Upgrade certification from 8 to 10g DBA track.

Hi,
I have an oracle certification 8 in DBA track, and I completed my oracle 8 certification in 2001. Now I want it to upgrade from oracle 8 DBA to 10g DBA. I don’t know for what exam I need prepare, or can I upgrade it or not.
Do I need to upgrade my oracle 8 certification to 8i and then 8i to 9i and then 9i to 10g, or just need to give one exam for upgrade the certification 8 to 10g.
Please explain in details.
Thanks for help.

And you thought a question about DBA certification was suitable for a SQL and PL/SQL forum?

  • Syllabus for 10g RAC Exam & 10g DBA Track

    Hi all,
Can anyone please provide me link from where i got Complete Syllabus for Oracle 10g RAC & 10G DBA Track
    Thanks in advance

    Oracle 10g RAC : 1z0-048
    http://syedracdba.wordpress.com/2008/03/22/preparing-for-oracle-10g-rac-expert-exam-1z0-048/
    ACE is recommending the docs.
    10G DBA Track: 1Z0-052 and 1Z0-053 exams
Now, for syllabus, I think you too search by google for something like "1z0-048 syllabus" and "1Z0-052" and/or "1Z0-053 Syllabus"
Be aware, you will get many fake links of saying that "we are providing the exam dumps / pass guarantee". Don't and never believe upon them, simply ignore them.
I think your this question may be transferred to [url https://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=459&start=0]Certification forum by moderator after some time.

  • Need help about certification in oracle 9i DBA track

    Hello there everyone.
I don't know whether this topic I am posting is allowed or not, but I really need some help. I am doing my BSc computer science second year and I have just started studying SQL now. I always wanted to achieve oracle certified certificate. So I am planning to do Oracle 9i DBA track associate level and then professional level. I will be doing it from oracle certified institute.
But as I have just started SQL language now, so I don't have much experience in SQL. So what do you people suggest? Will it matter anyway to wait for some months or do now as I am gonna join that institute and they are gonna teach me all the topic.? Or should I wait for experience?
If anyone of you have given that exam then please say something about your experience. I will be really very helpful.
    Regards,
    Prajit.Nair.

Absolutely! I started with 10g because that is the primary release in use at my employer; although we also have some 9i and some 11g in use. So it made sense for me to start with 10g. But if I was just getting started with Oracle, I would start with 11g. An 11g cert is still valuable to employers using 10g or 9i; in fact they may prefer it since they will not have to pay to upgrade your skills when they do upgrade Oracle.

  • Cleared OCP 10G DBA Track not updated in Certview still after 48hours

    Hi
I have cleared OCP10G DBA on 25 August 2012 but still its not showing in my certview account after 48 hours it will get updated and my test id is same
please somebody clarify on it (I want to download Logo)
Also I am fresher OCP so how to get job in ORACLE ocean because every company asks 3 to 5 yrs exp. and I am having experience from different field almost 6 yrs
what one should add in to resume to get job offers? what one should do to get job in Oracle field as support first and then graduate to DBA job
    I request please guide me
    Thanks & Regards
    TJ

I have cleared OCP10G DBA on 25 August 2012 but still its not showing in my certview account after 48 hours it will get updatedTest results will generally be in Certview within 48 hours, although I'd generally wait 3-5 days before worrying too much about that. Validating the OCP certification is a different prospect from showing a passing test score.
Have you completed the hands-on training required for the 10G OCP? Have you submitted the Hands-on training forms? Has Oracle Education verified those forms? Until all the answer to all three of these questions is yes, you will not be an OCP10G DBA.
...how to get job in ORACLE ocean because every company asks 3 to 5 yrs exp...This is a common enough question here that I wrote an article on it to save my fingers...

  • Best way to upgrade OCP from 8 to 9i to 10g

Got certified awhile back and need to upgrade my certification - been doing Java programming in the interim but now need the OCP for a new job opportunity that pays much more. Any suggestions on getting certified and what path to take? Should I upgrade from 8 to 9i to 10g or should I just take all the 10g cert tests (might have to go back to school for that path though)? What are your opinions?
Also, as a side question - are there more job opps for Oracle Developers versus Oracle DBAs? If there are more job opps for Oracle Developers, maybe I should concentrate on Oracle Developer Certification versus the Oracle DBA route. What are your opinions on this view?

What are your opinions on this view? You've probably seen [http://www.oracle.com/education/certification] -> 'Already Certified' -> 'Upgrade your certification' ... 1z0-035 + 1z0-040.
But go are probably correct in saying if you've not been doing DBA work for a while then 1z0-042+1z0-043 (I assume you already have 1z0-001) may be better. (I dont think you would mandatorily have to attend a hands on course though of course is advised ... firstly on certview then check with ocpexam_ww ).
In some parts of the world there are probably an excess of people with DBA certifications .... so there may be more job opportunities for developers especially having both java and PL/SQL.

  • Reg upgrade of Physical Standby from 9i -10g

hi guys,I'm planning to upgrade my database from 9i 9.2.0.7-10g 10.2.0.3...along with Physical Standby Site....
I got a link for Dataguard upgrade
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14239/upgrades.htm
what I conluded from this links is...Just writing the high level steps
-Apply all the Archive logs on Standby
-install the Oracle Software on Primary Standby
    -Upgrade the Primary
-Start the Standby with password file and spfile from the new home..and set the FAL parameters
I might be missing some steps here
    but
I just wanted to make sure we actually dont upgrade the Standby as we do with Primary just installing the 10g software on Standby as well and starting the instance with spfile from 10g home with same set of datafies....is considered to be the upgrade.......of Standby database????????looks too simple
    Thanx
    Gagan

You could certainly reinstall Apex to make sure that Apex-related packages and procedures are re-granted properly, but that still won't solve the other cases where specific non-Apex-related packages were granted but became "ungranted" after the upgrade. I'm not involved with DB upgrades myself, so the whole procedure is a bit "black box" to me, so I don't know if packages that were granted become revoked on an upgrade. Talk to you DBA about the DB upgrade and find out what packages were granted by default.
but we may get other errors down the line because of other privileges that are still missing...Probably, and depending on the exact 10g version you installed, there are other DB bugs that will mess with Apex. Was this upgrade done on a test instance first or just production? In either case, run through all your applications and see if anything else breaks. If possible (and appropriate) notify your users that an upgrade occurred and that you've tried to resolve any problems but some might be hiding out there. It's not bad to be cautious--we tend to run things the other way and upgrade overnight, do a few checks to see that nothing is 100% broken and come in the next morning to all kinds of fun errors the users found.

  • Can I attend Oracle 10g DBA course & attempt DBA Certification for 11g

    Hi,
I am already OCP-PLSQL and want to attempt OCP-DBA stream. I enquired at various oracle education centers and came to know that all are conducting courses for Oracle-10g.
So can I attend Oracle 10g DBA course (Mandatory Course) and attempt DBA Certification for 11g. (1ZO-052 and 1ZO-053)
    Thanks,

    Thanks,
Vikrant PatilYou can do these thing, and Oracle will take your money for it, but you will receive neither 11g DBA OCP certication nor 10g DBA OCP Certification at the end of it. So it isnt what you would ant to do.
Oracle Unviersity would provide the 11g DBA training courses ... No problem.
however I suspect what you term oracle education centers are probaby institutes offering WDP Courses at 10g DBA (on the cheap). See http://workforce.oracle.com
If you do 10g training then that will only be valid for 10g DBA OCP Certification .. so you would need to take 1z0-042 and 1z0-043 (I guess you already have an SQL Exam pass). Then 1z0-050 can upgrade it to 11g DBA OCP.
(Note that it does not affect you, but the converse is typically true .... version X+1 training will often be acceptable for a version X certification.)

  • Challenges while Upgrading from OBIEE 10g to 11g

    Hi Gurus,
This is Kiran again. This time I am back with the upgradation issues. We have a client which is currently on OBIEE 10g. All components are already configured in OBIEE 10g with client on RPD, Catalog and implemented all security levels for those.
Now the challenge is to upgrade all activities which we have configured in OBIEE 10g. I have seen lot of stuff online and understood how to upgrade from OBIEE 10g to OBIEE 11g by simply clicking on ua.bat file. But I am unable to understand the process how it is upgrading the securities and environments.
Can anyone help me out by providing necessary stuff I need to take care of before taking the decision to upgrade from OBIEE 10g to 11g.
And also please clear me whether we will have any challenges in upgrading process. If yes, then what kind of challenges we will face and what kind of necessary steps we need to implement to resolve it.
What kind of Architecture we need to follow?
    How Schedulers will get upgraded?
Please help me out with your real experiences (Not the online websites). Your response will be highly appreciated and it will help lot of OBIEE professionals who are in the process of upgradation.
Thanks in Advance to all OBIEE GURUS.
    Kiran

    Hi Valli,
There is really great information available in this link. But I would like to know whether any one faced any issues while upgrading from OBIEE 10g to 11g. Please do share us few issues....

  • Cannot find dashboard and reports after upgrading rdp from 10g to 11g OBIEE

    Hi all
I am trying to upgrade from OBIEE 10g to 11g. These two products are installed on different servers. I have followed the guide: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/issue-archive/2011/11-jul/o41bi-402913.html and everything seems to work fine.
So i have taken a copy of rdp from the server where was installed OBIEE 10g and took it in the server where OBIEE 11g is installed.
Ran the upgrade tool and upgrade finished successfully. Restarted the BI Servers in core application on Enterprise Manager.
Now when i access the upgraded rpd, the layers and the fields are fine but I cannot find all the reports and dashboards that i had created.
Am I missing any upgrade steps?
    Please suggest
    Thank you and best regards

    Hi Deepak,
    Thanks for your response.
Oracle also came back to me and looks like my method is not valid:
    Hi Jim,
Thanks a lot for the information. First of all I would like to inform you that upgrade CANNOT be performed across two machine. So, if 10g installation is on Host A, then upgrade to 11g will be on Host A.
So, in your scenario this is what you can do:
    1. On Host A running Forms/Discoverer 10g on Windows 2003, install Forms/Discoverer/Reports 11g (11.1.1.6.0)
    2. Run the upgrade Assistant to perform the upgrade from 10g to 11g.
    3. Now upgrade OS of Host A to Windows 2008
In short, I would like to inform you that upgrades across machines does not work. Source instance which is 10g and destination instance which is 11g must exist on same box.
Here is the documentation which you can follow:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/upgrade.1111/e10130/toc.htm
(Oracle® Fusion Middleware Upgrade Guide for Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports, and Discoverer)
    11g Release 1 (11.1.1)
