Upgrade CS-MARS-20-K9 and licensing

My CS-MARS-20-K9 version: 4.2.1 (2251). I want to upgade to lastest version 6.0.7.
I see two way to upgrade:
method 1. re-image using a 6.0.1 dvd recovery. and upgrade use other patch: 6.02, 6.03, 6.0.4, 6.0.5, 6.0.6, 6.0.7. I lose my database this way.
Method 2. upgarde to 4.3.6 (upgrade around 15 patch from 4.2.1 to 4.3.6) so I can upgrade to 6.0.1 and upgrade use other patch: 6.02, 6.03, 6.0.4, 6.0.5, 6.0.6, 6.0.7. I wont lose database.
Is this correct method?
I know csmars v 4.x using license is 25 key string. And cs-mars use licence file recently. If I upgrade as above, I still can use  25 key string license?
thank you

Yes the two options you have mentioned are correct. The only difference being (as mentioned) in method 1 you will lose all the configuration while in method 2 you will be migrating the data from 4.3.6 to 6.0.1.
"I know csmars v 4.x using license is 25 key string. And cs-mars use  licence file recently. If I upgrade as above, I still can use  25 key  string license?"
The license format depends only on the  MARS appliance you have. For all MARS Gen1 appliances, the license is a 25 character string while for Gen2 appliances, it is a license file. So basically, the license format following the upgrade of your MARS will still be the 25 character string.
All the best!!
Thanks,
Prapanch

  • Cisco PI 1.3 upgrade to PI 2.1 and licensing issues

    Hi,
Currently we have installed Cisco PI 1.3 as virtual appliance with evaluation license which is expired. We are planning to upgrade to PI 2.1 but instead of upgrade we are planning to remove old virtual appliance and install new PI 2.1 virtual appliance as there were no licenses installed on old one and its evaluation license expired. But earlier we have purchased this licenses:
    R-PI12-K9
    Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2
    R-PI12-BASE-K9
Prime Infrastructure 1.2 Base License and Software
    L-PI12-LF-500
    Prime Infrastructure 1.2 - Lifecycle - 500 Device Lic
    L-PI12-CM-500
    Prime Infrastructure 1.2 - Compliance - 500 Device Lic
    L-LMS42-CM-500
Prime LMS 4.2 - Compliance - 500 Device Lic PAK
    L-PI12-CM-500-LIC
Prime Infrastructure 1.2 - Compliance - 500 Device Lic PAK
    L-PI12-LF-500-LIC
Prime Infrastructure 1.2 - Lifecycle - 500 Device Lic PAK
    L-PILMS42-500
Prime Infrastructure LMS 4.2 - 500 Device Base Lic
Can I install new PI 2.1 and use that licenses on that PI 2.1 assuming that this licenses were purchased earlier and not used at all.

AFAIK ,  yes  you can use them without any issue.
You may need to contact the License team  with UID or VUID details to  re-issue the License for the new HOST or server.
    Thanks-

  • 8.0 to 8.2 upgrade: ¿would it affect configuration and/or licensing?

    Hello team:
I am planning the upgrade of an ASA 5550 Active/Passive cluster from 8.0 to 8.2 according to the "zero downtime upgrade" documentation available in the web.
I do not have another cluster for comprehensive testing, but I executed a simple migration procedure on a tiny 5505 and neither licensing features nor the configuration (the command sintax) were affected by this process. I know this is something to care about if you go to 8.3, but this is not my case.
I browsed the release notes of 8.2(5) and no special disclaimer was found by me with respect to this release. So everything should work just fine, but I would like to double check for input with respect to these two subjects:
    1.  ¿Will the licensed features (vpn, concurrent connections, etc) be preserved?
    2. ¿ Will the configuration be preserved ?
Your recommendations will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

An ASA 8.0 to 8.2 upgrade should not affect configuration or licensing. I have done it many times without any problem. Just follow the published procedure carefully and you will be fine.
While you are working on the boxes, I recommend putting ASDM 6.4(7) on them (if it is not already in use) as it is the recommended version for all 8.x releases.

  • If we upgrade to a Professional Edition DPS license can we create an unlimited number of Single edition apps for iPad, iPhone and Android devices?

I work for a organisation based in Sydney and we have a team license for creative cloud (single edition).
We have been producing single folio apps for the iPad and want to continue this through 2015.
At the moment we can only create apps for the iPad platform.  If we upgrade to a Professional Edition DPS license can we create an unlimited number of Single edition apps for iPad, iPhone and Android devices?
We do not need multi-folio apps as we are not a publishing company.

    Thanks Neil
I sent an email yesterday and am awaiting a reply.  Here is my email for reference.

I work for a large organisation based in Sydney and we have a team license for creative cloud (single edition).
We have been producing single folio apps for the iPad through Indesign and the App builder.  We now want to produce apps for iPhone, iPad and Android devices.
If we upgrade to a Professional Edition DPS license can we create an unlimited number of apps for iPad, iPhone and Android devices?
We are not a publishing company so we will produce a small number of the apps.  If you could get back to me with a solution and approx price that would be great.
    Thanks for your time

I have Lightroom 4 and want to upgrade Lightroom 5 with a perpetual license, without buying creative cloud. Please how to do ? Thanks

Or wait a few weeks and get LR6, maybe?   We’re up to LR 5.7 and there’s never been a LR somethingxzxz.8 so it would make sense that the next version is a payfor upgrade, again, with some sort of improvements and new features over LR 5.  This suggestion assumes LR6 will be available as a perpetual license as an upgrade to LR 4, which I would expect, but you never know.

  • I upgraded to Mac OSX Mavericks and my adobe cs4 licensing won't work

I bought my mac book pro a couple of years ago for my education at Kendall College of Art and Design.  As a student I had my computer come installed with the student edition of Adobe Creative Suite 4.  A few weeks ago, I went in to the Apple store to be advised regarding my thoughts on updating my Mac OSX Snow Leopard to Mavericks.  I was told that Mavericks was stable and that I would be able to continue using my current Adobe Creative Suite on the new operative system.
Now when I try to start the program up on Mavericks, i receive the following window:
Licensing for this product has stopped working.
This product has has encountered a problem which requires that you restart your computer before it can be launched.
If you continue to see this message after restarting your computer please contact either your IT administrator or adobe technical support for help, and mention the error code shown at the bottom of this screen.

I went in earlier today to the Apple store to fix this problem, but I was told to get in contact with Adobe since they couldn't help.
I require this program for my works, so I need help.

I just upgraded to mountain lion osx and now my applications are crossed out and out of date. they will not run. how do i fix this?

Here is a recent post I assembled for a similar question:
Unfortunately you got caught up in the minor miracle of Rosetta.  Originally licensed by Apple when it migrated from the PowerPC CPU platform that it had used from the mid-1990's until the Intel CPU platform in 2006, Rosetta allowed Mac users to continue to use their library of PPC software transparently in emulation.
However, Apple's license to continue to use this technology expired with new releases of OS X commencing with Lion (and now Mountain Lion).  While educational efforts have been made over the last 6 years, the fact is that Rosetta was SO successful that many users were caught unaware UNTIL they upgraded to Lion or Mountain Lion.
    Workarounds:
    1. If your Mac will support it, restore OS X Snow Leopard;
    2.  If your Mac will support it, partition your hard drive or add an external hard drive and install Snow Leopard into it and use the "dual-boot" method to choose between your PowerPC software or Lion/Mt. Lion;
    3.  Upgrade your software to Intel compatible versions if they are available, or find alternative software that will open, modify and save your data files;
    3.  Install Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels:

  • CC products require daily sign in and license agreement.

For the past week both Ps and Dw CC are requireing daily sign in and license agreement. I thought these products could be used without a full time connection to the internet. What have I missed that makes daily sign in and licensing a requirement?

I turned off the internet access on my laptop and since the programs could not verify I receive the following message.
So I'm assuming everything is ok and Adobe has just moved to a verify everyday platform. I've purchase a new Dell top of the line XPS system ($1,100) that I will run nothing but Windows and Adobe on. I'm still having issues with CC product line crashed all the time without an error message and Adobe thinks it my current PC and Laptop as they are only i5CPU with 6GB mem. So we'll see. Thing is I didn't have these problems until I upgraded to the CC product line.

    hello,
When I upgrade the mars to 4.3.1. I've noticed that the mars doesn't received any logs from IPS,ASA and other reporting device. But when I check ASA and IPS, i'm pretty sure that the ASA and IPS were sending syslogs alerts to mars the only problem is the mars could not receive. I can ping the IPS / ASA in the mars console but failed when i test the connectivity/discover in Web Interface.
I also execute the pnstart and pnstatus command in the CLI console.
    This is what i get:
    [pnadmin]$ pnstart
    [pnadmin]$ pnstatus
Configuration error: host name does not match janus.conf::janusBoxName.
    Please contact Cisco for support.
    [pnadmin]$
    Any ideas about this?...

  • Upgraded to OSX 10.7 and lost Acrobat Professional 8 features on Pro X

Upgraded to OSX 10.7 and lost Acrobat Professional 8 features on Pro X that came with the OS.
Do I need to purchase a new license? Seems a little harsh considering the entire CS suite had to be upgraded...

Apple clobbered the PS drivers - the fix for this has been poseted - see:

  • Hallo, I want upgrade from LR 3 "student and teacher edition" to LR 5 "normal". Is it possible with a normal upgrade?

    Hallo,
is it possible to upgrade from LR 3 "student and teacher edition" to LR 5.
    Thanks

Yes, your license key functions just like the regular / full Lightroom key. Because you qualified as a student you just purchased at a discount.

  • WISM2 DP and licensing

    Hello all,
I have a question regarding WISM2 DP and licensing.
    Suppose i have a WISM2 with 7.0, 500AP license today and i activate WISM2-DP by upgrading to 7.2,
Do i get 500 AP capacity for free (total 1000AP) or do i get 250APs on each WISM2-blade ?
If i get 500APs for free, why is Cisco selling an expensive licensed 1000 AP WISM2 ? I better buy a single-plane 500AP-WISM2 and upgrade it myself then...50% profit.
Is this the same for a WISM2-300 (supporting 300 APs) ?
When i activate WISM2-DP here, do i get an extra 300 AP or an extra 500 APs ? Or 150AP on each blade ?
    Totally confused by this,
    regards,
    Geert

    Geert,
No, you do not get free licensing.  I'm assuming you are looking at:
Table 1-1     Performance and Scaling Enhancements for the WiSM2 Controller
    Attribute
    Supported Number in 7.0.116.0 Release
    Supported Number in 7.2.103.0 Release.
Maximum Number of APs in a controller
    500
    1,000
Maximum Number of APs in a 6500 chassis
    2,100
    7,000
Maximum Number of clients in a controller
    10,000
    15,000
Maximum Number of Clients in a Chassis
    70,000
    105,000
    Throughput
    10 Gbps
    20 Gbps
This is just that the maximums get raised when you upgrade the code.

  • Can a Mac Pro (2.66 ghz duel core) be upgradable to support Thunderbolt displays and other devices.

Can a Mac Pro (2.66 ghz duel core (4cores)) be upgradable to support Thunderbolt displays and other devices. Does this need to be done through the Graphics card expansion or a additional card to be inserted?

No. There is no way to upgrade any Mac Pro older then the cylindrical 2013 Mac Pro to ThunderBolt.
The requirements of Thunderbolt require a totally redesigned motherboard and chip set rather any plugin cards. These motherboard were never developed for older Mac Pros.
