UPGRADE CONFUSION! What are the facts?

Hi All!
I have the 'new' Intel 1.83Mhz mac mini but would like to upgrade my processor. Is this even possible? The techie over at my local mac store told me that the processor can't be upgraded due to the motherboard?! Is this true or farce?
I have been lurking around cyberspace trying to find information about what type of processor the mini uses and I'm not sure what to ask for IF it is possible to upgrade.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Processor swaps are easy, just take care not to damage the nylon posts holding the heatsink in.
If you ebay it right, you can get a good Core Duo for under $100. I bought a Core Solo mini with logic board problems for $200 that I fixed in 5 minutes, then bought a 2.0Ghz Core Duo off of ebay for $70. So I was able to get a decent system together for half the price of a new mini. It all just depends on how much time you're willing to put into it and if you're at all comfortable with taking stuff apart.

Before you even release the software into the test environment, you must perform unit testing. Can every transaction that is used by your company be executed? Does every userexit/enhancement still perform the same task? Does every custom report work the same? All interfaces passing the proper data?
Merely testing the software itself will not give your company any assurance that it will support your business after you go live with it, so after unit testing comes integration testing and user acceptance testing. You must interview Key business users, and from their input you must develop and execute tests for 'business processes'. For example, one common business scenario (which contains many business processes), Order to Cash: Check whether your upgraded systems supports your ability to receive and enter an order, plan the parts, obtain the RM, build the parts ship the order, and book the cash. Or, another Scenario, Procure to Pay: Check if you can plan RM parts, create/release PR, create PO, send PO to Vendor, receive PO in stock, pay invoice, close month for accounting purposes.
These are two major business scenarios in most companies that use ERP. There are hundreds more that can be tested, If you work for a company that cannot afford to have any disruption in their business, then all activities that are normally done by any business user should be tested.
On the SCM side, during an ERP update, you have a smaller task (SAP usually does a good job with backward compatibility with their own modules). BW extractors must be tested. All integration models must be tested. All userexits must be tested. Publishing results/releasing results to ERP must be tested. The list goes on and on depending upon which SCM modules you have implemented.

Clearly there are some applications I need to remove and no doubt my HD could do with a 'spring clean'. My Mac 'Safe Booted' when I turned it on this morning.
I use many different softwares, some web-based. The decision to upgrade to OSX Yosemite is because I was unable to attend a Webinar this week using GoToMeeting downloadable software. GoToMeeting have upgraded their system and my OS is no longer supported. Other websites like VImeo no longer support my version of Safari. I tend to use Chrome if Safari isn't compatible.

For Functionality Differences pls refer to the below site -

After opening the site, please select the Source Release Version which is 4.6 b Then Select the Target Release Version which is "mySAP ERP 2005" or ECC 6.0
Select the Solution Area like Financials, Human Capital Management, Sales....
Select module like MM, PP, SD, and QM.....
Click on Search
then it displays the Release Version and the Delta Functionality. Which can be downloaded to a word document if required.
And also check the release notes of ECC 6.0 in service.sap.com.
When you are upgrading from 4.6C to ECC6
Nothing major, follow the same process you'd follow if you were updating PI service packs in R/3 or enhancing data sources. Empty queues in RSA7 and lbwq. Also empty setup tables through lbwg as the upgrade doesn't like it if these tables contain data. This is all on the R/3 side (although you empty RSA7 by running each delta TWICE in BW).
To transfer queues from lbwq to rsa7, execute jobs through LO cockpit (lbwe).
Some of your data sources could also be using sm13 instead of lbwq, so do check it out as well.
For installing ECC 6.0 you required a solution manager key. With out solution manager key you cannot install ECC6.0.
For ECC 6.0 is called net weaver component here you have ABAP+JAVA stack.
ECC6.0 supports UNCODE.
For installing 4.6 you don't require solution manager key. It only having ABAP stack.
4.6C supports NONUNICODE.
Major difference is ECC6 is netwear product having WASJAVA+ABAP

Forgive such a basic question.
We are just beginning to look at our ERP6.0 upgrade and am unclear whether we should convert to unicode at the same time, and also what are the uses for the Java stack.
Unicode?
We are a single language Latin-1 site so don't need Unicode. However will it become mandatory eventually? Are we better, if we have the opportunity now, just to convert. Also I believe the Java stack is only Unicode. Does ASCII ABAP and Java Unicode complicate things?

Will we need it? We are proposing a technical upgrade from our 4.6c Javaless environment. Where does Java come in to play in ERP6.0? Doesn't it increase greatly the iSeries HW requirements? (I'm looking at a 2 way 550 at the moment)

at the moment, in a latin-1 environment Unicode is for old customers not a requrirement. This might change in 5-10 years ...
Java: No problem at all with ASCII (in latin-1 environments)
=> there is no need for you, but you could go for it. We did several Unicode conversions already and these Latin-1 conversions are pretty easy and simple especially on iSeries, because of the special InPlace Unicode Conversion.
... but this can be done at any time ...

You will have to force the iPad into recovery mode and data will be lost unless you have a backup.

I currently have a Macbook pro 10.6.8 and i'm interested software upgrade What are the advantages and disadvantages for upgrading my software.

Ok... the only reason why i want to uprade my software is because of StarCraft 2. For those that don't know, Heart of the Swarm is coming out this March. I've been eagerly waiting for this expansion. I just read that SC2 HOTS will not be able to support any software below lion. Before attempting any Major Upgrade... get yourself an External Hard Drive... and create a Bootable Clone Backup of your current Hard Drive...
By far the easiest way to make such a Backup, is to use something like
SuperDuper http://www.shirt-pocket.com/
or CCC http://www.bombich.com/
That way, should anything untoward happen during the Upgrade,
you will NOT LOSE ANYTHING.
(Get an EHD that is at least equal to your current Drive...)
Also, get more RAM...
