Upgrade Cost for Recently Purchased Mac?

A colleague has a recently purchased Mac that qualifies for the $9.99 Snow Leopard upgrade. I'd heard (maybe incorrectly) that the fee is for shipping'n'handling and not for licensing.
If that's the case can my colleague legally use my Snow Leopard upgrade disk or have to purchase the $9.99 upgrade?

Agreed with the former suggestion. But I would amend that to say, upgrading to any operating system requires a bit of preparation. Be sure he reads through this to determine if he is ready, and if not, he should get himself ready before buying the update*:

Mac App Store (MAS) apps, per Apple, do not have serial numbers, activation codes or passwords. The MAS does not carry tial versions. It carries free and paid versions. A free version usually has less available features than a paid version of the same app.
If you had a trial version of this app from another source from this same developer, you should have deleted the trial version before downloading the paid version from the MAS. The two versions have now become mixed together. You should get an app such as AppCleaner and completely delete this app and all associated files from your Mac. Then start over and download the paid version from the MAC from the Purchases pane.

Recently purchased Mac and need help with iTunes

I recently purchased a Mac (I had Toshiba and used Windows) and went to add new songs to my iPod on my iPhone. I logged onto my iTunes account, but cannot figure out how to get my new songs that I downloaded onto my iphone. It keeps bringing up to replace my Library, which I figure will delete all the songs I already have. How can I get my iTunes Library on my account from my Toshiba to my Mac so I can add new songs?

The Apple Store will transfer everything from your pc to your new Mac, or you can call Apple support and they will help you move everything, or you can type "move itunes library from pc to mac" into the google search bar.

Upgrade options for first edition mac mini

I have rescued an old mac mini, the thing had been abandoned and mistreated, but its in very good condition.
I am looking to give it a new leash of life but need some advise on which way to go.
The first problem is the original owner has lost the reinstall disk, it has panther on the mac mini but I want to give it a fresh start to get rid off the old user info, he has also installed lots of p2p software which I hate and cannot seem to get rid of it.
So, I want to install leopard, upgrade the memory from 256 to 1gb and buy the new apple keyboard and mouse.
Can I do this, or can I reinstall without the disk also might 256 be enough memory for leopard.
The mac mini only cost me £50 would it be worth it, I feel sorry for it.
Its not the Intel version its a PowerPC G4 model.

I don't mean to sound like a know-it-all, Andy, but don't let that membership date for me fool you. I had somehow misplaced the info to log on, and, since I hadn't visited these forums for a while, Apple must have booted me off. I remember your valuable input to early Mac converts from the dreaded Pee Cee who bought the original Mini very well.
The distinction here, though, is one of semantics, and by serious I am referring to a combination of disk-intensive activities, coupled with algorithms in iTunes that have it going out to the 2 sites on the net that will retrieve cover art for personally-owned CDs and DVDs from the iTunes store, and the variety of track/CD data that CDDB provides.
I've tried every possible combination of alternatives to have the Mini behave like a well-disciplined child, here — everything from setting disk access preferences in the finder, to forbidding iTunes to do anything with a newly loaded disc until I tell it to do so. Nothing worked. I've erased the hard drive several times (first as a last resort) and reinstalled Leopard *by itself* and tested the system again to see if I could correct things. I even did this again last night after I had Tiger back up and running on the internal drive: I wiped the external clean, even zeroing out all the data on it, installed another fresh, clean copy of Leopard, requested the upgrade to 10.5.2, reset my iTunes account, then launched a new library. On the second attempt to load a disc into that new library I was back to the same problem that has been plaguing me for more than a month. Meanwhile, the Tiger install is operating perfectly — even willing to accept the massive amount of work that I had already completed so laboriously in Leopard.
I am not suggesting that you are incorrect, only that your own serious applications on a 1.25 GH G4 Mac Mini are not such that they will provoke this misbehavior. It may well be, too, that the unique architecture of this specific class of Mini is such that the problem cannot be replicated on any other PPC Mac that qualifies for the Leopard install. I'll also submit to noting that the Mail and Safari problems that persist on the number of G4-based Macs I support for myself and my clients may, in fact, be due to the shoddy practices of our ISP. No matter what I tell them, we still get unbelievably slow service for a cable connection (sometimes waiting as long as 3 minutes for this forum to appear, no matter which machine we are testing), and we still get a warning (on Leopard only) that the mail certificate does not match.

LIV-Planned Del.Cost for Multiple Purchase order.

I have following issue while doing LIV -T-code MIRO . Passing Planned del. cost (Imports -Custom Duty) for Multiple POs (Same Vendor)
Checked following basics.
1.In Po Planned Del cost are maintained .(Custom Duty)
2.in MIRO -Selected Layout All information and Planned Del. cost
3.In Details tab Entered Doc. type RI (inv. receipt-IM) for imports.
4.Entered all mand. details like Amount ,currencey etc
1.Selected Layout All information and Planned Del. cost
2.Selected in Po reference Tab- Purchase order/Scheduling agreement and in more allocation area ,I am entering mulitple purchase order.(say 2 Pos)
When I adopt required 2 Po and line items to be settled r desplayed. and Again when I enter.Only One PO is displayed and other vansihes.
I need Both the PO (multiple PO).
Please help in resolving the issue.

Hi,
Yes, it is possible.
In MIRO, click on "More Allocation Criteria" button besides Purchase Order field
here go to search help of PO in the Pop-up screen and enter the vendor code and company code and execute
Now select the POs and click on "Copy" button and now click on "Adopt" button in the pop-up screen
It will copy all the POs and then follow the normal procedure of LIV.

How can I find invoice for recent purchase?

Hi all!
I purchased at 6 of August in Thailand a macbook pro with retina display using Apple ID and now I need an invoice. Unfortunately, I deleted an email with attached invoice that Apple sent me.
My next steps were:
Logging into my account -> Account home page -> Print an invoice -> I see my mac order and no link or button about invoice. What should I do and where can I get this invoice?

What do you mean by duty? If it is excise duty, you can find it in Excise Invoice Header table. Table name is J_1IEXCHDR. Link billing and excise invoice header table with join condition VBRK-VBELN = J_1IEXCHDR-RDOC. Fields EXBED, ECS & EXADDTAX1 are Basic Excise Duty, Education Cess and Secondary & Higher Education Cess respectively. You will get the duty values at document level.

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT Upgrade Kit for (1st Gen) Mac Pros - Now Available

As the header says: at the Apple Online Store. Who's gonna get one?
I've got an ATI x1900 and am curious to see if the 8800 offers any improvements. Unlike others, I've no complaints with my current card (but I am really dorky and give it a nice air-spray once a month to clear all that darned dust).
Keeping this as a question for feedback from folks...

Motion does not take advantage of the 8800GT, nor does the rest of the ProApps. Performance is slower than the X1900XT. I upgraded because my X1900XT was becoming useless, even with thorough cleaning it would consistently produce artifacts and completely hang Motion so I really had no other choice.
I really hope Apple comes through with drivers that will allow Motion and FCP to take advantage of it's considerably better power than the X1900XT, but for now - if you have a working X1900XT (you would be in a lucky minority it seems), stick with it.

Major version upgrade cost for Photoshop Touch

Does anyone know if each major Photoshop Touch version will be a paid upgrade or is it a wait and see until we reach 2.0 kind of thing? I have no issue with paying for upgrades and developers should get rewarded for their hard work. I'm just wondering if I pull the trigger now or wait until a 2.0 update. I see that PS Touch is only on version 1.4 so maybe I just pull the trigger now, not worry about it and enjoy while I can. I think I just answered my own question. ;)

Upgrade support for users on Mac 10.6 and above

Help: I received a message from Skype that my Mac system (10.6. was using an outdated version of Skype and that I needed to upgrade to Skype version 6.15.0.335. So I did so and whenever I have tried to open the new version of Skype it says I can't open the skype file since I am using an outdated version. I have tried about 8 times now and keep getting the same outcome. Help please. Thanks? ejpj

I'll be happy to get skype back on my very old secondary laptop that still must remain on 10.5.8 ... it cannot be updated, so at least I'll be able to get my skype back. In the future, I hope you'll make sure NOT to disable a previous version of skype until you've verified that the new downloaded version will install on that person's configuration. It should just say sorry, you can't update your version of skype, not disable your current working version and then say that.

I purchase my Mac approx 6 years, recently purchase Mac OS X Snow Leopard disk for my daughters new IPOD to work, computer is extremely slow, others refuse to use it, why is it slow, I know very little about this computer and have hated it from day one! Please help. The most I have on this computer would be photos, never downloaded movies, and have approx 40 songs.

The best option to make it faster would be to manually go through and erase all of the junk (files you never use) from the computer. If you want a much faster way (depending on how many files you have, this can take much longer), you can copy the files you'd like to keep to an external HD and then erase and reinstall OS X.
Erase and Reinstall OS X using the OS X Install DVD
Note: This will delete all data on the disk. Back up important files before continuing.
Erasing and then reinstalling OS X can give you a fresh start, making your computer exactly as it was whenever you received it from Apple. This can solve various problems such as corrupt system files.
Insert your OS X Install DVD into the computer's built-in disc drive (if applicable) or your computer's external USB disc drive.
Shut down the computer by going to Apple () > Shut Down…
Select Shut Down or allow the computer to shut down automatically.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter into a power source and then connect it to your Mac if you have not already done so.
Press the Power Button to turn on the computer.
Press and hold the D key on the keyboard until the Recovery partition loads. If this does not work, shut down the computer, press the Power Button to turn on the computer, and then hold in the Alt (⌥) button immediately after you press the power button. Then, select the Mac OS X Install DVD to boot from the Mac OS X Install DVD.
Select Disk Utility and then choose Continue.
Select your startup disk (Macintosh HD by default) from the left.
Select the Erase tab.
Choose the Format pop-up menu and choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled), enter a name for your disk, and then click Erase.
After the disk is erased, choose Disk Utility > Quit Disk Utility.
Select Reinstall OS X and then choose Continue.
Follow the instructions.

Do i have to re-purchase Mac OS X Lion from the App store to download it to my MacBook as well?

I recently purchased Mac OS X Lion for my iMac from the App Store and was wondering if I have to re-purchase the product to be able to also put it on my MacBook. When I sign into the App Store on my MacBook it says "Install" next to the Mac OS X Lion Title and does not ask me to purchase again.

You can install it on as many computers that you personally own. Each computer must have Snow Leopard installed and log into the App Store using the same Apple ID used to purchase Lion. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the App Store toolbar. You will see an active Install button to the right of the original Lion purchase entry.
