Upgrade BootCamp !

Hello,
I'm using windows xp on a macbook, by boot camp. i downloaded Boot Camp Update 2.1 for Windows XP but i can't run it !
can anyone help me please ?!
it doesn't run !

Yah this a truly silly problem, in order to update BootCamp, you need to be in XP.
Once in XP you right click on bootcamp in the lower right corner, there should be an option to check updates. If you don't see the option there, then you might need to run apple's software update in XP. I forget which one it is.
The updates only gives some minor changes that fixes bugs with certain peripherals. I used to have BootCamp on my Macbook, when I updated BootCamp I ended up having a bunch of problems. So I suggest that if BootCamp works, don't change anything.

  • Upgrade bootcamp to 2.1 without running windows?

I want to install Windows for the first time. I have Windows XP SP3 install disk, but I see I need BC 2.1 to install SP3 and I have just BC 2.0. Do you have any idea how to upgrade bootcamp to 2.1 without running windows, that I can't install without BC 2.1? Thank you.

    You are in a catch-22.
BC 2.1 is suppose to improve device driver support. No harm trying, just backup OS X first, allow for partition size you can live with.
When you have it running, insert Leopard, let it run Apple drivers, and see if BC 2.1 is offered. But given the trouble and reports, 'if it ain't broken' probably applies and wait before doing the update.
I would take a look at WinClone and create a Windows image for restore purposes in OS X, just in case anyway.
Just look at the long threads on BC 2.1 results!

  • Can't Upgrade Bootcamp With Leopard Install Disc

    Hi Everyone,
I just installed Leopard and wanted to upgrade my Bootcamp partition. However, when I start up in Windows and then try to install the new version, all it does is hang at Marvell Ethernet (which is the first driver to be installed). Now, one thing may be the problem--the drive that I am currently using to start my Mac-let's call it Drive 2, is not the same drive that Bootcamp is installed on, which is Drive 1. I wouldn't see how that could be a problem because I'm starting up in Windows, not from the Mac. Anyway, any suggestions? Thanks.

That isn't the original install disc as the one that came with the computer would be Grey in color, a very drab looking disc, however, if that was purchased from Apple and not a copy of another disc with just a label stuck on it, it should work.  However, if the disc were damaged then you would have the same problem you are having.  I would try to see if you can get another disc and try that (If you know someone that might have one).  If that doesn't work, then take it to a Genius Bar and have them look at it, they may be able to help you out.

  • Upgrading bootcamp

I have an older 2.66 macpro with 1.2 Bootcamp drivers
i havent had the need to update them as everything has been fine.
my 2.66 consists of the X1900 a 500gb hdd, AirPort and Blutetooth
i wanted to patch up my windows system but i needed 2.1 drivers prior to getting sp3 so im wondering are there any known issues with upgrading from 1.2 to 2.1?
and would creating a Restore Point be wise? so i can back to that time?
    thanks

    Hi,
the BC 2.1 update requires that the BC 2.0 drivers are already installed.
The BC 2.0 drivers are located on your Leopard OSX DVD.
There is no direct upgrade from 1.2 to 2.1.
Making a restore point is indeed a wise descision. Maybe more than one:
One after the BC 2.0 update; one after the BC 2.1 update.
Another possibility might be doing a backup of your Windows using Winclone http://twocanoes.com/winclone/

  • Upgrading Bootcamp to Win7 From XP

I had been using Bootcamp with XP but recently installed Win 7, which works fine in Parallels. What do I do to get rid of the Bootcamp association with XP (when I go to restart in Windows in Preferences it starts in XP) establishing a connection with Win 7?
Also, since it is trying to start in XP should I delete Win XP and if so, how do I do that?
Finally, I don't know what version of Bootcamp I have and if knowing that is critical, possibly having to do an upgrade, how do I go about doing that?
    Thanks,
    Bill

Remove the partition you created in reverse with Boot Camp Assistant, and remove the Parallels files that are linked to and associated with XP.
You may want to restart from OS X DVD or another drive and run Disk Utility Repair Disk once and insure that most all of the drive is now HFS+.

  • Do I need to reinstall Windows to upgrade Bootcamp on Windows side?

I had bootcamped Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on my mac air. When I had done that, I had Mountain Lion. Now that I have updated my mac side to Mavericks, it came with bootcamp 5.1.5  My question is can I upgrade my bootcamp  4 on the Windows side to 5 without reinstalling Windows and repartioning? Could I maybe just load a flash with the bootcamp 5 files and install on the Windows side?

bootcamp 5 is a zip file with newer windows drivers for the mac hardware
    1
bootcamp is a bootloader which is rarely changed it just choose which os to boot
    2
bootcamp setup program on osx to partition and the likes this is rarely changed
    3
the zip file with the windows drivers on
you can download the zip file from apples site and it's the only thing you need to do anything about
5.1.5621 or 5.1.5640 depending on what mac
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/downloads/
you need make no changes in osx at all
just run the setup.exe from inside the zip inside windows
and if the setup.exe give you problems install the driver exe files manually

Nope, the "Beta" for Tiger expired when Leopard came out, it was only a Demo on Tiger of things to come...

  • Bootcamp 3.1 wont upgrade to 3.2 on iMac 27" 2009 model

    Hi,
I have been using Windows 7 64 bit on my 2009 Model iMac 27 for 2 years with no issues.
Apple software update has often over that time upgraded bootcamp drivers etc on the machine flawlessly.
Recently though, it has wanted to install "Boot Camp Update 3.2" and I have agreed to install it. It downloads and acts as if it is installed, but then when apple software update is ran again, "Boot Camp Update 3.2" is still wanting to be installed.
My machine bascially refuses to install this update.
Anyone else see this and what is the fix? I don't like running on 3.1 still.
    Thanks

After phoning Apple tech support I got some more info, it seems it's the Boot camp upgrade dying as it is being reported in event viewer,
    Event viewer says:
Faulting application name: BCUpdateInstaller.exe, version: 3.1.4.0, time stamp: 0x4cdcac8f
Faulting module name: BCUpdateInstaller.exe, version: 3.1.4.0, time stamp: 0x4cdcac8f

    Report Id: 1ca4fba0-b678-11e0-b072-00264aa254a8
I know it says 3.1.4.0 but I have run the 3.1 to 3.2 update package. The filename of the executable is BootCamp_3.2_64-bit.exe
So it seems to me there is an issue with the software?

  • Do I need to update Bootcamp 3.3 after upgrading from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion?

Do I need to update Bootcamp 3.3 after upgrading directly from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion? If so, what is the recommended version for my machine?
Other pros and cons we should consider? Not sure what is considered best practice.
We have a mid-2011 iMac (12,1) running Win7 64bit. Concerned about firmware updates not being compatible with Bootcamp 3.3. Firmware updates forThunderbolt port were part of post-Mountain Lion updater install. Not sure what other firmware/boot changes might have been applied to support the new recovery partition, for example. Will the 3.3 windows control panel still work safely?
Win7 still boots OK, at least for now. Backup is current.
I'd like to get the entire machine current again. Bootcamp 5.0 didn't want to download (appeared to hang writing to my external drive, which is otherwise fine). Bootcamp 4.1 refused to install on Win7 (claimed it wasn't for my machine, so I aborted. Downloaded from apple support page directly).
I've searched the forums for this specific question - I see plenty of info for upgrading Bootcamp 4 to 5, but nothing for 3 to 5.
    Thanks much in advance,
    -b

    Appreciate the quick response.
There are basically 2 schools of thought here:
    - If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
    - Don't fall off the upgrade cycle (apply patches whether you have an issue or not in order to ward off trouble before it happens).
I don't have a specific issue that I'm chasing on the Win7 side right now. I'm attempting to address having fallen off the upgrade cycle by staying on Snow Leopard too long.
I appreciate that the Win7 side under bootcamp is its own thing (upgrades to Mac OS don't cross over or effect the bootcamp partition) - except where firmware upgrades coming out of Mountain Lion change the hardware interface to Win7. Hence my questions.

  • What does upgrading to Mavericks due to my BootCamp partition?

I'm still running my OSX 10.6 that was upgraded to 10.8, but i haven't downloaded and installed 10.9 yet.  If I install Mavericks, will that make any changes to BootCamp or should that still function the same after the upgrade?  Right now my laptop boots to the Windows partition by default.  Do i have to upgrade bootcamp after?

From what has happened to me and it seems quite a few people is that your windows/bootcamp drive will either just not allow you to boot to it.  Or at worst you wont even be able to see it as an option when you hold down "alt" at startup.
In other words, Maverick really screws with the bootcamp partition.

  • Upgrading to Bootcamp 4 (lion and Win7 64bits)

Hey there folks! So much time without asking something ^^
I'm wondering if it's possible to upgrade Bootcamp onto a Windows Partition without having to re-install Windows. As far as I have red in the Bootcamp Appple Support webpage, upgrading to Bootcamp 4 requires a clean install of Windows 7, but I don't want to go through that time taking process. Any of you have been upgraded to Bootcamp 4 over an existing Windows 7 installation without doing a clean install of Windows?
    Thanks for the help, guys!
    Ø3

No need for a clean install.
Use the BootCamp Assistant in OSX Lion to download the "Windows Support Software" (aka BootCamp Drivers version 4.x).
I prefer to use an USB-Stick for the download and save.
Boot into Windows, uninstall the previous BootCamp Drivers first then connect the USB-Stick and run the Setup.exe
It is best to either have a backup of your Windows before updating, but at minimum have/make a System Restore Point before.

  • Cannot delete file on win7 after upgrading to Lion

After upgrading Lion OS X, I can not delete file on Lion partition from win 7. It always says "This file is too large...".
Also, My 2 HFS partition will not show on win 7. How to solve it?
I did upgrade BootCamp to 3.3

What your going to need to do is c boot and install OS X (10.6) from the disk, onto a blank external drive (format the drive first in Disk Utility: GUID OS X Extended (J))
Once 10.6 is installed, hold the option key and boot from the 10.6 external drive, go through setup with your same user name, and Software Update to 10.6.8
Then download and install DataRescue  ($99) onto the external 10.6 drive and attach another blank external GUID OS X extended formatted drive and run DataRescue to recover your files to that drive. There will be a lot.
Data Rescue will read the 1's and 0's of the files themselves regardless of what your partition map says, before they are overwritten.
After that's done, access the second external drive and pick though the files to recover.
Once you have gotten all your data, you need to install all your third party programs on the external drive from original sources and update. Then move your files you've recovered to it.
Once that' is all done, erase one drive and download Winclone, and clone the Bootcamp Windows to the empty drive.
Then use Disk Utility to Erase with Zero the entire internal drive of all partitions and everything. (select the drive makers name and size on the far left) Format GUID OS x Extended Journaled like always.
Use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the 10.6.8 external drive to the internal drive, disconnect the external drive and boot from the internal drive and then install Lion on the internal drive. You can hold option key, click on Purchases to download Lion again.
Use Bootcamp to set up Windows partition, then follow Winclones directions to clone Windows back into the Bootcamp partition.

  • Installing Windows 7 using Bootcamp?

I got a Macbook Alumimum 13.3", release in late 2008. It's now installed with Snow Leporand 10.6.2 OS. I'd like to know if bootcamp support installing Windows 7 as well?

The link is useful and informative, thanks.
But I have another issue need to be solved.
Are bootcamp under Windows envirnoment, and bootcamp assistant under Mac OS the same software? Since my bootcamp assistant version is 3.0.x something, but my bootcamp is just version 2.1
Another problem i encountered is that when I tried to install bootcamp version 3.1 under windows, it says i need version 3.0. But I even have problem upgrading bootcamp from V2.1 to V2.2 using Apple Software Update. It downloaded bootcamp V2.2 without problem, but when it tries to install it, seems no problem. Then when I check the version, it's still V2.1 I've done at least a couple of times, same thing happened. Can anyone lend a hand to me?

  • HT5634 iMac (Late 2006 20") with IOS Lion installed Windows 8 via BootCamp4, Then Upgrade to 8.1 Pro. Worked with warning message until today. How do I get out of Windows 8.1 to get back to IOS Lion.

Until today I was able to ignore the compatability issues warning (I know bad idea to ignore warnings) and move between IOS Lion and Windows 8.1 Pro partitions on my 20" iMac (Late 2006) with Intel processor. After restarting Windows and spending 1/2 hour waiting for it to update (after installing Office 365) Window works fine, but when I activiate BootCamp (from Windows) nothing happens. It opens and gives me the warning with the option to run the program anyway (like always) but it the program never starts. It stays in Windows. How do I get back to IOS 7 Lion so I can upgrade BootCamp 4 to BootCamp 5 which I just saw today as the solution...?

Power off your computer. Power up your computer, during power up press and hold the option key. When the boot manager appears select OSx.
