lync Central site with paired Lync Server 2013 standard edition in Primary and DR data centers. with 1 or 2 OWAS Servers in each DCs. No Edge
server in this new Lync central site as we already have an Edge pool in another central site for federation. Only IM & P and Conferencing, no External Access, Mobility and EV.
My question is, for LS2013 Standard edition paired pools in the new Lync Central site. should I use HLB or DNS LB should be ok? as technically we do not have any HA here only DR.
Any advantage using HLB over DNS LB in LS2013 Standard edition?
    Thanks for your help.
    Cheer....

You typically wouldn't need HLB with standard edition at all.  What were you planning to accomplish?

    Thank you

    > We want to upgrade our windows version to Enterprise 2008 64 Bit.

There are ways of doing in-place upgrades (see Note 1494740 - SAP system migration from Windows 2003 to 2008 (R2) 64-bit) but since the hardware drivers changed from 2003 to 2008 you may have a hard time getting the system back up after you do an in-place upgrade.
I would do a homogeneous system copy, that's the safest way.

  • BizTalk 2013R2 Developer Edition from Gallery - SQL Expired!!

I an a MSDN ultimate subscription holder and I have created a virtual machines within Azure from the Gallery.  I have select the BizTalk 2013R2 Developer Edition from the gallery which has initially been great and save me a lot of time with
the setup.  Unfortunately after only a couple of weeks my SQL license has expired.
As I did not select any form of evaluation edition I would not expect software licenses to expire when they are provisioned from the gallery whenever.  As I understand it as an MSDN ultimate customer I am covered to license BizTalk Developer Edition
and indeed SQL which come as part of the gallery VM.
I've seen a number of posts online around this with no solution and I was wondering if you have a view on this.
Have I picked up the wrong understanding or is their a defect with the BizTalk 2013R2 Developer edition gallery image.  A colleague recently reported the same thing happened with BizTalk 2013R2 standard edition image.
Any help and advice would be appreciate as I am stuck if SQL has expired.  I don't see the point in provisioning a new gallery image if the same problem will happen.
It is very convenient provisioning from the gallery but if the licenses expire then they become less useful and very annoying.  I could understand if I provisioned an evaluation copy but this was not the case here.
    Cheers
    Stephen

I have had no timely response from Microsoft on this yet, despite trying my best to seek assistance from them to help fix their defect.
Anyway I did a fresh search online and came accross this which has worked for me
    https://www.phidiax.com/blog/post/Azure-Gallery-Image-for-BizTalk-Server-SQL-Server-evaluation-period-has-expired
If you have access to a valid copy of SQL Server 2014 Developer Edition then you can perform an Edition Upgrade and go from SQL 2014 Enterprise Evaluation Edition to SQL 2014 Developer Edition.  Once I did this and restarted SQL Services I was
    back up and running.
I suspect Microsoft will need to do this with the base gallery image and then re-load it whenever they can be bothered getting around to it OR whenever a customer with an Azure technical support contract raises it!  No pay, no technical support outside
    this forum.
I have not tried again to fire up a new 2013R2 Developer Edition image from the gallery to see if this is fixed yet.
Hopefully this helps anyone in the same boat as me.  If you do not have access to SQL Server 2014 Developer Edition (via say msdn subscription) to perform this upgrade then I'm afraid you will still have difficulty resolving this.

  • Content Deployment Sharepoint 2013 Standard or enterprise

    Hi,
Is content deployment feature(from one farm to another) a part of Sharepoint 2013 standard edition or enterprise edition?
    Thanks

Not sure about content deployment source but cross site publishing is only available in SharePoint 2013 Enterprise edition, i suggest you to go for enterprise edition for safe side.

  • Is it possible to have two Paired Lync Standard Edition servers in different domains?

We initially installed Lync in a parent domain with all the users in the child domain. The user's SIP addresses is that of the child domain. We now have a requirement to migrate the server to the same child domain as the users. At the same time we
need to set-up a new server to test some planned network changes. Would it be possible to set-up another Standard Edition Front End Server in the child domain and pair it with the server in the primary domain? We can then migrate the users across as required.

    Hi PanosE,
Yes, you can set up another Standard Edition Server in child domain and then deploy pool pairing.
You need to deploy a new Front End Pool for the new Standard Edition Server.
A similar case for your reference.

  • Biztalk 2013 R2 ESB toolkit support and Licence issues

    Hi,
Currently we are using Biztalk 2013 R2 standard version and have not installed/configured ESB toolkit yet. Now i am exploring the options to use the ESB toolkit as it is pretty good for the exception management and it comes with nice portal as well.I have
used the ESB in the past with Biztalk 2010 so i have a favor for the toolkit.
But one of our consultant said that the ESB toolkit is not supported by Microsoft for the standard version and it is supported only with enterprise version of Biztalk. He also mentioned that once we configure ESB with standard version Microsoft does not
support ESB and also the entire Biztalk server So i am afraid of that and thought of validating the information with right people.
Can someone please answer the below questions for me?
Can we use ESB toolkit with Biztalk standard version? If so how about support from Microsoft? Does Microsoft support at least production server OR not?
Do we need enterprise version only for this?
I used ESB with Biztalk 2010 in the past and though there are minor issues i personally like it . But what are your thoughts of using ESB?
Here are the technologies we are using
Biztalk 2013 R2, Visual studio 2013 and SQL server 2014. Just to mention Visual studio is not available in test and production servers.
    Thanks
    JB

    Hi,
Why you want to use BizTalk Standard Edition in Production Environment?
BTS Standard only run on a single BizTalk server with a maximum of two CPUs, maximum of five "BizTalk Applications",
However, Enterprise does not have such limitations
Yes, it is not supported and it has not been extensively tested by Microsoft on Standard Edition, but it doesn't mean you can’t
    install it.
    From BizTalk
Server: ESB Survival Guide has this requirement:
    BizTalk Server 2010 Enterprise/Developer Edition
    Understanding is:
ESB toolklit uses one of the five applications that can be deployed on BizTalk 2010 Standard Edition
ESB toolkit will work on BizTalk 2010 Standard Edition, but it's not supported
Requirements for ESB 2.2 with BizTalk 2013 is not specified as such, but I suspect the same limitation applies.
    Refer: BizTalk
ESB Toolkit 2.1 on BizTalk Standard Edition environment , does it work ?

  • Project 2013 Standard Licensing Transfer

I currently have 4 "1-pc" licenses for Microsoft Project 2013 Standard edition. I am curious before I deploy these licenses that if I install the program. Let's say 3 months down the road a computer decides it hates life and just dies whether
it be a motherboard or hard drive failure, would I be able to transfer the license over to a new PC or would I have to purchase a new one?
P.S. I have looked into the licensing agreement it says that some programs might not honor the universal licensing terms, but never specified what programs it doesn't honor. So I'm trying to figure out if Project is one or not.

    Hi,
You will be able to transfer Project 2013 on another computer using the same product key. When you'll
activate it is possible that it will say that the key had already been acivated. You may have to call MS an activate manually.
Note that Office 2013 Products are transferable:

  • Lync 2013 Standard backup questions

    Hello
I need to backup our Lync 2013 Standard Edition setup.
We have Only one server atm.
Looking at this post for inspiration:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/heyscriptingguy/archive/2014/06/28/weekend-scripter-basic-lync-server-2013-backup-and-restore-part-1.aspx
As far as i can understand, i don't need to do SQL backup at all? Or am i missing the point?
Would I be able to restore my Lync from these 3 commands:
    Export-CSConfiguratiom, Export-CSLisConfiguration and Export-CsUserData - Is that enough for a disasterrecovery?
    And a bonus question:
When i run Export-CSLisConfiguration . The export only contains the following:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <LisDatabase xmlns="urn:schema:Microsoft.Rtc.Lis.Database.2008"/>
    Is that not incomplete somehow?

That much would get you back up and running, yes.  But it may not be a "full" restore.
For example, if you have persistent chat data, it wouldn't necessarily be included in there.  If you have an archiving database where all IMs are sent, that information wouldn't be in the PowerShell exports above.  If you don't have a copy of the
certificate and private key, that's lost.
Typically, I run my own custom version of Lasse's backup script https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Backup-script-for-Lync-2013-aacbb9b9
That pulls all the data, including your file stores, SQL exports, certificates, and everything into a single folder and zips it for you.  If you back those zips up, you'll have most everything.
Restoring directly back into SQL isn't the recommended method, if you did need to get back up you'd want to follow standard restore procedures by using the supported PowerShell, but you'll have other avenues to restore if needed and a more complete copy
    of your data.
The LIS export may be complete if you don't have any Lync locations defined.  You'd typically enter these for 911 purposes.
Check out Lasse's Channel 9 video as well:

  • Using BizTalk Enterprise Edition 2009/2013 with SQL Server Standard Edition vs Enterprise Edition

    Hi All,
I would like to know what are the Drawbacks of using BizTalk Server Enterprise Edition 2009/2013 with SQL Server Standard Edition vs Enterprise Edition.
We are currently using Enterprise Edition.
    1) Are there any adverse performance constraints? Microsoft mentions to use SQL Server Enterprise Edition for "Optimal Performance" but does not expand on the topic.
    2) Any features missing?
    2) Is there a supported way to downgrade SQL Enterprise to Standard for an exisiting BTS Environment?
    Thanks!

    1) SQL Standard is limited to 4 CPU's and 64GB of memory while Enterprise is 8 CPU and 2TB or memory.
    2) The only BizTalk feature dependency on a SQL Enterprise feature is BAM Real-Time Aggrigations which requires Analysis Services RTA.
    3) Yes, but it's not a SQL downgrade really, you would move the BizTalk databases:
